Wave scattering analysis implemented by boundary element methods (BEM) and the normal mode expansion technique is used to study the sizing potential of two-dimensional shaped defects in a wave guide. Surface breaking half-elliptical shaped defects of three opening lengths (0.3, 6.35 and 12.7 mm) and through-wall depths of 10–90% on a 10 mm thick steel plate were considered. The reflection and transmission coefficients of both Lamb and shear horizontal (SH) waves over a frequency range 0.05–2 MHz were studied. A powerfully practical result was obtained whereby the numerical results for the S0 mode Lamb wave and n0 mode SH wave at low frequencies showed a monotonic increase in signal amplitude with an increase in the defect through-wall depth. At high frequency (usually above the cut-off frequency of the A1 mode for Lamb waves and the n1 mode for SH waves, respectively), the monotonic trend does not hold in general due to the energy redistribution to the higher order wave modes. Guided waves impinging onto an internal stringer-like an inclusion were also studied. Both the Lamb and SH waves were shown to be insensitive to the stringer internal inclusions at low frequency. Experiments with piezoelectric Lamb wave transducers and non-contact SH wave electro-magnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT) verified some of the theoretical results.  相似文献

Micro actuators are irreplaceable part of motion control in minimized systems. The current study presents an analytical model for a new Hybrid Thermo Piezoelectric micro actuator based on the combination of piezoelectric and thermal actuation mechanisms. The micro actuator structure is a double PZT cantilever beam consisting of two arms with different lengths. The presented micro actuator uses the structure of electrothermal micro actuator in which polysilicon material is replaced by PZT. Also the voltage and poling directions are considered in the lengthwise of PZT beams. As a result, the piezoelectric actuation mechanism is based on d 33 strain coefficient. The tip deflection of micro actuator is obtained using Timoshenko beam theory. Analytical results are compared with FEM results along with other reported results in the literature. The effects of geometrical parameters and PZT material constants on actuator tip deflection are studied to provide an efficient optimization of HTP micro actuator.  相似文献

Lamb waves propagate over large distances in plate-like thin structures and they have received great attention in the structural health monitoring (SHM) field as an efficient means to inspect a large area of a structure by using only a small number of sensors. The times-of-flight of the Lamb wave modes are useful for detecting damage generated in a structure. However, due to the dispersive and multi-mode nature of Lamb waves, it is very challenging to decompose Lamb wave modes into symmetric and anti-symmetric modes for potential applications to structural health monitoring. Thus, we propose an efficient Lamb wave mode decomposition method based on two fundamental rules: the group velocity ratio rule and the mode amplitude ratio rule. The group velocity ratio rule means that the ratio of the group velocities of A0A0 and S0S0 modes must be constant. The mode amplitude ratio rule means that the ratio of the magnitudes of A0A0 and S0S0 modes in a measured response signal must be always greater than one once the center frequency of the input signal is determined, such that the magnitude of the A0A0 mode in the excited signal is larger than that of the S0S0 mode, and vice versa. The proposed method is verified through experiments conducted for a plate specimen.  相似文献

In this paper we present the results of a systematic theoretical and experimental investigation of the fundamental aspects of using piezoelectric wafe active sensors (PWASs) to achieve embedded ultrasonics in thin-gage beam and plate structures. This investigation opens the path for systematic application of PWASs forin situ health monitoring. After a comprehensive review of the literature, we present the principles of embedded PWASs and their interaction with the host structure. We give a brief review of the Lamb wave principles with emphasis on the understanding the particle motion wave speed/group velocity dispersion. Finite element modeling and experiments on thin-gage beam and plate specimens are presented and analyzed. The axial (S 0) and flexural (A 0) wave propagation patterns are simulated and experimentally measured. The group-velocity dispersion curves are validated. The use of the pulse-echo ultrasonic technique with embedded PWASs is illustrated using both finite element simulation and experiments. The importance of using high-frequency waves optimally tuned to the sensor-structure interaction is demonstrated. In conclusion, we discuss the extension of these results toin situ structural health monitoring using embedded ultrasonics.  相似文献

The radiation by a submerged fluid-filled cylindrical shell in response to a transient external pressure pulse is considered, and a semi-analytical model based on the Reissner–Mindlin shell theory is employed to simulate the interaction numerically. Two types of radiated waves that have been previously seen in experimental images for a submerged evacuated cylindrical shell are observed in both the external and internal fluids, the symmetric Lamb waves S0 and the antisymmetric Lamb (or pseudo-Rayleigh) waves A0. The third type of radiated waves is also observed that has not been explicitly imaged either experimentally or numerically for a submerged evacuated cylindrical shell, and it is demonstrated that these waves are the Scholte–Stoneley waves A. The effect that the complex structure of the radiated field has on the wave phenomena in the internal fluid is analyzed for shells of several different thicknesses, and the results of this analysis are summarized in the form of diagrams suitable for the use at the pre-design stage.  相似文献

