Summary The plantLagochilus pubescens Vved. has yielded seven new diterpenoids, which have been characterized.An investigation of chemical reactions and IR, mass, and PMR spectra has shows that they belong to the 9,13-epoxylabdane series and are acetylated derivatives of lagochilin.On the basis of the results of a comparative study of PMR spectra of the diterpenoids isolated and of lagochilin the positions of attachment of the acetyl groups in these compounds have been determined.V. Acetylation of lagochilin

The acetylation of lagochilin and its derivatives with acetic anhydride in the presence of pyridine has been studied by PMR spectroscopy. It has been shown that the manifestation of the polyfunctionality of lagochilin in acetylation reactions with acetic anhydride is connected with a change in the nature of the process of solvation of the reaction forms with the subsequent replacement of the hydrogen atoms of the hydroxy groups by acetyl groups.V. Production of new lagochilin derivatives

The tetrahydric alcohol Lgochilin belongs to the 9,13-epoxylabdane series of diterpenoids. It is produced by many species of plants of the Lagochilus genus and can be used as the starting material for the synthesis of new compounds with a broad spectrum of physiological action [1, 2]. Many lagochilin derivatives possess hemostatic (3, 4) and antiviral properties. Structure and configuration of a new diterpenoid lactone fromLagochilus hirsutissimus

The epigeal part of the plantLagochilus hirsutissimus has yielded a new diterpenoid lactone — lagohirsidin, C₂₂H₃₄O₅, mp 144–145°C, [] _D ²² – 17.5° (c 1; ethanol). Reduction with LiAlH₄ has yielded a diol C₂₂H₃₈O₅, mp 165–166°C [] _D ²⁰ –1.2 (c 0.6; ethanol). Acid hydrolysis of the diol has led to the formation of lagochilin, C₂₀H₃₆O₅, mp 167–168°C, [] _D ²⁰ –3.9° (c 1; ethanol). The synthesis of lagohirsidin from lagochilin has been effected.V. I.
