In this paper we study the existence and qualitative property of standing wave solutions for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with E being a critical frequency in the sense that . We show that if the zero set of WE has several isolated connected components Zi(i=1,…,m) such that the interior of Zi is not empty and ∂Zi is smooth, then for ?>0 small there exists, for any integer k,1?k?m, a standing wave solution which is trapped in a neighborhood of , where is any given subset of . Moreover the amplitude of the standing wave is of the level . This extends the result of Byeon and Wang (Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 165 (2002) 295) and is in striking contrast with the non-critical frequency case , which has been studied extensively in the past 20 years.  相似文献

The nonlinear Schrödinger equation possesses three distinct six-parameter families of complex-valued quasiperiodic traveling waves, one in the defocusing case and two in the focusing case. All these solutions have the property that their modulus is a periodic function of xct for some cR. In this paper we investigate the stability of the small amplitude traveling waves, both in the defocusing and the focusing case. Our first result shows that these waves are orbitally stable within the class of solutions which have the same period and the same Floquet exponent as the original wave. Next, we consider general bounded perturbations and focus on spectral stability. We show that the small amplitude traveling waves are stable in the defocusing case, but unstable in the focusing case. The instability is of side-band type, and therefore cannot be detected in the periodic set-up used for the analysis of orbital stability.  相似文献

Solutions to the Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the real line are studied in Sobolev spaces Hs, for s negative but close to 0. For smooth solutions there is an a priori upper bound for the Hs norm of the solution, in terms of the Hs norm of the datum, for arbitrarily large data, for sufficiently short time. Weak solutions are constructed for arbitrary initial data in Hs.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with time-dependent loss/gain which reads iut+Δu+λ|u|αu+ia(t)u=0iut+Δu+λ|u|αu+ia(t)u=0. This equation appears in the recent studies of Bose–Einstein condensates and optical systems. We obtain some global existence and blow-up results which depend on the size of the loss/gain coefficient. In particular, we prove the global existence for the energy critical nonlinearity. By scaling and compactness arguments, we also discuss asymptotic profiles and concentration properties of blow-up solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations with Hartree type nonlinearity. We obtain the existence of standing waves by studying the related constrained minimization problems via applying the concentration-compactness principle. By symmetric decreasing rearrangements, we also show that the standing waves, up to translations and phases, are positive symmetric nonincreasing functions. Moreover, we prove that the set of minimizers is a stable set for the initial value problem of the equations, that is, a solution whose initial data is near the set will remain near it for all time.  相似文献

Exact analytic solutions of Schrödinger linear partial differential equations are obtained. Moreover, the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation is treated with the use of a well-known functional analytic method and the existence of convergent power series solutions is proved. From these solutions, under certain initial conditions, similar results as those presented in the literature are obtained.  相似文献

We extended the (G′/G)-expansion method to two well-known nonlinear differential-difference equations, the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the Toda lattice equation, for constructing traveling wave solutions. Discrete soliton and periodic wave solutions with more arbitrary parameters, as well as discrete rational wave solutions, are revealed. It seems that the utilized method can provide highly accurate discrete exact solutions to NDDEs arising in applied mathematical and physical sciences.  相似文献

The high-order dispersive nonlinear Schrödinger equation is considered. The exact solutions were obtained by Zhang et al. [J.L. Zhang, M.L. Wang, X.Z. Li, Phys. Lett. A 357 (2006) 188-195] are analyzed. We can demonstrate that some solutions do not satisfy this equation. To obtain the correct solutions, the F-expansion method is applied to solve it.  相似文献

Split-step orthogonal spline collocation (OSC) methods are proposed for one-, two-, and three-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equations with time-dependent potentials. Firstly, the NLS equation is split into two nonlinear equations, and one or more one-dimensional linear equations. Commonly, the nonlinear subproblems could be integrated directly and accurately, but it fails when the time-dependent potential cannot be integrated exactly. In this case, we propose three approximations by using quadrature formulae, but the split order is not reduced. Discrete-time OSC schemes are applied for the linear subproblems. In numerical experiments, many tests are carried out to prove the reliability and efficiency of the split-step OSC (SSOSC) methods. Solitons in one, two, and three dimensions are well simulated, and conservative properties and convergence rates are demonstrated. We also apply the ways of solving the nonlinear subproblems to the split-step finite difference (SSFD) methods and the time-splitting spectral (TSSP) methods, and the approximate ways still work well. Finally, we apply the SSOSC methods to solve some problems of Bose-Einstein condensates.  相似文献

