To improve the dispersion of multi‐walled walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and investigate the effect of dispersant for MWCNTs functionalization on the dielectric, mechanical, and thermal properties of Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composites, two different dispersants (Chitosan and TritonX‐100) with different dispersion capability and dielectric properties were used to noncovalently functionalize MWCNTs and prepare PVDF composites via solution blending. Fourier transform infrared, X‐Ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy indicated that TritonX‐100 and Chitosan were noncovalent functionalized successfully on the surface of MWCNTs. With the functionalization of Chitosan and TritonX‐100, the dispersion of MWCNTs changed in different extent, which was investigated by dynamic light scattering and confocal laser scan microscopy. The dielectric, mechanical, and thermal properties of PVDF composites were also improved. Meanwhile, it was also found that the dielectric properties of PVDF composites are closely related to the dielectric properties of dispersant. High dielectric constant of dispersant contributes to the grant dielectric constant of PVDF composites. The mechanical and thermal properties of MWCNTs/PVDF composites largely depend on the dispersion of MWCNTs in PVDF, interfacial interactions and the residual solvent. Conducting polymer composites should have a high dielectric constant and a high dissipation factor in the low and high frequency regions if they are to be used in charge storing devices, decoupling capacitors and electromagnetic interference shielding applications. Currently, extensive research is being carried out to enhance the dielectric constants of graphite-polymer, ceramic powder-polymer, metal powder-polymer and nanotube-polymer composites in the low frequency region. In this paper, we present the dielectric properties of styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN)-graphite sheets (GS) composites in the low and high frequency ranges. SAN-GS composites were prepared by the mixing process and by the hot compression mold technique. The composites showed a high dielectric constant and a high dissipation factor in the low and radio frequency region. Furthermore, the EMI shielding properties of these composites are evaluated in the radio frequency range. The conductivity and the dielectric constant of the SAN/GS composites increased with the addition of GS composites, and followed the power law model of percolation theory. The dielectric constant and the dissipation factor of the composites were analyzed according to the low and high frequency region.  相似文献

The dielectric and magnetic properties of carbonyl—iron (CI) and nickel zinc ferrite polymer composites were studied with respect to the ferrite particulate content and microwave frequency. From the experimental data and using empirical models that relate the composite dielectric and magnetic properties, the respective dielectric and magnetic properties of the neat fillers were estimated. The tensile properties of the particulate composites comprising CI were shown to follow qualitatively Mooney's equation for the elastic modulus. The tensile strength of an elastomeric polyurethane and PVC composites containing CI increased with particulate content, while the elongation to break decreased with filler content. SEM micrographs of tensile fracture surfaces indicated that somewhat better adhesion is obtained in the case of the polyurethane-based composites compared to the PVC ones.  相似文献

Structure-properties relationships of composite materials, consisting of a polymer matrix and metal inclusions, is very important for designing new materials with desirable properties. In the present work the electrical and dielectric properties of several composites, consisting of a polymer matrix and iron (Fe) particles as filler, were investigated. Broadband dielectric relaxation spectroscopy measurements were carried out. The electrical behaviour of the composites is described in terms of the percolation theory. Percolation threshold values were calculated and the values of the dielectric permittivity critical exponent were found in good agreement with the theoretical ones. The influence of using different polymer matrices on the physical properties of the composites was also of particular interest. The results were related to the microstructure of the composites and a schematic model was proposed.  相似文献

Novel high performance bisphenol A dicyanate ester (BADCy) resins/poly(urea-formaldehyde) microcapsules filled with epoxy resins (MCEs) composites have been prepared. The effects of different contents of MCEs on the thermal and dielectric properties of cured BADCy were investigated using dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA), thermalgravimetric analyzer (TGA) and broadband dielectric analyzer. The dielectric properties of BADCy/MCEs treated in hot water and hot air were also discussed. The morphologies of BADCy/MCEs composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results indicate that the appropriate content of MCEs can improve or maintain the thermal stability, the low dielectric constant and dielectric loss of cured BADCy mainly owing to higher conversion of cyanate ester (-OCN) groups. After aged in hot water and hot air, respectively, BADCy/MCEs composites with small content of MCEs can retain the low dielectric constant and dielectric loss.  相似文献

