The extraction of methyl orange or methylene blue from an aqueous phase to an organic phase of reverse micelles of alkyl glucosides was investigated. Dodecyl glucoside, a biodegradable and biocompatible surfactant, was employed as a kind of alkyl glucosides, since a stable Winsor II system consisting of the water-in-oil type microemulsion and aqueous phases was formed when an organic solution containing dodecyl glucoside was contacted with an aqueous solution. The water content in the reverse micellar organic phase increased with an increase in the concentration of dodecyl glucoside. The extraction ratio of dyes also increased with increasing the concentration of dodecyl glucoside. Furthermore, the extraction ratio of dyes was dramatically dependent upon the pH of an aqueous phase and temperature.  相似文献

In this paper, we demonstrate that the behavior of a set of eight large-sized negatively solvatochromic pyridinium N-phenolate betaine dyes reflects the principle transformations, occurring in aqueous micellar solutions of three cationic surfactants. As surfactants, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), n-octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (OTAC), and N-cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) were used. Normally, for such probes coupled with micelles, a red shift of the vis absorption band is expected as a result of a hydrophobization ("drying") of the micellar interface. However, under addition of electrolytes with anions such as tosylate, salicylate, and some n-alkanesulfonates or n-alkanecarboxylates to the micellar solutions, an unexpected effect was observed. Instead of a red shift, a blue shift of the vis absorption band of some of the dissolved betaine dyes was registered, as compared with the spectrum measured in pure aqueous micellar solutions of CTAB, OTAC, or CPB (Deltalambda(max) up to ca. 80 nm). This blue shift, indicating an increase in the polarity of the dye microenvironment, is explained by displacing the large dye dipoles from the thinned micelles toward the aqueous phase. The effect is well expressed at concentrations of C(betaine dye) approximately 10(-5) M, C(cationic surfactant) approximately 0.001 M, and C(organic anion) approximately 0.01 M. Transmission electron microscopy of dried samples confirms the distinct changes occurring in the studied micellar systems upon the addition of organic anions. The excess of inorganic salts [C(NaBr, KBr, or KCl) = 0.5-4.0 M] restored the position of the vis absorption band or even shifted it toward the red. Moreover, some of the betaine dyes studied (i.e., the more hydrophobic ones) stay in the micellar pseudophase or precipitate under the aforementioned concentration conditions. The TiO2/beta‐SiC nanocomposites containing 0–25 wt. % of beta‐SiC were synthesized by the sol‐gel method and tested in the photodegradation of methylene blue and methyl orange water solutions. With the increase in SiC content, only a slight decrease in energy band gap was observed (3.19–3.12 eV), together with significant increase in the surface area of the catalysts (42.7–80.4 m2 g?1). In the synthesized material, the anatase phase of TiO2 was present in the form of small agglomerates resulting from the mechanical mixing process. In the process conditions (catalyst concentration 0.5 g L?1, initial dye concentration 100 ppm, light source 100 W UV‐Vis lamp), we have observed no signs of catalyst deactivation. The significantly higher photodegradation activity of methylene blue than methyl orange can be attributed to the preferable pH of the solution compared to pHPZC and the cationic character of the first dye. In case of methyl orange, pH process conditions substantially limit the contact of the catalyst with the dye, as negatively charged surface of the catalysts repels the dissociated anionic dye molecules.  相似文献

Nonaqueous reverse micelles of brij surfactants are prepared in benzene and ethylammonium nitrate (EAN). The effect of polar head group bulk on reverse micellar size was studied with brij-52, brij-56 and brij-58 whereas the effect of polarity of hydrocarbon chain was investigated taking brij-52 and brij-93 with varying W(s) (W(s)=[EAN]/[surfactant]). Dynamic light scattering (DLS) has been employed to reveal the size and shape of the reverse micelles. Micropolarities of these reverse micelles were investigated by visible spectroscopy using methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) as molecular optical probes. It has been revealed from the experimental results that with increase in polar head group size reverse micellar size increases. Moreover, it is also observed that with increasing polarity of the hydrocarbon chain the average size of the reverse micelles decreases. It can be concluded that polar head group size and polarity of hydrocarbon chain play important roles in determining reverse micellar size of the brij surfactants apart from the W(s) ratio, nature of the solvent medium, and concentration of the surfactants.  相似文献

