The inclusive cross-section for the production of a single hadron in deep inelastic electroproduction is studied in a dual resonance model. The Bjorken scaling behaviour in the virtual photon fragmentation region for finite x (≡ 2pLc.m./√s) is (1/σT,L))d3σT,L/E?d3p ~ (1/q2) F(x,p2/q2) and thus the transverse momentum grows like q2, whereas in the parton model (1/σT,L)d3σT,L/E?1d3pF(x,p2). A related effect is the absence of two-jet structure in e+e? annihilation. We believe that dual model results may give a more reliable indication of the deep inelastic behaviour for composite hadrons than the parton model.  相似文献

The far-infrared spectrum of tetrahydrothiophene is reinvestigated with a resolution of 0.12 cm?1 in the region of 50–350 cm?1. In addition to the bend transitions (νb) below 120 cm?1 reported previously, a number of sequences revealed by the improved resolution are observed for the first time and assigned to transitions of 2νb, of the twist (νt), and of difference combinations (νt - νb). Simple one-dimensional modeling of the twist sequence, which is derived from a self-consistent bend-twist energy level diagram, with a quadratic-quartic Hamiltonian suggests a barrier to planarity on the order of 4250 cm?1. A two-dimensional potential function in the dimensionless coordinates is found to be V(qb, qt) = ?249.6qb2 + 4.48qb4 ? 215.5qt2 + 2.73qt4 + 7.00qb2qt2.  相似文献

The inclusive reactions h+p→φ+X, (h=π±,,K±,p±), are studied for 0?xF?0.3 and p⊥ ? 1 GeV at 93 and and 63 GeV incident momentum. Differential cross sections dσ/dp2 and/dxF are presented and are compared with predictions of the naive parton model.  相似文献

Electron-proton deep inelastic scattering is treated as the incoherent scattering of electrons by bound Dirac partons in the proton rest frame. An approximate bound state wave function is used for the initial parton, while the final parton is considered free. A good fit is obtained to the structure function F1(x,Q2) in the range x > 0.15, Q2 > 2 GeV. The subsequent prediction for F2(x,Q2) is not as good, indicating a small additional contribution by longitudinal photons for W < 2.5 GeV. The parton momentum distribution is found to contain transverse momentum of 400–600 MeV, increasing with x.  相似文献

A parton model for the virtual photon process γ → X is examined. It is assumed that a scaling property applies and the total cross section is σγγ→X = s?1φ(ξ), where the function ? is dependent on the scaling variable ξ defined by ξ = s/(q21q22). We analyze the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the half-line using the Fokas method. Assuming that the solution q(x,t) exists, we show that it can be represented in terms of the solution of a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem formulated in the plane of the complex spectral parameter ζ. The jump matrix has explicit x,t dependence and is given in terms of the spectral functions a(ζ), b(ζ) (obtained from the initial data q0(x)=q(x,0)) as well as A(ζ), B(ζ) (obtained from the boundary values g0(t)=q(0,t) and g1(t)=qx(0,t)). The spectral functions are not independent, but related by a compatibility condition, the so-called global relation. Given initial and boundary values {q0(x),g0(t),g1(t)} such that there exist spectral functions satisfying the global relation, we show that the function q(x,t) defined by the above Riemann-Hilbert problem exists globally and solves the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the prescribed initial and boundary values.  相似文献

Consider an instantaneous severing interaction which at t = ts transforms is given N-soliton solution q0 into two new solutions, qL and qR, with discontinuous anitial conditions at t = ts such that qL(qR) is equal to q0 to the left (right) of the severing point xs and vanishes to the right (left) of xs. The soliton content of qL and qR is studied in the context of the cubic Schrödinger equation and the sine-Gordon equation by solving the direct scattering problem. It is shown that the motion constants Cn, n = 1, 2 …, are related by Cn0 = CnL ? CnR1, Furthermore, if q0 contains N solitons and no contribution from the continuous spectrum, then qL(qR) contains NL(NR) solitons with 0 ? NL, NR ? N and NL + NR = N. The slicing puts a soliton into qL or qR, respectively as the slicing point xs is taken to the right or left of the soliton's “center” at t = ts.  相似文献

The complex perovskite solid solution (1−x) Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3-(x) Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 has been successfully prepared by the Columbite precursor method. The temperature dependencies of the dielectric constant and pyroelectric coefficient were measured between −261 and 200 °C. Relaxor ferroelectric behavior has been noticed in all compositions across the solid solution. The room-temperature electrostrictive coefficient, Q33, was 1.83×10−2 C2/m4 for x=0.10. No room-temperature piezoelectric activity was detected; however, upon cooling to −261 °C the maximum coupling coefficients kp=29%, kt=11%, and k33=31% were observed for the composition x=1.00.  相似文献

A realistic phenomenological model combining parton/QCD ideas with lower energy SU(6) constraints is proposed for the shape and evolution of the leading spin-dependent structure function Gep(x, Q2) in polarized electroproduction. Close's broken-SU(6) ansatz is used to relate appropriately defined polarized quark-parton distribution densities to unpolarized ones at the matching momentum scale Q2 = Q02. The differences between spin and helicity distribution densities as well as the complications due to perturbative QCD and parton kT (with related target-mass) effects are taken into account. Evolution to higher (>10 GeV2) values of Q2 (where target-mass effects can be neglected) yields experimentally testable numerical predictions that are presented through various plots. The value of Q0 is self-consistently determined to be about 0.5 GeV.  相似文献

