A series of alternating 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene–alkynylpyridine oligomers (DA)n with increased solubility are synthesized and their photophysical properties and nonlinear optical properties are investigated. Their quadratic polarizabilities are determined from hyper‐Rayleigh scattering experiments to obtain information on their conformations in solution. These chromophores, based on the alternation of electron‐rich (D) and electron‐deficient (A) moieties, exhibit optical properties that arise from the combination of dipolar and helicoidal features in the (DA)n homologue series where n=1–4. The transition from dipolar conjugated planar structures (n=1, 2) to helicoidal structures (n=3, 4) is clearly evidenced by results from symmetry‐sensitive second‐order nonlinear optical experiments. This suggests an approach towards highly efficient chiral chromophores for second‐order nonlinear optics. Interestingly, this structural evolution also has significant impact on the photophysical properties: both absorption and fluorescence emission show bathochromic and hyperchromic shifts with increasing number of repeating units in the dipolar planar derivatives (n=1–2) but show saturation effects in the helicoidal structures (n=2–4). In addition, the helicoidal structures show sizeable two‐photon absorption at 700–750 nm (40–100 GM) for compounds lacking either electron‐donating or electron‐withdrawing substituents.  相似文献

A novel strategy to develop polysilanes functionalized with a high density of nonlinear optical chromophores has been explored. Thus a polysilane with phenyl and N,N‐dialkylsubstituted aniline as pendant groups was synthesized under standard conditions for the Wurtz reductive coupling, and the post azo coupling of p‐nitrobenzenediazonium fluoroborate towards the aniline groups afforded a dispersed red (DR) chromophore‐functionalized polysilane (P2). The poled film of P2 reveals a resonant d33 value of 19 pm/V by second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements.  相似文献

Electro‐optic side‐chain polymers have been synthesized by the post‐functionalization of methacrylate isocyanate polymers with novel phenyl vinylene thiophene vinylene bridge (FTC) nonlinear optical chromophores. For this application, FTC‐based chromophores were modified in their electronic donor structure, exhibiting much larger molecular hyperpolarizabilities compared with the benchmark FTC. Of these new chromophores, absorption spectra, hyper‐Rayleigh scattering experiment, and thermal analysis were carried out to confirm availability as effective nonlinear optical units for electro‐optic side‐chain polymers. The electro‐optic coefficients (r33) of obtained polymers were investigated in the process of in situ poling by monitoring the temperature, current flow, poling field, and electro‐optic signal. Compared with the nonsubstituted analogue, benxyloxy modified FTC chromophore significantly achieved higher nonlinear optical property, exhibiting molecular hyperpolarizability at 1.9 μm of 4600 × 10?30 esu and an r33 value of 150 pm/V at the wavelength of 1.31 μm. Synthesized electro‐optic polymers showed high glass transition temperature (Tg), so that the temporal stability examination exhibited >78% of the electro‐optic intensity remaining at 85 °C over 500 h. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Five new multi‐branched two‐photon absorption triazine chromophores ( T1 – T5 ) with different donor strength, conjugation length, and direction of charge transfer have been designed and synthesized. The one‐photon fluorescence, fluorescence quantum yields, and two‐photon properties have been investigated. The two‐photon absorption (2PA) cross sections measured by the open aperture Z‐scan technique were determined to be 447, 854, 1023, 603, and 766 GM for T1 , T2 , T3 , T4 , and T5 , respectively. This result indicates that their 2PA cross section values (σ) increase with increasing electron‐donating strength of the end group, extending the conjugation length of the system, and introducing electron‐withdrawing perfluoroalkyl as side groups to the end donor. In addition, the σ value of T5 is also larger than that of T1 , which provides evidence that the σ value is relative to the direction of charge transfer (from the ends to the center of the molecule or from the center to the ends). Moreover, significant enhancement of the two‐photon absorption cross section was achieved by introducing a thiophene moiety to a conjugated CC bond. At the same time, the optical limiting behavior for these chromophores was studied by using a focused 800 nm laser beam with pulses of 140 fs duration. It was found that these molecules also exhibit good optical limiting properties. These initial results clearly demonstrate that multi‐branched triazine chromophores are a highly suitable class of two‐photon absorbing materials.  相似文献

