In the present paper, the electrodeposition of Al on flame-annealed Au(111) and polycrystalline Au substrates in two air- and water-stable ionic liquids namely, 1-butyl-1-methyl-pyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide, [Py(1,4)]Tf(2)N, and 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide, [EMIm]Tf(2)N, has been investigated by in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM), and cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammogram of aluminum deposition and stripping on Au(111) in the upper phase of the biphasic mixture of AlCl(3)/[EMIm]Tf(2)N at room temperature (25 degrees C) shows that the electrodeposition process is completely reversible as also evidenced by in situ STM and EQCM studies. Additionally, a cathodic peak at an electrode potential of about 0.55 V vs Al/Al(III) is correlated to the aluminum UPD process that was evidenced by in situ STM. A surface alloying of Al with Au at the early stage of deposition occurs. It has been found that the Au(111) surface is subject to a restructuring/reconstruction in the upper phase of the biphasic mixture of AlCl(3)/[Py(1,4)]Tf(2)N at room temperature (25 degrees C) and that the deposition is not fully reversible. Furthermore, the underpotential deposition of Al in [Py(1,4)]Tf(2)N is not as clear as in [EMIm]Tf(2)N. The frequency shift in the EQCM experiments in [Py(1,4)]Tf(2)N shows a surprising result as an increase in frequency and a decrease in damping with bulk aluminum deposition at potentials more negative than -1.8 V was observed at room temperature. However, at 100 degrees C there is a frequency decrease with ongoing Al deposition. At -2.0 V vs Al/Al(III), a bulk aluminum deposition sets in.  相似文献

The viscosity of imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) saturated with gaseous, liquid and supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) was measured by a high-pressure viscometer at three different temperatures (25, 50, and 70 °C). The high-pressure viscosity of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ([EMIm]), 1-n-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium ([HMIm]), and 1-n-decyl-3-methylimidazolium ([DMIm]) cations with a common anion, bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide ([Tf2N]), saturated with CO2 was measured up to a maximum of 287 bar. As CO2 pressure is increased the viscosity of the IL mixture dramatically decreases. While, the ambient pressure viscosity of 1-alkyl-3-methyl-imidazolium [Tf2N] ILs increases significantly with increasing chain length, the viscosity of all the CO2-saturated ILs becomes very similar at high CO2 pressures. From previous vapor–liquid equilibrium data, the viscosity with concentration was determined and found to be the primary factor to describe the fractional viscosity reduction. Several predictive and correlative methods were investigated for the mixture viscosity given pure component properties and include arithmetic mixing rules, the Irving (Predictive Arrhenius) model, Grunberg equation, etc. The modified Grunberg model with one adjustable parameter provided an adequate fit to the data.  相似文献

In this work we report molecular mechanics and ab initio calculations on the geminal di-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide ionic liquid in the gas phase. We report the likely energetically preferred geometries of the ionic complex and its main features in terms of charge distribution, electronic density, structure, and energetics. We find that the gas phase structure of the ionic complex is quite compact and that the alkyl chain connecting the two imidazolium charged rings is strongly bent in order to maximize their electrostatic interactions with the two anions.  相似文献

The thermophysical properties of 1-alkylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [Cnpy][Tf2N] ionic liquids where n = 4, 8, 10, or 12 have been determined. Density ρ, and dynamic viscosity η, were determined at T = (293.15 to 353.15) K and refractive index nD, was measured at T = (293.15 to 333.15) K. Empirical correlations are proposed to represent the present experimental results. The values of the coefficient of thermal expansion were calculated from the experimental density values. The thermal decomposition temperature, Td was also determined using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) at a heating rate of (10 and 20) K · min?1.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) miscibility temperatures as a function of composition have been determined experimentally for the binary systems formed by imidazolium based ionic liquids with bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([CnMIM][NTf2]: n = 3 to 10) with fluorobenzene, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, iodobenzene and 1,2-dichlorobenzene. In addition, the phase diagrams for deuterated chlorobenzene, bromobenzene and 1,2-dichlorobenzene have been obtained. All the measured systems show the limited miscibility with the upper critical solution temperature behavior. Similarly to the other systems with the imidazolium cation the increase of the alkyl chain length in this cation improves the miscibility. The impact of the halogenobenzene is also very visible. The miscibility is improving in the order: iodobenzene < bromobenzene < chlorobenzene < fluorobenzene. This arrangement corresponds to the decreasing molar volume of the substituted benzenes. The disubstituted chlorobenzene is a better solvent for ionic liquids than chlorobenzene. The replacement of hydrogen for deuterium in halogenobenzenes in all cases improves the miscibility and the isotope shifts of the UCSTs are very large.  相似文献

