Modern studies have shown that the X? control charts with variable parameters (VPs) detect process shifts faster than the traditional X? control charts. This article developed the economic design of the VP X? control chart to determine the values of the design parameters of the chart. However, this study, different from previous studies, was focused on the process that is subject to a disturbing cause, and the occurrence of the cause can result in a fuzzy mean shift (ie the magnitude of the mean shift could not be recognized exactly). The issue of economically selecting the design parameters for the chart was firstly formulated as a mathematical programming model with a fuzzy objective function that could cope with fuzzy number type of mean shift. A fuzzy-simulation-based genetic algorithm was then employed to search for the optimal values of the design parameters from the model. An industrial example was provided to illustrate the solution procedure, and was used for comparison between the VP and the traditional X? chart. Effects of model parameters on the solution of the economic design were also discussed.  相似文献

An initial–boundary value problem for a singularly perturbed transport equation with a perturbation parameter ε multiplying the spatial derivative is considered on the set ? = GS, where ? = D? × [0 ≤ tT], D? = {0 ≤ xd}, S = S l S, and S l and S0 are the lateral and lower boundaries. The parameter ε takes arbitrary values from the half-open interval (0,1]. In contrast to the well-known problem for the regular transport equation, for small values of ε, this problem involves a boundary layer of width O(ε) appearing in the neighborhood of S l ; in the layer, the solution of the problem varies by a finite value. For this singularly perturbed problem, the solution of a standard difference scheme on a uniform grid does not converge ε-uniformly in the maximum norm. Convergence occurs only if h=dN-1 ? ε and N0-1 ? 1, where N and N0 are the numbers of grid intervals in x and t, respectively, and h is the mesh size in x. The solution of the considered problem is decomposed into the sum of regular and singular components. With the behavior of the singular component taken into account, a special difference scheme is constructed on a Shishkin mesh, i.e., on a mesh that is piecewise uniform in x and uniform in t. On such a grid, a monotone difference scheme for the initial–boundary value problem for the singularly perturbed transport equation converges ε-uniformly in the maximum norm at an ?(N?1 + N0?1) rate.  相似文献

We investigate the indecomposable decomposition of the modular standard modules of two families of association schemes of finite order. First, we show that, for each prime number p, the standard module over a field F of characteristic p of a residually thin scheme S of p-power order is an indecomposable FS-module. Second, we describe the indecomposable decomposition of the standard module over a field of positive characteristic of a wreath product of finitely many association schemes of rank 2.  相似文献

Edge-colourings of graphs have been studied for decades. We study edge-colourings with respect to hereditary graph properties. For a graph G, a hereditary graph property P and l ? 1 we define \(X{'_{P,l}}\)(G) to be the minimum number of colours needed to properly colour the edges of G, such that any subgraph of G induced by edges coloured by (at most) l colours is in P. We present a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of \(X{'_{P,l}}\)(G). We focus on edge-colourings of graphs with respect to the hereditary properties Ok and Sk, where Ok contains all graphs whose components have order at most k+1, and Sk contains all graphs of maximum degree at most k. We determine the value of \(X{'_{{S_k},l}}(G)\) for any graph G, k ? 1, l ? 1, and we present a number of results on \(X{'_{{O_k},l}}(G)\).  相似文献

It is well known that any Vitali set on the real line ? does not possess the Baire property. The same is valid for finite unions of Vitali sets. What can be said about infinite unions of Vitali sets? Let S be a Vitali set, S r be the image of S under the translation of ? by a rational number r and F = {S r : r is rational}. We prove that for each non-empty proper subfamily F′ of F the union ∪F′ does not possess the Baire property. We say that a subset A of ? possesses Vitali property if there exist a non-empty open set O and a meager set M such that A ? O \ M. Then we characterize those non-empty proper subfamilies F′ of F which unions ∪F′ possess the Vitali property.  相似文献

Denote the set of all holomorphic mappings of a genus 3 Riemann surface S 3 onto a genus 2 Riemann surface S 2 by Hol(S 3, S 2). Call two mappings f and g in Hol(S 3, S 2) equivalent whenever there exist conformal automorphisms α and β of S 3 and S 2 respectively with f ? α = β ? g. It is known that Hol(S 3, S 2) always consists of at most two equivalence classes.We obtain the following results: If Hol(S 3, S 2) consists of two equivalence classes then both S 3 and S 2 can be defined by real algebraic equations; furthermore, for every pair of inequivalent mappings f and g in Hol(S 3, S 2) there exist anticonformal automorphisms α? and β? with f ? α? = β? ? g. Up to conformal equivalence, there exist exactly three pairs of Riemann surfaces (S 3, S 2) such that Hol(S 3, S 2) consists of two equivalence classes.  相似文献