本文理论上研究了两个系列的噻吩基卟啉衍生物,这种衍生物在可见光区具有大的双光子吸收截面。用密度泛函理论和ZINDO-SOS方法,计算了分子的几何构型、电子结构,单光子和双光子吸收性质。结果显示噻吩单元的数目影响分子的单光子和双光子吸收性质。具有两个或三个噻吩基团的噻吩基卟啉衍生物在较大范围内具有可用于实际应用中的双光子吸收响应,这一性质有利于这类分子在光限幅中的应用。插入乙炔基有利于扩大共轭范围,增加分子的双光子吸收截面。同时,乙炔基团的加入导致了单光子和双光子波长的红移。从高透明性和相对大的非线性光学响应考虑,噻吩基卟啉衍生物是一类有应用前景的双光子吸收材料。  相似文献

A one‐pot synthetic route based on copper‐catalyzed Huisgen reaction has been developed to functionalize a methacrylate propargylic polymer with azido‐substituted moieties. This procedure was used for the preparation of electro‐optic materials containing well‐known Disperse Red One (DR1) chromophores along with bulky adamantyl moieties (Adam). The postfunctionalization of the propargylic polymer was successfully achieved using different molar ratios of DR1/Adam. These novel polymers exhibit high glass transition temperature owing to the rigid structure of adamantyl units. Moreover, the second harmonic generation measurements demonstrated the effectiveness of adamantyl groups to act as insulating shield limiting thus the electrostatic interactions between chromophores. Indeed, higher optimal chromophore concentration (50 mol %) than in conventional DR1‐containing polymers (30 mol %) allowed us to increase the d33 coefficient up to 92 pm/V. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three two‐photon absorption (TPA) tribranched chromophores were successfully prepared, in which 1,3,5‐triazine is been as electron deficient core, 1,4‐phenylenedivinylene as conjugated bridge, 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) ( T1 ), N‐methylpyrrole ( T2 ) or triphenylamine ( T3 ) as electron‐donating end‐groups. Their photophysical properties were studied by absorption, one‐ and two‐photon fluorescence and TPA cross‐section determination. The nonlinear transmission (NLT) measurement in femtoseconds (fs) regime at 800 nm indicates that TPA cross‐section (2 values of T1 , T2 and T3 with extended Π‐conjugated bridge are much larger than the corresponding chromophore T4 with a short length bridge, and TPA cross‐section of T1 with end‐groups EDOT exhibits a remarkable enhancement compared with T2 and T3 having the same length Π‐system. The chromophores T1 , T2 and T3 show also remarkable up‐converted luminescence and optical limiting activity.  相似文献

Novel tripodal derivatives with a triphenylamine core and that bear “superacidifiers” (i.e., fluorinated sulfoximinyl blocks) or novel sulfiliminyl moieties as peripheral groups were synthesized. These new chromophores show strong absorption in the near‐UV region and emission in the visible region. The fluorinated sulfoximinyl moieties were found to behave as potent auxochromic and electron‐withdrawing (EW) groups, thus leading to redshifted absorption and emission. These moieties promote a core‐to‐periphery intramolecular charge transfer (ctp‐ICT) transition, the energy of which was found to be correlated to their EW strength. In this study, we provide evidence of a linear correlation between the Hammett constant (σp) values and the electronic gap between the ground and first excited state of the three‐branched derivatives. This in turn was used to derive σp values of fluorinated sulfoximinyl moieties. These EWGs show unprecedentedly high σp values, up to 1.45 relative to 0.8 for NO2. Also, by using this method, the sulfiliminyl moiety was shown to exhibit similar EW strength as NO2, while promoting improved transparency and solubility. Finally, the superior EW strength of the fluorinated sulfoximine peripheral moieties was shown to induce significant enhancement of the two‐photon absorption responses in the red near‐IR region of the three‐branched derivatives relative to similar octupoles that bear more usual strong EW groups. These characteristics (improved nonlinear responses or transparency) open new routes for the design of nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores for optical limiting or electro‐optical modulation. Such building blocks could also be of interest for optoelectronic applications, including the development of solar cells.  相似文献

Novel chromophores Ch1–8 based verbenone bridge with various strong donors and acceptors were designed for applications in nonlinear optics, and the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of those verbenone-type chromophores were systematically investigated using the bond length alteration (BLA) theory, two states model (TSM) and sum-over-states (SOS) model. The results show that several verbenone-based chromophores possess remarkably large molecular second-order hyperpolarizabilities, which is due to its electron distribution close to the cyanine limit, the appropriate strength of acceptor, rather large change in dipole moment and low excitation energy. Computed hyperpolarizability (βtot) of Ch6 also approach an outstanding 2922 × 10−30 esu in TFE. The hyperpolarizability density analyses and two states model (TSM) were carried out to make a further insight into the origination of molecular nonlinearity of this unique system, suggesting that tuning structure of acceptor and polarity of the medium have great influence on the second-order nonlinear optical properties. More importantly, chromophores Ch1–Ch8 exhibited distinct features in two-dimensional second order NLO responses, and the strong electro-optical Pockels effect and optical rectification responses. The excellent electronic sum frequency generations (SFG) and difference frequency generations (DFG) effect are observed in these verbenone-type chromophores. These chromophores have a possibility to be appealing second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) materials, data storage materials and DSSCs materials from the standpoint of large β values, high LHE, and excellent two-dimensional second order NLO responses.  相似文献

