We consider a finite buffer single server queue with batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP), where server serves a limited number of customer before going for vacation(s). Single as well as multiple vacation policies are analyzed along with two possible rejection strategies: partial batch rejection and total batch rejection. We obtain queue length distributions at various epochs and some important performance measures. The Laplace–Stieltjes transforms of the actual waiting time of the first customer and an arbitrary customer in an accepted batch have also been obtained.  相似文献

We consider a finite buffer batch service queueing system with multiple vacations wherein the input process is Markovian arrival process (MAP). The server leaves for a vacation as soon as the system empties and is allowed to take repeated (multiple) vacations. The service- and vacation- times are arbitrarily distributed. We obtain the queue length distributions at service completion, vacation termination, departure, arbitrary and pre-arrival epochs. Finally, some performance measures such as loss probability, average queue lengths are discussed. Computational procedure has been given when the service- and vacation- time distributions are of phase type (PH-distribution).  相似文献

We consider an infinite-buffer single server queue where arrivals occur according to a batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP). The server serves until system emptied and after that server takes a vacation. The server will take a maximum number H of vacations until either he finds at least one customer in the queue or the server has exhaustively taken all the vacations. We obtain queue length distributions at various epochs such as, service completion/vacation termination, pre-arrival, arbitrary, departure, etc. Some important performance measures, like mean queue lengths and mean waiting times, etc. have been obtained. Several other vacation queueing models like, single and multiple vacation model, queues with exceptional first vacation time, etc. can be considered as special cases of our model.  相似文献

Steady-state distribution of number of customers in the system at pre-arrival and arbitrary epochs have been obtained along with some important performance measures. Abstract

Customers arriving according to a Markovian arrival process are served at a c server facility. Waiting customers generate into priority while waiting in the system (self-generation of priorities), at a constant rate γ; such a customer is immediately taken for service, if at least one of the servers is free. Else it waits at a waiting space of capacity c exclusively for priority generated customers, provided there is vacancy. A customer in service is not preempted to accommodate a priority generated customer. The service times of ordinary and priority generated customers follow distinct PH-distributions. It is proved that the system is always stable. We provide a numerical procedure to compute the optimal number of servers to be employed to minimize the loss to the system. In this paper, we consider a c-server queuing model in which customers arrive according to a batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP). These customers are served in groups of varying sizes ranging from a predetermined value L through a maximum size, K. The service times are exponentially distributed. Any customer not entering into service immediately orbit in an infinite space. These orbiting customers compete for service by sending out signals that are exponentially distributed with parameter . Under a full access policy freed servers offer services to orbiting customers in groups of varying sizes. This multi-server retrial queue under the full access policy is a QBD process and the steady state analysis of the model is performed by exploiting the structure of the coefficient matrices. Some interesting numerical examples are discussed.  相似文献

This paper analyzes a single-server finite-buffer vacation (single and multiple) queue wherein the input process follows a discrete-time batch Markovian arrival process (D-BMAP). The service and vacation times are generally distributed and their durations are integral multiples of a slot duration. We obtain the state probabilities at service completion, vacation termination, arbitrary, and prearrival epochs. The loss probabilities of the first-, an arbitrary- and the last-customer in a batch, and other performance measures along with numerical aspects have been discussed. The analysis of actual waiting time of these customers in an accepted batch is also carried out.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a discrete time queueing system with multiple types of customers and a first-come-first-served (FCFS) service discipline. Customers arrive according to a semi-Markov arrival process and the service times of individual customers have PH-distributions. A GI/M/1 type Markov chain for a generalized age process of batches of customers is introduced. The steady state distribution of the GI/M/1 type Markov chain is found explicitly and, consequently, the steady state distributions of the age of the batch in service, the total workload in the system, waiting times, and sojourn times of different batches and different types of customers are obtained. We show that the generalized age process and a generalized total workload process have the same steady state distribution. We prove that the waiting times and sojourn times have PH-distributions and find matrix representations of those PH-distributions. When the arrival process is a Markov arrival process with marked transitions, we construct a QBD process for the age process and the total workload process. The steady state distributions of the waiting times and the sojourn times, both at the batch level and the customer level, are obtained from the steady state distribution of the QBD process. This paper deals with a batch service queue and multiple vacations. The system consists of a single server and a waiting room of finite capacity. Arrival of customers follows a Markovian arrival process (MAP). The server is unavailable for occasional intervals of time called vacations, and when it is available, customers are served in batches of maximum size ‘b’ with a minimum threshold value ‘a’. We obtain the queue length distributions at various epochs along with some key performance measures. Finally, some numerical results have been presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyse a multi-server queue with bulk arrivals and finite-buffer space. The interarrival and service times are arbitrarily and exponentially distributed, respectively. This paper considers a discrete-time priority queueing model with one server and two types (classes) of customers. Class-1 customers have absolute (service) priority over class-2 customers. New customer batches enter the system at the rate of one batch per slot, according to a general independent arrival process, i.e., the batch sizes (total numbers of arrivals) during consecutive time slots are i.i.d. random variables with arbitrary distribution. All customers entering the system during the same time slot (i.e., belonging to the same arrival batch) are of the same type, but customer types may change from slot to slot, i.e., from batch to batch. Specifically, the types of consecutive customer batches are correlated in a Markovian way, i.e., the probability that any batch of customers has type 1 or 2, respectively, depends on the type of the previous customer batch that has entered the system. Such an arrival model allows to vary not only the relative loads of both customer types in the arrival stream, but also the amount of correlation between the types of consecutive arrival batches. The results reveal that the amount of delay differentiation between the two customer classes that can be achieved by the priority mechanism strongly depends on the amount of such interclass correlation (or, class clustering) in the arrival stream. We believe that this phenomenon has been largely overlooked in the priority-scheduling literature.  相似文献

