Decomposition curves of gas hydrates formed in the ethane–hydrogen–water system were studied in the pressure interval 2–250 MPa. Gas hydrates synthesized at low (up to 5 MPa) pressures were also studied with use of X-ray powder diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. It was shown that ethane–hydrogen mixtures with hydrogen contents 0–30 mol.% form cubic structure I gas hydrates. Higher hydrogen concentration most probably results in appearance of another hydrate phase. We speculate that the gas mixtures with the hydrogen content above 60 mol.% form cubic structure II double hydrate of hydrogen and ethane at temperatures below ≈280 K and pressures above 25 MPa.  相似文献

Phase equilibria in the system H2-CH4-H2O are investigated by means of differential thermal analysis within hydrogen concentration range 0-70 mol % and at a pressure up to 250 MPa. All the experiments were carried out under the conditions of gas excess. With an increase in hydrogen concentration in the initial gas mixture, decomposition temperature of the formed hydrates decreased. X-ray diffraction patterns and Raman spectra of the quenched hydrate samples obtained at a pressure of 20 MPA from a gas mixture containing 40 mol % hydrogen were recorded. It turned out that the hydrate has cubic structure I under these conditions. The Raman spectra showed that hydrogen molecules are not detected in the hydrate within the sensitivity of the method, that is, almost pure methane hydrate is formed. The general view of the phase diagram of the investigated system is proposed. A thermodynamic model was proposed to explain a decrease in hydrate decomposition temperature in the system with an increase in the concentration of hydrogen in the initial mixture.  相似文献

This paper presents the phase behavior of multicomponent gas hydrate systems formed from primarily methane with small amounts of ethane and propane. Experimental conditions were typically in a pressure range between 1 and 6 MPa, and the temperature range was between 260 and 290 K. These multicomponent systems have been investigated using a variety of techniques including microscopic observations, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. These techniques, used in combination, allowed for measurement of the hydrate structure and composition, while observing the morphology of the hydrate crystals measured. The hydrate formed immediately below the three-phase line (V-L --> V-L-H) and contained crystals that were both light and dark in appearance. The light crystals, which visually were a single solid phase, showed a spectroscopic indication for the presence of occluded free gas in the hydrate. In contrast, the dark crystals were measured to be structure II (sII) without the presence of these occluded phases. Along with hydrate measurements near the decomposition line, an unexpected transformation process was visually observed at P-T-conditions in the stability field of the hydrates. Larger crystallites transformed into a foamy solid upon cooling over this transition line (between 5 and 10 K below the decomposition temperature). Below the transition line, a mixture of sI and sII was detected. This is the first time that these multicomponent systems have been investigated at these pressure and temperature conditions using both visual and spectroscopic techniques. These techniques enabled us to observe and measure the unexpected transformation process showing coexistence of different gas hydrate phases.  相似文献

The dissociation of C(2)H(6) hydrate particles by slow depressurization at temperatures slightly below the ice melting point was studied using optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Visual observations and Raman measurements revealed that ethane hydrates can be present as a metastable state at pressures lower than the dissociation pressures of the three components: ice, hydrate, and free gas. However, they decompose into liquid water and gas phases once the system pressure drops to the equilibrium boundary for supercooled water, hydrate, and free gas. Structural analyses of obtained Raman spectra indicate that structures of the metastable hydrates and liquid water from the hydrate decay are fundamentally identical to those of the stable hydrates and supercooled water without experience of the hydration. These results imply a considerably high energy barrier for the direct hydrate-to-ice transition. Water solidification, probably induced by dynamic nucleation, was also observed during melting.  相似文献

We report the in situ observation from diffraction data of the conversion of a gas hydrate with the structure II (sII) lattice to one with the structure I (sI) lattice. Initially, the in situ formation, dissociation, and reactivity of argon gas clathrate hydrate was investigated by time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction at temperatures ranging from 230 to 263 K and pressures up to 5000 psi (34.5 MPa). These samples were prepared from deuterated ice crystals and transformed to hydrate by pressurizing the system with argon gas. Complete transformation from D(2)O ice to sII Ar hydrate was observed as the sample temperature was slowly increased through the D(2)O ice melting point. The transformation of sII argon hydrate to sI hydrate was achieved by removing excess Ar gas and exposing the hydrate to liquid CO(2) by pressurizing the Ar hydrate with CO(2). Results suggest the sI hydrate formed from CO(2) exchange in argon sII hydrate is a mixed Ar/CO(2) hydrate. The proposed exchange mechanism is consistent with clathrate hydrate being an equilibrium system in which guest molecules are exchanging between encapsulated molecules in the solid hydrate and free molecules in the surrounding gas or liquid phase.  相似文献

