In this paper,we propose a derivative-free trust region algorithm for constrained minimization problems with separable structure,where derivatives of the objective function are not available and cannot be directly approximated.At each iteration,we construct a quadratic interpolation model of the objective function around the current iterate.The new iterates are generated by minimizing the augmented Lagrangian function of this model over the trust region.The filter technique is used to ensure the feasibility and optimality of the iterative sequence.Global convergence of the proposed algorithm is proved under some suitable assumptions.  相似文献

Parallel algorithms for nonlinear programming problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper describes several parallel algorithms for solving nonlinear programming problems. Two approaches where parallelism can successfully be introduced have been explored: a quadratic approximation method based on penalty function and a dual method. These methods are improved by using two algorithms originally proposed for solving unconstrained problems: the parallel variable metric algorithm and the parallel Jacobson-Oksman algorithm. Even though general problems are dealt with, particular emphasis is placed on the potential of these parallel methods for separable programming problems. The numerical effectiveness of the algorithms is demonstrated on a set of test problems using a Cray-1S vector computer and serial computers (with respect to sequential versions of the same methods).These studies were sponsored in part by the CERT. This work shows how disjunctive cuts can be generated for a bilevel linear programming problem (BLP) with continuous variables. First, a brief summary on disjunctive programming and bilevel programming is presented. Then duality theory is used to reformulate BLP as a disjunctive program and, from there, disjunctive programming results are applied to derive valid cuts. These cuts tighten the domain of the linear relaxation of BLP. An example is given to illustrate this idea, and a discussion follows on how these cuts may be incorporated in an algorithm for solving BLP.  相似文献

双层规划在经济、交通、生态、工程等领域有着广泛而重要的应用.目前对双层规划的研究主要是基于强双层规划和弱双层规划.然而,针对弱双层规划的求解方法却鲜有研究.研究求解弱线性双层规划问题的一种全局优化方法,首先给出弱线性双层规划问题与其松弛问题在最优解上的关系,然后利用线性规划的对偶理论和罚函数方法,讨论该松弛问题和它的罚问题之间的关系.进一步设计了一种求解弱线性双层规划问题的全局优化方法,该方法的优势在于它仅仅需要求解若干个线性规划问题就可以获得原问题的全局最优解.最后,用一个简单算例说明了所提出的方法是可行的.  相似文献

Typically, practical nonsmooth optimization problems involve functions with hundreds of variables. Moreover, there are many practical problems where the computation of even one subgradient is either a difficult or an impossible task. In such cases derivative-free methods are the better (or only) choice since they do not use explicit computation of subgradients. However, these methods require a large number of function evaluations even for moderately large problems. In this article, we propose an efficient derivative-free limited memory discrete gradient bundle method for nonsmooth, possibly nonconvex optimization. The convergence of the proposed method is proved for locally Lipschitz continuous functions and the numerical experiments to be presented confirm the usability of the method especially for medium size and large-scale problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze some properties of the discrete linear bilevel program for different discretizations of the set of variables. We study the geometry of the feasible set and discuss the existence of an optimal solution. We also establish equivalences between different classes of discrete linear bilevel programs and particular linear multilevel programming problems. Global optimization of mixed-integer bilevel programming problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Two approaches that solve the mixed-integer nonlinear bilevel programming problem to global optimality are introduced. The first addresses problems mixed-integer nonlinear in outer variables and C2-nonlinear in inner variables. The second adresses problems with general mixed-integer nonlinear functions in outer level. Inner level functions may be mixed-integer nonlinear in outer variables, linear, polynomial, or multilinear in inner integer variables, and linear in inner continuous variables. This second approach is based on reformulating the mixed-integer inner problem as continuous via its vertex polyheral convex hull representation and solving the resulting nonlinear bilevel optimization problem by a novel deterministic global optimization framework. The penalty function method, presented many years ago, is an important numerical method for the mathematical programming problems. In this article, we propose a dual-relax penalty function approach, which is significantly different from penalty function approach existing for solving the bilevel programming, to solve the nonlinear bilevel programming with linear lower level problem. Our algorithm will redound to the error analysis for computing an approximate solution to the bilevel programming. The error estimate is obtained among the optimal objective function value of the dual-relax penalty problem and of the original bilevel programming problem. An example is illustrated to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.  相似文献

