The biosorption of several heavy metals such as cobalt(II), chromium(III), lead(II), cadmium(II), nickel(II), and manganese(II) from aqueous systems on living microalgae cultures, Scenedesmus quadricauda and Neochloris pseudoalveolaris were studied under laboratories conditions. The kinetic and statistical parameters were calculated by using the data obtained from batch cultivation and well fitted a pseudo-first-order rate equation. The initial metal concentrations in solution were about 5–40 mg · L?1. According to the pseudo-second-order model, the biosorption capacities of Scenedesmus quadricauda for Co(II), Cr(III), Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), and Mn(II) ions were found in the ranges of 2.14–52.48, 1.98–81.98, 8.05–4.26, 7.81–24.96, 2.17–55.71, and 3.54–75.20 mg g?1, respectively. Kinetic studies revealed that the metal uptake capacity of each living green algae was rather fast. It was also observed that the biosorption kinetic rate decreased with increasing concentration for both microalgae. The application of diffusion-controlled models to the experimental results indicated that the contribution of intraparticle diffusion to the overall sorption kinetics was not very important. Results showed that Co(II), Cr(III), Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), and Mn(II) ions could effectively be absorbed by using living microalga cultures from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

In this study, the adsorption behavior of natural bentonite with respect to Fe(III) and Ni(II) has been studied in order to consider its application to purity metal finishing wastewaters. During the adsorption process, batch technique is used, and the effects of pH, bentoite amount, temperature, heavy metal concentration, bentonite treatment (calcinations of natural bentonite at 700°C, washing by deionized water to remove the excess salt from bentonite surface), and agitation time on adsorption efficiency are studied. The washed and calcined bentonite samples were labeled by WB and CB, respectively. The pH-dependence of Fe(III) and Ni(II) sorption on the bentonite is significantly more noticeable, indicating a major contribution of surface complexation at the edge sites. It was determined that adsorption of Fe(III) and Ni(II) is well fitted by the second order reaction kinetic. Furthermore, the sorption rate of Fe(III) was higher than the sorption rate of Ni(II). Adsorption of Fe(III) and Ni(II) on NB appeared to follow Langmuir isotherm. In addition, calculated and experimental adsorbed amounts of Fe(III) by the unit NB mass are very higher than Ni(II). The paper also discusses the thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption (the Gibbs free energy, entropy, and enthalpy). Our results demonstrate that the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic under natural conditions. Also the adsorption capacity of bentonite for Fe(III) Ni(II) and increases with increased bentonite dose. According to the equilibrium studies, the selectivity sequence can be given as Fe(III) > Ni(II). The adsorbed amount of Fe(III) and Ni(II) on washed bentonite (WB) were very higher compared to NB and CB. Our results show that bentonite could especially WB be considered as a potential adsorbent for Fe(III) and Ni(II) removal from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Pomegranate pulp has been used as novel adsorbent for removing Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution. The optimum conditions for removal of Cu(II) ions were found to be pH 5.32, biosorbent dose 0.1 g, contact time 120 minutes, initial concentration 50 mg/L, and temperature 30°C. The kinetic data were well fitted to the pseudo-second-order model. The biosorption process agreed with the Langmuir isotherm model. Maximum monolayer biosorption capacity was 7.30 mg/g. Thermodynamic parameters suggest that the biosorption process is spontaneous and exothermic. Desorption studies were carried out with different desorbing agents.   相似文献

Increased concentrations of heavy metals in the environment are of public health concern, their removal from waters receiving considerable interest. The aim of this paper was to study the simultaneous adsorption of heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Cr, Ni, Zn and Pb) from aqueous solutions using the zeolitic volcanic tuffs as adsorbents. The effect of thermal treatment temperature, particle size and initial metal concentrations on the metal ions sorption was investigated. The selectivity of used zeolite for the adsorption of studied heavy metals followed the order: Pb > Cr > Cu > Zn > Cd > Ni. The removal efficiency of the heavy metals was strongly influenced by the particle sizes, the samples with smaller particle size (0–0.05 mm) being more efficient in heavy metals removal than those with larger particle size (1–3 mm). Generally, no relevant changes were observed in heavy metals removal efficiency for the treatment temperatures of 200 °C and 350 °C. Moreover, at a higher temperature (550 °C), a decrease in the removal efficiencies was observed. The Cd, Zn, Cu, Cr, Zn and Ni sorption was best described by Langmuir model according to the high values of correlation coefficient. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model presented the best correlation of the experimental data.  相似文献

