The spectrum of coherent transition radiation has been recorded with the use of a Martin–Puplett interferometer. It has been shown that the spectrum includes monochromatic lines that are caused by the modulation of an electron beam with the frequency of an accelerating radio-frequency field νRF and correspond to resonances at ν k = kνRF k ≤ 10. To determine the length of an electron bunch from the measurement of the spectrum from a single bunch, it is necessary to use a spectrometer with the resolution Δνsp > νRF.  相似文献

Laser plasma accelerators (LPAs) have made great progress, achieving electron beam with energy up to 1 GeV from a centimeter scale capillary plasma waveguide. Here, we report the measurement of optical transition radiation (OTR) from the capillary-based LPA electron beams. Transition radiation images, produced by electrons passing through two separate foils (located at 2.3 m and 3.8 m away from the exit of the LPA) were recorded with a high resolution imaging system, respectively. Two magnetic quadrupole lenses were placed right after the capillary to focus and collimate the electron beams. Significant localized spikes appeared in the OTR images when the electron beam was focused by the magnetic quadrupole lenses, indicating the coherence of the radiation and the existence of ultrashort longitudinal structures inside the electron beam.  相似文献

A dynamic theory is developed for coherent X-ray radiation generated when a diverging beam of relativistic electrons crosses a periodic layered target. The photonic crystal structure has attracted much attention due to its ability to confine light. In this paper, we present our study on an improved Smith-Purcell radiation from a simple metal photonic crystal excited by moving electrons. Different from the wide-band Smith-Purcell radiation from a single metal grating, the results show that the injected electrons could induce more dipole oscillations inside the multi-grating structure, and it leads to the enhancement of the radiation intensity. In addition, there are strong resonances in metal multi-grating structure, and the resonance characteristics may narrow the radiation band, which leads to a radiation with an obvious peak in the spectrum. Therefore, the multi-grating structure has the ability to enhance the radiation intensity and shape the radiation frequency band. By optimizing the structure parameters, coherent and tunable Smith-Purcell radiation can be realized, and it provides a potential way to develop band-controllable light or THz radiation source.  相似文献

利用强流脉冲电子束装置在各种工艺条件下对奥氏体不锈钢、单晶铝及多晶铝等面心立方金属进行辐照处理.利用扫描电子显微镜和透射电子显微镜等详细分析了辐照样品的变形组织与结构.通过分析,在一定程度上建立起强流脉冲电子束诱发的应力特征与变形结构之间的关系,并对目前现有的几种应力波数值模拟结果进行了分析.实验结果表明,强流脉冲电子束能够在材料内部诱发102—103MPa的应力,其传播方式与材料的 晶体结构关系密切.这一应力是导致材料深层性能与微观组织结构发生变化的根源所在. 关键词: 强流脉冲电子束 应力 微观结构 变形  相似文献

The electron-emission characteristics of dielectrics irradiated with electron beams with a current density of about 10?5 A cm?2 have been experimentally investigated. An ambiguous relationship between the secondary electron-emission properties, the charged-surface potential, and the positive and negative charges accumulated in the surface region of dielectric targets is demonstrated. The character and values of various experimentally observed time charging constants, inconsistent with a number of theoretical models and estimates, are qualitatively explained.  相似文献

One kind of instantaneous electron beam emittance measurement system based on the optical transition radiation principle and double imaging optical method has been set up. It is mainly adopted in the test for the intense electron-beam produced by a linear induction accelerator. The system features two characteristics. The first one concerns the system synchronization signal triggered by the following edge of the main output waveform from a Blumlein switch. The synchronous precision of about 1 ns between the electron beam and the image capture time can be reached in this way so that the electron beam emittance at the desired time point can be obtained. The other advantage of the system is the ability to obtain the beam spot and beam divergence in one measurement so that the calculated result is the true beam emittance at that time, which can explain the electron beam condition. It provides to be a powerful beam diagnostic method for a 2.5 kA, 18.5 MeV, 90 ns (FWHM) electron beam pulse produced by Dragon I. The ability of the instantaneous measurement is about 3 ns and it can measure the beam emittance at any time point during one beam pulse. A series of beam emittances have been obtained for Dragon I. The typical beam spot is 9.0 mm (FWHM) in diameter and the corresponding beam divergence is about 10.5 mrad.  相似文献