To remove methylene blue dye from water by adsorption, bentonites were modified by polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) and three kind of quaternary ammonium surfactants (dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, tetrabutyl ammonium bromide, cetyl trimethylammonium bromide) in aqueous solution. Systematic adsorption experiments were carried out, the adsorption mechanism was studied, and the factors governing the adsorption of methylene blue on modified bentonite were discussed. The adsorption capacity of methylene blue on all three modified bentonites in 1000 mg·L−1 solutions quickly reached equilibrium within 2000 s, and the removal rate was basically 100%; however, the removal rate in raw bentonite samples was only 60%. The pseudo second-order kinetic model can provide satisfactory kinetic data fitting. The obtained adsorption isotherms fit well with the Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm model. The thermodynamic results showed that the adsorption process was a spontaneous endothermic physical adsorption process. With increasing pH and KCl concentration, the removal of methylene blue increased significantly. The results of this study confirmed that the modified bentonite is a candidate material as a cationic dye adsorbent.  相似文献

Micelle size and shape of dodecyldimethylammonium bromide have been determined by measurement of light scattering from its aqueous NaBr solutions. In water and in the presence of NaBr up to 0.07 M, the Debye plots give straight lines with positive slopes, and spherical micelles having molecular weight less than 30 000 are formed. At higher NaBr concentrations, the Debye plots decrease with increasing micelle concentration, indicating the aggregation of the primary spherical micelles into larger secondary micelles. The molecular weight and the radius of gyration of the secondary micelles increase with increasing NaBr concentration, and the relation between molecular weight and radius of gyration suggests that they are rodlike and flexible. Linear logarithmic relations between micelle molecular weight and ionic strength hold for spherical and rodlike micelles, respectively, and the threshold concentration of NaBr for the sphere-rod transition is located at 0.07 M. The spherical micelle of dodecyldimethylammonium ions has a size more than 20 surfactant ions larger in NaBr solutions than in NaCl solutions, and their rodlike micelle has a shorter length in NaBr solutions than in NaCl solutions, when compared at an identical aggregation number, indicating 2 more surfactant ions in its cross-section.  相似文献

The effect of alkali halides (NaBr, NaCl, KCl) on the interactions between the cationic gemini surfactant hexylene-1,6-bis(dodecyldimethylammonium bromide) (12-6-12) and the anionic polyelectrolyte sodium polyacrylate (NaPAA) in aqueous solution has been investigated by fluorescence emission spectroscopy, UV transmittance, zeta potential, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). With increased addition of NaBr, a counterbalancing salt effect on the critical aggregation concentration (CAC) is observed. At low concentrations, NaBr facilitates the formation of micelle-like structures between surfactant and polyelectrolyte and results in a smaller CAC. At high concentrations, NaBr screens the electrostatic attraction between surfactant and polyelectrolyte and leads to a larger CAC. Upon the formation of micelle-like structures at high surfactant concentrations, the addition of NaBr is favorable for larger aggregates. The microstructure detected by TEM show that a global structure is generally formed in the presence of NaBr. The interactions also depend on ion species. Compared to NaBr, the addition of NaCl or KCl yields a smaller CAC.  相似文献

