This paper is devoted to stability analysis of the acoustic wave equation exterior to a bounded scatterer, where the unbounded computational domain is truncated by the exact time-domain circular/spherical nonreflecting boundary condition (NRBC). Different from the usual energy method, we adopt an argument that leads to $L^2$-a priori estimates with minimum regularity requirement for the initial data and source term. This needs some delicate analysis of the involved NRBC. These results play an essential role in the error analysis of the interior solvers (e.g., finite-element/spectral- element/spectral methods) for the reduced scattering problems. We also apply the technique to analyze a time-domain waveguide problem.  相似文献

Abstract In this paper, a new kind of discrete non-reflecting boundary conditions is developed.It can be usedfor a variety of wave equations such as the acoustic wave equation, the isotropic and anisotropic elastic waveequations and the equations for wave propagation in multi-phase media and so on.In this kind of boundaryconditions,the composition of all artifical reflected waves,but not the individual reflected ones,is consideredand eliminated.Thus, it has a uniform formula for different wave equations.The velocity C_A of the composedreflected wave is determined in the way to make the reflection coefficients minimal,the value of which depends onequations.In this psper,the construction of the boundary conditions illustrated and C_A is found,numericalresults are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the boundary conditions.  相似文献

The Higdon sequence of Absorbing Boundary Conditions (ABCs) for the linear wave equation is considered. Building on a previous work of Ha-Duong and Joly, which related to other forms of boundary conditions, the Higdon ABCs are proved to be energy-stable (on the continuous level) up to any order. This type of stability is stronger than the more standard notion of stability of initial boundary value problems in the sense of Kreiss; in particular it leads to stability estimates which are uniform in time. In consequence to the theorem proved here, energy-stability is immediately implied for the high-order Givoli-Neta and Hagstrom-Warburton ABCs, which are reformulations of the Higdon ABCs using auxiliary variables. A weakness of this theory is that it requires sufficiently smooth data, and that the required smoothness level increases with the order of the ABC. This issue and its implications are discussed.  相似文献

<正>This paper deals with absorbing boundary conditions for hyperbolic systems in one and two space dimensions.We prove the strict well-posedness of the resulting initial boundary value problem in 1D.Afterwards we establish the GKS-stability of the corresponding Lax-Wendroff-type finite difference scheme.Hereby,we have to extend the classical proofs,since the(discretized) absorbing boundary conditions do not fit the standard form of boundary conditions for hyperbolic systems.  相似文献

In this paper, we aim to investigate the difference equation \begin{align*} \Delta^{2}y(t-1)+|y(t)|=0, \ \ \ \ \ t\in[1,T]_{\mathbb{Z}} \end{align*} with different boundary conditions $y(0)=0$ or $\Delta y(0)=0$ and $y(T+1)=B$ or $\Delta y(T)=B$,\ where\ $T\geq 1$ is an integer and $B\in\mathbb{R}$. We will show that how the values of $T$ and $B$ influence the existence and uniqueness of the solutions to the about problem. In details, for the different problems, the $TB$-plane explicitly divided into different parts according to the number of the solutions to the above problems. These parts of $TB$-plane for the value of $T$ and $B$ guarantee the uniqueness, the existence and the nonexistence of solutions respectively.  相似文献

We propose a new class of approximate local DtN boundary conditions to be applied on prolate spheroidal-shaped exterior boundaries when solving problems of acoustic scattering by elongated obstacles. These conditions are: (a) exact for the first modes, (b) easy to implement and to parallelize, (c) compatible with the local structure of the computational finite element scheme, and (d) applicable to exterior ellipsoidal-shaped boundaries that are more suitable in terms of cost-effectiveness for surrounding elongated scatterers. We investigate analytically and numerically the effect of the frequency regime and the slenderness of the boundary on the accuracy of these conditions. We also compare their performance to the second-order absorbing boundary condition (BGT2) designed by Bayliss, Gunzburger and Turkel when expressed in prolate spheroid coordinates. The analysis reveals that, in the low-frequency regime, the new second-order DtN condition (DtN2) retains a good level of accuracy regardless of the slenderness of the boundary. In addition, the DtN2 boundary condition outperforms the BGT2 condition. Such superiority is clearly noticeable for large eccentricity values.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the boundary stabilization of the wave equation with variable coefficients by Riemmannian geometry method subject to a different geometric condition which is motivated by the geometric multiplier identities. Several (multiplier) identities (inequalities) which have been built for constant wave equation by Kormornik and Zuazua are generalized to the variable coefficient case by some computational techniques in Riemmannian geometry, so that the precise estimates on the exponential decay rate are derived from those inequalitities. Also, the exponential decay for the solutions of semilinear wave equation with variable coefficients is obtained under natural growth and sign assumptions on the nonlinearity. Our method is rather general and can be adapted to other evolution systems with variable coefficients (e.g. elasticity plates) as well.  相似文献

This paper employs the weighted energy method to derive estimates for the dynamic behavior of solutions to boundary and initial boundary value problems with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. In particular, the method is applied to the heat and Laplace equations in a bounded or unbounded region. Extensions to related equations are also studied. Similar estimates but for the spatial behavior is obtained for the heat equation and the backward in time heat equation. Results for blow-up in finite time of solutions to certain nonlinear equations are generalized to include nonhomogeneous boundary conditions, while solutions that vanish on part of the boundary are briefly discussed in the final section.  相似文献