超声Lamb波具有传播距离远、衰减小等特点,广泛应用于板结构的无损检测。将Lamb波检测技术与时间反转理论相结合,能提高铝板中小缺陷的检测能力。采用多通道时间反转板中Lamb波聚焦方法对1mm厚的铝板中直径0.8mm通孔缺陷进行检测,检测结果显示多通道时间反转检测信号中形成了两处明显的聚焦,即直达波和缺陷回波聚焦,证明此方法有效提高了检测分辨铝板小缺陷的能力。最后通过直达波、缺陷回波两处聚焦的时间差和Lamb波S_0模态群速度,准确实现了铝板中小缺陷的定位。多通道时间反转Lamb波聚焦方法不仅得到了缺陷检测回波,而且准确实现了缺陷的定位,达到了提高铝板中小缺陷检测能力的目的。  相似文献

This paper investigates the three-dimensional (3D) scattering of guided waves by a through-thickness cavity with irregular shape in an isotropic plate. The scattered field is decomposed on the basis of Lamb and SH waves (propagating and non-propagating), and the amplitude of the modes is calculated by writing the nullity of the total stress at the boundary of the cavity. In the boundary conditions, the functions depend on the through-thickness coordinate, z, but contrary to the case where the cavity has a circular shape, they also depend on the angular coordinate θ. This is dealt with by projecting the z-dependent functions onto a basis of orthogonal functions, and by expanding the θ-dependent functions in Fourier series. Examples include the scattering of the S0, SH0 and A0 modes by elliptical cavities with different values of aspect ratio, and the scattering of the S0 mode by a cavity with an arbitrary shape. Results obtained with this model are compared with results obtained with the finite element (FE) method, showing very good agreement.  相似文献

Lamb waves using surface-bonded piezoelectric transducers (PZTs) have been widely used for nondestructive testing (NDT). However, the identification of individual Lamb wave modes and the subsequent data interpretation are often difficult due to the dispersive and multimodal natures of Lamb waves. To tackle the problem, a Lamb wave mode decomposition technique using concentric ring and circular PZTs is proposed. Its advantages over the conventional approaches are that (1) PZTs need to be placed only a single surface of a specimen and (2) mode decomposition can be performed at any desired frequency without changing the PZT size and/or spacing configuration. The proposed mode decomposition technique is formulated by solving 3D Lamb wave propagation equations considering the PZT size and shape, and this technique requires a specially designed dual PZT composed of concentric ring and circular PZTs. The effectiveness of the proposed technique for the Lamb wave mode decomposition is investigated through numerical simulation and experimental tests performed on an aluminum plate.  相似文献

本文采用电磁声传感器接收单一S0模态激励,测量Lamb波在板中不同深度的槽形裂纹处的反射与透射,用于对已知扩展长度的表面裂纹进行深度测量。然后分析了Lamb波模态的频散与波动特性,由超声Lamb波的波结构,近似计算了S0模态入射到裂纹时的反射系数。计算结果与实验结果一致。结果表明,Lamb波在有限长裂纹处的反射系数可采用二维模型中的反射系数求解公式近似求解。采用电磁超声传感器接收单一S0模态激励,重复测量稳定性高,适用于Lamb波反射系数的测量。Lamb波的反射系数与裂纹深度有很好的对应关系,可用于板表面已知长度裂纹的深度测量。  相似文献

对旋转运动柔性梁的时滞主动控制进行实验研究,验证时滞反馈控制的有效性. 实验中采用交流伺服电机带动柔性梁旋转运动,柔性梁上粘贴有压电作动器,用于控制梁的弹性振动. 实验研究考虑如下3种情况:(1)仅使用电机扭矩进行控制,电机扭矩存在时滞;(2)使用电机扭矩和压电作动器同时控制,仅压电作动器存在时滞;(3)使用电机扭矩和压电作动器同时控制,电机和压电作动器存在不同的时滞量. 重点通过实验验证时滞反馈控制的可行性和有效性.   相似文献