Ionic liquids (ILs) and carbon dioxide (CO2) systems have unique phase behavior that has been applied to applications in reactions, extractions, materials, etc. Detailed phase equilibria and modeling are highly desired for their further development. In this work, the (vapor + liquid) equilibrium, (vapor + liquid + liquid) equilibrium, and (liquid + liquid) equilibrium of n-alkyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide ionic liquids with CO2 were measured at temperatures of (298.15, 323.15, 343.15) K and pressure up to 25 MPa. With a constant anion of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide, the n-alkyl chain length on the cation was varied from 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium ([EMIm][Tf2N]), 1-hexyl-3-methyl-imidazolium ([HMIm][Tf2N]), to 1-decyl-3-methyl-imidazolium ([DMIm][Tf2N]). The effects of the cation on the phase behavior and CO2 solubility were investigated. The longer alkyl chain lengths increase the CO2 solubility. The Peng–Robinson equation of state with van der Waals 2-parameter mixing rule with estimated IL critical properties were used to model and correlate the experimental data. The models correlate the (vapor + liquid) equilibrium and (liquid + liquid) equilibrium very well. However, extrapolation of the model to much higher pressures (>30 MPa) can results in the prediction of a mixture critical point which, as of yet, has not been found in the literature.  相似文献

Reaction of C(60) with CF(3)I at 550 degrees C, which is known to produce a single isomer of C(60)(CF(3))(2,4,6) and multiple isomers of C(60)(CF(3))(8,10), has now been found to produce an isomer of C(60)(CF(3))(6) with the C(s)-C(60)X(6) skew-pentagonal-pyramid (SPP) addition pattern and an epoxide with the C(s)-C(60)X(4)O variation of the SPP addition pattern, C(s)-C(60)(CF(3))(4)O. The structurally similar epoxide C(s)-C(60)(C(2)F(5))(4)O is one of the products of the reaction of C(60) with C(2)F(5)I at 430 degrees C. The three compounds have been characterized by mass spectrometry, DFT quantum chemical calculations, Raman, visible, and (19)F NMR spectroscopy, and, in the case of the two epoxides, single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound C(s)-C(60)(CF(3))(6) is the first [60]fullerene derivative with adjacent R(f) groups that are sufficiently sterically hindered to cause the (DFT-predicted) lengthening of the cage (CF(3))C-C(CF(3)) bond to 1.60 A as well as to give rise to a rare, non-fast-exchange-limit (19)F NMR spectrum at 20 degrees C. The compounds C(s)-C(60)(CF(3))(4)O and C(s)-C(60)(C(2)F(5))(4)O are the first poly(perfluoroalkyl)fullerene derivatives with a non-fluorine-containing exohedral substituent and the first fullerene epoxides known to be stable at elevated temperatures. All three compounds demonstrate that the SPP addition pattern is at least kinetically stable, if not thermodynamically stable, at temperatures exceeding 400 degrees C. The high-temperature synthesis of the two epoxides also indicates that perfluoroalkyl substituents can enhance the thermal stability of fullerene derivatives with other substituents.  相似文献

The phosphorus-containing ionic liquids (IL) decompose where ion pairs fall apart. Trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium decanoate, sold as Cyphos IL 103, and Trihexyltetradecylphosphonium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl] amide, sold as Cyphos IL 109, decompose in 200–475 °C range in air and the fragments containing organophosphorus are found here among other major fragments of hydrocarbon arms. Black residues are found after heating in air to 740 °C in TG in 5.0 and 0.6 mass/% for Cyphos IL 103 and 109, respectively. They were presumably containing P2O5 after oxidation. Not all the phosphorus can be counted for at 740 °C and falls short of calculated values of 10.9 and 9.3 mass/%, if residues contain nothing else but P2O5. Among the fragments the authors found in MS the organophosphorus fragments from decomposition of the cationic C32 H68 P + including P with 3–4 hydrocarbon attached as well as the major fragments of linear hydrocarbon arms. Water evolves early at lower temperature and continues to 740 °C. CO2 comes from oxidation of carbon at high temperatures. The SO, SO2, CF3, CF2CF2 evolve in sulfur and fluorine containing anion in Cyphos IL 109. H3PO4 is detected, which is most likely from the reaction product of P2O5 and water. No P2O5 was found. Ash content examined by inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP) found that the phosphorus P in the ashes after burning in air to 700 °C and found 3200 ppm (or 0.62 mass/%) and 30 ppm (0.003 mass/%) in Cyphos IL 103 and 109, respectively.  相似文献