 Nonionic poly(oxyethylene) surfactant with about ten ethylene oxide units and 1-butanol have been studied in reverse micelles with one nonpolar solvent(n-octane) at different water contents in the presence and in the absence of poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) using two absorption probes, methyl orange and methyl blue MB and one spin probe, 5-doxylstearic acid. The study has focused attention on the effect of the addition of PEO on the phase behavior of the system, the state of water in the reverse micelles, and the locus of PEO solubilized in reverse micelles. In the presence of PEO, some PEO segments may penetrate into the interface close to the palisade layer of the reverse micelles and then replace some water molecules, which results in a less close arrangement between the chains of surfactants as well as between alcohol molecules. A facile and efficient approach for the fabrication of mesoporous spherical aggregates of anatase nanocrystals is reported in this paper. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide was used as the structure-directing agent, and the interaction between cyclohexane microdroplets and the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide self-assemblies led to the assembly of 4-5-nm-sized anatase nanocrystals into spherical aggregates with mesoporous structures. The as-prepared anatase powders exhibited high photocatalytic activity and could be effectively used as the catalyst for the room-temperature photodegradation of a variety of organic dye pollutants in aqueous media including methyl orange, bromopyrogallol red, and methylene blue.  相似文献

An aqueous two-phase system of dodecyl triethylammonium bromide (C12NE, cationic surfactant) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS, anionic surfactant) mixture is proposed for the extraction of some dyes and porphyrin compounds. Transparent two phase-systems are formed when the surfactant concentrations and C12NE/SDS ratios are in certain regions. In this study, the aqueous two phase-systems were prepared by mixing 0.1 mol l−1 C12NE and SDS with a molar ratio of 1.7:1.0. The results showed that negatively charged chlorophyll (sodium copper chlorophyllin) and positively charged dye (methyl violet) were efficiently extracted into the upper phase. The negatively charged methyl orange (pH>7) was moved into the upper phase mostly while amphoteric methyl orange (pH<3) was distributed in the two phases uniformly. Except for hydrophobic force, charge interaction between solute and surfactant also play an important role in the extraction process.  相似文献

The temperature effects on the absorption spectra of acridine orange and methylene blue in aqueous solution at various concentrations have been observed, and it was found that the increase in temperature has an effect on the spectra similar to that of the dilution. The heats of dimerization of the dyestuffs in aqueous solution have been measured directly by the calorimetric titration method, and ΔHd for acridine orange and methylene blue were found to be ?49.6 and ?83.3 kJ mol?1, respectively. The entropy of dimerization values were also calculated to be ΔSd = ?54.9 and ?211.6 J K?1 mol?1 for acridine orange and methylene blue, respectively. It has been concluded that the stacking interactions are primarily responsible for the self-association of the dye molecules.  相似文献

Dyes commonly used as biological labels have been used to probe resonance energy transfer in organized media. In neat water, energy transfer between the dye pairs fluorescein (donor):Nile red (acceptor) and acridine orange (donor):Nile red (acceptor) has a very low probability of occurrence. This study shows that the rate constant of energy transfer increases by more than an order of magnitude in organized surfactant media, viz., micelles and reverse micelles of the surfactant Triton X-100. The reverse micelles provide a better medium for energy transfer than the micelles. The energy transfer studies also provide an idea about the location and proximity of donor and acceptor dyes within the various organized media. Assuming Poissonian statistics for dye distribution, the donor-acceptor distances within micelles and reverse micelles are determined from energy transfer parameters. Acridine orange has been found to function better as a donor than fluorescein. This may be due to steric and electrostatic factors.  相似文献

The structural properties of Au/TiO2 catalyst were studied by X-ray diffraction, UV-visible diffuse reflectance, photoluminescene, scanning transmission and electron microscope, and temperature programmed reduction. The photocatalytic activity of the catalysts was evaluated for the degradation of various azo-dyes such as methylene blue, methyl orange, reactive blue-4, and eosin-B under solar irradiation. It was found that TiO2 catalyst modified with gold exhibits higher percentage of degradation compared to starting TiO2. For example, TiO2 showed 35% of methyl orange degradation whereas gold modified TiO2 possessed 82%. Effect of different parameters such as pH and dye concentration has been evaluated and the photocatalytic activity was correlated with physico-chemical properties. The dye degradation rate followed first order kinetics.  相似文献

