On a Class of Analytic Operator Functions and Their Linearizations

We consider an operator function T in a Krein space which can formally be written as (0.1)but the last term on the right of (0.1) is replaced by a relatively form‐compact perturbation of a similar form. We study relations between the operator function T, a selfadjoint operator M in some Krein space, associated with T, and an operator which can be constructed with the help of the operator function –T^–1. The results are applied to a Sturm‐Liouville problem with a coefficient depending rationally on the eigenvalue parameter.     

Weyl’s theorem and thin spectra

Using the notion of thin sets we prove a theorem of Weyl type for the Wolf essential spectrum ofT ∈β (H). *Further we show that Weyl’s theorem holds for a restriction convexoid operator and consequently modify some results of Berberian. Finally we show that Weyl’s theorem holds for a paranormal operator and that a polynomially compact paranormal operator is a compact perturbation of a diagnoal normal operator. A structure theorem for polynomially compact paranormal operators is also given.     

Composition operators on a Banach space of analytic functions

In this paper, we study composition operators on a Banach space of analytic functions, denoted byX, which includes the Bloch space. This space arises naturally as the dual space of analytic functions in the Bergman spaceL _α ¹ (D) which admit an atomic decomposition. We characterize the functions which induce compact composition operators and those which induce Fredholm operatorson this space. We also investigate when a composition operator has a closed range. Some properties of the class of positive Dunford-Pettis operators

We characterize Banach lattices for which each positive Dunford-Pettis operator is M-weakly compact (resp. L-weakly compact) and we give some consequences.

In this paper,we study the compact operators on weighted Bergman spaces of the unit ball.Extending Miao and Zheng’result in 2004,we obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for the operator to be compact on weighted Bergman spaces of the unit ball under some integrable conditions.     

混合单调算子的不动点存在唯一性定理及其应用

本文首先讨论了一类混合单调算子方程组解的存在唯一性及非对称迭代逼近问题,得到了若干不具有连续性和紧性条件的有关混合单调算子、增算子和减算子的新不动点定理.其次研究了具有a-凹和-a-凸的不具有连续性和紧性条件的混合单调算子的不动点,并得到了一个新结果.最后,我们将所得结果应用于RN上的Hammerstein积分方程之中(参见文[1-12]).     

Approximate source conditions in Tikhonov–Phillips regularization and consequences for inverse problems with multiplication operators

The object of this paper is threefold. First, we investigate in a Hilbert space setting the utility of approximate source conditions in the method of Tikhonov–Phillips regularization for linear ill‐posed operator equations. We introduce distance functions measuring the violation of canonical source conditions and derive convergence rates for regularized solutions based on those functions. Moreover, such distance functions are verified for simple multiplication operators in L²(0, 1). The second aim of this paper is to emphasize that multiplication operators play some interesting role in inverse problem theory. In this context, we give examples of non‐linear inverse problems in natural sciences and stochastic finance that can be written as non‐linear operator equations in L²(0, 1), for which the forward operator is a composition of a linear integration operator and a non‐linear superposition operator. The Fréchet derivative of such a forward operator is a composition of a compact integration and a non‐compact multiplication operator. If the multiplier function defining the multiplication operator has zeros, then for the linearization an additional ill‐posedness factor arises. By considering the structure of canonical source conditions for the linearized problem it could be expected that different decay rates of multiplier functions near a zero, for example the decay as a power or as an exponential function, would lead to completely different ill‐posedness situations. As third we apply the results on approximate source conditions to such composite linear problems in L²(0, 1) and indicate that only integrals of multiplier functions and not the specific character of the decay of multiplier functions in a neighbourhood of a zero determine the convergence behaviour of regularized solutions. OnM-ideals and best approximation

In this paper we will prove some theorems on theM-ideals of compact operators and the best approximation of quasitriangular operator algebras. These results improve and extend the known results in [4, 5, 7].This work is supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.     

Extrinsic estimates for eigenvalues of the Dirac operator

For a compact spin manifold M isometrically embedded into Euclidean space, we derive the extrinsic estimates from above and below for eigenvalues of the square of the Dirac operator, which depend on the second fundamental form of the embedding. We also show the bounds of the ratio of the eigenvalues. Since the unit sphere and the projective spaces admit the standard embedding into Euclidean spaces, we also obtain the corresponding results for their compact spin submanifolds.     

A Generalization of Hankel Operators

We introduce a class of operators, called λ-Hankel operators, as those that satisfy the operator equation S*X−XS=λX, where S is the unilateral forward shift and λ is a complex number. We investigate some of the properties of λ-Hankel operators and show that much of their behaviour is similar to that of the classical Hankel operators (0-Hankel operators). In particular, we show that positivity of λ-Hankel operators is equivalent to a generalized Hamburger moment problem. We show that certain linear spaces of noninvertible operators have the property that every compact subset of the complex plane containing zero is the spectrum of an operator in the space. This theorem generalizes a known result for Hankel operators and applies to λ-Hankel operators for certain λ. We also study some other operator equations involving S.     

About positive Dunford-Pettis operators on Banach lattices

We give several characterizations of Banach lattices on which each positive Dunford-Pettis operator is compact. As consequences, we obtain new sufficient and necessary conditions under which a norm of a Banach lattice is order continuous, a positive weakly compact operator is compact and the dual operator of a positive Dunford-Pettis operator is Dunford-Pettis.     

On the composition operators on the Bloch space of several complex variables

In this paper we first look upon some known results on the composition operator as bounded or compact on the Bloch-type space in polydisk and ball, and then give a sufficient and necessary condition for the composition operator to be compact on the Bloch space in a bounded symmetric domain.

Lipschitz compact operators

We introduce the notion of Lipschitz compact (weakly compact, finite-rank, approximable) operators from a pointed metric space X into a Banach space E. We prove that every strongly Lipschitz p-nuclear operator is Lipschitz compact and every strongly Lipschitz p-integral operator is Lipschitz weakly compact. A theory of Lipschitz compact (weakly compact, finite-rank) operators which closely parallels the theory for linear operators is developed. In terms of the Lipschitz transpose map of a Lipschitz operator, we state Lipschitz versions of Schauder type theorems on the (weak) compactness of the adjoint of a (weakly) compact linear operator.     

Composition Operators on the Bloch Space of Several Complex Variables

Abstract In this paper, we study the boundedness and compactness of composition operator C _φ on the Bloch space β(Ω), Ω being a bounded homogeneous domain. For Ω = B _n, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for a composition operator C _φ to be compact on β(B _n) or β ₀(B _n). Algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet space

We study some algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet space. We first characterize (semi-)commuting Toeplitz operators with harmonic symbols. Next we study the product problem of when product of two Toeplitz operators is another Toeplitz operator. As an application, we show that the zero product of two Toeplitz operators with harmonic symbol has only a trivial solution. Also, the corresponding compact product problem is studied.