Varying three parameters of the Hotelling's T2 control chart, namely, the sample size, the sampling interval length, and the action limit, results in a great improvement over the traditional T2 control chart particularly for the small process shift. This paper presents the economic model for designing the variable parameters T2 chart. In the economic design, a cost function is constructed, involving the cost of sampling and testing, the cost of false alarm, the cost to detect and remove the assignable cause, and the cost when the process is operating out-of-control. Also, a heuristic method of finding optimal values of adaptive design parameters for minimizing the cost function is presented. Variable and fixed parameters T2 control charts are compared with respect to the expected loss per unit time. Furthermore, the effects of the initial sample number (used for estimating the parameters of F-distribution) upon the operating cost and adaptive design parameters are examined.  相似文献

We study compact complex submanifolds S of quotient manifolds X = ?/Γ of irreducible bounded symmetric domains by torsion free discrete lattices of automorphisms, and we are interested in the characterization of the totally geodesic submanifolds among compact splitting complex submanifolds S ? X, i.e., under the assumption that the tangent sequence over S splits holomorphically. We prove results of two types. The first type of results concerns S ? X which are characteristic complex submanifolds, i.e., embedding ? as an open subset of its compact dual manifold M by means of the Borel embedding, the non-zero(1, 0)-vectors tangent to S lift under a local inverse of the universal covering map π : ? → X to minimal rational tangents of M.We prove that a compact characteristic complex submanifold S ? X is necessarily totally geodesic whenever S is a splitting complex submanifold. Our proof generalizes the case of the characterization of totally geodesic complex submanifolds of quotients of the complex unit ball Bnobtained by Mok(2005). The proof given here is however new and it is based on a monotonic property of curvatures of Hermitian holomorphic vector subbundles of Hermitian holomorphic vector bundles and on exploiting the splitting of the tangent sequence to identify the holomorphic tangent bundle TSas a quotient bundle rather than as a subbundle of the restriction of the holomorphic tangent bundle TXto S. The second type of results concerns characterization of total geodesic submanifolds among compact splitting complex submanifolds S ? X deduced from the results of Aubin(1978)and Yau(1978) which imply the existence of K¨ahler-Einstein metrics on S ? X. We prove that compact splitting complex submanifolds S ? X of sufficiently large dimension(depending on ?) are necessarily totally geodesic. The proof relies on the Hermitian-Einstein property of holomorphic vector bundles associated to TS,which implies that endomorphisms of such bundles are parallel, and the construction of endomorphisms of these vector bundles by means of the splitting of the tangent sequence on S. We conclude with conjectures on the sharp lower bound on dim(S) guaranteeing total geodesy of S ? X for the case of the type-I domains of rank2 and the case of type-IV domains, and examine a case which is critical for both conjectures, i.e., on compact complex surfaces of quotients of the 4-dimensional Lie ball, equivalently the 4-dimensional type-I domain dual to the Grassmannian of 2-planes in C~4.  相似文献

This paper is a contribution to the development of the theory of representations of inverse semigroups in toposes. It continues the work initiated by Funk and Hofstra (Theory Appl Categ 24(7):117–147, 2010). For the topos of sets, we show that torsion-free functors on Loganathan’s category L(S) of an inverse semigroup S are equivalent to a special class of non-strict representations of S, which we call connected. We show that the latter representations form a proper coreflective subcategory of the category of all non-strict representations of S. We describe the correspondence between directed and pullback preserving functors on L(S) and transitive and effective representations of S, as well as between filtered such functors and universal representations introduced by Lawson, Margolis and Steinberg. We propose a definition of a universal representation, or, equivalently, an S-torsor, of an inverse semigroup S in the topos of sheaves \({\mathsf {Sh}}(X)\) on a topological space X. We prove that the category of filtered functors from L(S) to the topos \({\mathsf {Sh}}(X)\) is equivalent to the category of universal representations of S in \({\mathsf {Sh}}(X)\). We finally propose a definition of an inverse semigroup action in an arbitrary Grothendieck topos, which arises from a functor on L(S).  相似文献