We introduce a system of two linearly coupled discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations (DNLSEs), with the coupling constant subject to a rapid temporal modulation. The model can be realized in bimodal Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). Using an averaging procedure based on the multiscale method, we derive a system of averaged (autonomous) equations, which take the form of coupled DNLSEs with additional nonlinear coupling terms of the four-wave-mixing type. We identify stability regions for fundamental onsite discrete symmetric solitons (single-site modes with equal norms in both components), as well as for two-site in-phase and twisted modes, the in-phase ones being completely unstable. The symmetry-breaking bifurcation, which destabilizes the fundamental symmetric solitons and gives rise to their asymmetric counterparts, is investigated too. It is demonstrated that the averaged equations provide a good approximation in all the cases. In particular, the symmetry-breaking bifurcation, which is of the pitchfork type in the framework of the averaged equations, corresponds to a Hopf bifurcation in terms of the original system.  相似文献

We construct the multi-breather solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) on the background of elliptic functions by the Darboux transformation, and express them in terms of the determinant of theta functions. The dynamics of the breathers in the presence of various kinds of backgrounds such as dn, cn, and nontrivial phase-modulating elliptic solutions are presented, and their behaviors dependent on the effect of backgrounds are elucidated. We also determine the asymptotic behaviors for the multibreather solutions with different velocities in the limit , where the solution in the neighborhood of each breather tends to the simple one-breather solution. Furthermore, we exactly solve the linearized NLSE using the squared eigenfunction and determine the unstable spectra for elliptic function background. By using them, the Akhmediev breathers arising from these modulational instabilities are plotted and their dynamics are revealed. Finally, we provide the rogue wave and higher order rogue wave solutions by taking the special limit of the breather solutions at branch points and the generalized Darboux transformation. The resulting dynamics of the rogue waves involves rich phenomena, depending on the choice of the background and possessing different velocities relative to the background. We also provide an example of the multi- and higher order rogue wave solution.  相似文献

In this paper, we study blow-up solutions of the Cauchy problem to the L2 critical nonlinear Schrdinger equation with a Stark potential. Using the variational characterization of the ground state for nonlinear Schrdinger equation without any potential, we obtain some concentration properties of blow-up solutions, including that the origin is the blow-up point of the radial blow-up solutions, the phenomenon of L2-concentration and rate of L2-concentration of blow-up solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a uniqueness result for solutions to the Gross–Pitaevskii hierarchy on the three-dimensional torus, under the assumption of an a priori spacetime bound. We show that this a priori bound is satisfied for factorized solutions to the hierarchy which come from solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In this way, we obtain a periodic analogue of the uniqueness result on R3R3 previously proved by Klainerman and Machedon [75], except that, in the periodic setting, we need to assume additional regularity. In particular, we need to work in the Sobolev class HαHα for α>1α>1. By constructing a specific counterexample, we show that, on T3T3, the existing techniques from the work of Klainerman and Machedon approach do not apply in the endpoint case α=1α=1. This is in contrast to the known results in the non-periodic setting, where these techniques are known to hold for all α?1α?1. In our analysis, we give a detailed study of the crucial spacetime estimate associated to the free evolution operator. In this step of the proof, our methods rely on lattice point counting techniques based on the concept of the determinant of a lattice. This method allows us to obtain improved bounds on the number of lattice points which lie in the intersection of a plane and a set of radius R, depending on the number-theoretic properties of the normal vector to the plane. We are hence able to obtain a sharp range of admissible Sobolev exponents for which the spacetime estimate holds.  相似文献

Conditions of optimal (synchronized) collisions of any number of solitons and breathers are studied within the framework of the Gardner equation (GE) with positive cubic nonlinearity, which in the limits of small and large amplitudes tends to other long‐wave models, the classic and the modified Korteweg–de Vries equations. The local solution for an isolated soliton or breather within the GE is obtained. The wave amplitude in the focal point is calculated exactly. It exhibits a linear superposition of partial amplitudes of the solitons and breathers. The crucial role of the choice of proper soliton polarities and breather phases on the cumulative wave amplitude in the focal point is demonstrated. Solitons are most synchronized when they have alternating polarities. The straightforward link to the problem of synchronization of envelope solitons and breathers in the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation is discussed (then breathers correspond to envelope solitons propagating above a condensate).  相似文献