Thermodynamical, optical, dielectric and electro-optical characterisation of nematic liquid crystals (LCs) and silver nanoparticle (NP) composites have been carried out. Transition temperatures of pure and composites systems have been measured. Thermodynamical studies suggest increase of clearing temperature of the composite material as compared to the pure material. Threshold voltage for switching from bright to dark state and splay elastic constant of the pure and composite materials have been determined. From frequency dependence of dielectric measurements, permittivity, loss, relaxation frequency and dielectric strength of flip-flop mechanism of LC molecules in the nematic phase have been calculated. Dielectric properties of composites have been explained in reference of Maier and Meier theory. The effects of doping of NPs on dielectric and electro-optic properties of LC-NP composites have been discussed.  相似文献

The properties of epoxide composites modified by thermal reduced graphite oxide are studied. The dielectric permittivities of epoxide composites with additives of up to 1.5 wt % of reduced graphite oxide are studied at a frequency of 9.8 GHz. It is shown that despite its low electrical conductivity, the large specific surface area of reduced graphite oxide allows us to create epoxide composites with high complex dielectric permittivities and dielectric loss tangents.  相似文献

As one of the most important energy storage devices, dielectric capacitors have attracted increasing attention because of their ultrahigh power density, which allows them to play a critical role in many high-power electrical systems. To date, four typical dielectric materials have been widely studied, including ferroelectrics, relaxor ferroelectrics, anti-ferroelectrics, and linear dielectrics. Among these materials, linear dielectric polymers are attractive due to their significant advantages in breakdown strength and efficiency. However, the practical application of linear dielectrics is usually severely hindered by their low energy density, which is caused by their relatively low dielectric constant. This review summarizes some typical studies on linear dielectric polymers and their nanocomposites, including linear dielectric polymer blends, ferroelectric/linear dielectric polymer blends, and linear polymer nanocomposites with various nanofillers. Moreover, through a detailed analysis of this research, we summarize several existing challenges and future perspectives in the research area of linear dielectric polymers, which may propel the development of linear dielectric polymers and realize their practical application.  相似文献

Ever since the discovery of polymer composites, its potential has been anticipated for numerous applications in various fields such as microelectronics, automobiles, and industrial applications. In this paper, we review filler reinforced polymer composites for its enormous potential in microelectronic applications. The interface and compatibility between matrix and filler have a significant role in property alteration of a polymer nanocomposites. Ceramic reinforced polymeric nanocomposites are promising candidate dielectric materials for several micro‐ and nano‐electronic devices. Because of its synergistic effect like high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and dielectric constant of ceramic fillers with the polymer matrix, the resultant nanocomposites have high dielectric breakdown strength. The thermal and dielectric properties are discussed in the view of filler alignment techniques and its effect on the composites. Furthermore, the effect of various surface modified filler materials in polymer matrix, concepts of network forming using filler, and benefits of filler alignment are also discussed in this work. As a whole, this review article addresses the overall view to novice researchers on various properties such as thermal and dielectric properties of polymer matrix composites and direction for future research to be carried out.  相似文献