The biosorption of copper(II), lead(II), iron(III) and cobalt(II) on Bacillus sphaericus-loaded Diaion SP-850 resin for preconcentration-separation of them have been investigated. The sorbed analytes on biosorbent were eluted by using 1 mol L−1 HCl and analytes were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The influences of analytical parameters including amounts of pH, B. sphaericus, sample volume etc. on the quantitative recoveries of analytes were investigated. The effects of alkaline, earth alkaline ions and some metal ions on the retentions of the analytes on the biosorbent were also examined. Separation and preconcentration of Cu, Pb, Fe and Co ions from real samples was achieved quantitatively. The detection limits by 3 sigma for analyte ions were in the range of 0.20-0.75 μg L−1 for aqueous samples and in the range of 2.5-9.4 ng g−1 for solid samples. The validation of the procedure was performed by the analysis of the certified standard reference materials (NRCC-SLRS 4 Riverine Water, SRM 2711 Montana soil and GBW 07605 Tea). The presented method was applied to the determination of analyte ions in green tea, black tea, cultivated mushroom, boiled wheat, rice and soil samples with successfully results.  相似文献

Biosorption of Cu2+ and Pb2+ by Cladop- hora fascicularis was investigated as a function of initial pH, initial heavy metal concentrations, temperature and other co-existing ions. Adsorption equilibriums were well described by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The maximum adsorption capacities were 1.61 mmol/g for Cu2+ and 0.96 mmol/g for Pb2+ at 298 K and pH 5.0. The adsorption processes were endothermic and biosorption heats calculated by the Langmuir constant b were 39.0 and 29.6 kJ/mol for Cu2+ and Pb2+, respectively. The biosorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second order model. No significant effect on the uptake of Cu2+ and Pb2+ by co-existing cations and anions was observed, except EDTA. Desorption experiments indicated that Na2EDTA was an efficient desorbent for the recovery of Cu2+ and Pb2+ from biomass. The results showed that Cladophora fascicularis was an effective and economical biosorbent material for the removal and recovery of heavy metal ions from wastewater.  相似文献

In this work, the amino-functionalized cellulose nanocrystal (ACNC) was prepared using a green route and applied as a biosorbent for adsorption of Cr(VI), Pb2+, and Cu2+ from aqueous solutions. CNC was firstly oxidized by sodium periodate to yield the dialdehyde nanocellulose (DACNC). Then, DACNC reacted with diethylenetriamine (DETA) to obtain amino-functionalized nanocellulose (ACNC) through a Schiff base reaction. The properties of DACNC and ACNC were characterized by using elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Kaiser test, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and zeta potential measurement. The presence of free amino groups was evidenced by the FT-IR results and Kaiser test. ACNCs exhibited an amphoteric nature with isoelectric points between pH 8 and 9. After the chemical modification, the cellulose I polymorph of nanocellulose remained, while the crystallinity decreased. The adsorption behavior of ACNC was investigated for the removal of Cr(VI), Pb2+, and Cu2+ in aqueous solutions. The maximum adsorption capacities were obtained at pH 2 for Cr(VI) and pH 6 for Cu2+ and Pb2+, respectively. The adsorption all followed pseudo second-order kinetics and Sips adsorption isotherms. The estimated adsorption capacities for Cr(VI), Pb2+, and Cu2+ were 70.503, 54.115, and 49.600 mg/g, respectively.  相似文献