This paper deals with an BMAP/G/1 G-queues with second optional service and multiple vacations. Arrivals of positive customers and negative customers follow a batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP) and Markovian arrival process (MAP), respectively. After completion of the essential service of a customer, it may go for a second phase of service. The arrival of a negative customer removes the customer being in service. The server leaves for a vacation as soon as the system empties and is allowed to take repeated (multiple) vacations. By using the supplementary variables method and the censoring technique, we obtain the queue length distributions. We obtain the mean of the busy period based on the renewal theory.  相似文献

Customers arriving according to a Markovian arrival process are served at a single server facility. Waiting customers generate priority at a constant rate γγ; such a customer waits in a waiting space of capacity 1 if this waiting space is not already occupied by a priority generated customer; else it leaves the system. A customer in service will be completely served before the priority generated customer is taken for service (non-preemptive service discipline). Only one priority generated customer can wait at a time and a customer generating into priority at that time will have to leave the system in search of emergency service elsewhere. The service times of ordinary and priority generated customers follow PH-distributions. The matrix analytic method is used to compute the steady state distribution. Performance measures such as the probability of n consecutive services of priority generated customers, the probability of the same for ordinary customers, and the mean waiting time of a tagged customer are found by approximating them by their corresponding values in a truncated system. We study a BMAP/>SM/1 queue with batch Markov arrival process input and semi‐Markov service. Service times may depend on arrival phase states, that is, there are many types of arrivals which have different service time distributions. The service process is a heterogeneous Markov renewal process, and so our model necessarily includes known models. At first, we consider the first passage time from level {κ+1} (the set of the states that the number of customers in the system is κ+1) to level {κ} when a batch arrival occurs at time 0 and then a customer service included in that batch simultaneously starts. The service descipline is considered as a LIFO (Last‐In First‐Out) with preemption. This discipline has the fundamental role for the analysis of the first passage time. Using this first passage time distribution, the busy period length distribution can be obtained. The busy period remains unaltered in any service disciplines if they are work‐conserving. Next, we analyze the stationary workload distribution (the stationary virtual waiting time distribution). The workload as well as the busy period remain unaltered in any service disciplines if they are work‐conserving. Based on this fact, we derive the Laplace–Stieltjes transform for the stationary distribution of the actual waiting time under a FIFO discipline. In addition, we refer to the Laplace–Stieltjes transforms for the distributions of the actual waiting times of the individual types of customers. Using the relationship between the stationary waiting time distribution and the stationary distribution of the number of customers in the system at departure epochs, we derive the generating function for the stationary joint distribution of the numbers of different types of customers at departures. We consider a retrial queue with a finite buffer of size N, with arrivals of ordinary units and of negative units (which cancel one ordinary unit), both assumed to be Markovian arrival processes. The service requirements are of phase type. In addition, a PHL,N bulk service discipline is assumed. This means that the units are served in groups of size at least L, where 1≤ LN. If at the completion of a service fewer than L units are present at the buffer, the server switches off and waits until the buffer length reaches the threshold L. Then it switches on and initiates service for such a group of units. On the contrary, if at the completion of a service L or more units are present at the buffer, all units enter service as a group. Units arriving when the buffer is full are not lost, but they join a group of unsatisfied units called “orbit”. Our interest is in the continuous-time Markov chain describing the state of the queue at arbitrary times, which constitutes a level dependent quasi-birth-and-death process. We start by analyzing a simplified version of our queueing model, which is amenable to numerical calculation and is based on spatially homogeneous quasi-birth-and-death processes. This leads to modified matrix-geometric formulas that reveal the basic qualitative properties of our algorithmic approach for computing performance measures. Single server M/G/1-queues with an infinite buffer are studied; these permit inclusion of server vacations and setup times. A service discipline determines the numbers of customers served in one cycle, that is, the time span between two vacation endings. Six service disciplines are investigated: the gated, limited, binomial, exhaustive, decrementing, and Bernoulli service disciplines. The performance of the system depends on three essential measures: the customer waiting time, the queue length, and the cycle duration. For each of the six service disciplines the distribution as well as the first and second moment of these three performance measures are computed. The results permit a detailed discussion of how the expected value of the performance measures depends on the arrival rate, the customer service time, the vacation time, and the setup time. Moreover, the six service disciplines are compared with respect to the first moments of the performance measures.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a single-server, finite-capacity queue with random bulk service rule where customers arrive according to a discrete-time Markovian arrival process (D-MAP). The model is denoted by D-MAP/G Y /1/M where server capacity (bulk size for service) is determined by a random variable Y at the starting point of services. A simple analysis of this model is given using the embedded Markov chain technique and the concept of the mean sojourn time of the phase of underlying Markov chain of D-MAP. A complete solution to the distribution of the number of customers in the D-MAP/G Y /1/M queue, some computational results, and performance measures such as the average number of customers in the queue and the loss probability are presented.  相似文献

This paper studies a multi-server queueing system with multiple types of customers and last-come-first-served (LCFS) non-preemptive service discipline. First, a quasi-birth-and-death (QBD) Markov process with a tree structure is defined and some classical results of QBD Markov processes are generalized. Second, the MMAP[K]/PH[K]/N/LCFS non-preemptive queue is introduced. Using results of the QBD Markov process with a tree structure, explicit formulas are derived and an efficient algorithm is developed for computing the stationary distribution of queue strings. Numerical examples are presented to show the impact of the correlation and the pattern of the arrival process on the queueing process of each type of customer.  相似文献
