Superconvergence has been studied for long, and many different numerical methods have been analyzed. This paper is concerned with the problem of superconvergence for a two-dimensional time-dependent linear Schrödinger equation with the finite element method. The error estimate and superconvergence property with order O(hk+1) in the H1 norm are given by using the elliptic projection operator in the semi-discrete scheme. The global superconvergence is derived by the interpolation post-processing technique. The superconvergence result with order O(hk+1 + τ2) in the H1 norm can be obtained in the Crank-Nicolson fully discrete scheme.  相似文献

For the system

(with k ≧ 3), we prove the existence for β large of positive radial solutions on \({\mathbb R^N}\) . We show that as β →  + ∞, the profile of each component U i separates, in many pulses, from the others. Moreover, we can prescribe the location of such pulses in terms of the oscillations of the changing-sign solutions of the scalar equation  ? ΔW  +  W  =  W3. Within an Hartree–Fock approximation, this provides a theoretical indication of phase separation into many nodal domains for the k-mixtures of Bose–Einstein condensates.

In this paper, we consider periodic soft inclusions T ε with periodicity ε, where the solution, u ε , satisfies semi-linear elliptic equations of non-divergence in \({\Omega_{\epsilon}=\Omega\setminus \overline{T}_\epsilon}\) with Neumann data on \({\partial T^{\mathfrak a}}\). The difficulty lies in the non-divergence structure of the operator where the standard energy method, which is based on the divergence theorem, cannot be applied. The main object is to develop a viscosity method to find the homogenized equation satisfied by the limit of u ε , referred to as u, as ε approaches to zero. We introduce the concept of a compatibility condition between the equation and the Neumann condition on the boundary for the existence of uniformly bounded periodic first correctors. The concept of a second corrector is then developed to show that the limit, u, is the viscosity solution of a homogenized equation.  相似文献

We consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions of systems of inviscid or viscous conservation laws in one or several space variables, which are almost periodic in the space variables in a generalized sense introduced by Stepanoff and Wiener, which extends the original one of H. Bohr. We prove that if u(x,t) is such a solution whose inclusion intervals at time t, with respect to ?>0, satisfy l epsiv;(t)/t→0 as t→∞, and such that the scaling sequence u T (x,t)=u(T x,T t) is pre-compact as t→∞ in L loc 1(? d +1 +, then u(x,t) decays to its mean value \(\), which is independent of t, as t→∞. The decay considered here is in L 1 loc of the variable ξ≡x/t, which implies, as we show, that \(\) as t→∞, where M x denotes taking the mean value with respect to x. In many cases we show that, if the initial data are almost periodic in the generalized sense, then so also are the solutions. We also show, in these cases, how to reduce the condition on the growth of the inclusion intervals l ?(t) with t, as t→∞, for fixed ? > 0, to a condition on the growth of l ?(0) with ?, as ?→ 0, which amounts to imposing restrictions only on the initial data. We show with a simple example the existence of almost periodic (non-periodic) functions whose inclusion intervals satisfy any prescribed growth condition as ?→ 0. The applications given here include inviscid and viscous scalar conservation laws in several space variables, some inviscid systems in chromatography and isentropic gas dynamics, as well as many viscous 2 × 2 systems such as those of nonlinear elasticity and Eulerian isentropic gas dynamics, with artificial viscosity, among others. In the case of the inviscid scalar equations and chromatography systems, the class of initial data for which decay results are proved includes, in particular, the L generalized limit periodic functions. Our procedures can be easily adapted to provide similar results for semilinear and kinetic relaxations of systems of conservation laws.  相似文献

We study turbulent plane Couette-Poiseuille (CP) flows in which the conditions (relative wall velocity ΔU w ≡ 2U w , pressure gradient dP/dx and viscosity ν) are adjusted to produce zero mean skin friction on one of the walls, denoted by APG for adverse pressure gradient. The other wall, FPG for favorable pressure gradient, provides the friction velocity u τ , and h is the half-height of the channel. This leads to a one-parameter family of one-dimensional flows of varying Reynolds number Re ≡ U w h/ν. We apply three codes, and cover three Reynolds numbers stepping by a factor of two each time. The agreement between codes is very good, and the Reynolds-number range is sizable. The theoretical questions revolve around Reynolds-number independence in both the core region (free of local viscous effects) and the two wall regions. The core region follows Townsend’s hypothesis of universal behavior for the velocity and shear stress, when they are normalized with u τ and h; on the other hand universality is not observed for all the Reynolds stresses, any more than it is in Poiseuille flow or boundary layers. The FPG wall region obeys the classical law of the wall, again for velocity and shear stress. For the APG wall region, Stratford conjectured universal behavior when normalized with the pressure gradient, leading to a square-root law for the velocity. The literature, also covering other flows with zero skin friction, is ambiguous. Our results are very consistent with both of Stratford’s conjectures, suggesting that at least in this idealized flow turbulence theory is successful like it was for the classical logarithmic law of the wall. We appear to know the constants of the law within a 10% bracket. On the other hand, that again does not extend to Reynolds stresses other than the shear stress, but these stresses are passive in the momentum equation.  相似文献