The synthesis of the new chromophores 2‐{4‐[4‐(N,N‐dihydroxyethylamino)‐phenylazo]‐phenyl}‐6‐nitrobenzoxazole ( 1 ) and 4‐[4‐(N,N‐dihydroxyethylamino)phenylazo]‐benzoic acid ( 2 ) is described. Three homopolymers obtained by the polycondensation of 1 with propyloxy‐terephthalic acid and 1 and 2 with 2,4‐tolylenediisocianate as well as two copolymers obtained by polycondensation of appropriate mixtures of chromophores 1 and 2 with 2,4‐tolylene‐diisocianate were prepared and characterized. All as‐prepared polymers but one (homopolyurethane of 1 ) were amorphous and exhibited good optical clarity, good thermal stability above the glass transition, and solubility in organic solvents. The second‐order nonlinear optical behavior of the amorphous polymers was investigated on spin‐coated corona‐poled films through second harmonic generation (SHG) experiments at 1064 nm. At this wavelength, resonance‐enhanced values of the SHG coefficient d33 were found in the range between 6 and 34 pm/V where higher values were observed for polymers with a higher molar content of 1 . © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Some thermally stable second‐order nonlinear optical (NLO) polyimides were synthesized. The polyimides were prepared by the ring‐opening polyaddition of 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic anhydride and pyromellitic dianhydride with two aromatic azodiamine derivatives as the NLO chromophores. These chromophores, based on a nitro group connected with azobenzene as the acceptor end of a donor–π‐bridge–acceptor chromophore and a diamine group as the donor end, had specific chemical stability. On the basis of ZERNER'S INDO methods, according to the sum‐over‐states formula, a program for the calculation of nonlinear second‐order optical susceptibilities was devised. The resulting polyimides had high number‐average and weight‐average molecular weights of up to 26,000 and 53,500, respectively, and a large glass‐transition temperature of 248 °C. With an in situ poling and temperature ramping technique, the optimal temperatures (Topt's) for corona poling were obtained for the largest second‐order NLO response. The electrooptic coefficient (γ33) of a polyimide at a wavelength of 830 nm was up to 21 pm/V after corona poling under its Topt, and the value remained at elevated temperatures (>90.6% was retained at 240 °C for >120 h). This article presents the synthesis of nonlinear optical responsive chromophores by adopting a green chemistry approach by coupling N‐methyl‐N‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐4‐amino benzaldehyde with barbituric acid, 1,3‐indanedione, and 1,3‐diethyl‐2‐thiobarbituric acid as the acceptors through stilbene linkage. We performed the synthesis in less than 10 minutes at room temperature with water as a solvent without catalyst. Two different side‐chain polyimides were synthesized from poly(hydroxy‐imide)s with chromophores by Mitsunobu reaction. The chromophores were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental analysis. However, the polyimides were characterized by Fourier transform infrared and 1H NMR. The inherent viscosities (ηinh) of polyimides were determined by Ubbelohde viscometer, which ranged between 0.1793 and 0.1890 dL/g. The molecular weights of the polyimides were determined using gel permeation chromatography and were in range of 23 000 to 26 000. Polyimides demonstrated an excellent solubility in polar aprotic solvents, indicating good processability. Thermal behavior of these polyimides was studied by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. The Tg's were in the range of 185°C to 255°C. The change in the molecular orientation in the polymer films after electrical poling was ascertained using ultraviolet‐visible spectrophotometer and atomic force microscopy. The thicknesses and refractive indices of the thin films were determined by an ellipsometer. The second harmonic generation coefficients of the corona‐poled polymer films at Topt's, determined by the Maker fringe technique, ranged between 59.33 and 77.82 pm/V. High thermal endurance observed for the polyimides is attributed to the extensive hydrogen bonds in the matrix. The developed polyimides showed no decay in second harmonic generation signals below 110°C, indicating the acceptance for nonlinear optical devices.  相似文献

