In this paper we deal with the exterior problem for a system of nonlinear wave equations in two space dimensions, assuming that the initial data is small and smooth. We establish the same type of lower bound of the lifespan for the problem as that for the Cauchy problem, despite of the weak decay property of the solution in two space dimensions.  相似文献

Presented here is a study of a viscoelastic wave equation with supercritical source and damping terms. We employ the theory of monotone operators and nonlinear semigroups, combined with energy methods to establish the existence of a unique local weak solution. In addition, it is shown that the solution depends continuously on the initial data and is global provided the damping dominates the source in an appropriate sense.  相似文献

We consider the initial (boundary) value problem for the Kirchhoff equations in exterior domains or in the whole space of dimension three, and show that these problems admit time-global solutions, provided the norms of the initial data in the usual Sobolev spaces of appropriate order are sufficiently small. We obtain uniform estimates of the L1(R) norms with respect to time variable at each point in the domain, of solutions of initial (boundary) value problem for the linear wave equations. We then show that the estimates above yield the unique global solvability for the Kirchhoff equations.  相似文献

This article investigates optimal decay rates for solutions to a semilinear hyperbolic equation with localized interior damping and a source term. Both dissipation and the source are fully nonlinear   and the growth rate of the source map may include critical exponents (for Sobolev’s embedding H1→L2H1L2). Besides continuity and monotonicity, no growth or regularity assumptions are imposed on the damping. We analyze the system in the presence of Neumann-type boundary conditions including the mixed cases: Dirichlet–Neumann–Robin.  相似文献

We consider a hyperbolic-parabolic singular perturbation problem for a quasilinear equation of Kirchhoff type, and obtain parameter-dependent time decay estimates of the difference between the solutions of a quasilinear dissipative hyperbolic equation of Kirchhoff type and the corresponding quasilinear parabolic equation. For this purpose we show time decay estimates for hyperbolic-parabolic singular perturbation problem for linear equations with a time-dependent coefficient.  相似文献

By constructing the corresponding Green's function in a trapezoidal domain, we establish the existence of self-adjoint realizations of incorporating boundary conditions of the formu(s, 0)=u(s, T)=0. We consider an abstract Cauchy problem for a system of nonhomogeneous abstract differential equations in Hilbert spaces. The “main” equation is of the second order and “boundary” equations are of the first order. Existence of a solution is proved. Application to mixed (initial boundary-value) problems for one-dimensional second order hyperbolic equations and for fourth order PDEs with the time derivative in boundary conditions has been shown. We consider the wave equation with supercritical interior and boundary sources and damping terms. The main result of the paper is local Hadamard well-posedness of finite energy (weak) solutions. The results obtained: (1) extend the existence results previously obtained in the literature (by allowing more singular sources); (2) show that the corresponding solutions satisfy Hadamard well-posedness conditions during the time of existence. This result provides a positive answer to an open question in the area and it allows for the construction of a strongly continuous semigroup representing the dynamics governed by the wave equation with supercritical sources and damping.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a quasilinear hyperbolic equation with strong damping. Firstly, by use of the successive approximation method and a series of classical estimates, we prove the local existence and uniqueness of a weak solution. We study the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for undiscounted exit time control problems with general nonnegative Lagrangians using the dynamic programming approach. We prove theorems characterizing the value function as the unique bounded-from-below viscosity solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation that is null on the target. The result applies to problems with the property that all trajectories satisfying a certain integral condition must stay in a bounded set. We allow problems for which the Lagrangian is not uniformly bounded below by positive constants, in which the hypotheses of the known uniqueness results for Hamilton-Jacobi equations are not satisfied. We apply our theorems to eikonal equations from geometric optics, shape-from-shading equations from image processing, and variants of the Fuller Problem.  相似文献