The sections of the phase diagram of a ternary system ethane–methane–water at pressures up to 1000 MPa were studied by means of the differential thermal analysis. The investigation was carried out under the conditions of excessive amount of the gas. It was established that two continuous rows of solid solutions belonging to the II type according to Rosenbom’s classification (with a maximum) exist within the whole pressure range studied: one of them is based on the cubic structure I (CS-I) and another on the cubic structure II (CS-II). With an increase in pressure, the maxima at the decomposition curves of solutions based on CS-II shift towards the hydrates with higher ethane content. This was explained in terms of intrusion of ethane molecules into the small d-cavities of the CS-II which is caused by the pressure imposed.  相似文献

For the first time the composition of a high-pressure gas hydrate has been studied analytically. The experimentally determined composition of the argon hydrate of hexagonal structure III (structure H) is Ar· (3.27±0.17)H2O, with the hydrate being stable in the range of pressures 460–770 MPa. The new results confirm the reliability of previous results based on the refinement of argon hydrate structures using neutron powder diffraction data and help to elucidate the evolution of hydrate structures in Ar-H2O system under high pressures.  相似文献

The adsorption of pure methane and ethane in BPL activated carbon has been measured at temperatures between 264 and 373 K and at pressures up to 3.3 MPa with a bench-scale high-pressure open-flow apparatus. The same apparatus was used to measure the adsorption of binary methane/ethane mixtures in BPL at 301.4 K and at pressures up to 2.6 MPa. Thermodynamic consistency tests demonstrate that the data are thermodynamically consistent. In contrast to two sets of data previously published, we found that the adsorption of binary methane/ethane in BPL behaves ideally (in the sense of obeying ideal adsorbed solution theory, IAST) throughout the pressure and gas-phase composition range studied. A Tian-Calvet type microcalorimeter was used to measure low-pressure isotherms, the isosteric heats of adsorption of pure methane and ethane in BPL activated carbon, and the individual heats of adsorption in binary mixtures, at 297 K and at pressures up to 100 kPa. The mixture heats of adsorption were consistent with IAST.  相似文献

R12 hydrate formation kinetics based on laser light scattering technique   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Gas hydrates are non-stoichiometric crystalline compounds of water with gas at a certain temperature and pressure. Compared to the thermodynamics of hydrate formation, our knowledge on the kinetics aspect is rather immature. It is well known that the kinetics of hydrate formation/dissociation plays an important role in many industrial cases, such as the exploitation of methane hydrate underground, the storage and transportation of natural gas in solid hydrate state, the inhibition of hydrate i…  相似文献

In situ high-pressure Raman spectroscopy studies on LiNH2 (lithium amide) have been performed at pressures up to 25 GPa. The pressure-induced changes in the Raman spectra of LiNH2 indicates a phase transition that begins at approximately 12 GPa is complete at approximately 14 GPa from ambient-pressure alpha-LiNH2 (tetragonal, I) to a high-pressure phase denoted here as beta-LiNH2. This phase transition is reversible upon decompression with the recovery of the alpha-LiNH2 phase at approximately 8 GPa. The N-H internal stretching modes (nu([NH2]-)) display an increase in frequency with pressure, and a new stretching mode corresponding to high-pressure beta-LiNH2 phase appears at approximately 12.5 GPa. Beyond approximately 14 GPa, the N-H stretching modes settle into two shouldered peaks at lower frequencies. The lattice modes show rich pressure dependence exhibiting multiple splitting and become well-resolved at pressures above approximately 14 GPa. This is indicative of orientational ordering [NH2]- ions in the lattice of the high-pressure beta-LiNH2 phase.  相似文献