Two new polysiloxanes ( P1 and P2 ) with a high density of sulfonyl‐based chromophores were prepared by a new two‐step method. Poly[methyl‐3‐(9‐carbazolyl)propyl siloxane] was partially formulated by the standard Vilsmeier reaction, and formyl groups of high reactivity were condensed with cyanoacetylated chromophores; this yielded polysiloxanes P1 and P2 in almost complete conversions. Their structures were verified with 1H NMR, IR, and ultraviolet–visible spectra. P1 and P2 exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents and were thermally stable. The maximum absorptions appeared at about 452 and 390 nm for P1 and P2 , respectively, in tetrahydrofuran; they were blueshifted about 42 and 8 nm, respectively, in comparison with those of the corresponding chromophores with a nitro acceptor and resulted in a wider transparency window. The P1 values of the nonlinear optical coefficient (d33), measured by in situ second harmonic generation, was 16.2 pm/V. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We synthesized new nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores containing a 3,5‐bis(3,5‐bisbenzyloxy‐benzyloxy)‐benzoate dendron. Tricyanopyrroline (TCP)‐based chromophores were designed and prepared by virtue of its strong electron withdrawing property. A soluble polyimide containing 6‐({4‐[2‐(1‐allyl‐4‐cyano‐5‐dicyanomethylene‐2‐oxo‐2,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrrol‐3‐yl)‐vinyl]‐phenyl}‐butyl‐amino)‐hexanoyl group in the side chain was also prepared as an NLO active host polymer. A benzoate dendron was tethered at two different binding positions of the chromophore to yield two different guest molecules. Thin‐film composites of these dendronized chromophores dissolved in the NLO active polyimide host were employed to fabricate the electro‐optic (EO) samples. The EO properties of new NLO polyimides containing dendronized chromophores were compared with those of the sample with nondendronized plain chromophores. Fusion of two N‐annulated perylene (NP) units with a fused porphyrin dimer along the S0–S1 electronic transition moment axis has resulted in new near‐infrared (NIR) dyes 1 a / 1 b with very intense absorption (ε>1.3×105 M ?1 cm?1) beyond 1250 nm. Both compounds displayed moderate NIR fluorescence with fluorescence quantum yields of 4.4×10?6 and 6.0×10?6 for 1 a and 1 b , respectively. The NP‐substituted porphyrin dimers 2 a / 2 b have also been obtained by controlled oxidative coupling and cyclodehydrogenation, and they showed superimposed absorptions of the fused porphyrin dimer and the NP chromophore. The excited‐state dynamics of all of these compounds have been studied by femtosecond transient absorption measurements, which revealed porphyrin dimer‐like behaviour. These new chromophores also exhibited good nonlinear optical susceptibility with large two‐photon absorption cross‐sections in the NIR region due to extended π‐conjugation. Time‐dependent density functional theory calculations have been performed to aid our understanding of their electronic structures and absorption spectra.  相似文献

Density functional theory calculations have been carried out on nonconjugated D‐π‐A chromophores to investigate the different electron donors and conjugated bridges effects on the molecular nonlinear optical response. The results show that the large second‐order polarizability values can be achieved through careful combination of available electron donors, conjugated bridges for our studied nonconjugated D‐π‐A chromophores. The calculations also provide a clear explanation for the second‐order polarizability changes from the standpoint of transition energies, oscillator strengths, electron density difference, and bond length alternation. Solvent effect has great influence on the second‐order polarizability and electronic absorption spectrum. 设计、合成了含羟乙基活性基团的噻唑类非线性生色分子, 用IR, EA, 1H MNR, UV-Vis和DSC-TG等对其结构和性能进行了表征, 用超瑞利散射技术测定了其二阶极化率. 结果表明: 两种噻唑类生色分子具有较高的β值, 在波长1064 nm处, β分别为5.60×10-28和5.76×10-28 esu, 其最大吸收波长都未超过600 nm, 截止波长均小于710 nm, 生色分子的热分解温度分别为 224和216 ℃, 具有较好的热稳定性, 可用于制备性能优异的非线性光学材料.  相似文献

Novel functional hyperbranched poly(aryl ether ketone)s(HPAEKs) bonded with nonlinear optical chromophores(meso-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl) porphyrin, THPP and its metal derivatives) were synthesized and characterized by 1H-NMR and UV-Vis absorption spectra. The incorporation of chromophores into HPAEKs endowed HPAEKs novel NLO and OL properties. Indeed, dendritic architecture allowed for maximum dispersion of the chromophores, avoided aggregation, more optical limiting property was obtained. Simultaneously, they retained the excellent properties of the materials, particularly in thermal stability. Their optical properties were evaluated by nonlinear optical analyses and optical limiting. The results showed that these polymers possessed good optical limiting(OL) property and large nonlinear optical(NLO) susceptibilities(ca. 10 12esu). All polymers containing chromophores presented excellent thermal stability(DT5 524.17 °C).  相似文献
