We report what is believed to be the first demonstration of a high-power passively mode-locked diode-pumped femtosecond laser based on an Yb3+:CaF2 single crystal, directly pumped by a 15-W fiber-coupled laser diode. With a 5-at. % Yb3+ -doped sample and prisms for dispersion compensation we obtained pulses as short as 150 fs, with 880 mW of average power and up to 1.4-W average output power, with a pulse duration of 220 fs, centered at 1049 nm. The laser wavelength could be tuned from 1040 to 1053 nm in the femtosecond regime. Using chirped mirrors for dispersion compensation, the oscillator provided up to 1.74 W of average power, with a pulse duration of 230 fs, corresponding to a pulse energy of 20 nJ and a peak power of 85 kW.  相似文献

A wavelength-tunable,efficient,and high-average power single diode-pumped continuons wave(CW) Yb:SSO laser is reported.A maximum output power of 8.8 W at 1 062.6 nm is obtained using the absorbed pump power of 11.7 W,which corresponds to a slope efficiency of 85.5% and an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 48.9%.The wavelength tuning of the Yb:SSO laser pumped by the 976-nm LD is also investigated.The results show the tuning range from 1 002.30 to 1 068.47 nm,which corresponds to a tunability range of 66.17 nm.  相似文献

A high-power diode-pumped passively mode-locked Yb:YAG ceramic laser was demonstrated. An average output power of 3.80W with a pulse duration of 433 fs at a repetition rate of 90.9MHz was obtained at a wavelength of 1050 nm using a 2% output coupler. A peak power of 96.5kW was also obtained. To the best of our knowledge, these are the highest reported average power and peak power for a diode-pumped mode-locked Yb:YAG ceramic laser.  相似文献

The experimental demonstration of a diode-pumped passively mode-locked femtosecond laser based on an Yb3+:CaGdAlO4 single crystal is reported. The oscillator is directly diode pumped by a high-brightness 5 W fiber coupled laser diode, and pulses are produced by use of a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror. It permits the production of pulses as short as 47 fs at 1050 nm, which are to our knowledge the shortest laser pulses obtained from an oscillator based on Yb3+-doped bulk materials. The average power is 38 mW, and the repetition rate is 109 MHz.  相似文献

We present a high-power diode-pumped Yb:CaF(2) laser operating at cryogenic temperature (77 K). A laser output power of 97 W at 1034 nm was extracted for a pump power of 245 W. The corresponding global extraction efficiency (versus absorbed pump power) is 65%. The laser small signal gain was found to be equal to 3.1. The laser wavelength could be tuned between 990 and 1052 nm with peaks that correspond well to the structure of the gain cross-section spectra registered at low temperature.  相似文献

We demonstrate that Yb-doped Ca4GdO(BO3)3 (GdCOB) crystals are suitable for the development of high-power diode-pumped lasers emitting at around 1.04 μm. A 15%-doped Yb:GdCOB crystal was longitudinally pumped with a cw fiber-coupled diode emitting 10 W at 976 nm. While 5.2 W of diode power was absorbed, we obtained 3.2 W of 1043-μm laser light, with a beam quality factor M2 equal to 3, and 2.5 W in a diffraction-limited beam. Furthermore, the laser is continuously tunable between 1018 and 1086 nm. Thermal effects have been investigated with a Shack–Hartmann wavefront analyser: although thermal lensing is not negligible, it does not affect the performance of the laser with the resonator design we used. A high-power Er,Yb double-clad ribbon fiber laser pumped by a 9-diode-bar pump module is reported. The laser yielded 102 W of continuous-wave output at 1566 nm for a launched pump power of 244 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of ~ 44% with respect to launched pump power. Tunable operation was achieved using a simple external feedback cavity with a diffraction grating and the operating wavelength could be tuned from 1533 nm to 1567 nm. Temperature distribution in the ribbon fiber geometry and prospects of power scaling will be discussed.  相似文献

We report the mode-locked operation of two new Yb-doped oxyorthosilicates, Y2SiO5 (YSO) and Lu2SiO5 (LSO), that are longitudinally diode pumped. Yb:YSO supplied pulses as short as 122 fs with 410 mW of output power at 1041 nm. More than 2.6 W of average output power, for pulse durations of 198 fs at 1044 nm and 260 fs at 1059 nm for Yb:YSO and Yb:LSO, respectively, were provided. These are, to our best knowledge, the highest values ever obtained and the most efficient mode-locked laser in such a classic fiber-coupled diode-pumping configuration.  相似文献

We obtained 74-kW peak power and 3.5-W average output power in 1-ps pulses from a diode-pumped Yb:YAG laser at 1030 nm that was passively mode locked with a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror. Another laser produced 57-kW peak power and as much as 8.1-W average output power in 2.2-ps pulses, split into two nearly diffraction-limited beams (M(2)<1.2) . To our knowledge, these are by far the highest reported peak and average output powers from a diode-pumped mode-locked laser in this pulse-duration regime.  相似文献

