We study the features of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) in a single Λ-type three-level atom placed in a high-finesse cavity under the action of a coupling laser and a probe laser.Our calculations show that three transparency windows appear when the pump strength is large enough.This can be explained by the residual pump in the cavity mostly resulting in energy splitting.The level |3 is split into four slightly different energy levels,and interference takes place between the excitation pathways.Furthermore,it is also shown that the frequencies of the EIT windows can be tuned by changing the coupling field detuning 2,and that the reflection profile is very sensitive to the cavity field detuning △c.  相似文献

The probe gain and the population in high level in the Quasi-A-type four-level atom system interacting with two fields at low light levels are investigated in this paper: The system always displays three gain peaks with probe detuning. At the same time, the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) can be observed in two windows which only relate to coupling detuning. When the system displays EIT, the population in the high level is zero. If the phase of the probe field is changed, the probe gain would be changed and absorption occurs but the population in the high level is a constant. It is worth noting that all results are got on the condition that the fields are as weak as the spontaneous emission fields and without any approximation.  相似文献

We have studied the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) of ~(87)Rb vapor with a buffer gas in a magnetic field at room temperature. It is found that the spectral lines caused by the velocity selective optical pump effects get much weaker and wider when the sample cell is mixed with a 5-Torr N_2 gas while the EIT signal is kept almost unchanged. A weighted least-square fit is also developed to remove the Doppler broadening completely. This spectral method provides a way to measure the Zeeman splitting with high resolution, for example, the Λ-type EIT resonance splits into four peaks on the D_2 line of ~(87)Rb in the thermal 2-cm vapor cell with a magnetic field along the electric field of the linearly polarized coupling laser. The high-resolution spectrum can be used to lock the laser to a given frequency by tuning the magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigate properties of the ponderomotive squeezing in an optomechanical system with two coupled resonators,where the tunable two-mode squeezing spectrum can be observed from the output field.It is realized that the squeezing orientation can be controlled by the detuning between the left cavity and pump laser.Especially,both cavity decay and environment temperature play a positive role in generating better pondermotive squeezing light.Strong squeezing spectra with a wide squeezing frequency range can be obtained by appropriate choice of parameters present in our optomechanical system.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate an enhanced electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) cooling method by introduc- ing a high finesse cavity. We find that the quantum destructive interference that is induced by the EIT effect and the cavity coupling can eliminate all of the heating effects in the cooling process by choosing appropriate parameters. Compared with the EIT cooling scheme, a lower final temperature can be obtained under the same conditions in our scheme.  相似文献

It is found that the behaviors of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and group velocity can be controlled by choosing appropriate parameters with the interacting dark resonances. In particular, when all the fields are on resonance, the slow light at the symmetric transparency windows with a much broader EIT width is obtained by tuning the intensity of the coupling field in comparison with its sub-system, which provides potential applications in quantum storage and retrieval of light.  相似文献

The influence of laser linewidth Γ1 on laser cooling of atoms was investigated theoretically by using a diffusing phase model. The final tempe rature which can be achieved by Doppler cooling or sub Doppler cooling in phase fluctuating laser field is presented. It was found that the natural linewidth Γn of the transition used for cooling the atoms is an important quan tity in evaluating the influence of Γ1 under Doppler cooling mechanis m, and the laser linewidth has little effect on the final temperature under sub-Doppler cooling mechanism because the laser detuning is very large in this case.  相似文献

We numerically simulate three-photon absorption spectra in a three-coupled-quantum-well nanostructure interacting with a pump field,a coherent coupling field,and a probe field.We find that the three-photon absorption spectra can be dramatically influenced due to the intensities of the coupling field and pump field changing under the three-photon resonance condition.The effect of the frequency detuning of the pump field on the three-photon absorption spectra is also discussed.The study in our case is much more practical than the study in the case of its atomic counterpart in the sense of flexible design and the wide adjustable parameters.Thus it may open up some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics and solid-state quantum information science.  相似文献

A nonlinear optical cascade-configuration multi-wave mixing (CCMWM) scheme is presented and analysed for the generation of coherent light in a six-level atomic system in the context of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). A detailed semi-classical study of the propagation of the generated mixing and probe fields is demonstrated. We show by numerical simulations that EIT is capable of suppressing linear and nonlinear photon absorption. The analytical dependence of the generated mixing field on the probe field and the respective detuning is also predicted. Such a nonlinear optical process can be used for generating coherent short-wavelength radiation.  相似文献

In this paper,we study an optomechanical device consisting of a Fabry-P′erot cavity with two dielectric nanospheres trapped near the cavity mirrors by an external driving laser.In the condition where the distances between the nanospheres and cavity mirrors are small enough,the Casimir force helps the optomechanical coupling to induce a steady-state optomechanical entanglement of the mechanical and optical modes in a certain regime of parameters.We investigate in detail the dependence of the steadystate optomechanical entanglement on external control parameters of the system,i.e.,the effective detuning,the pump powers of the cavity,the cavity decay rate and the wavelength of the driving field.It is found that the large steady-state optomechanical entanglement,i.e.EN=5.76,can be generated with experimentally feasible parameters,i.e.the pump power P=18.2μW,the cavity decay rateκ=0.5 MHz and the wavelength of the laserλL=1064 nm,which should be checked by optical measurement.  相似文献