Dynamic viscosities of several members of the 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide, [Cnmim][NTf2], ionic liquids family, with the cation alkyl side-chain length varying from 2 to 14 carbon atoms, have been measured in the 278.15 K to 393.15 K temperature range using two different apparatuses. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time that such an extensive assessment of viscosity - in terms of the number of compounds of a single ionic liquid homologous series, of the broad range of temperature covered, and the use of two different experimental techniques - is reported. The use of two different instruments, using different methodologies, provides information about the uncertainties in the measurement of viscosity of ionic liquids, including its dependence on the presence of traces of water and other impurities. An extensive critical analysis of the deviations between the data measured in this work and those reported in literature has been carried out.  相似文献

In this work, the nucleophilicities of chloride, bromide, and iodide have been determined in the ionic liquids [bmim][N(Tf)(2)], [bm(2)im][N(Tf)(2)], and [bmpy][N(Tf)(2)] (where bmim = 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium, bm(2)im = 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium, bmpy = 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium, and N(Tf)(2) = bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide). It was found that in the [bmim](+) ionic liquid, chloride was the least nucleophilic halide, but that changing the cation of the ionic liquid affected the relative nucleophilicities of the halides. The activation parameters DeltaH(), DeltaS(), and DeltaG() have been estimated for the reaction of chloride in each ionic liquid, and compared to a similar reaction in dichloromethane, where these parameters were found for reaction by both the free ion and the ion pair.  相似文献

We study how the degree of fluorine substitution for hydrogen atoms in ethene affects its reactivity in the gas phase. The reactions of a series of small fluorocarbon cations (CF(+), CF(2)(+), CF(3)(+), and C(2)F(4)(+)) with ethene (C(2)H(4)), monofluoroethene (C(2)H(3)F), 1,1-difluoroethene (CH(2)CF(2)), and trifluoroethene (C(2)HF(3)) have been studied in a selected ion flow tube. Rate coefficients and product cations with their branching ratios were determined at 298 K. Because the recombination energy of CF(2)(+) exceeds the ionization energy of all four substituted ethenes, the reactions of this ion produce predominantly the products of nondissociative charge transfer. With their lower recombination energies, charge transfer in the reactions of CF(+), CF(3)(+), and C(2)F(4)(+) is always endothermic, so products can only be produced by reactions in which bonds form and break within a complex. The trends observed in the results of the reactions of CF(+) and CF(3)(+) may partially be explained by the changing value of the dipole moment of the three fluoroethenes, where the cation preferentially attacks the more nucleophilic part of the molecule. Reactions of CF(3)(+) and C(2)F(4)(+) are significantly slower than those of CF(+) and CF(2)(+), with adducts being formed with the former cations. The reactions of C(2)F(4)(+) with the four neutral titled molecules are complex, giving a range of products. All can be characterized by a common first step in the mechanism in which a four-carbon chain intermediate is formed. Thereafter, arrow-pushing mechanisms as used by organic chemists can explain a number of the different products. Using the stationary electron convention, an upper limit for Δ(f)H°(298)(C(3)F(2)H(3)(+), with structure CF(2)═CH-CH(2)(+)) of 628 kJ mol(-1) and a lower limit for Δ(f)H°(298)(C(2)F(2)H(+), with structure CF(2)═CH(+)) of 845 kJ mol(-1) are determined.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium data for the ionic liquids 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [EMim][NTf2], 1-propyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [PMim][NTf2], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [BMim][NTf2], and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [HMim][NTf2], mixed with ethanol and heptane were studied at T = 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The ability of these ionic liquids as solvents for the extraction of ethanol from heptane was evaluated in terms of selectivity and solute distribution ratio. Moreover, density and refractive index values over the miscible region for the ternary mixtures were also measured at T = 313.15 K. Finally, the experimental data were correlated with the Non Random Two Liquids (NRTL) and UNIversal QUAsi Chemical (UNIQUAC) thermodynamic models, and an exhaustive comparison with available literature data of the studied systems was carried out.  相似文献

The thermophysical properties of 1-hexyl-3-methyl imidazolium based hydrophobic room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs); with tetrafluoroborate (BF4), hexafluorophosphate (PF6), and bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (Tf2N) anions, namely density ρ (298.15 to 348.15) K, dynamic viscosity η (288.2 to 348.2) K, surface tension σ (298.15 to 338) K, and refractive index nD (302.95 to 332.95) K have been measured. The coefficients of thermal expansion αp values were calculated from the experimental density data using an empirical correlation. The thermal stability of all ILs is also investigated at two different heating rates (10 and 20) °C · min−1) using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The experimental results presented in this study reveal that the choice of anion type shows the most significant effect on the properties of ILs. The chloride and water contents of ILs (as impurities) are also investigated and reported in the present work.  相似文献

