Liouville Type Theorem About p-Harmonic Function and p-Harmonic Map with Finite L-Energy

This paper deals with the p-harmonic function on a complete non-compact submanifold M isometrically immersed in an (n + k)-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold (M) of non-negative (n-1)-th Ricci curvature.The Liouville type theorem about the p-harmonic map with finite Lq-energy from complete submanifold in a partially nonnegatively curved manifold to non-positively curved manifold is also obtained.     

A Theorem of Liouville Type for p-Harmonic Morphisms

In this article we prove a Liouville type theorem for p-harmonic morphisms. We show that if : MNis a p-harmonic morphism (p2) from a complete noncompact Riemannian manifold Mof nonnegative Ricci curvature into a Riemannian manifold Nof nonpositive scalar curvature such that the p-energy E _p (), or (2p–2)-energy E _2p–2() is finite, then is constant.

A Theorem of Liouville Type for Harmonic Morphisms

Let : M N be a harmonic morphism from a complete noncompact Riemannian manifold M with nonnegative Ricci curvature to a complete Riemannian manifold N with nonpositive scalar curvature. We show if the energy of is finite, then is constant. This can be compared with a similar result for harmonic maps when N has nonpositive sectional curvature due to Schoen and Yau.

On a Furstenberg-Katznelson-Weiss Type Theorem over Finite Fields

Using Fourier analysis, Covert, Hart, Iosevich, and Uriarte-Tuero (2008) showed that if the cardinality of a subset of the 2-dimensional vector space over a finite field with q elements is ≥ ρq ², with q^-1/2 << r ￡ 1{q^{-1/2} ll rho leq 1} then it contains an isometric copy of ≥ cρq ³ triangles. In this note, we give a graph theoretic proof of this result.

p-Energy and p-Harmonic Functions on Sierpinski Gasket Type Fractals

We show that it is possible to define a notion of p-energy for functions defined on a class of fractals including the Sierpinski gasket (SG) for any value of p, 1<p<, extending the construction of Kigami for p=2, as a renormalized limit of modified p-energies on a sequence of graphs. Our proof is non-constructive, and does not settle the question of uniqueness. Based on the p-energy we may define p-harmonic functions as p-energy minimizers subject to boundary conditions, but again uniqueness is only conjectural. We present some numerical data as a complement to our results. This work is intended to pave the way for an eventual theory of p-Laplacians on fractals.     

On a Garkavi Type Theorem for M-Ideals of Finite Codimension

A well-known result of Garkavi asserts that any proximinal subspace of finite codimension is an intersection of proximinal hyperplanes. In this article we investigate Banach spaces in which every M-ideal of finite codimension, is an intersection of M-ideals of codimension one. We show that for spaces that have M-ideals of codimension one, this property is preserved under c ₀-direct sums. We also consider this question for factor reflexive subspaces and M-summands of finite codimension.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of f-harmonic map with potential H with respect to the functional E _f,H . We use the stress-energy tensor to obtain some monotonicity formulas and Liouville type theorems for f-harmonic maps with potential H under some conditions on f and H.     

Liouville Type Theorems for Elliptic Equations with Gradient Terms

In this paper we obtain Liouville type theorems for nonnegative supersolutions of the elliptic problem ${-\Delta u + b(x)|\nabla u| = c(x)u}$ in exterior domains of ${\mathbb{R}^N}$ . We show that if lim ${{\rm inf}_{x \longrightarrow \infty} 4c(x) - b(x)^2 > 0}$ then no positive supersolutions can exist, provided the coefficients b and c verify a further restriction related to the fundamental solutions of the homogeneous problem. The weights b and c are allowed to be unbounded. As an application, we also consider supersolutions to the problems ${-\Delta u + b|x|^{\lambda}|{\nabla} u| = c|x|^{\mu} u^p}$ and ${-\Delta u + be^{\lambda |x|}|\nabla u| = ce^{\mu |x|}u^p}$ , where p > 0 and λ, μ ≥ 0, and obtain nonexistence results which are shown to be optimal.