Hydro(solvo)thermal reactions of Cd(NO3)2, N-(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-4-(pyridin-4-yl)-1,8-naphthalimide (NI-mbpy-34), and 5-bromobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (Br-1,3-H2bdc) afforded a luminescent coordination polymer, {[Cd(Br-1,3-bdc)(NI-mbpy-34)(H2O)]∙2H2O}n (1). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that 1 features a two-dimensional (2-D) gridlike sql layer with the point symbol of (44·62), where the Cd(II) center adopts a {CdO5N2} pentagonal bipyramidal geometry. Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis confirmed the thermal stability of 1 up to about 340 °C, whereas XRPD patterns proved the maintenance of crystallinity and framework integrity of 1 in CH2Cl2, H2O, CH3OH, and toluene. Photoluminescence studies indicated that 1 displayed intense blue fluorescence emissions in both solid-state and H2O suspension-phase. Owing to the good fluorescent properties, 1 could serve as an excellent turn-off fluorescence sensor for selective and sensitive Cr(VI) detection in water, with LOD = 15.15 μM for CrO42 and 14.91 μM for Cr2O72, through energy competition absorption mechanism. In addition, 1 could also sensitively detect Cr3+, Fe3+, and Al3+ ions in aqueous medium via fluorescence-enhancement responses, with LOD = 2.81 μM for Cr3+, 3.82 μM for Fe3+, and 3.37 μM for Al3+, mainly through an absorbance-caused enhancement (ACE) mechanism.  相似文献

A series of granular pH-sensitive semi-interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN) hydrogels based on chitosan (CTS), acrylic acid (AA) and gelatine (GE) were utilized for the adsorption and recycle of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. The composite hydrogels have been characterized by FT-IR and TGA. The effects of contact time, pH value and initial Pb(II) concentration on the adsorption were investigated. Results indicated that the adsorption capacity of the hydrogel increased with increasing pH value and initial Pb(II) concentration, and a pH-sensitive adsorption characteristic was presented. The adsorption rate of the semi-IPN hydrogels on Pb(II) is fast with an adsorption rate constant of 14.9790 mg/(g·s), and adsorption equilibrium could be reached within 10 min. The adsorption isotherms of the hydrogels for Pb(II) could be described well by the Langmuir equation, rather than the Freundlich equation. The as-prepared hydrogels showed good reusability with 0.05 mol/l HNO3 solutions as the desorbing agent and 0.1 mol/l NaOH solutions as the regeneration agent, respectively. After five consecutive adsorption-desorption processes, the semi-IPN hydrogel with 20 wt% GE may reach 85.26% of its initial adsorption capacity. In addition, the adsorbed Pb(II) can be quantitatively recovered by simply eluting the hydrogel with dilute HNO3 solution, and a recovery ratio of 89.27% was reached for the semi-IPN hydrogel. The satisfactory adsorption amount is mainly derived from the chelating of functional groups (i.e. –COO? and –NH2) with Pb(II) ions. The hydrogel adsorbents exhibited excellent affinity for Pb(II), and can be applied to treat wastewater containing heavy metal ion and simultaneously recover the valuable metal sources.  相似文献

The thermal decompositions of the complexes of N,N-dialkyl-N'-benzoylthioureas with Cu(II), Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Cd(II), Ru(III) and Fe(III) were studied by TG and DTA techniques. These metal complexes decompose in two stages: elimination of dialkylbenzamide, and total decomposition to metal sulphides or metals. The influence of the alkyl substituents in these benzoylthiourea chelates on the thermal behaviour of the metal complexes was investigated. This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Silica gel chemically bonded with aminothioamidoanthraquinone was synthesized and characterized. The metal sorption properties of modified silica were studied towards Pb(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Cd(II). The determination of metal ions was carried out on FAAS. For batch method, the optimum pH ranges for Pb(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) extraction were ≥3 but for Ni(II) and Co(II) extraction were ≥4. The contact times to reach the equilibrium were less than 10 min. The adsorption isotherm fitted the Langmuir's model showed the maximum sorption capacities of 0.56, 0.30, 0.15, 0.12 and 0.067 mmol/g for Pb(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Cd(II), respectively. In the flow system, a column packed modified silica at 20 mg for Pb(II) and Cu(II), 50 mg for Cd(II), 60 mg for Co(II), Ni(II) was studied at a flow rate of 4 and 2.5 mL/min for Ni(II). The sorbed metals were quantitatively eluted by 1% HNO3. No interference from Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl and SO42− at 10, 100 and 1000 mg/L was observed. The application of this modified silica gel to preconcentration of pond water, tap water and drinking water gave high accuracy and precision (%R.S.D. ≤ 9). The method detection limits were 22.5, 1.0, 2.9, 0.95, 1.1 μg/L for Pb(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Cd(II), respectively.  相似文献