Nonlinear aeroelastic characteristics of sandwich beams with pyramidal lattice core are investigated, and the active flutter control of the nonlinear structural system is also studied using the piezoelectric actuator/sensor pair. In the structural modeling, Reddy’s third-order shear deformation theory is applied. Aerodynamic pressure is evaluated by the supersonic piston theory. Hamilton’s principle and the assumed mode method are used to derive the equation of motion. The proportional feedback and the optimal H control methods are performed to design the controller. In the robust control, the uncertainty caused by omitting the nonlinear terms of the control equation is taken into account, and the mixed sensitivity method is used to solve the problem. The nonlinear aeroelastic property of the sandwich beam is analyzed and is compared with that of the equivalent isotropic beam with the same weight to show the superior aeroelastic characteristics of the lattice sandwich beam. Controlled vibration responses under the two different controllers are calculated and compared. Simulation results show that the robust controller is much more effective than the proportional feedback controller in the flutter suppression of the nonlinear sandwich beam.  相似文献

The linear 3D piezoelasticity theory in conjunction with the versatile transfer matrix approach and the wave equation for the internal acoustic domain are employed for active non-stationary vibroacoustic response control of an arbitrarily thick, tri-laminate, fluid-filled, simply supported, piezocomposite cylindrical tank, excited by arbitrary (non-axisymmetric) time-dependent on-surface mechanical loads. The smart structure is composed of a supporting core layer of functionally graded orthotropic material perfectly bonded to inner and outer spatially distributed radially polarized functionally graded piezoceramic sensor and uniform force actuator (FGPM) layers. Active vibration damping is implemented by transferring the accumulated voltage on the sensor layer to the piezoelectric actuator layer in context of proportional and derivative control laws. Durbin's numerical inverse Laplace transform scheme is utilized to calculate the time response histories of the relevant interface displacement/stress components, center-point acoustic pressure, and actuator voltage, for selected loading configurations (i.e., concentrated step, impulse, and moving external loads). Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the adopted distributed sensing/actuation configuration together with the active damping control strategy in suppressing the vibroacoustic response of a three-layered (Ba2NaNb5O15/Al/PZT4) water-filled piezoelastic cylindrical tank. Limiting cases are considered and the validity of results is established by comparison with the available data as well as with the aid of a commercial finite element package.  相似文献

An infinite-dimensional approach for the active vibration control of a multilayered straight composite piezoelectric beam is presented. In order to control the excited beam vibrations, distributed piezoelectric actuator and sensor layers are spatially shaped to achieve a sensor/actuator collocation which fits the control problem. In the sense of von Kármán a nonlinear formulation for the axial strain is used and a nonlinear initial boundary-value problem for the deflection is derived by means of the Hamilton formalism. Three different control strategies are proposed. The first one is an extension of the nonlinear H-design to the infinite-dimensional case. It will be shown that an exact solution of the corresponding Hamilton–Jacobi–Isaacs equation can be found for the beam under investigation and this leads to a control law with optimal damping properties. The second approach is a PD-controller for infinite-dimensional systems and the third strategy makes use of the disturbance compensation idea. Under certain observability assumptions of the free system, the closed loop is asymptotically stable in the sense of Lyapunov. In this way, flexural vibrations which are excited by an axial support motion or by different time varying lateral loadings, can be suppressed in an optimal manner. A numerical example serves both to illustrate the design process and to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methods.  相似文献

从理论上分析了板中Lamb波信号的传播特性,并给出Lamb波在板中传播的频散方程。理论分析及实验均表明,Lamb波的频散特性与复合材料结构损伤有着直接的联系,而且最低阶的对称和反对称Lamb波模态对层合板的损伤比较敏感,但应用Lamb波的频散效应监测结构的损伤在检测技术上还难以实现。根据板中导波形成Lamb波的共振原理,板中应力波的幅频特性很大程度上反映了Lamb波的谐振特征。因此,利用压电元件的压电阻抗谱分析应力波的各阶模态频率及振幅对结构损伤的变化,能够反映材料内部损伤与Lamb波的频散特性。文中针对表面粘贴压电元件的层合板智能结构,建立了包含Lamb波谐振模式的压电阻抗计算模型。冲击损伤试件的实验表明,由于结构损伤的出现压电阻抗谱中的模态频率及其阻抗幅值等特征信息将发生变化。因此,引入应力波损伤因子可以对结构冲击损伤的存在和程度进行初步评价。该方法基于结构的机-电动态阻抗特性,不受结构的几何形状限制,测试用的压电元件成本低,方法简单可行,有望在智能结构的健康诊断方面获得应用。  相似文献

