The topological classification is discussed for real polynomials of degree 4 in two real independent variables whose critical points and critical values are all different. It is proved that among the 17 746 topological types of smooth functions with the same number of critical points, at most 426 types are realizable by polynomials of degree 4.  相似文献

Applying perturbation methods, symbolic computation, and generalizing the solution method, higher-order asymptotic solutions are constructed in Lagrangian variables for several models describing 2D standing wave motions in fluids of various configurations. Three main parameters of the fluid configuration, depth, capillarity, and stratification layer, are considered. The frequency-amplitude dependences are obtained and compared with those known in the literature in Eulerian and Lagrangian variables. The comparison shows that the analytical frequency-amplitude dependences are in complete agreement with previous results known in the literature and with the results obtained for other models. A generalization allows us to investigate critical phenomena for standing waves in fluids of various configurations. Namely, special attention is focused on critical values of one parameter, the fluid depth. The frequency-amplitude dependences are analyzed from the point of view of critical values: critical points and critical curves are determined for several models describing standing waves in fluids of various configurations.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a linearly elastic shell, i.e. a three-dimensional linearly elastic body with a small thickness denoted by 2ε, which is clamped along its part of the lateral boundary and subjected to the regular loads. In the linear case, one can use the two-dimensional models of Ciarlet or Koiter to calculate the displacement for the shell. Some error estimates between the approximate solution of these models and the three-dimensional displacement vector field of a flexural or membrane shell have been obtained. Here we give a new model for a linear and nonlinear shell, prove that there exists a unique solution U of the two-dimensional variational problem and construct a three-dimensional approximate solutions UKT(x,ξ) in terms of U: We also provide the error estimates between our model and the three-dimensional displacement vector field :‖u-UKT‖1,Ω≤C∈r,r=3/2, an elliptic membrane, r = 1/2, a general membrane, where C is a constant dependent only upon the data‖u‖3,Ω,‖UKT‖3,Ω,θ.  相似文献

This paper deals with the asymptotic stability analysis of a discrete dynamical inclusion whose right-hand side is a convex process. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for weak asymptotic stability, and obtain sharp estimates for the asymptotic null-controllability set. These estimates involve not only standard, but also higher-order spectral information on the convex process and its adjoint.  相似文献

We give an asymptotic result for principal points of univariate distributions, as defined in Flury (1990). Principal points are a generalization of the mean and provide a natural way to approximate a continuous distribution. The stability "in the small" of a flat spherical shell with elastic reinforcement is investigated. We study the problem for a spherical shell weakened by thermally insulated slits. Using the two-dimensional Fourier transform and the elements of the theory of distributions, we obtain the resolvent systems of singular integral equations. In 1971, Pazy [Israel J. Math. 9 (1971), 235–240] presented a beautiful trichotomy result concerning the asymptotic behaviour of the iterates of a nonexpansive mapping. In this note, we analyze the fixedpoint- free case in more detail. Our results and examples give credence to the conjecture that the iterates always converge cosmically.
