Given a convex subset C of n, the set-valued mapping C (where 0C is, by convention, the recession cone of C) is increasing on + if and only if C contains the origin, and decreasing on + if and only if C is contained in its recession cone. This simple fact enables us to define a binary operation which combines a concave or convex function on m with a convex subset of n to produce a convex subset of n+m. This binary operation is the set theoretic counterpart of a functional operation introduced by the author. In the open unit disk E={z, ¦z¦<1} we consider the class of regular functions q(z) = 1 + 2(1 = )e1zn + 2pn+kzn+k + ..., Re q(z)>, , [0, 1), [0, 2] and fixed, n, kN; fixing zE, we construct the range of the functional I0=q(z). We find an analog of V. A. Functional Gaussian integrals relative to a Wiener measure are considered, where both the integrand and the integration measure depend on some parameter . Asymptotic relations are obtained for such integrals for –1/2 ( is the deviation), when and tend to 0. Brugesser and Mani proved that the boundary-complex of a convex polytope can be shelled. This result lead to McMullen's proof of the Upper-bound-conjecture. We show that the shellability of complexes has a close connection to the theory of stellar operations. Several results on special shelling procedures and on non-shellable complexes are obtained.  相似文献

The fractional Brownian density process is a continuous centered Gaussian ( d )-valued process which arises as a high-density fluctuation limit of a Poisson system of independent d-dimensional fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter H. ( ( d ) is the space of tempered distributions). The main result proved in the paper is that if the intensity measure of the (initial) Poisson random measure on d is either the Lebesgue measure or a finite measure, then the density process has self-intersection local time of order k 2 if and only if Hd < k/(k – 1). The latter is also the necessary and sufficient condition for existence of multiple points of order k for d-dimensional fractional Brownian motion, as proved by Talagrand12. This result extends to a non-Markovian case the relationship known for (Markovian) symmetric -stable Lévy processes and their corresponding density processes. New methods are used in order to overcome the lack of Markov property. Other properties of the fractional Brownian density process are also given, in particular the non-semimartingale property in the case H 1/2, which is obtained by a general criterion for the non-semimartingale property of real Gaussian processes that we also prove.  相似文献

A quantity of particular interest is the condition number of -1 S. If the yi are Gaussian and S is the sample covariance matrix, the condition number of -1 S, i.e. the ratio of its extreme eigenvalues, equals 1 + Op((q/n)1/2) as q and q/n 0. The present paper shows that the same result can be achieved with two estimators based on Tyler's (1987, Ann. Statist., 15, 234-251) M-functional of scatter, assuming only elliptical symmetry of (yi) or less. The main tool is a linear expansion for this M-functional which holds uniformly in the dimension q. As a by-product we obtain continuous Fréchet-differentiability with respect to weak convergence.  相似文献

In this case, the polynomials Pm (x), PM (l) (x) with l aj are two-sided approximations of the function f(1) in the neighborhood of the node xj and the integrals of the polynomials Pm(x), PM(x) over Dj are two-sided approximations of the integral of the function f (over Dj). If the multiplicities aj aj + yj of the nodes xj are even, then this is also true for integrals over the set j= µ k Dj µ 1, k n. Distributions having compact support are represented as the boundary value of Cauchy and Poisson integrals corresponding to tubular radial domains TC in n where C is an open convex cone. The Cauchy integral of U is shown to be an analytic function in TC which satifies a certain boundedness condition. All analytic functions in TC having this boundedness condition have a distributional boundary value which can be used to determine an distribution. Summary In this paper a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of negative eigenvalues for the problem-u – u=(x)¦u¦p–2u in u¦=0 is given. Here Rn is supposed a smooth bounded domain, 0 a bounded nonnegative function, (1, 2), 1 and 1 being the first and the second eigenvalue of - in with zero Dirichlet boundary data, p2 and, if n 3, p < 2n¦(n–2). We consider the (&, )-fragment of the intuitionistic propositional calculus. It is proved that under the standard transformation of a Gentzen derivation into a natural derivation(), the length of (())22·length( ). We develop an efficient automatic quadrature procedure for numerically computing the integrals a K(t)f(t) and a L(t)f(t)dt, where the functionf(t) is smooth and nonoscillatory at infinity. One such example for which we also provide numerical results is that for whichK(x)=J (x) andL(x)=Y (x), whereJ (x) andY (x) are the Bessel functions of order . The procedure involves the use of an automatic scheme for Fourier integrals and the modified W-transformation which is used for computing oscillatory infinite integrals.  相似文献