The capacities of Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom and spent substrate were evaluated for the biosorption of cadmium (II) from aqueous solution in order to select the most efficient material for bioremediation. The optimum sorption conditions were optimized, including the pH of the aqueous solution, contact time, biomass dosage, initial metal concentration, and temperature. The sorption of cadmium on both biosorbents was also evaluated by several kinetic, equilibrium, and thermodynamic models. The possible heavy metal biosorption mechanisms were evaluated through point of zero charge (pHpzc), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDX). Based on the results of column studies, the effectiveness of the P. ostreatus spent substrate was confirmed as a biosorbent for Cd(II) removal from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

New metal complexes of Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with salicylidine-2-aminobenzimidazole (SABI) are synthesized and their physicochemical properties are investigated using elemental and thermal analyses, IR, conductometric, solid reflectance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The base reacts with these metal ions to give 1:1 (Metal:SABI) complexes; in cases of Fe(III), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions; and 1:2 (Metal:SABI) complexes; in case of Ni(II) ion. The conductance data reveal that Fe(III) complex is 2:1 electrolyte, Co(II) is 1:2 electrolyte, Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes are 1:1 electrolytes while Ni(II) is non-electrolyte. IR spectra showed that the ligand is coordinated to the metal ions in a terdentate mannar with O, N, N donor sites of the phenloic -OH, azomethine -N and benzimidazole -N3. Magnetic and solid reflectance spectra are used to infer the coordinating capacity of the ligand and the geometrical structure of these complexes. The thermal decomposition of the complexes is studied and indicates that not only the coordinated and/or crystallization water is lost but also that the decomposition of the ligand from the complexes is necessary to interpret the successive mass loss. Different thermodynamic activation parameters are also reported, using Coats-Redfern method. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

New synthesis of Co(II), Cu(II), Hg(II), UO2(II) and Pb(II) binuclear nanometric complexes derived from multi‐donor ligand is reported. Structural and molecular formulae of all isolated complexes were established. Bi‐negative hexa‐dentate mode of ligand was proposed for the two central atoms in all complexes. Infrared, UV–visible, magnetic moments, electron paramagnetic resonance, thermogravimetric analysis and elemental analysis were used to build all structural formulae. X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the morphological features of the compounds and to compute particle sizes. Theoretical computations were implemented to support the proposed formulae. Kinetic study was executed over suitable stages to clarify the comparative stabilities. The DFT/B3LYP method, using the Gaussian 09 program, was utilized for optimizing the distribution of atoms over all compounds except the UO22+ complex. This exclusion refers to an inability to find a suitable method. Significant parameters were estimated using frontier energies (highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals) and data log file. A quantitative structure–activity relationship study applying HyperChem was executed for the organic compound tautomer forms to give a significant view about their biological character. AutoDock tools 4.2 were used to investigate the biological trend of organic compounds (keto and enol) against three types of proteins. The types were chosen related to in vitro investigation: breast, prostate and liver carcinoma proteins. IC50 values indicated insignificant inhibition activity towards all carcinoma cell lines under investigation, except for the Hg(II) complex which displayed distinct activity against breast carcinoma compared with reference drug (doxorubicin).  相似文献