For the first time, the compositions of argon and methane high-pressure gas hydrates have been directly determined. The studied samples of the gas hydrates were prepared under high-pressure conditions and quenched at 77 K. The composition of the argon hydrate (structure H, stable at 460-770 MPa) was found to be Ar.(3.27 +/- 0.17)H(2)O. This result shows a good agreement with the refinement of the argon hydrate structure using neutron powder diffraction data and helps to rationalize the evolution of hydrate structures in the Ar-H(2)O system at high pressures. The quenched argon hydrate was found to dissociate in two steps. The first step (170-190 K) corresponds to a partial dissociation of the hydrate and the self-preservation of a residual part of the hydrate with an ice cover. Presumably, significant amounts of ice Ic form at this stage. The second step (210-230 K) corresponds to the dissociation of the residual part of the hydrate. The composition of the methane hydrate (cubic structure I, stable up to 620 MPa) was found to be CH(4).5.76H(2)O. Temperature dependence of the unit cell parameters for both hydrates has been also studied. Calculated from these results, the thermal expansivities for the structure H argon hydrate are alpha(a) = 76.6 K(-1) and alpha(c) = 77.4 K(-1) (in the 100-250 K temperature range) and for the cubic structure I methane hydrate are alpha(a) = 32.2 K(-1), alpha(a) = 53.0 K(-1), and alpha(a) = 73.5 K(-1) at 100, 150, and 200 K, respectively.  相似文献

The relation between the thermal behavior of extended-chain crystals (ECCs) of polyethylene and the phase transitions, i.e., orthorhombic ? hexagonal ? melt, of polyethylene at high pressures above about 400 MPa has been studied by high-pressure differential thermal analysis (DTA), and with a high-pressure and high-temperature x-ray diffraction apparatus equipped with a position-sensitive proportional counter measuring system. The original sample used in this study consists mainly of two kinds of ECC, which we designate as “ordinary extended-chain” crystals (OECCs) and “highly-extended-chain” crystals (HECCs). Experimental results at pressures below 300 MPa substantiate the results previously reported: i.e., the phase diagram indicating the relation between the melting temperatures and pressure for the OECCs and HECCs can be determined for pressures up to 500 MPa. In heating at pressures above about 500 MPa, the peak intensity of the (100) reflection of the hexagonal structure decreases in two stages with increasing temperature. The phenomenon corresponds to the thermal behavior determined by high-pressure DTA in which two small endothermic peaks can be observed at temperatures above that of the crystal transition evidenced by the strong peak. This phenomenon suggests melting in two stages of hexagonal structures with different thermal stabilities, and that the change at higher temperature may be due to fusion of the hexagonal phase annealed either below or above the transition temperature.  相似文献

The isothermal phase equilibria of the carbon dioxide + cyclopropane mixed-gas hydrate system were investigated by means of static temperature measurement and Raman spectroscopic analysis. Raman spectra indicated that the crystal structure of the carbon dioxide + cyclopropane mixed-gas hydrate changes from structure-I to structure-II and back to structure-I with an increase of the equilibrium carbon dioxide composition at 279.15 K, while each simple gas hydrate belongs to structure-I at the temperature. Whereas, unlike 279.15 K, no structural phase transition occurs along the isothermal stability boundary at 284.15 K.  相似文献

The phase behavior of an optically isotropic cubic mesogen 4'-n-hexadecyloxy-3'-nitrobiphenyl-4-carboxylic acid (ANBC-16) was investigated under hydrostatic pressures up to 200 MPa using a high-pressure DTA, a polarizing optical microscope equipped with a high-pressure hot-stage and a wide-angle X-ray diffractometer equipped with a high-pressure vessel. In the T vs. P phase diagram constructed in the heating mode, a triple point exists at 54±1 MPa and 205±1°C for the SmC, cubic, and SmA phases. A new mesophase, denoted here as X, appears in place of the cubic phase under pressures above about 60 MPa, while the X phase appears on cooling in the whole pressure region studied. Thus the X phase is a monotropic (metastable) phase between the SmA and Cub phases in the low pressure region, while being an enantiotropic phase between the SmA and SmC phases in the high pressure range. The X phase exhibits broken-fan or sand-like textures under pressure and a spot-like diffraction pattern, indicating the birefringent feature and no layered structure. It is suggested that the X phase is tetragonal or hexagonal columnar phase. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In situ Raman spectroscopy is employed to study the phase behavior of methane hydrate at high pressure. The structure 1 of methane hydrate can be maintained up to 950 MPa at 299 K. The transformation of structure I<-->structure H+water+CH4 occurs at 880 MPa and 323 K. The structure H of methane hydrate, however, decomposes to methane and water at 960 MPa and 348 K. The initiation mechanism of methane hydrate sI is also discussed.  相似文献