Based on the finite volume method, the flow past a two-dimensional circular cylinder at a critical Reynolds number (Re = 8.5 × 105) was simulated using the Navier-Stokes equations and the γ-Reθ transition model coupled with the SST k ? ω turbulence model (hereinafter abbreviated as γ-Reθ model). Considering the effect of free-stream turbulence intensity decay, the SST k ? ω turbulence model was modified according to the ambient source term method proposed by Spalart and Rumsey, and then the modified SST k ? ω turbulence model is coupled with the γ-Reθ transition model (hereinafter abbreviated as γ-Reθ-SR model). The flow past a circular cylinder at different inlet turbulence intensities were simulated by the γ-Reθ-SR model. At last, the flow past a circular cylinder at subcritical, critical and supercritical Reynolds numbers were each simulated by the γ-Reθ-SR model, and the three flow states were analyzed. It was found that compared with the SST k ? ω turbulence model, the γ-Reθ model could simulate the transition of laminar to turbulent, resulting in better consistency with experimental result. Compared with the γ-Reθ model, for relatively high inlet turbulence intensities, the γ-Reθ-SR model could better simulate the flow past a circular cylinder; however the improvement almost diminished for relatively low inlet turbulence intensities The γ-Reθ-SR model could well simulate the flow past a circular cylinder at subcritical, critical and supercritical Reynolds numbers.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the existence of a family of new non-collision periodic solutions for the classical Newtonian n-body problems. In our assumption, the \({n=2l \geqq 4}\) particles are invariant under the dihedral rotation group Dl in \({\mathbb{R}^3}\) such that, at each instant, the n particles form two twisted l-regular polygons. Our approach is the variational minimizing method and we show that the minimizers are collision-free by level estimates and local deformations.  相似文献

Nonclassical conservation laws with viscosity arising in multiphase fluid and solid mechanics exhibit a rich variety of traveling-wave phenomena, including homoclinic (pulse-type) and periodic solutions along with the standard heteroclinic (shock, or front-type) solutions. Here, we investigate stability of periodic traveling waves within the abstract Evans-function framework established by R. A. Gardner. Our main result is to derive a useful stability index analogous to that developed by Gardner and Zumbrun in the traveling-front or -pulse context, giving necessary conditions for stability with respect to initial perturbations that are periodic on the same period T as the traveling wave; moreover, we show that the periodic-stability index has an interpretation analogous to that of the traveling-front or -pulse index in terms of well-posedness of an associated Riemann problem for an inviscid medium, now to be interpreted as allowing a wider class of measure-valued solutionsor, alternatively, in terms of existence and nonsingularity of a local “mass map” from perturbation mass to potential time-asymptotic T-periodic states. A closely related calculation yields also a complementary long-wave stability criterion necessary for stability with respect to periodic perturbations of arbitrarily large period NT, N → ∞. We augment these analytical results with numerical investigations analogous to those carried out by Brin in the traveling-front or -pulse case, approximating the spectrum of the linearized operator about the wave.The stability index and long-wave stability criterion are explicitly evaluable in the same planar, Hamiltonian cases as is the index of Gardner and Zumbrun, and together yield rigorous results of instability similar to those obtained previously for pulse-type solutions; this is established through a novel dichotomy asserting that the two criteria are in certain cases logically exclusive. In particular, we obtain results bearing on the nature and mechanism for formation of highly oscillatory Turing-like patterns observed numerically by Frid and Liu and ?ani? and Peters in models of multiphase flow. Specifically, for the van der Waals model considered by Frid and Liu, we show instability of all periodic waves such that the period increases with amplitude in the one-parameter family of nearby periodic orbits, and in particular of large- and small-amplitude waves; for the standard, double-well potential, this yields instability of all periodic waves.Likewise, for a quadratic-flux model like that considered by ?ani? and Peters, we show instability of large-amplitude waves of the type lying near observed patterns, and of all small-amplitude waves; our numerical results give evidence that intermediate-amplitude waves are unstable as well. These results give support for an alternative mechanism for pattern formation conjectured by Azevedo, Marchesin, Plohr, and Zumbrun, not involving periodic waves.  相似文献