A new type of graphene@poly(dopamine)-Ag (Gns@PDA-Ag) core-shell nanoplatelets was designed to improve the dielectric properties of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composites. The microstructure, dielectric performances and the effects of Ag nanoparticles’ content on the dielectric properties of composites were investigated. Results showed that the addition of Gns@PDA-Ag nanoplatelets could effectively improve the dielectric constant of the composite. When tested at low frequency (below 100 Hz), the highest dielectric constant of the TPU/Gns@PDA-0.78Ag (3 wt%) composite was 118.82, which was 14 times higher than that of pure TPU (8.39). This increase in dielectric constant should be attributed to the strong polarization effect of conductive graphene nanoflakes (Gns) and Ag nanoparticles to TPU molecules. The PDA shell could prevent direct contact between Gns and Ag nanoparticles, limit the formation of conductive pathways, which kept the dielectric loss of the composites at a low level and maintained the breakdown strength in a stable state. Compared with pure TPU (0.29), the minimum dielectric loss of composites was only 0.36. Moreover, after Gns@PDA-Ag nanoplatelets with higher Ag content were doped into TPU, the composite showed a higher dielectric constant, and due to the existence of the Coulomb blocking effect, the dielectric loss did not increase significantly. The scalability and simplicity of the described method will provide a promising route to polymer composites for highspeed integrated circuits and energy storage applications.  相似文献

Since the discovery of the first ferroelectric Rochelle salt, most ferroelectrics have been investigated showing thermally triggered symmetry-breaking phase transition. Although photochromism arising from geometrical isomerization was reported as early as 1867, such photoswitchable ferroelectric crystals have scarcely been developed to date. Herein, we report that salicylideneaniline is a photochromic ferroelectric crystal. Upon photoirradiation, the dielectric constant shows obvious switching between high and low dielectric states, and more importantly, the ferroelectric polarization demonstrates quick and reversible switching. This work opens the gate to developing photoswitchable ferroelectrics, which holds great potential for applications in optically controlled smart devices.  相似文献

This study focused on uncovering the relationship among nanofiller, crystallization behavior, and dielectric property of polymer composites. The effects of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and heat treatment on the crystalline structures and dielectric properties of the semi‐crystalline polymers were analyzed by using high density polyethylene (HDPE) as a matrix, which is a representative of non‐polar polymer and contains only one crystal structure. The experimental results showed that the degree of crystallinity, size distribution of crystallity, and relative amount of different crystal planes in the HDPE matrix were changing due to the addition of CNFs. With the increase of CNF loading, the dielectric constant, dielectric loss and AC conductivity of the HDPE composites were increased, presenting a typical percolation characteristic, and the dependence of the dielectric constant on frequency became more obvious. All kinds of electronic transmission, polarization effect, and relaxation behaviors in CNF/HDPE composite system were deeply analyzed. After heat treatment, the degree of crystallinity of HDPE composites was decreased with the enhanced cooling rate. For the CNF/HDPE composites with nanofiller content slightly higher than the percolation threshold, the significant increase of the dielectric constant and the dramatical reduction of the dielectric loss over a wide frequency range were realized simultaneously through rapid cooling treatment. The research indicated that a general commercial polymer material with excellent dielectric properties, which exhibited a high dielectric constant and a low dielectric loss, can be obtained by a simple technical approach different from traditional fabrication method of threshold composites.  相似文献

New high performance insulating composites based on hollow silica tubes (mHST) and bismaleimide/diallylbisphenol A (BDM/DBA) resin, which exhibit improved toughness, dielectric properties, and flame retardancy, were successfully developed. The effect of the amount of mHST on the properties of composites was systematically studied. Results show that the impact strength of the composite with 0.5 wt% mHST is about 2.2 times that of BDM/DBA resin. In addition, compared with BDM/DBA resin, the composites show lower and stable dielectric constant, better frequency stability of dielectric loss, significantly improved flame retardancy, and similarly outstanding thermal resistance. The reasons behind these attractive integrated properties are discussed from the view of structure–property relationship. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Liquid crystal polymer (LCP) composites filled with sepiolite and glass microcapsules were prepared by melt compounding. The composites were extruded using a twin-screw extruder and injection-molded. The objective of this study is to check a possibility of producing a polymeric composite with a low dielectric constant. Physical characteristics of the composites, such as morphological, rheological, mechanical, and electrical properties were analyzed. In particular, the glass microcapsule-reinforced LCP composites showed a significant improvement in lowering the dielectric constant due to its high air content. Additionally, sepiolite could act as an effective filler to improve the mechanical properties of the composites.  相似文献