The contribution of QCD jets to the rise with energy of the inelastic cross section is discussed quantitatively and found to be large. It is seen that the inclusive jet yield is the fastest growing component of the total cross section. The dependence of this yield upon the rapidity cuts, the choice of parton densities, the QCD scale Q2 and the transverse momentum cutoff pcut are examined. At higher energies, multiple parton scattering processes are seen to be non-negligible. Extrapolations of the low-pt jet yield to the Tevatron are presented also.  相似文献

An experiment has been performed to study the inclusive photoproduction of π0 mesons. Photoproduced π0's were detected in a hodoscope consisting of 14 lead glass Cerenkov counters. To obtain the cross sections at a photon energy of 6 GeV we used the photon-difference method. Data are presented in terms of the Feynman variable x = q61(√s/2) and the trnasverse momentum q⊥. We have measured four q⊥ distributions at x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8. The results dhow that the π0 rate at small values of q⊥ is smaller than the π± rate. The data can be fitted smoothly by a form A exp (?Bq2) with a value about 3.5 GeV?2 for the slope parameter B.  相似文献

It is shown that, within the parton picture, weak (P-odd) effects increase with energy and momentum transfer. The presence of an effctive current with ΔS = 0 and 1 due to constituent interchange or annihilation is expected in the parton picture of hadron-hadron weak interactions. A typical value of P-odd effects, nucleon or hyperon polarization or asymmetry in quasi two-body reactions is about 10?4 at Elab ~ 103 GeV and 10?3 in large angle (ts) scattering in the conventional current × current scheme of weak interactions. A principal possibility to clear up quark statistics is pointed out.  相似文献

Invariant single-particle cross sections for pion and proton production in π±p interactions at 8 and 16 GeV/c are presented in terms of integrated distributions as functions of x, reduced rapidity ζ and p2, and also in terms of double differential cross sections E d2σ/(dx dp2) and dζ dp2). A comparison of π± and π? induced reactions is made and the energy dependence is discussed. It is shown that the single-particle structure function cannot be factorized in its dependece on transverse and longitudinal momentum. For the beam-unlike pion, there is an indication for factorizability in terms of rapidity and transverse momentum in a small central region.  相似文献

We advance the notion of a dynamical, scale-dependent Hausdorff dimension for hadronic matter. The physical motivations behind such a concept are explained. For very small scales, we relate this dimension to the anomalous dimension of the product of two momentum densities. For hadrons, we rely on the precocious onset of Bjorken scaling in e-p inelastic scattering and a heuristic parton model to obtain the Hausdorff dimensional profile for the proton d(q2) as a function of the probing photon momentum q2. We find that d reaches a maximum around d = 1 for a range of low q2 values. This feature is indicative of a string-like structure of the hadrons at low momentum transfers.  相似文献

The covariant parton model is used to investigate the approach to scalling in deep inelastic lepton scattering and in lepton pair production by hadron beams. The subasymptotic effects in these two reactions are controlled by rather different features. Of particular importance for lepton pair production is how far the partons are off shell before they annihilate, while for deep inelastic scattering what matters is rather the mass of the parton after it has absorbed the virtual photon. There are uncertainties because of problems with gauge invariance, but it seems that subasymptotic effects in lepton pair production may be large even at SPS/Fermilab energies.Transverse momentum and x distributions of partons in hadrons are discussed in a very simple model. In particular it is found that, while the model is constructed such that F2(x) ~ (1 ? x)3 as x → 1, for values of x up to 0.85 F2(x) is better approximated by (1 ? x)4.  相似文献

Differential cross sections for π?p and pp elastic scattering have been measured at incident momenta ranging from 30 to 345 GeV and in the t range 0.002 (GeV/c)2 ? |t| ? 0.04 (GeV/c)2. From the analysis of the data, the ratio ? (t = 0) of the real to the imaginary parts of the forward scattering amplitude was determined together with the logarithmic slope b of the diffraction cone.The results on the real parts confirm the validity of the forward dispersion relations at high energies. Using the dispersion relations, it was shown that the experimental data on ?π?p(t = 0) require a continuous rise of the total πp cross sections, at least up to the energy of 2000 GeV, thus revealing a close similarity in high-energy behaviour of πp and pp interactions.The results on the slope parameters from this experiment together with the analysis of the available world data demonstrate that the existing experimental data are consistent with the hypothesis of a universal shrinkage of the hadronic diffraction cone at high energies. The value of the asymptotic shrinkage parameter αp was found to be independent of the kind of the incident hadron and of the momentum transfer in the t range |t| ? 0.2 (GeV/c)2 : 2αp = ± 3 (GeV/c)?2.  相似文献

The “anomalous” quasi-isotropic [g] tensor observed in systems containing the elongated AgBr4−6 unit (g = 2.078 ± 0.003; g⊥ = 2.065 ± 0.003) is reasonably explained, within a rigorous Molecular Orbital framework, in terms of a very high covalency, consistent with the optical electronegativity of Ag2+ and previous results on other Cu2+ and Ag2+ complexes. For the antibonding level 3b1g(x2 − y2) about 90% of the electronic charges should be on bromine ions. The present analysis reveals that g − g0 is dominated by charge-transfer excitations while g− g0 is dominated by crystal-field excitations.  相似文献

We consider transport properties of the system in which the good-conducting bonds lie in parallel planes linked by poor-conducting bonds and the concentration p of good-conducting bonds is close to the two-dimensional percolation threshold pc. The diffusion coefficient D(τ) which describes the random walking in directions along the planes is calculated as a function of variable τ = ppc. For τ → 0 the asymptotic relation D(τ)/D(0) − 1 | ∼ |τ|α is found w α = 2νs. Here s is the superconductivity exponent and ν is the correlation length exponent. It is argued that such behavior is to be expected also for more general models.  相似文献