Klein-Gordon chains are one-dimensional lattices of nonlinear oscillators in an anharmonic on-site potential, linearly coupled with their first neighbors. In this paper, we study the existence in such networks of spatially localized solutions, which appear time periodic in a referential in translation at constant velocity. These solutions are called travelling breathers. In the case of travelling wave solutions, the existence of exact solutions has been obtained by Iooss and Kirchgässner. Formal multiscale expansions have been used by Remoissenet to derive approximate solutions of travelling breathers in the form of modulated plane waves. James and Sire have studied the existence of specific travelling breather solutions, consisting in pulsating travelling waves which are exactly translated of 2 lattice sites after a fixed propagation time T. In this paper, we generalize this approach to pulsating travelling waves which are exactly translated of p≥ 3 sites after a given time T p being arbitrary. By formulating the problem as a dynamical system, one is able to reduce the system locally to a finite dimensional set of ordinary differential equations (ODE), whose dimension depends on the parameter values of the problem. We prove that the principal part of this system of ODE admits homoclinic connections to p-tori under general conditions on the potential. One can obtain leading order approximations of these homoclinic connections and these orbits should correspond, for the oscillator chain, to small amplitude travelling breather solutions superposed on an exponentially small quasi-periodic tail.  相似文献

We find sharp uniqueness classes for the contact problem of nonhomogeneous linear elastostatics in exterior domains. Moreover, we prove that a solution of the displacement problem in a cone of aperture φ enjoys the asymptotic properties expressed by the classical Phragmèn–Lindelöf principle; in particular, uniqueness holds in the class of all functions that are bounded at large distance by r 1/c φ for some positive c. Then, by means of a counter–example we observe that the same properties are no longer satisfied by the solutions of the contact problem.  相似文献

We consider bending of thin plates with polygonal and curvilinear edges and indicate analogies and differences between the boundary conditions and boundary value problems arising in these two cases if the polygon is inscribed in the curvilinear contour and the number k of vertices of the polygon tends to infinity.We believe that the so-called Sapondzhyan paradox that arises when solving the boundary value problems for supported plates with a curvilinear contour and a k-gonal contour inscribed in it as k → ∞ can be called a paradox only by misunderstanding. Sapondzhyan’s paradox was studied in several papers briefly surveyed in the monograph [1]. Apparently, the interpretation of “paradoxes” and the results proposed in the present paper are published for the first time.Sapondzhyan’s paradox can be generalized to the case of bending of the so-called sliding-fixed plates (i.e., the generalized shear force and the rotation angle are zero on the plate contour) with a curvilinear contour and a k-gonal contour inscribed in it as k → ∞.In the case of three-dimensional elasticity problems, we present boundary conditions and boundary value problems similar to those listed above and consider the situations resulting in “paradoxes” similar to those arising in plate bending. Under suitable assumptions that the corresponding kinetic system admits two stable periodic solutions (p(t), 0) and (0, q(t)), the existence, uniqueness and stability of one-dimensional traveling wave solution \(\left( \Phi _{1}(x+ct,t),\Phi _{2}(x+ct,t)\right) \) connecting two periodic solutions (p(t), 0) and (0, q(t)) have been established by Bao and Wang ( J Differ Equ 255:2402–2435, 2013) recently. In this paper we continue to investigate two-dimensional traveling wave solutions of the above system under the same assumptions. First, we establish the asymptotic behaviors of one-dimensional traveling wave solutions of the system at infinity. Using these asymptotic behaviors, we then construct appropriate super- and subsolutions and prove the existence and non-existence of two-dimensional time periodic traveling curved fronts. Finally, we show that the time periodic traveling curved front is asymptotically stable.