压电致动器在现代工业中发挥着非常重要的作用。然而,目前应用的压电致动器均是基于线性压电效应,最大应变一般只有0.1-0.15%,实现大的致动应变一直是该领域学者追求的目标。本文中,我们提出了两种经过特殊设计的基于可逆非180°电畴翻转的PZT圆环多层致动器,一种是径向极化、部分电极(RPPE)的4层圆环,另一种是周期性正交极化(POP)的4层圆环,以期能够实现大的致动应变,而且圆环构型层数增加时也不容易发生失稳等问题。实验结果表明,在相同的驱动电场(2kV/mm,0.1Hz)下,4层RPPE最大致动应变为0.27%,约为普通PZT圆环的2倍,但表面变形很不均匀。相比之下,4层的POP圆环致动器的最大输出应变为0.36%,是普通PZT圆环的2.7倍。这两种致动器的致动应变都是随着频率的增加而减小, RPPE致动器在超过1Hz后稳定在0.19%, POP致动器在超过5Hz后稳定在0.2%。而且, POP圆环致动器重复性能很好,经过2万次致动循环后致动应变几乎不变。这种POP PZT多层圆环致动器具有结构稳定、输出应变大等优点,在致动领域具有很好的应用前景。  相似文献

采用比例反馈控制,由线弹性压电层合结构有限元动力方程,推导了压电智能结构的振动控制方程.采用三维八节点实体耦合单元(Solid5)模拟压电致动器/感应器,三维实体单元(Solid45)模拟主结构,利用ANSYS中参数化语言(APDL)编写了压电层合智能结构的有限元程序.以零一最优问题来描述致动器/感应器的位置优化问题,用遗传算法(GA)求解.以压电智能悬臂板为数值算例,采用比例反馈控制,研究了瞬时荷载作用下,最优位置和一般位置配置致动器/感应器时智能结构的控制效果.为了进一步验证本文方法的正确性,研究了简谐荷载作用下系统的控制效果.数值结果表明采用遗传算法搜索压电智能结构振动控制中压电致动器/感应器的最优位置是十分有效的并具有较高的计算效率.  相似文献

Piezoelectric bar-shaped resonators were proposed to act as hardness sensors in the 1960 s and stiffness sensors in the 1990 s based on the contact impedance method.In this work, we point out that both multilayer and unimorph(or bimorph) piezoelectric actuators could act as stiffness/modulus sensors based on the principle of mechanical contact resonance. First, the practical design and the performance of a piezoelectric unimorph actuator–based stiffness sensor were presented. Then the working principle of piezoelectric multilayer actuator–based stiffness sensors was given and verified by numerical investigation. It was found that for these two types of resonance-based sensors, the shift of the resonance frequency due to contact is always positive, which is different from that of the contact impedance method. Further comparative sensitivity study indicated that the unimorph actuator–based stiffness sensor is very suitable for measurement on soft materials, whereas the multilayer actuator–based sensor is more suitable for hard materials.  相似文献

The waves generated by an obstacle moving with constant velocity U along the axis of an inviscid, incompressible, infinitely conducting fluid with Hall current effects, rotating with an angular velocity are studied by Lighthill's technique. Three cases arise according as U>A 1, U=A 1 or U 1, where A 1 is the modified Alfven velocity due to Hall current term. In the cases U> and <A 1 the wave-number surface consists of two distinct spheres and four coincident planes. The waves corresponding to the points on the outer sphere trail behind and those on the inner sphere travel ahead of the disturbance if U>A 1 and vice-versa if U 1. When U=A 1 the wave-number surface consists of two coincident spheres and four coincident planes and the spherical waves are found both ahead and behind. By drawing appropriate normals to the four planes, it is seen that the formation of the Taylor column ahead of the disturbance is possible in all the cases.  相似文献

The dynamic stability of negative-velocity feedback control of piezoelectric composite plates using a finite element model is investigated. Lyapunov’s energy functional based on the derived general governing equations of motion with active damping is used to carry out the stability analysis, where it is shown that the active damping matrix must be positive semi-definite to guarantee the dynamic stability. Through this formulation, it is found that imperfect collocation of piezoelectric sensor/actuator pairs is not sufficient for dynamic stability in general and that ignoring the in-plane displacements of the midplane of the composite plate with imperfectly collocated piezoelectric sensor/actuator pairs may cause significant numerical errors, leading to incorrect stability conclusions. This can be further confirmed by examining the complex eigenvalues of the transformed linear first-order state space equations of motion. To overcome the drawback of finding all the complex eigenvalues for large systems, a stable state feedback law that satisfies the second Lyapunov’s stability criteria strictly is proposed. Numerical results based on a cantilevered piezoelectric composite plate show that the feedback control system with an imperfectly collocated PZT sensor/actuator pair is unstable, but asymptotic stability can be achieved by either bonding the PZT sensor/actuator pair together or changing the ply stacking sequence of the composite substrate to be symmetric. The performance of the proposed stable controller is also demonstrated. The presented stability analysis is of practical importance for effective design of asymptotically stable control systems as well as for choosing an appropriate finite element model to accurately predict the dynamic response of smart piezoelectric composite plates.  相似文献