In this study, rigid 4,4'-diglycidyl(3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbiphenyl) epoxy(TMBP)-based composites were developed by the incorporation of varying percentages of commercial hollow glass microspheres(HGMs, QH-450) into the TMBP resin used for electronic packaging. The thermal and mechanical properties as well as the morphology of all the composites were characterized, and dielectric properties were characterized by advanced analytical techniques. The results reveal that a series of TMBP/QH-450 composites exhibits higher initial degradation temperatures(Td,5%>300℃), and the residual char and glass transition temperature were clearly improved with QH-450 loading. In addition, all epoxy composites exhibited a lower dielectric constant ranging from 3.74 to 3.06 at 1.2 MHz because the lower dielectric properties of the inert gas used as the core of the QH-450 decreased molecule polarity. Hence, this developed TMBP/QH450 system demonstrates potential applications in electronic packaging.  相似文献

Hybrid silica spheres (HS) of size 270-350 nm with vinyl and aminopropyl surface groups were incorporated in polystyrene (PS), and its effect on dielectric properties, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), and strength of PS-HS composite was studied. Incorporation of HS in PS followed a decrease in the dielectric constant from 3.2 for PS to 2.6 for composite with 7.5 vol % HS. The decrease in the dielectric constant was attributed to (i) increased interfacial porosity, (ii) formation of anhydrous HS having low dielectric constant, during hot processing of the composites, and (iii) dispersion and preservation of the anhydrous HS in the hydrophobic matrix. The dielectric constant of the composites with HS content up to 7.5 vol % does not vary much with temperature in the range from -20 to 65 °C. These composites also exhibited reduced CTE and improved flexural strength/stiffness due to good interfacial bonding through HS vinyl groups and dispersion of the filler in the matrix. The dielectric loss increased with HS content, and the loss measured for 7.5 vol % PS-HS composite was 6 × 10(-3), as compared to 10(-4) for PS. At HS loading above 7.5 vol %, the tendency of HS to agglomerate and form percolated structure lead to an increase in the dielectric constant and decrease in the mechanical properties of the composites.  相似文献

This paper reports the structural, electrical, dielectric and mechanical properties of the Styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN)/graphite sheets (GS) composites. The composites were prepared by in situ polymerization. The variation of electrical conductivity, dielectric constant and ac conductivity as a function of volume fraction of GS was found to follow the power law model. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor of SAN/GS composites increased significantly near the percolation. The frequency dependence of dielectric constant, dissipation factor and ac conductivity was also analyzed. Nearly ohmic behavior of current density with electric field was observed above the percolation threshold. The composite was found to possess the hardness of pure polymer at the threshold value of GS.  相似文献

Acrylonitrile rubber(NBR) composites filled with barium titanate(BT) were prepared using an internal mixer and a two-roll mill. Also, a secondary filler, namely carbon nanotubes(CNT), was added in order to find a potential synergistic blend ratio of BT and CNT. The cure characteristics, tensile and dielectric properties(dielectric constant and dielectric loss) of the composites were determined. It was found that NBR/BT composites with CNT secondary filler, at a proper BT:CNT ratio, exhibited shorter scorch time(t_(s1)) and cure time(t_(c90)) together with superior tensile properties and reinforcement efficiency, relative to the one with only the primary filler. In addition, the NBR/BT-CNT composite with 80 phr BT and 1-2 phr CNT had dielectric constant of 100-500, dielectric loss of 12-100 and electrical conductivity below 10~(-4) S/m together with high thermal stability. Thus, with a proper BT:CNT mix and filler loading, we can produce mechanically superior rubber composites that are easy to process and low-cost, for flexible dielectric materials application.  相似文献