We develop a full quantum theory of transient-state electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in the vapor of three-level A-type atoms interacting with probe and coupling lasers. As applications of the full quantum theory, we show that transient-state EIT medium exhibits normal dispersion and find that group velocities of both coupling and probe lasers are greatly reduced. It is shown that the group velocity of the probe laser in the transient-state EIT case is equal to that in the adiabatic EIT case and that the coupling laser group velocity in the transient-state EIT is generally less than that in the adiabatic EIT.  相似文献

We study the spatiotemporal evolution of the electromagnetic field inside a microresonator showing an anomalous dispersion at the pump wavelength by using the normalized Lugiato–Lefever equation. Unlike the traditional single continuous wave(CW) pumping, an additional pump source consisting of periodical pulse train with variable repetition rate is adopted.The influences of the microresonator properties and the pump parameters on the field evolution and the electromagnetic field profile are analyzed. The simulation results indicate that, in the anomalous dispersion regime, both increases of the input pulse amplitude and the repetition frequency can result in the field profiles consisting of multiple peaks. A series of equidistant pulses can also be obtained by increasing the CW pump power. In addition, we find that a large physical detuning between the pump laser carrier and the cavity resonance frequency also causes the splitting of the inside field.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of an optical cavity coupled with single four-level atoms in closed loop formed via applied control lasers. The transmitted probe field from the cavity is analyzed. We show that the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) in the cavity and the normal mode splitting will be very different with changing the closed interaction phase and the intensity of the free-space control laser. This coupled cavity-atom system presents a variational double-EIT that comes from modulating the splitting of the dark state, which means that we could realize the gradual transfer between one EIT peak and two EIT peaks by adjusting the applied control lasers, and the normal mode splitting sidebands will shift slightly by changing the free-space control laser. This means that we could control the output cavity probe field more freely and it is easer to realize optical switch controlled by more parameters. We also depict the angular dispersion of the intracavity probe field in different free-space control laser. The large phase shift(-π→π) of the reflected intracavity probe field will be very useful for optical temporal differentiation and quantum phase gate.  相似文献

Electromagnetlcally induced transparency (EIT) in an inhomogenously broadened medium consisting of Λ-type three-level atoms has been analyzed. It is shown that the A system can induce a transparency of the medhun when the probe laser and the coupling laser have the same frequency detunings (including zero). Across the EIT window, the radial variation of the strong coupling laser radiation may lead to electromagnetically induced focusing or defocusing of the weak probe laser at separate probe frequency detuning points.  相似文献

An optomechanical cavity embedded with a V-type three-level atom is exploited to control single-photon transport in a one-dimensional waveguide. The effects of the atom–cavity detuning, the optomechanical effect,the coupling strengths between the cavity and the atom or the waveguide, and the atomic dissipation on the single-photon transport properties are analyzed systematically. Interestingly, the single-photon transmission spectra show multiple double electromagnetically induced transparency. Moreover, the double electromagnetically induced transparency can be switched to a single one by tuning the atom–cavity detuning.  相似文献

The electromagnetically induced absorption and electromagnetically induced transparency spectra of degenerate two-level systems with a strong coupling laser were observed. The frequency detuning and intensity effect of the coupling laser were demonstrated simultaneously. A dispersion-like spectrum can be obtained when the coupling laser is situated at blue-side detuning. The absorption inversion was realized when the coupling laser intensity is small. The coherent resonance has a linewidth much narrower than the natural linewidth of the optical transitions.  相似文献

We report an experimental observation of the variation in linewidth of the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) resonance in a three-level A-type system for several laser bandwidths in a Rb vapor cell, with and without a buffer gas. It is found, using narrow bandwidth (about 20 kHz) diode laser for both coupling and probe beams, that the linewidth of the EIT resonance can be significantly narrowed in the Rb vapor cell with the buffer gas. The results are in good qualitative agreement with a simple theoretical calculation.  相似文献

The generation of high-energy dual-wavelength domain wall pulse with a low repetition rate is demonstrated in a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF)-based fiber ring laser. By introducing the intracavity birefringence-induced spectral filtering effect, the dual-wavelength lasing operation can be achieved. In order to enhance the cross coupling effect between the two lasing beams for domain wall pulse formation, a 215-m HNLF is incorporated into the laser cavity. Experimentally, it is found that the dual-wavelength domain wall pulse with a repetition rate of 77.67 kHz could be efficiently obtained through simply rotating the polarization controller (PC). At a maximum pump power of 322 mW, the 655-nJ single pulse energy in cavity is obtained. The proposed configuration provides a simpler and more efficient way to generate high energy pulse with a low repetition rate.  相似文献

We show that the recently proposed invariant eigenoperator method can be successfully applied to solving the energy levels of an electron in a saddle-potential quantum dot under a uniform magnetic field. The Landau diamagnetism decreases with the value ωy2 - ωx2 due to the existence of the saddle potential.  相似文献