The generalized k-connectivity κ k (G) of a graph G was introduced by Chartrand et al. in 1984. As a natural counterpart of this concept, Li et al. in 2011 introduced the concept of generalized k-edge-connectivity which is defined as λ k (G) = min{λ(S): S ? V (G) and |S| = k}, where λ(S) denotes the maximum number l of pairwise edge-disjoint trees T 1, T 2, …, T l in G such that S ? V (T i ) for 1 ? i ? l. In this paper we prove that for any two connected graphs G and H we have λ 3(GH) ? λ 3(G) + λ 3(H), where GH is the Cartesian product of G and H. Moreover, the bound is sharp. We also obtain the precise values for the generalized 3-edge-connectivity of the Cartesian product of some special graph classes.  相似文献

We consider the Euler-Maruyama discretization of stochastic volatility model dSt = σtStdWt, dσt = ωσtdZt, t ∈ [0, T], which has been widely used in financial practice, where Wt,Zt, t ∈ [0, T], are two uncorrelated standard Brownian motions. Using asymptotic analysis techniques, the moderate deviation principles for log Sn (or log |Sn| in case Sn is negative) are obtained as n → ∞ under different discretization schemes for the asset price process St and the volatility process σt. In this paper we give a partial answer to the following question: does a large subsemigroup of a semigroup S with the finite combinatorial property finite derivation type (FDT) also have the same property? A positive answer is given for large ideals. As a consequence of this statement we prove that, given a finitely presented Rees matrix semigroup M[S;I,J;P], the semigroup S has FDT if and only if so does M[S;I,J;P].  相似文献

For a closed oriented surface Σ we define its degenerations into singular surfaces that are locally homeomorphic to wedges of disks. Let XΣ,n be the set of isomorphism classes of orientation-preserving n-fold branched coverings Σ → S 2 of the two-dimensional sphere. We complete XΣ,n with the isomorphism classes of mappings that cover the sphere by the degenerations of Σ. In the case Σ = S 2, the topology that we define on the obtained completion \({\overline X _{\Sigma ,n}}\) coincides on \({X_{{s^2},n}}\) with the topology induced by the space of coefficients of rational functions P/Q, where P and Q are homogeneous polynomials of degree n on ?P1S 2. We prove that \({\overline X _{\Sigma ,n}}\) coincides with the Diaz–Edidin–Natanzon–Turaev compactification of the Hurwitz space H(Σ, n) ? X Σ,n consisting of isomorphism classes of branched coverings with all critical values being simple.  相似文献

We prove that for every n ∈ ? there exists a metric space (X, d X), an n-point subset S ? This improves a bound of Johnson and Lindenstrauss [JL84]. We also obtain the following quantitative counterpart to a classical extension theorem of Minty [Min70]. X and a function f: S → ?2 that is α-Hölder with constant 1, yet the α-Hölder constant of any F: X → ?2 that extends f satisfies \({\left\| F \right\|_{Lip\left( \alpha \right)}} > {\left( {\log n} \right)^{\frac{{2\alpha - 1}}{{4\alpha }}}} + {\left( {\frac{{\log n}}{{\log \log n}}} \right)^{{\alpha ^2} - \frac{1}{2}}}\). We formulate a conjecture whose positive solution would strengthen Ball’s nonlinear Maurey extension theorem [Bal92], serving as a far-reaching nonlinear version of a theorem of König, Retherford and Tomczak-Jaegermann [KRTJ80]. We explain how this conjecture would imply as special cases answers to longstanding open questions of Johnson and Lindenstrauss [JL84] and Kalton [Kal04].  相似文献

This paper contains several results about the structure of the congruence kernel C(S)(G) of an absolutely almost simple simply connected algebraic group G over a global field K with respect to a set of places S of K. In particular, we show that C(S)(G)) is always trivial if S contains a generalized arithmetic progression. We also give a criterion for the centrality of C(S)(G) in the general situation in terms of the existence of commuting lifts of the groups G(Kv) for v ? S in the S-arithmetic completion ?(S). This result enables one to give simple proofs of the centrality in a number of cases. Finally, we show that if K is a number field and G is K-isotropic, then C(S)(G) as a normal subgroup of ?(S) is almost generated by a single element.  相似文献
