An unorthodox cosmology is based on a notion of standpoint, distinguishing past from future, realized through Hilbert-space representation of the complex conformai group for 3+1spacetime and associated coherent states. Physical (approximate) symmetry attaches to eight-parameter complex Poincaré displacements, interpretable as growth of standpoint age (one parameter), boost of matter energy-momentum in standpoint rest frame (three parameters) and displacement of matter location in a compact U(1)O(4)/O(3) spacetime attached to standpoint (four parameters). An initial condition (at big bang) is characterized by a huge dimensionless parameter that breaks dilation invariance. Four major length scales are recognized, called Planck, particle, lab, and Hubble, with separations controlled by ; all physical concepts, including spacetime, depend on wideness of scale separation.  相似文献

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

We present and discuss the derivation of a nonlinear nonlocal integrodifferential equation for the macroscopic time evolution of the conserved order parameter (r, t) of a binary alloy undergoing phase segregation. Our model is ad-dimensional lattice gas evolving via Kawasaki exchange with respect to the Gibbs measure for a Hamiltonian which includes both short-range (local) and long-range (nonlocal) interactions. The nonlocal part is given by a pair potential dJ(|x–y|), >0 x and y in d, in the limit 0. The macroscopic evolution is observed on the spatial scale –1 and time scale –2, i.e., the density (r, t) is the empirical average of the occupation numbers over a small macroscopic volume element centered atr=x. A rigorous derivation is presented in the case in which there is no local interaction. In a subsequent paper (Part II) we discuss the phase segregation phenomena in the model. In particular we argue that the phase boundary evolutions, arising as sharp interface limits of the family of equations derived in this paper, are the same as the ones obtained from the corresponding limits for the Cahn-Hilliard equation.  相似文献

The existence of long-range order is proved under certain conditions for the antiferromagnetic quantum spin system with anisotropic interactions (XXZ model) on the simple cubic or the square lattice. In three dimensions (the simple cubic lattice), finite long-range order exists at sufficiently low temperatures for any anisotropy(0) ifS1, and for 0<0.29 (XY-like) or>1.19 (Ising-like) ifS=1/2. In two dimensions (the square lattice), ground-state long-range order exists under the following conditions: for any anisotropy (0) ifS3/2; 0<0.032 (XY-like) or 0.67<<1.34 (almost isotropic) or>1.80 (Ising-like) ifS=1;>1.93 (Ising-like) ifS=1/2. We conjecture that the two-dimensional spin-1/2XY model (=0) has finite ground-state long-range order. Numerical evidence supporting this conjecture is given.  相似文献

For the Ising model with nearest neighbour interaction it is shown that the spin correlations A B - A B decrease exponentially asd(A, B) in a pure phase when the temperature is well belowT c. This is used to prove that the free energyF(,h) is infinitely differentiable in and has one sided derivatives inh of all orders forh=0. The bounds are also used to prove that the central limit theorem holds for several variables such as e.g. the total energy and the total magnetization of the system, the limit distribution being gaussian with variances determined by the second derivatives ofF(,h).  相似文献

The current and logarithm-of-the-current distributionsn(i) andn(ln i) on bond diluted two-dimensional random-resistor networks at the percolation threshold are studied by a modified transfer matrix method. Thek th moment (–9k8) of n(ln i) i.e., ln i&k, is found to scale with the linear sizeL as (InL)(k). The exponents (k) are not inconsistent with the recent theoretical prediction (k)=k, with deviations which may be attributed to severe finitesize effects. For small currents, ln n(y), yielding information on the threshold below which the multifractality of (i) breaks down. Our numerical results for the moments of the currents are consistent with other available results.  相似文献

Divergence of high moments and dimension of the carrier is the subtitle of Mandelbrot's 1974 seed paper on random multifractals. The key words divergence and dimension met very different fates. Dimension expanded into a multifractal formalism based on an exponent and a function f(). An excellent exposition in Halsey et al. 1986 helped this formalism flourish. But it does not allow divergent high moments and the related inequalities f()<0 and <0. As a result, those possibilities did not flourish. Now their time has come for diverse reasons. The broad 1974 definitions of and f allow <0 and f()<0, but the original presentation demanded to be both developed and simplified. This paper shows that both multifractal anomalies occur in a very simple example, which has been crafted for this purpose. This example predicts the power law distribution. It generalizes and f() beyond their usual roles of being a Hölder exponent and a Hausdorff dimension. The effect is to allow either f or both f and to be negative, and the apparent anomalies are made into sources of new important information. In addition, this paper substantially clarifies the subtle way in which randomness manifests itself in multifractals.  相似文献

We investigate in detail the dependence of the velocity autocorrelation function of a one-dimensional system of hard, point particles with a simple velocity distribution function (all particles have velocities ±c) on the size of the system. In the thermodynamic limit, when both the number of particlesN and the length of the boxL approach infinity andN/L , the velocity autocorrelation function(t) is given simply by c2 exp(–2ct@#@). For a finite system, the function N(t) is periodic with period 2L/c. We also show that for more general velocity distribution functions (particles can have velocities ±ci,i = 1,...), N(t) is an almost periodic function oft. These examples illustrate the role of the thermodynamic limit in nonequilibrium phenomena: We must keept fixed while letting the size of the system become infinite to obtain an auto-correlation function, such as(t), which decays for all times and can be integrated to obtain transport coefficients. For 2D percolation we slightly improve a result of Chayes and Chayes to the effect that the critical exponent for the percolation probability isstrictly less than 1. The generalized formulation for dielectric dispersion is extended for dielectrics exhibiting strongly overlapping arcs in the- complex plane. Subsequently, a novel network representation is developed whereby Negative Impedance Converters (NICs) are employed along with passive R-C elements. Satisfactory agreement is obtained in comparing the experimental results with those calculated using the new formulation.  相似文献

In the present paper a three-body potential model (TBPM) has been employed for the analysis of dielectric behaviour of NaCl-NaBr and and KCl-KBr mixed crystals with varying compositions. The physical properties like dielectric constants ( 0 and ), optic mode frequencies ( OLO and TO), effective charge parameter (e s * ), optic mode Grüneisen parameters and strain derivatives of 0 and dielectric constants have been calculated. The results achieved in the present study are found in fairly good agreement with the available experimental data.
