In this paper, we are concerned with stroboscopic averaging for highly oscillatory evolution equations posed in a Banach space. Using Taylor expansion, we construct a non‐oscillatory high‐order system whose solution remains exponentially close to the exact one over a long time. We then apply this result to the nonlinear wave equation in one dimension. We present the stroboscopic averaging method, which is a numerical method introduced by Chartier, Murua and Sanz‐Serna, and apply it to our problem. Finally, we conclude by presenting the qualitative and quantitative efficiency of this numerical method for some nonlinear wave problem. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The objective of this article is to establish an oscillation criterion for all solutions of nonlinear difference equation where r(η) $$ r\left(\eta \right) $$ is a sequence of nonnegative real numbers and φ(η) $$ \varphi \left(\eta \right) $$ is not necessarily monotone sequence. Transition waves and interactions between two kinds of instability—vortex shedding and transition wave in the near wake of a circular cylinder in the Reynolds number range 3 000–10 000 are studied by a domain decomposition hybrid numerical method. Based on high resolution power spectral analyses for velocity new results on the Reynolds-number dependence of the transition wave frequency, i.e.f t /fs∼Re0.87 are obtained. The new predictions are in good agreement with the experimental results of Wei and Smith but different from Braza s prediction and some early experimental resultsf t/fsRe 0.5 given by Blooret al. The multi-interactions between two kinds of vortex are clearly visualized numerically. The strong nonlinear interactions between the two independent frequencies (f t,f s ) leading to spectra broadening to form the couplingmf s +nf t are predicted and analyzed numerically, and the characteristics of the transition are described. Longitudinal variations of the transition wave and its coupling are reported. Detailed mechanism of the flow transition in the near wake before occurrence of the thedimensional evolution is provided. In this article, we consider the existence of local and global solution to the Cauchy problem of a doubly nonlinear equation. By introducing the norms |||f||| h and 〈fh, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions on the initial value to the existence of local solution of doubly nonlinear equation. By using the method of dynamical systems, for the nonlinear surface wind waves equation, which is given by Manna, we study its dynamical behavior to determine all exact explicit traveling wave solutions. To guarantee the existence of the aforementioned solutions, all parameter conditions are determined. Our procedure shows that the nonlinear surface wind waves equation has no peakon solution. We investigate the dynamics of the vertically forced Duffing oscillator with suspended tuned mass absorber. Three different types of tuned mass absorbers are taken into consideration, i.e., classical single pendulum, dual pendulum and pendulum-spring. We numerically adjust parameters of absorbers to obtain the best damping properties with the lowest mass of attached system. The modification of classical case (single pendulum) gives the decrease of Duffing system amplitude. We present strategy of parameters tuning which can be easily applied in a large class of systems.  相似文献

This paper deals with the standing waves for a class of coupled nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations with space dimension N ≥ 3, 0 〈 p, q 〈 2/N-2 and p + q 〈 4/N. By using the variational calculus and scaling argument, we establish the existence of standing waves with ground state, discuss the behavior of standing waves as a function of the frequency ω and give the sufficient conditions of the stability of the standing waves with the least energy for the equations under study.  相似文献

Two autonomous, nonlinear, third-order ordinary differential equations whose dynamics can be represented by second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations for the first-order derivative of the solution are studied analytically and numerically. The analytical study includes both the obtention of closed-form solutions and the use of an artificial parameter method that provides approximations to both the solution and the frequency of oscillations. It is shown that both the analytical solution and the accuracy of the artificial parameter method depend greatly on the sign of the nonlinearities and the initial value of the first-order derivative.  相似文献

We study the robustness of minimax controllers, originally designed for nominal linear or nonlinear systems, to unknown static nonlinear perturbations in the state dynamics, measurement equation, and performance index. When the nominal system is linear, we consider both perfect state measurements and general imperfect state measurements; in the case of nominally nonlinear systems, we consider perfect state measurements only. Using a differential game theoretic approach, we show for the former class that, as the perturbation parameter (say, >0) approaches zero, the optimal disturbance attenuation level for the overall system converges to the optimal disturbance attenuation level for the nominal system if the nonlinear structural uncertainties satisfy certain prescribed growth conditions. We also show that anH -controller, designed based on a chosen performance level for the nominal linear system, achieves the same performance level when the parameter is smaller than a computable threshold, except for the finite-horizon imperfect state measurements case. For that case, we show that the design of the nominal controller must be based on a decreased confidence level of the initial data, and a controller thus designed again achieves a desired performance level in the face of nonlinear perturbations satisfying a computable norm bound. In the case of nominally nonlinear systems, and assuming that the nominal system is solvable, we obtain sufficient conditions such that the nominal controller achieves a desired performance in the face of perturbations satisfying computable norm bounds. In this way, we provide a characterization of the class of uncertainties that are tolerable for a controller designed based on the nominal system. A new approach, namely the global residue harmonic balance method, was advanced to determine the accurate analytical approximate periodic solution of a class of strongly nonlinear oscillators. A class of nonlinear jerk equation containing velocity-cubed and velocity times displacements-squared was taken as a typical example. Unlike other harmonic balance methods, all the former residual errors are introduced in the present approximation to improve the accuracy. Comparison of the result obtained using this approach with the exact one and simplicity and efficiency of the proposed procedure. The method can be easily extended to other strongly nonlinear oscillators.  相似文献
