In this article. First, we construct some nonlinear differential systems which are equivalent to some known systems. Second, we discuss, in a different method, the equivalence between some linear differential systems. In the paper we solve the equivalence problem of the third-order ordinary differential equations quadratic in the second-order derivative. For this class of equations the invariants of the group of point equivalence transformations and the invariant differentiation operators are constructed. Using these results the invariants of 13 Chazy equations were calculated. We provide examples of finding equivalent equations by use of their invariants. Also two new examples of the equations linearizable by a local transformation are found. These are a particular case of Chazy–XII equation and a Schwarzian equation.  相似文献

Finite-dimensional approximations are developed for retarded delay differential equations (DDEs). The DDE system is equivalently posed as an initial-boundary value problem consisting of hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs). By exploiting the equivalence of partial derivatives in space and time, we develop a new PDE representation for the DDEs that is devoid of boundary conditions. The resulting boundary condition-free PDEs are discretized using the Galerkin method with Legendre polynomials as the basis functions, whereupon we obtain a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) that is a finite-dimensional approximation of the original DDE system. We present several numerical examples comparing the solution obtained using the approximate ODEs to the direct numerical simulation of the original non-linear DDEs. Stability charts developed using our method are compared to existing results for linear DDEs. The presented results clearly demonstrate that the equivalent boundary condition-free PDE formulation accurately captures the dynamic behaviour of the original DDE system and facilitates the application of control theory developed for systems governed by ODEs.  相似文献

J. 91 (1966) 127–129] to obtain new sufficient conditions for the asymptotic equivalence of linear and quasilinear systems of ordinary differential equations. Yakubovich’s result [V.V. Nemytskii, V.V. Stepanov, Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, Princeton University Press, Princeton, New Jersey, 1966; V.A. Yakubovich, On the asymptotic behavior of systems of differential equations, Mat. Sb. 28 (1951) 217–240] on the asymptotic equivalence of a linear and a quasilinear system is developed. On the basis of the equivalence, the existence of asymptotically almost periodic solutions of the systems is investigated. The definitions of biasymptotic equivalence for the equations and biasymptotically almost periodic solutions are introduced. Theorems on the sufficient conditions for the systems to be biasymptotically equivalent and for the existence of biasymptotically almost periodic solutions are obtained. We consider problems of the linear theory of systems of ordinary differential equations related to the investigation of invariant hyperplanes of these systems, the notion of equivalence for these systems, and the Floquet–Lyapunov theory for periodic systems of linear equations. In particular, we introduce the notion of equivalence of systems of linear differential equations of different orders, propose a new formula of the Floquet form for periodic systems, and present the application of this formula to the introduction of amplitude–phase coordinates in a neighborhood of a periodic trajectory of a dynamical system.  相似文献

We prove that the Meyer wavelet basis and a class of brushlet systems associated with exponential type partitions of the frequency axis form a family of equivalent (unconditional) bases for the Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin function spaces. This equivalence is then used to obtain new results on nonlinear approximation with brushlets in Triebel-Lizorkin spaces.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a general class of systems of two linear hyperbolic equations. Motivated by the existence of the Laplace invariants for the single linear hyperbolic equation, we adopt the problem of finding differential invariants for the system. We derive the equivalence group of transformations for this class of systems. The infinitesimal method, which makes use of the equivalence group, is employed for determining the desired differential invariants. We show that there exist four differential invariants and five semi-invariants of first order. Applications of systems that can be transformed by local mappings to simple forms are provided.  相似文献

Finding an equivalence between two feedback control systems is treated as a problem in the theory of partial differential equation systems. The mathematical aim is to embed the Jakubzyk-Respondek, Hunt-Meyer-Su work on feedback linearization in the general theory of differential systems due to Lie, Cartan, Vessiot, Spencer, and Goldschmidt. We do this by using the functor taking control systems into differential systems, and studying the equivalence invariants of such differential systems. After discussing the general case, attention is focussed on the special situation of most immediate practical importance, the theory of feedback linearization. In this case, the general system for feedback equivalence becomes a system of linear partial differential equations. Conditions are found that the general solution of this system may be described in terms of a Frobenius system and certain differential-algebraic operations.This work was supported by grant from the Ames Research Center of NASA and the Applied Mathematics Program of the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