We propose a method for finding a global solution of a class of nonlinear bilevel programs, in which the objective function in the first level is a DC function, and the second level consists of finding a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker point of a quadratic programming problem. This method is a combination of the local algorithm DCA in DC programming with a branch and bound scheme well known in discrete and global optimization. While significant progress has been made, analytic research on principal-agent problems that seek closed-form solutions faces limitations due to tractability issues that arise because of the mathematical complexity of the problem. The principal must maximize expected utility subject to the agent’s participation and incentive compatibility constraints. Linearity of performance measures is often assumed and the Linear, Exponential, Normal (LEN) model is often used to deal with this complexity. These assumptions may be too restrictive for researchers to explore the variety of relationships between compensation contracts offered by the principal and the effort of the agent. In this paper we show how to numerically solve principal-agent problems with nonlinear contracts. In our procedure, we deal directly with the agent’s incentive compatibility constraint. We illustrate our solution procedure with numerical examples and use optimization methods to make the problem tractable without using the simplifying assumptions of a LEN model. We also show that using linear contracts to approximate nonlinear contracts leads to solutions that are far from the optimal solutions obtained using nonlinear contracts. A principal-agent problem is a special instance of a bilevel nonlinear programming problem. We show how to solve principal-agent problems by solving bilevel programming problems using the ellipsoid algorithm. The approach we present can give researchers new insights into the relationships between nonlinear compensation schemes and employee effort.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a general bilevel programming problem in reflexive Banach spaces with a convex lower level problem. In order to derive necessary optimality conditions for the bilevel problem, it is transferred to a mathematical program with complementarity constraints (MPCC). We introduce a notion of weak stationarity and exploit the concept of strong stationarity for MPCCs in reflexive Banach spaces, recently developed by the second author, and we apply these concepts to the reformulated bilevel programming problem. Constraint qualifications are presented, which ensure that local optimal solutions satisfy the weak and strong stationarity conditions. Finally, we discuss a certain bilevel optimal control problem by means of the developed theory. Its weak and strong stationarity conditions of Pontryagin-type and some controllability assumptions ensuring strong stationarity of any local optimal solution are presented.  相似文献

We present a new algorithm for solving bilevel programming problems without reformulating them as single-level nonlinear programming problems. This strategy allows one to take profit of the structure of the lower level optimization problems without using non-differentiable methods. The algorithm is based on the inexact-restoration technique. Under some assumptions on the problem we prove global convergence to feasible points that satisfy the approximate gradient projection (AGP) optimality condition. Computational experiments are presented that encourage the use of this method for general bilevel problems. The bilevel programming problem involves two optimization problems where the data of the first one is implicitly determined by the solution of the second. In this paper, we introduce two descent methods for a special instance of bilevel programs where the inner problem is strictly convex quadratic. The first algorithm is based on pivot steps and may not guarantee local optimality. A modified steepest descent algorithm is presented to overcome this drawback. New rules for computing exact stepsizes are introduced and a hybrid approach that combines both strategies is discussed. For linear bilevel programming, the branch and bound algorithm is the most successful algorithm to deal with the complementary constraints arising from Kuhn–Tucker conditions. However, one principle challenge is that it could not well handle a linear bilevel programming problem when the constraint functions at the upper-level are of arbitrary linear form. This paper proposes an extended branch and bound algorithm to solve this problem. The results have demonstrated that the extended branch and bound algorithm can solve a wider class of linear bilevel problems can than current capabilities permit.  相似文献

We introduce an algorithm for solving nonlinear optimization problems with general equality and box constraints. The proposed algorithm is based on smoothing of the exact l 1-penalty function and solving the resulting problem by any box-constraint optimization method. We introduce a general algorithm and present theoretical results for updating the penalty and smoothing parameter. We apply the algorithm to optimization problems for nonlinear traffic network models and report on numerical results for a variety of network problems and different solvers for the subproblems.  相似文献