Here we reported a novel and efficient method for the synthesis of the critical intermediates of branched fluorinated surfactants with CF3CF2CF2C (CF3)2- group using HFPD as starting material. The reaction conditions were mild and easy to handle, which was promisingly applied to the industrial production.  相似文献

The diffusive properties of an imidazolium room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL), 1,2-dimethyl-3-propylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide (DMPImTFSA), are studied from the ionic conductivity and the ion diffusion coefficients measured by pulsed field gradient spin echo NMR. The temperature-dependent (1)H, (19)F, and (13)C NMR spin-lattice relaxation time T(1) values were observed, and the (1)H T(1) for DMPIm showed T(1) minima for various protons. According to the Bloemberger-Purcell-Pound (BPP) equation, the correlation time tau(c) values were directly calculated from (1)H NMR. By using the (1)H tau(c) values, an evaluation of the (13)C T(1) was attempted for the carbons having protons. The tau(c) estimated for molecular motions of DMPIm changes from 1.3 ns at 253 K to 72 ps at 353 K. The Stokes-Einstein-Debye (SED) model suggests that the tau(c) is too short for the overall molecular reorientation near room temperature. Consequently, the possibility of small-angle molecular rotation is proposed and tentative flip angles are calculated by using the translational diffusion coefficient, the bulk viscosity measured in this study, and the tau(c) obtained from (1)H T(1) data in the temperature range between 283 and 353 K. The flip amplitude increases with the temperature. DMPIm has isotropic reorientational motions with temperature-dependent amplitude, in addition to fast intramolecular motions such as methylene segmental motions, methyl rotational motion, and conformational exchange of the imidazolium ring. The existence of fast motions of TFSA is also shown. The translational diffusion of the ions is the slowest dynamic process in the present RTIL. Ab initio molecular orbital calculations are performed to understand the geometries of stable complexes of DMPIm(+) and TFSA(-), and the formation energies from the isolated ions are evaluated. The computed results are important for interpreting the (1)H T(1) behaviors observed for the imidazolium ring protons.  相似文献

Room temperature ionic liquids composed of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anions and 1,3-ethylmethylimidazolium (EMI) cations are shown to stabilize monomeric ligand deficient transition metal complexes via four distinct binding modes: monodentate nitrogen or oxygen coordination and/or bidentate oxygen-oxygen' or nitrogen-oxygen coordination (eta1-N, eta1-O, eta2-O,O' and eta2-N,O).  相似文献

We present a study on the effect of the alkyl chain length of the imidazolium ring in 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquids, [C1CnIm][NTf2] (n = 2 to 10), on the mixing properties of (ionic liquid + alcohol) mixtures (enthalpy and volume). We have measured small excess molar volumes with highly asymmetric curves as a function of mole fraction composition (S-shape) with more negative values in the alcohol-rich regions. The excess molar volumes increase with the increase of the alkyl-chain length of the imidazolium cation of the ionic liquid. The values of the partial molar excess enthalpy and the enthalpy of mixing are positive and, for the case of methanol, do not vary monotonously with the length of the alkyl side-chain of the cation on the ionic liquid – increasing from n = 2 to 6 and then decreasing from n = 8. This non-monotonous variation is explained by a more favourable interaction of methanol with the cation head group of the ionic liquid for alkyl chains longer than eight carbon atoms. It is also observed that the mixing is less favourable for the smaller alcohols, the enthalpy of mixing decreasing to less positive values as the alkyl chain of the alcohol increases. Based on the data from this work and on the knowledge of the vapour pressure of {[C1CnIm][NTf2] + alcohol} binary mixtures at T = 298 K reported in the literature, the excess Gibbs free energy, excess enthalpy and excess entropy could be then calculated and it was observed that these mixtures behave like the ones constituted by a non-associating and a non-polar component, with its solution behaviour being determined by the enthalpy.  相似文献

Synthesis and Properties of Tetrakis(Perfluoroalkyl)Tellurium Te(Rf)4 (Rf = CF3, C2F5, C3F7, C4F9) Te(CF3)4 is obtained from the reaction of Te(CF3)Cl2 with Cd(CF3)2 complexes as a complex with e. g. CH3CN, DMF. It is a light and temperature sensitive hydrolysable liquid. The reaction with fluorides yields the complex anion [Te(CF3)4F], with fluoride ion acceptors the complex cation [Te(CF3)3]+. With traces of water an acidic solution is formed. Te(CF3)4 acts as a trifluoromethylation reagent. The reaction with XeF2 gives hints for the formation of Ye(CF3)4F2. Properties and NMR spectra are discussed. The much more stable complexes of Te(Rf)4 (Rf = C2F5, C3F7, C4F9) are formed from the reaction of TeCl4 with the corresponding Cd(Rf)2 complexes.  相似文献