We consider the equivalence problem for underdetermined systems of ordinary differential equations. We present canonical forms for some types of autonomous systems linear in the derivatives. We consider systems of Euler–Lagrange equations with two degrees of freedom and with Lagrangian being quadratic in velocities. For this class of equations the generic case of the equivalence problem is solved with respect to point transformations. Using Lie?s infinitesimal method we construct a basis of differential invariants and invariant differentiation operators for such systems. We describe certain types of Lagrangian systems in terms of their invariants. The results are illustrated by several examples.  相似文献

The Ritt problem asks if there is an algorithm that decides whether one prime differential ideal is contained in another one if both are given by their characteristic sets. We give several equivalent formulations of this problem. In particular, we show that it is equivalent to testing whether a differential polynomial is a zero divisor modulo a radical differential ideal. The technique used in the proof of this equivalence yields algorithms for computing a canonical decomposition of a radical differential ideal into prime components and a canonical generating set of a radical differential ideal. Both proposed representations of a radical differential ideal are independent of the given set of generators and can be made independent of the ranking.  相似文献

Whereas Lie had linearized scalar second order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by point transformations, and later Chern had extended to the third order by using contact transformation, till recently no work had been done for higher order (or systems) of ODEs. Lie had found a unique class defined by the number of infinitesimal symmetry generators but the more general ODEs were not so classified. Recently, classifications of higher order and systems of ODEs were provided. In this paper we relate contact symmetries of scalar ODEs with point symmetries of reduced systems. We define a new type of transformation that builds upon this relation and obtain equivalence classes of scalar third order ODEs linearizable via these transformations. Four equivalence classes of such equations are seen to exist.  相似文献

A general analysis of special classes of symmetric two-tensor on Riemannian manifolds is provided. These tensors arise in connection with special topics in differential geometry and analytical mechanics: geodesic equivalence and separation of variables. It is shown that they play an important role in the theory of correspondent (or equivalent) dynamical systems of Levi-Civita. By applying some new developments of this theory, it is shown that the recent notions of cofactor and cofactor-pair systems arise in a natural way, as non-Lagrangian systems having a Lagrangian equivalent. This circumstance extends the Hamiltonian methods, including the separation of variables of the Hamilton–Jacobi equation, to a special class of nonconservative systems. In this extension the case of indefinite metrics, may occur. Two semigroups are called strongly Morita equivalent if they are contained in a Morita context with unitary bi-acts and surjective mappings. We consider the notion of context equivalence which is obtained from the notion of strong Morita equivalence by dropping the requirement of unitariness. We show that context equivalence is an equivalence relation on the class of factorisable semigroups and describe factorisable semigroups that are context equivalent to monoids or groups, and semigroups with weak local units that are context equivalent to inverse semigroups, orthodox semigroups or semilattices.  相似文献

The asymptotic equivalence of systems of difference equations of linear and quasilinear type is investigated. The first result on the asymptotic equivalence of linear systems is a discrete analog of an improved version of the Levinson's well-known theorem on asymptotic equivalence of linear differential equations, while the second one providing conditions for asymptotic equivalence of linear and quasilinear systems is related to that of Yakubovich in differential equations case.  相似文献

We consider linear systems of ordinary differential equations with identically degenerate matrix multiplying the derivative of the unknown vector function. The matrices specifying the system are assumed to depend on a parameter. We obtain criteria for the continuous dependence of the solutions of the system on the parameter and the asymptotic equivalence of solutions of the original and perturbed systems.  相似文献
