We consider the 2m-th order elliptic boundary value problem Lu=f(x,u) on a bounded smooth domain ΩRN with Dirichlet boundary conditions on ∂Ω. The operator L is a uniformly elliptic linear operator of order 2m whose principle part is of the form . We assume that f is superlinear at the origin and satisfies , , where are positive functions and q>1 is subcritical. An elliptic system is considered in a smooth bounded domain, subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions of three different types. Based on the construction of certain upper and sub-solutions, we obtain some conditions on the parameters ai,bi,ci (i=1,2) and the exponents m,n,p,q to ensure the existence of positive solutions. In this paper we ascertain the blow-up rate of the large solutions of a class of sublinear elliptic boundary value problems with a weight function in front of the nonlinearity that vanishes on the boundary of the underlying domain, Ω, at different rates according to the point of the boundary, . All previous results in the literature assumed the decay rate of the underlying weight function to be the same at any point of ∂Ω. This hypothesis substantially simplified the mathematical analysis of the problem, as it allowed constructing global sub and supersolutions in an open neighborhood of ∂Ω. Obtaining general results requires localizing at each particular point of the boundary, making particularly involved the mathematical analysis of the problem.  相似文献

Liouville-type theorems are powerful tools in partial differential equations. Boundedness assumptions of solutions are often imposed in deriving such Liouville-type theorems. In this paper, we establish some Liouville-type theorems without the boundedness assumption of nonnegative solutions to certain classes of elliptic equations and systems. Using a rescaling technique and doubling lemma developed recently in Polá?ik et al. (2007) [20], we improve several Liouville-type theorems in higher order elliptic equations, some semilinear equations and elliptic systems. More specifically, we remove the boundedness assumption of the solutions which is required in the proofs of the corresponding Liouville-type theorems in the recent literature. Moreover, we also investigate the singularity and decay estimates of higher order elliptic equations.  相似文献

The paper deals with the large solutions of the problems $\triangle u=u^p$ and $\triangle u= e^u.$ They blow up at the boundary. It is well-known that the first term in their asymptotic behaviour near the boundary is independent of the geometry of the boundary. We determine the second term which depends on the mean curvature of the nearest point on the boundary. The computation is based on suitable upper and lower solutions and on estimates given in [4]. In the last section these estimates are used together with the P-function to establish the asymptotic behaviour of the gradients.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with noncoercive elliptic systems of divergence type, that include both the p-Laplacian and the mean curvature operator and whose right-hand sides depend also on a gradient factor. We prove that any nonnegative entire (weak) solution is necessarily constant. The main argument of our proofs is based on previous estimates, given in Filippucci (2009) [12] for elliptic inequalities. Actually, the main technique for proving the central estimate has been developed by Mitidieri and Pohozaev (2001) [23] and relies on the method of test functions. No use of comparison and maximum principles or assumptions on symmetry or behavior at infinity of the solutions are required.  相似文献
