Recent measurements of spectral line widths for the first five multiplets in the visible of singly-ionized silicon, are compared with the corresponding values predicted by the semi-empirical method of Griem, as well as two other Stark broadening theories. Although there is considerable disagreement between different measurements, as well as with and between the theories involved, agreement to better than 30% on average is obtained between these calculations and the computations of Sahal-Bréchot. Some of the experimental and theoretical questions involved are discussed and suggestions are made for future work on the subject.  相似文献

Stark widths and shifts of some prominent F I spectral lines have been determined experimentally in aZ-pinch plasma in dichlorodifluoromethane on a shot-to-shot basis. The electron density was determined by the laser interferometry while the electron temperature was measured from relative intensities of Cl II lines. Temperatures were in the range 19100–36200 °K; electron densities varied from 0.71 to 1.43×1017cm?3. Measured F I linewidths and shifts are compared with theoretical results computed by Griem and it is shown that a) experimental widths are systematically smaller and the degree of discrepancy increases with temperature, b) line shifts are also smaller than theoretical with exception of multiplets 5 and 6 with the shifts of opposite sign than theoretically predicted, c) experimental shift-to-width ratios decrease with the temperature but less than theoretically expected. Attention is drawn in general, to the systematic discrepancy between experimental results for neutral atom lines and the theory. The magnitude of this disagreement is related to the relative position of the energy levels of spectral line to the ionisation limit.  相似文献

Using a semiclassical approach, the authors consider the widths and shifts of spectral lines for twenty In III and two Tl III multiplets initialed by collisions with electrons, protons, and ions of helium at a density of the perturbing particles of 1017 cm−3 and temperatures from 20,000 to 500,000 K. For two Pb IV multiplets, the widths and shifts of spectral lines produced by collisions with electrons, protons, and ions of He III at a density of the perturbing particles of 1017 cm−3 and temperatures from 50,000 to 1,000,000 K are considered similarly. Experimental results for Stark broadened He I lines emitted by a helium plasma jet (Ne≈3×1016 cm-3) are compared with theory; agreement is well enough for widths whereas shifts calculations present generally large discrepancies with experimental data.  相似文献

The Stark widths of seventeen N(II) and ten N(III) spectral lines, emitted from a wall-stabilized arc plasma with electron densities in the range 0.9-2.9 × 1017 cm-3, were measured. The arc was run with a 1:1N2:He mixture, and the electron densities were determined from the Stark widths of He(I) 5876 and 6678 A. The Stark widths of the N lines were found to scale approximately linearly with electron density.  相似文献

Stark width (W) and shift (d) of the neutral helium (He I) 381.96 nm spectral line in the high lying 2p-6d transition has been measured in the optically thin linear, low-pressure, pulsed arc discharge operated in the helium at 50 000 K electron temperature and 6.1 x 1022 m-3 electron density. These values are the first experimentally obtained W and d related to this line. Unfortunately, comparison with theoretical results is not possible due to the fact that only one existing theoretical calculations has been done at a 1019 m-3 electron density only. Half-widths of fifteen Stark broadened argon II lines have been measured in argon plasma behind the reflected shock wave produced in an electromagnetically driven “T” tube. The plasma electron density was determined by the laser interferometry at three different wavelengths, while the plasma temperature was measured from relative intensities of A II lines. Temperatures were in the range 8,500–16,500 °K; electron densities varied from 1.82 to 3.94 · 1017 cm?3. The measured A II linewidths are compared with theoretical and other experimental results. It is shown that a) the broadening of A II lines is in good agreement with the theory, b) line broadening increases linearly with electron density, and c) the Stark broadened lines follow the dispersion profile to the distance of at least three halfwidths from the line center.  相似文献

Measurements of the Stark widths of doubly and triply ionized sulfur lines were made in a low pressure, pulsed arc plasma of electron density 5.1 × 1016 cm-3 at an electron temperature of 28, 500°K. The experimental S(III) and S(IV) Stark-profile halfwidths were compared with calculated values obtained with Griem's semiempirical and approximate semiclassical approach. Absolute Stark-broadened profiles of the Al resonance lines (3p-4s, γ = 3961.5 and 3944.0 Å) have been measured under conditions of complete LTE in a conventional shock-tube. Plasma electron densities were determined by using a laser-interferometer. Uncertainties in the measurements (15% for the widths and 13% for the shifts) are discussed. The shapes of nine doubly ionized antimony (Sb III) spectral lines have been obtained in the laboratory helium plasma at 17 500 K electron temperature and electron density of . Measured line profiles are of a Voigt type. At the mentioned plasma conditions the Stark broadening has been found as the dominant mechanism in the Sb III line shapes formation. Using a deconvolution procedure the Lorentz (Stark) FWHM (Full-Width at Half of the Maximal intensity, W) have been obtained. Our measured Sb III Stark widths are the first data in the literature. The modified version of the linear, low-pressure, pulsed arc was used as a plasma source operated in helium with antimony atoms, as impurities. They were evaporated from the thin antimony layer, deposited on the silver cylindrical plates, located in the homogenous part of the discharge. This plasma source ensures good conditions for the generation of the doubly ionized antimony atoms in the helium plasma due to atomic processes concerning helium metastables.  相似文献

Stark widths of 11 C(I) lines and 3 N(I) multiplets were measured in the wavelength range 1310 Å ⩽ λ ⩽ 2583 Å. Gas mixtures (Ar+CO2, Ar+N2 and Ar+CO2+N2) were used for production of plasmas in a wall-stabilized arc under atmospheric pressure. Results were provided by five experiments (T varies from 13,370 to 13,950 K and Ne from 1.13 x 1017 cm-3 to 1.35 x 1017 cm-3. Stark shifts were measured for 2 C(I) lines and the ion-broadening parameter A was evaluated for 7 C(I) lines using different methods. The Stark widths and shifts are generally in reasonable agreement with other experimental or theoretical values, while the estimated A values are much higher than those predicted by Griem's theory.  相似文献

Profiles of five calcium II and six strontium II lines have been measured in an argon plasma behind the reflected shock wave. The plasma was produced in an electromagnetically drivenT tube and calcium and strontium were present as an impurities. Electron densities were in the range 1.91–3.40·1017 cm?3 and the electron temperatures between 10300 and 14200 °K. The half halfwidths of the measured profiles of some Ca II and Sr II multiplets show large discrepancies with theoretical predictions.  相似文献