Vavilov-Cerenkov radiation generated by a relativistic electron bunch in a rectangular waveguide with a transverse-inhomogeneous dielectric filling is analyzed. A method is proposed for constructing an orthogonal basis of the transverse operator, which can be subsequently used for determining the wakefield of the relativistic bunch moving parallel to the waveguide axis. The dispersion equation for the structure is derived and the expressions for the wake field produced by such a bunch are obtained. The formalism described here forms the basis for calculating parameters of the accelerating structure for generator bunches of the Argonne Wakefield Accelerator (AWA) at the Argonne National Laboratory and the FACET complex of the SLAC accelerator. It is shown that using such structures, accelerating field gradients higher than 150 MV/m can be generated at frequencies 20?C35 GHz and exceeding 1 GeV/m in the frequency range ??1 THz.  相似文献

研究表明, 峰值强度为1022–1025 W/cm2量级的圆偏振激光脉冲的有质动力场可以直接加速并产生GeV–TeV的单能电子束, 其中被加速电子的能量与激光脉冲的峰值强度成线性定标关系. 为了获得更高能量的电子束, 通过对一维解析模型的分析得到: 如果电子束在激光传播的方向上具一个初始能量E0, 那么这种线性的定标关系可以被打破, 被加速电子束最终的能量可以被放大E0倍. 这是由于具有一定初始能量的电子束不容易被激光脉冲抛在后面, 进而获得更高的加速距离. 二维粒子模拟结果显示: 当电子束的初始能量E0为MeV量级时这个方法是有效的, 而当E0过大时这个方法失效. 这是因为当电子的加速距离远大于激光脉冲的瑞利长度时, 激光强度的衰减使得电子束的加速错过了最佳加速场.  相似文献

Polarization-dependent spatial beam profiles of femtosecond X-ray pulses generated by a laser Compton scheme were measured. The X-ray pulses were generated by the interaction at an angle of 90° between 100-fs laser light and a 3-ps, 3π-mm mrad electron beam. The polarization of the laser light was linear in two different directions, either parallel or perpendicular to the electron beam axis. A dc electron beam is shot at a low distance parallel to the plane surface of a dielectric. The Cerenkov radiation produced in the dielectric is observed. It has a continuous spectrum which was determined interferometrically in the 0.6...3 mm wavelength region. The measured dependences on beam voltage, current, and distance agree with theory within the experimental errors. The produced absolute spectral intensities were in the order of 10?19 watt/cps.  相似文献

A mathematical model of the cathodeluminescence of free excitons excited by a narrow electron beam in a semiconductor material is described and investigated. The model is based on an analytical solution to equations of the three-dimensional diffusion of excitons. It is shown that the model can be used to estimate the diffusivity of excitons from experimental time-of-flight measurements of samples coated with a lightproof mask with round apertures. The parameters of gallium nitride were used in the modeling.  相似文献

New holographical optical elements—modans—are described that are computer-generated and aimed to select modes of laser radiation. Modans are matched with modal spatial configurations and are able to transform the modal-power distribution into the focal-intensity distribution. It is shown that optical systems containing modans are able to measure modal power and phase distribution at the fiber or laser output. Theoretical and experimental results confirm the possibilities of forming coherent beams with required modal compositions by diffractive optical elements. Applications of modans are investigated for fiber-optical sensors of microshifts.  相似文献

A theory of coherent X-ray radiation from a relativistic electron crossing an artificial periodic layered structure in the Laue scattering geometry is constructed. The expressions describing the spectral-angular radiation parameters are obtained. It is shown that the radiation yield in such a medium may substantially exceed the radiation yield in a crystal under analogous conditions.  相似文献

We demonstrate the operation of a quasi-continuous-wave optical parametric oscillator (OPO) in the red part of the visible spectrum by direct pumping from a frequency-doubled quasi-continuous-wave Nd:YAG laser. The OPO is singly resonant and based on a MgO-doped periodically poled stoichiometric lithium tantalate crystal. A single-frequency 1.2 W output power is obtained when an etalon is inserted inside the cavity.  相似文献