The aggregation behavior of the DNA marker dye thiazole orange (TO), has been investigated in two types of surfactant assemblies, namely, premicelles/micelles of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and pre reverse micelles/reverse micelles of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT). In the case of an SDS/water system, absorption spectral changes of TO signify the formation of H-aggregates and H-dimers of the dye at premicellar concentrations, which subsequently convert to the monomeric form beyond the critical micellar concentration (cmc). Interestingly, the observed changes in the absorption and emission characteristics due to the surfactant-induced formation of H-aggregates/dimers of TO are found to be useful to estimate the surfactant concentration parameters for premicellar aggregation of SDS. In the case of an AOT/n-heptane system, similarly, H-aggregates/dimers are observed at low AOT concentrations, below the cmc. However, in this case, the H-dimers persist even beyond the cmc. This is attributed to the strong tendency of TO for self-aggregation and its favorable electrostatic interactions with the AOT head groups. With increasing water content in the AOT reverse micelles, the hydration of the dye leads to the conversion of H-dimers to the monomeric form. The steady-state fluorescence results are nicely corroborated with those from time-resolved fluorescence studies and demonstrate the interesting behavior of the surfactant-induced aggregation of TO dye.  相似文献

 考察了微量 Mn2+离子在 NaHCO3 溶液中催化 H2O2 氧化降解有机污染物的性能. 结果表明, NaHCO3, MnCl2 和 H2O2 浓度分别为 25, 0.1 和 100 mmol/L 时, 在 25 oC 下反应 180 min 后亚甲基蓝可完全脱色, 化学耗氧量和总有机碳去除率分别达到 44.0% 和 13.8%. 该催化体系对甲基橙、罗丹明 B 以及垃圾渗滤液等都有较好去除效果. 紫外-可见光谱分析及反应动力学测试表明, MnIV=O 是该催化体系主要活性物种.  相似文献

The premicellar and micelle formation behavior of dye surfactant ion pairs in aqueous solutions monitored by surface tension and spectroscopic measurements has been described. The measurements have been made for three anionic sulfonephthalein dyes and cationic surfactants of different chain lengths, head groups, and counterions. The observations have been attributed to the formation of closely packed dye surfactant ion pairs which is similar to nonionic surfactants in very dilute concentrations of the surfactant. These ion pairs dominate in the monolayer at the air-water interface of the aqueous dye surfactant solutions below the CMC of the pure surfactant. It has been shown that the dye in the ion pair deprotonates on micelle formation by the ion pair surfactants at near CMC but submicellar surfactant concentrations. The results of an equilibrium study at varying pH agree with the model of deprotonated 1:1 dye-surfactant ion pair formation in the near CMC submicellar solutions. At concentrations above the CMC of the cationic surfactant the dye is solubilized in normal micelles and the monolayer at the air-water interface consists of the cationic surfactant alone even in the presence of the dyes.  相似文献

近红外(NIR)光谱技术可用于表征氯仿体系中反胶团增溶水的能力. 对于C12-s-C12•2Br (s=2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8)系列, 不论体系是否含有NaBr电解质, 由于具有较短联接链的表面活性剂易形成较大的反胶团, 其增溶水的能力随着联接链长度增加而降低. 与未含NaBr电解质的体系相比, 当体系中存在NaBr电解质时所形成的反胶团增溶水能力降低.  相似文献

Separation of the dyes methyl violet, methylene blue, and congo red from aqueous solutions by paper capillary permeation adsorption method was studied using paper. Nearly 100% of the investigated dyes could be separated under the optimum conditions. The effect of pH on the separation efficiency was studied in particular. At pH 5–9, 1.3–11, and 7–11, the maximum separation was achieved for methyl violet, methylene blue and congo red, respectively. The effects of dye concentration and some foreign ions on the separatability were examined. Moreover, the selective separation of some dyes was attempted by elution with chemical reagents.  相似文献
