The energy spectra of low-lying states of an exciton in a single and a vertically coupled quantum dots are studied under the influence of a perpendicularly applied magnetic field. Calculations are made by using the method of numerical diagonalization of the Hamiltonian within the effective-mass approximation. We also calculated the binding energy of the ground and the excited states of an exciton in a single quantum dot and that in a vertically coupled quantum dot as a function of the dot radius for different vaJues of the distance and the magnetic field strength.  相似文献

The quasi-exact properties of an exciton are investigated theoretically in the presence of an external magnetic field using the effective-mass approach in GaAs parabolic quantum dot. The energy spectrum is obtained analytically as a function of the dot radius, interaction strength and magnetic field. It is established that, a steady bound state of an exciton in the ground state exists under the effect of a strong magnetic field; also I noticed that the exciton binding energy decreases by increasing both the radius of the dot and the magnetic field strength and the reduction becomes pronounced for larger dots. As expected, it has been found that the exciton total energy decreases with increasing the size of the dot and it enhances by increasing the magnetic field. It appears that the exciton total energy strongly depends on the magnetic field for dots with big size. The magnetic field effect on the exciton size also has been studied. It is shown that the increase in the magnetic field leads to a reduction in the exciton size; due to magnetic field confinement, while the size of an exciton reach its bulk limit as the dot size increases. Moreover, it is shown that, if the dot radius is sufficiently large the oscillator strength saturates and it becomes insensitive to the magnetic field while the increase in the magnetic field gradually weakened the oscillator strength. I have calculated the ground-state distribution for both the electron and the hole. It is found that the localization of the electron/hole increases in the presence of a magnetic field. Moreover, the ground-state optical-absorption intensity is investigated. Finally, the dependence of the lowest five states of an exciton on both the dot radius and the magnetic field are discussed.

The energy spectra of low-lying states are calculated by means of matrix diagonalization. The energy levels structure of two interacting electrons in a parabolic quantum dot under an external magnetic field of arbitrary strength is studied via the asymptotic iteration method. The method gives accurate results over the full range of quantum dot parameters. A crossings between spin-singlet and spin-triplet ground states energies as a function of the magnetic field is predicted.  相似文献

The influence of the electron-LO-phonon coupling on energy spectrum of the low-lying states ofan exciton inparabolic quantum dots is investigated as a function of dot size. Calculations are made by using the method of few-bodyphysics within the effective-mass approximation. The properties of the low-lying states of a negative donor center trapped by a spherical quantum dot, which is subjected to a parabolic potential confinement, are investigated in the absence of magnetic field. The calculations have been performed by means of the exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian matrix within the effective-mass approximation. We find that there is only one bound state the D- center in a spherical parabolic quantum dot in the absence of magnetic field. The binding energy of the ground state is obtained as a function of the dot size. Moreover, the critical confined potential radius value at which the negative donor center changes from unbound to bound is obtained.  相似文献

研究了抛物型半导体量子点中弱耦合激子的性质,在有效质量近似下,采用线性组合算符和幺正变换的方法,导出了抛物型半导体量子点中激子的基态能量。讨论了量子点半径和受限强度对半导体量子点中弱耦合激子的基态能量的影响。以GaAs半导体为例进行了数值计算,结果表明:在弱耦合情况下,重空穴激子和轻空穴激子的基态能量随量子点半径的减小而增大,随受限强度ω0的增强而增大。  相似文献

We present time-resolved and time-integrated spectroscopy of single InAs quantum dots grown in a GaAs matrix. We observe a number of interesting features in the spectra, including the zero field splitting of exciton and biexciton lines due to quantum dot asymmetry. By the application of an in-plane magnetic field, the normally optically active and inactive exciton states become mixed, enabling us to optically probe the normally inaccessible ‘dark’ states. Time resolved measurements on the mixed states show decay times several times longer than the exciton lifetime at zero field, which we show to be consistent with a dark exciton lifetime orders of magnitude longer than that for bright exciton.  相似文献

The magnetic state of a single magnetic ion (Mn2+) embedded in an individual quantum dot is optically probed using microspectroscopy. The fine structure of a confined exciton in the exchange field of a single Mn2+ ion (S=5/2) is analyzed in detail. The exciton-Mn2+ exchange interaction shifts the energy of the exciton depending on the Mn2+ spin component and six emission lines are observed at zero magnetic field. Magneto-optic measurements reveal that the emission intensities in both circular polarizations are controlled by the Mn2+ spin distribution imposed by the exchange interaction with the exciton, the magnetic field, and an effective manganese temperature which depends on both the lattice temperature and the density of photocreated carriers. Under magnetic field, the electron-Mn interaction induces a mixing of the bright and dark exciton states.  相似文献

We find that discontinuous ground-state energy transitions are induced by an external magnetic field. We find that dot-dot distance and electron-electron interaction strongly affect the low-lying states of the coupled quantum dots. The Schrödinger equation involving the phenomenon of the localization and entanglement for an exciton in a quantum dot molecule by an ac electric field is analytically investigated. New exact series solutions for the Schrödinger equation have been obtained for the first time. We investigated theoretically the influence of strain on the exciton in both single and three vertically coupled self-assembled quantum dot systems in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field. For the single disk, we find that the heavy-hole exciton is the ground state, while for the system of three stacked disks, the light hole state was found to be lower in energy. We study electronic transport through a quantum dot (QD) with a precessing magnetic field. By using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function method, formulas of local density of states (LDOS) and conductance of QD are derived self-consistently. It shows that the LDOS and conductance have obvious changes with the Coulomb blockade interaction. The intensity and angle of the magnetic field or temperatures, which reflect the mesoscopic structure of the QD are derived. The superiority of this device is that the QD can be controlled easily by the magnetic field, so it is valuable to apply in generating, manipulating and probing spin state.  相似文献

应用线性组合算符和幺正变换方法研究了抛物量子点中磁极化子的基态性质。得出基态能和基态束缚能随有效束缚强度增大而减小,随回旋频率增大而增大。当有效柬缚强度给定,基态能量随电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度增加而减小。当有效束缚强度l0>0.3时,电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度的变化对量子点中弱耦合磁极化子的基态能量的影响变得显著。当有效束缚强度l0<0.3时,电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度的变化对基态能量影响很小。由于有效束缚强度与量子点受限强度的平方根成反比,所以量子点受限越强,基态能量、基态束缚能越大,电子一体纵光学声子耦合强度和磁场的变化对量子点的影响相对越小;当量子点受限变弱时,电子-声子耦合强度变化对量子点的影响变大,磁场对量子点的影响也变大,所以在量子点中,极化子对量子点的影响不容忽略。  相似文献

Multiexcitons confined in InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) with a lateral size slightly exceeding the exciton Bohr radius are investigated by magnetophotoluminescence spectroscopy at 2 K. The Coulomb correlations in the two-exciton complex result in an additional confinement, which increases with decreasing dot size, while a magnetic field reduces this effect. A three-exciton complex is confined only by the geometric confinement potential of the QD. The exciton-exciton repulsion increases with decreasing dot size, while a magnetic field decreases the repulsion strongly when the magnetic length becomes smaller than the lateral size of the QD.