We consider the existence of Beltrami fields with a nonconstant proportionality factor f in an open subset U of \({\mathbb{R}^3}\). By reformulating this problem as a constrained evolution equation on a surface, we find an explicit differential equation that f must satisfy whenever there is a nontrivial Beltrami field with this factor. This ensures that there are no nontrivial regular solutions for an open and dense set of factors f in the Ck topology, \({k\geqq 7}\). In particular, there are no nontrivial Beltrami fields whenever f has a regular level set diffeomorphic to the sphere. This provides an explanation of the helical flow paradox of Morgulis et al. (Commun Pure Appl Math 48:571–582, 1995).  相似文献

We report on the interplay between creep and residual stresses in a carbopol microgel. When a constant shear stress σ is applied below the yield stress σ y, the strain is shown to increase as a power law of time, γ(t) = γ 0 + (t/τ) α , with an exponent α = 0.39 ± 0.04 that is strongly reminiscent of Andrade creep in hard solids. For applied shear stresses lower than some typical value σ c ? 0.2σ y, the microgel experiences a more complex, anomalous creep behavior, characterized by an initial decrease of the strain, that we attribute to the existence of residual stresses of the order of σ c that persist after a rest time under a zero shear rate following preshear. The influence of gel concentration on creep and residual stresses are investigated as well as possible aging effects. We discuss our results in light of previous works on colloidal glasses and other soft glassy systems.  相似文献

A matched-asymptotics approach is proposed to show the occurrence of two distinct characteristic length scales in the carbonation process. The separation of these scales arises due to the strong competition between reaction and diffusion effects. We show that for sufficiently large times τ the width of the carbonated region is proportional to \(\sqrt{\tau}\), while the width of the reaction front is proportional to \(\tau^{\frac{p-1}{2(p+1)}}\) for carbonation-reaction rates with a power law structure like k[CO2] p [Ca(OH)2] q , where k>0 and p,q>1 and identify the proportionality coefficient asymptotically. We emphasize the occurrence of a water barrier in the reaction zone which may hinder the penetration of CO2 by locally filling with water air parts of the pores. This non-linear effect may be one of the causes why a purely linear extrapolation of accelerated carbonation test results to natural carbonation settings is (even theoretically) not reasonable. Finally, we compare our asymptotic penetration law against measured penetration depths from Bune (Zum Karbonatisierungsbedingten Verlust der Dauerhaftigkeit von Außenbauteilen aus Stahlbeton, 1994). The novelty consists in the fact that the factor multiplying \(\sqrt{\tau}\) is now identified asymptotically by solving a non-linear system of ordinary differential equations, and hence, fitting arguments are not necessary to estimate its size. We offer an alternative to the (asymptotic) \(\sqrt{\tau}\) expression of the carbonation-front position obtained in Papadakis et al. (AIChE J. 35:1639, 1989).  相似文献

The Siemens SGT-800 3rd generation DLE burner fitted to an atmospheric combustion rig has been numerically investigated. Pure methane and methane enriched by 80 vol% hydrogen flames have been considered. A URANS (Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) approach was used in this study along with the k ? ω SST and the k ? ω SST-SAS models for the turbulence transport. The chemistry is coupled to the turbulent flow simulations by the use of a laminar flamelet library combined with a presumed PDF. The effect of the mesh density in the mixing and the flame region and the effect of the turbulence model and reaction rate model constant are first investigated for the methane/air flame case. The results from the k ? ω SST-SAS along with flamelet libraries are shown to be in excellent agreement with experimental data, whereas the k ? ω SST model is too dissipative and cannot capture the unsteady motion of the flame. The k ? ω SST-SAS model is used for simulation of the 80 vol% hydrogen enriched flame case without further adjusting the model constants. The global features of the hydrogen enrichment are very well captured in the simulations using the SST-SAS model. With the hydrogen enrichment the time averaged flame front location moves upstream towards the burner exit nozzle. The results are consistent with the experimental observations. The model captures the three dominant low frequency unsteady motion observed in the experiments, indicating that the URANS/LES hybrid model indeed is capable of capturing complex, time dependent, features such as an interaction between a PVC and the flame front.  相似文献

A (\(1+1\))-dimensional inhomogeneous cubic–quintic–septimal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with \(\mathcal {PT}\)-symmetric potentials is studied, and two families of soliton solutions are obtained. From soliton solutions, the amplitude of soliton is independent of the \(\mathcal {PT}\)-symmetric potential parameter k; however, the phase depends on the parameter k. The phase of soliton alters from negative to positive values at the location of center. Moreover, the evolutional behaviors of these solitons are discussed.  相似文献

Turbulent flows in channels with intense distributed injection are modeled using the large eddy method and the two-equation k-? turbulence model. The calculations are carried out for different velocities of injection from the channel walls. For a channel with one-sided injection the results of large eddy simulation are in good agreement with the measured data, whereas the calculations in accordance with the k-? model give a less convex cross-sectional velocity profile and an appreciable error in determining the surface friction coefficient on the impermeable wall and also have certain other shortcomings. In the case of two-sided injection, the results of the calculations by the large eddy method and the k-? model are in good agreement with one another and the data of physical experiments.  相似文献