A high-power, continuous-wave 3.5% Tm3+ doped LiYF4 (Tm:YLF) laser has been developed. Using two Tm:YLF rods in a single cavity, 55 W of laser output at 1910 nm was obtained with a slope efficiency of 49%. The M2 factor was found to be <3. With a single Tm:YLF rod, a maximum laser power of 30 W was obtained with a slope efficiency of 50%. The cw and femtosecond laser operations of Yb(3+):CaYAlO(4) (Yb:CYA) are demonstrated. The laser emitted a maximum cw power of 1.94 W with a slope efficiency (η(slope)) of 71% and an optical-to-optical efficiency (η(opt)) of 51%. Under mode-locking operation, the laser emitted near transform-limited pulses with 156 fs pulse width, 8.1 nJ pulse energy and 0.74 W average power. The η(slope) and η(opt) of the mode-locked laser were 37% and 20%, respectively.  相似文献

A cw Pr(3+):LiYF(4) laser at 639 nm pumped by a high-power GaN laser diode (444 nm) is demonstrated. The highest laser power of 112 mW is achieved with an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 33.5%. Characteristics of this laser at elevated temperatures are also investigated for practical applications such as a laser projector.  相似文献

The growth, spectroscopic properties, and laser performance of Yb:YVO4 crystal with laser diode pumping are reported. A peak absorption cross section of 7.4 x 10(-20) cm2 at 985 nm, a radiative lifetime of 0.25 ms, and a stimulated-emission cross section of 1.25 x 10(-20) cm2 at 1008 nm for pi polarization were determined for the Yb3+ ions in YVO4. Continuous-wave laser action of Yb:YVO4 at 1020-1027 nm was demonstrated with an output power of 610 mW and a slope efficiency of 49%.  相似文献

A diode-pumped Yb:YVO4 laser has been passively mode locked for the first time, to our knowledge. 120 fs pulses with an average output power of 300 mW and a peak power as high as 14.5 kW are obtained by use of a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror for passive mode locking. We describe a widely tunable, continuous-wave, room temperature Cr4+:YAG laser with direct pumping by two high brightness 4 W InGaAs laser diodes. In a tunable configuration, the output wavelength covered a span of 197 nm (1356–1553 nm) and provided a maximum power of 195 mW. A maximum non-tunable output power of 260 mW was obtained with a 0.6% transmission output coupler (OC) and 6.6 W of incident pump power. Growth, spectroscopic properties, and laser performance of Yb, Na:PbF(2) crystals have been investigated. With a 2 mol.% Yb(3+)-doped sample we obtained 2.65 W output power at 1045 nm for 7.5 W of incident power at 976 nm. The laser wavelength could be tuned from 1017 to 1078 nm, showing the great potential of Yb, Na:PbF(2) as an amplifier medium for femtosecond pulses.  相似文献

A bulk crystal of Yb:Sc2SiO5 (Yb:SSO) with favorable thermal properties was successfully obtained by the Czochralski method. The energy level diagrams for Yb:SSO crystal were determined by optical spectroscopic analysis and semi-empirical crystal-field calculations using the simple overlap model. The full width at half maximum of the absorption band centering at 976 nm was calculated to be 24 nm with a peak absorption cross-section of 9.2×10-21 cm2. The largest ground-state splitting of Yb3+ ions is up to 1027 cm-1 in a SSO crystal host. Efficient diode-pumped laser performance of Yb:SSO was primarily demonstrated with a slope efficiency of 45% and output power of 3.55 W.  相似文献

A 2% Tm3+-doped LiYF4(Tm:YLF) slab is double-end-pumped by two laser diode stacks. The pumped volume has a rectangular cross section. The Tm:YLF laser produced 148 W of continuos-wave output at 1912 nm in a beam with M x 2≈199 and M y 2≈1.7 for 554 W of incident pump power. The slope efficiency with respect to the incident pump power was 32.6%, and the optical-to-optical efficiency was 26.7%.  相似文献

Continuous wave (CW) and Q-switched diode-pumped laser operation of Yb3+:NaLa(MoO4)2 single crystal was to our knowledge, demonstrated for the first time. A CW output power of 220 mW and slope efficiency of 46% were obtained. Efficient and tunable diode-pumped femtosecond Yb:glass lasers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Diode-pumped Yb:phosphate and Yb:silicate glass lasers have been passively mode locked for the first time to the authors' knowledge. Reliable self-starting mode locking without critical cavity alignment has been achieved with intracavity semiconductor saturable-absorber mirrors and soliton mode locking. We generated pulses as short as 58 fs with the Yb:phosphate laser and 61 fs with the Yb:silicate laser at average output powers of 65 and 53 mW, respectively. The pulse repetition rate was 112 MHz. Additionally, we demonstrated tunability of femtosecond pulses from 1025 to 1065 nm for the Yb:phosphate and from 1030 to 1082 nm for the Yb:silicate glasses. The highest mode-locked output power was 405 mW, with 183-fs pulses from the phosphate glass. The diode pump power was 1.68 W, corresponding to 24% optical-to-optical efficiency. The highest cw output power was 510 mW at the same incident pump power.  相似文献