Layered double hydroxide (LDH) with a Mg/Al molar ratio of 1 : 1 was synthesized by using a co-precipitation method and its calcined product (CLDH) was obtained by calcination of the MgAl-LDH at 500 ℃. The sorption removal of Pb^2+ from solution was investigated, finding that both LDH and CLDH show good sorption ability and they could be used as a new type of environmental sorbent for the removal of Pb^2+ from water. The sorption kinetics and the sorption isotherms of Pb^2+ on both LDH and CLDH can be described by the pseudo-second order kinetics and Freundlich isotherm, respectively, under the studied conditions. The sorption amounts of Pb^2+ on LDH and CLDH are independent of pH in a pH range of about 3-10. The presence of NaNO3 may inhibit the sorption of Pb^2+ on LDH while hardly affect that on CLDH. The sorption mechanism of Pb^2+ on LDH and CLDH may be attributed to the surface precipitation and the surface complex adsorption. The surface complex adsorption may be further distinguished to the chemical binding adsorption forming the inner-sphere surface complexes and the electrostatic binding adsorption forming the outer-sphere surface complexes. The sorption mechanism of Pb^2+ on LDH may be attributed to the surface precipitation and the electrostatic binding adsorption, while that on CLDH may be attributed to the surface precipitation and the chemical binding adsorption.  相似文献

A new Schiff base was prepared from the reaction of 4,4′‐methylenedianiline with 2‐benzoylpyridine in 1:2 molar ratio, as well as its different metal chelates. The structures of the ligand and its metal complexes were studied by elemental analyses, spectroscopic methods (infrared [IR ], ultraviolet–visible [UV –vis], 1H nuclear magnetic resonance [NMR ], electron spin resonance [ESR ]), magnetic moment measurements, and thermal studies. The ligand acts as tetradentate moiety in all complexes. Octahedral geometry was suggested for Mn(II ), Cu(II ), Cr(III ), and Zn(II ) chloride complexes and pentacoordinated structure and square planar geometry for Co(II ), Ni(II ), Cu(NO3 )2, CuBr2 , and Pd(II ) complexes. ESR spectra of copper(II ) complexes ( 4 )–( 6 ) at room temperature display rhombic symmetry for complex ( 4 ) and axial type symmetry for complexes ( 5 ) and ( 6 ), indicating ground state for Cu(II ) complexes. The derivative thermogravimetric (DTG ) curves of the ligand and its metal complexes were analyzed by using the rate equation to calculate the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters, which indicated strong binding of the ligand with the metal ion in some complexes. Also, some of these compounds were screened to establish their potential as anticancer agents against the human hepatic cell line Hep‐G2 . The obtained IC50 value of the copper(II ) bromide complex (4.34 µg/mL ) is the highest among the compounds studied.  相似文献

Zn(II) ions sorption onto N‐Benzoyl‐N‐Phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) impregnated polyurethane foam (PUF) has been studied extensively using radiotracer and batch techniques. Maximum sorption (~98%) of Zn(II) ions (8.9 × 10?6 M) onto sorbent surface is achieved from a buffer of pH 8 solution in 30 minutes using 7.5 mg/mL of BPHA‐impregnated polyurethane foam at 283 K. The sorption data follow Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin‐Radushkevich (D‐R) isotherms. The Langmuir constants Q = 18.01 ± 0.38 μ mole g?1 and b = (5.39 ± 0.98) × 103 L mole?1 have been computed. Freundlich constants 1/n = 0.29 ± 0.01 and Cm = 111.22 ± 12.3 μ mole g?1 have been estimated. Sorption capacity 31.42 ± 1.62 μ mole g?1, β = ?0.00269 ± 0.00012 kJ2 mole?2 and energy 13.34 ± 0.03 kJ mole?1 have been evaluated using D‐R isotherm. The variation of sorption with temperature yields ΔH = ?77.7 ± 2.8 k J mole?1, ΔS = ?237.7 ± 9.3 J mole?1 K?1 and ΔG = ?661.8 ± 117.5 k J mol?1 at 298 K reflecting the exothermic and spontaneous nature of sorption. Cations like Fe(III), Ce(III), Al(III), Pb(II) and Hg(II) and anions, i.e., oxalate, EDTA and tartrate, reduce the sorption significantly, while iodide and thiocyanate enhanced the sorption of Zn(II) ions onto BPHA‐impregnated polyurethane foam.  相似文献