The separation of methane and ethane through forming hydrate is a possible choice in natural gas, oil processing, or ethylene producing. The hydrate formation conditions of five groups of (methane + ethane) binary gas mixtures in the presence of 0.06 mole fraction tetrahydrofuran (THF) in water were obtained at temperatures ranging from (277.7 to 288.2) K. In most cases, the presence of THF in water can lower the hydrate formation pressure of (methane + ethane) remarkably. However, when the composition of ethane is as high as 0.832, it is more difficult to form hydrate than without THF system. Phase equilibrium model for hydrates containing THF was developed based on a two-step hydrate formation mechanism. The structure of hydrates formed from (methane + ethane + THF + water) system was also determined by Raman spectroscopy. When THF concentration in initial aqueous solution was only 0.06 mole fraction, the coexistence of structure I hydrate dominated by ethane and structure II hydrate dominated by THF in the hydrate sample was clearly demonstrated by Raman spectroscopic data. On the contrary, only structure II hydrate existed in the hydrate sample formed from (methane + ethane + THF + water) system when THF concentration in initial aqueous solution was increased to 0.10 mole fraction. It indicated that higher THF concentration inhibited the formation of structure I hydrate dominated by ethane and therefore lowered the trapping of ethane in hydrate. It implies a very promising method to increase the separation efficiency of methane and ethane.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction patterns of three argon hydrates which exist at the pressures up to 10 kbar has been studied; Rietveld refinement of their structures has been done. The phase which is stable from 1 bar to 4.6 kbar appears to be typical cubic structure II gas hydrate with variable degree of filling of the large cavities. Stoichiometry of this compound under high-pressure conditions has been determined for the first time and appears to be ArW4.5H2O and Ar·4H2O at 3.4 and 4.3 kbar, respectively. Gas hydrate existing in the pressure range of 4.6–7.7 kbar has a hexagonal structure (hexagonal structure III, so-called structure H). Refinement of the structure has shown that the best agreement between calculated and experimental pattern can be reached in the case of accommodation of five (!) argon atoms in the large cavity. Indexing of the neutron diffraction pattern of the hydrate stable in the 7.7–9.5 kbar range leads to the primitive tetragonal unit cell with parameters a = 6.342 Å, c = 10.610 Å at 9.2 kbar, which does not correspond to any known type of gas hydrates. The water framework of this structure was found by idealizing the structure of pinacol semiclathrate hydrate. This hydrate belongs to a new, earlier unknown, tetragonal structural type of gas hydrates. It contains only one type of polyhedral cavities with 14 faces. This type of polyhedrons are space-filling; two argon atoms occupy each cavity. This structure gives the first example of the gas hydrate water framework which contains only one type of polyhedral cavities.  相似文献

In this communication, new experimental data are reported for the water content of methane and two synthetic gas mixtures in equilibrium with hydrates at pressures range from 5 to 40 MPa and temperature down to 251.65 K. The measurements have been made on equilibrated samples taken from a high-pressure variable volume hydrate cell using a new analyser based upon tuneable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology. A statistical thermodynamic approach, with the Cubic-Plus-Association equation of state, is employed to model the phase equilibria. The hydrate-forming conditions are modelled by the solid solution theory of van der Waals and Platteeuw. The thermodynamic model was used to predict the water content of methane and synthetic gases in equilibrium with gas hydrates.  相似文献

The phase equilibria in the Xe–H2O system have been studied by the DTA technique under hydrostatic pressures up to 15 000 bar in a temperature range from -25 °C to 100 °C. We have shown that the cubic structure I xenon hydrate forming at ambient pressure does not undergo any phase transitions under the conditions studied. The temperature of its decomposition into water solution and gas (fluid) increases from 27 °C at 25 bar to 78.2 °C at 6150 bar. At higher pressures the hydrate decomposes into water solution and solid xenon. In the temperature range from 6800 to 9500 bar the decomposition temperature (79.0–79.5 °C) is practically independent of pressure, while further pressure increase results in a slow decrease to 67 °C at 15 000 bar.  相似文献
