A canonical real line bundle associated to a minimal Lagrangian submanifold in a Kähler-Einstein manifold X is known to be special Lagrangian when considered as a subset of the canonical line bundle of X with a natural Calabi-Yau structure. We first verify this result by standard moving frame computation, and obtain a uniform lower bound for the mass of compact minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in CPn. Similar correspondence is then proved for integrable G2 and Spin(7) structures on the bundle of anti self dual 2-forms and a Spin bundle respectively of a self dual Einstein 4-manifold N constructed by Bryant and Salamon. In this case, analogues of tangent and normal bundles of certain minimal surfaces in N are calibrated, i.e., associative, coassociative, or Cayley.  相似文献

We consider exact Lagrangian submanifolds in cotangent bundles. Under certain additional restrictions (triviality of the fundamental group of the cotangent bundle, and of the Maslov class and second Stiefel–Whitney class of the Lagrangian submanifold) we prove such submanifolds are Floer-cohomologically indistinguishable from the zero-section. This implies strong restrictions on their topology. An essentially equivalent result was recently proved independently by Nadler [16], using a different approach.  相似文献

Let X be a smooth n-dimensional projective variety defined over and let L be a line bundle on X. In this paper we shall construct a moduli space parametrizing -cohomology L-twisted Higgs pairs, i.e., pairs where E is a vector bundle on X and . If we take , the canonical line bundle on X, the variety is canonically identified with the cotangent bundle of the smooth locus of the moduli space of stable vector bundles on X and, as such, it has a canonical symplectic structure. We prove that, in the general case, in correspondence to the choice of a non-zero section , one can define, in a natural way, a Poisson structure on . We also analyze the relations between this Poisson structure on and the canonical symplectic structure of the cotangent bundle to the smooth locus of the moduli space of parabolic bundles over X, with parabolic structure over the divisor D defined by the section s. These results generalize to the higher dimensional case similar results proved in [Bo1] in the case of curves. Received November 4, 1997; in final form May 28, 1998  相似文献

We prove that the inclusion of every closed exact Lagrangian with vanishing Maslov class in a cotangent bundle is a homotopy equivalence. We start by adapting an idea of Fukaya-Seidel-Smith to prove that such a Lagrangian is equivalent to the zero section in the Fukaya category with integral coefficients. We then study an extension of the Fukaya category in which Lagrangians equipped with local systems of arbitrary dimension are admitted as objects, and prove that this extension is generated, in the appropriate sense, by local systems over a cotangent fibre. Whenever the cotangent bundle is simply connected, this generation statement is used to prove that every closed exact Lagrangian of vanishing Maslov index is simply connected. Finally, we borrow ideas from coarse geometry to develop a Fukaya category associated to the universal cover, allowing us to prove the result in the general case.  相似文献

In this work we show that, if L is a natural Lagrangian system such that the k-jet of the potential energy ensures it does not have a minimum at the equilibrium and such that its Hessian has rank at least n−2, then there is an asymptotic trajectory to the associated equilibrium point and so the equilibrium is unstable. This applies, in particular, to analytic potentials with a saddle point and a Hessian with at most 2 null eigenvalues. The result is proven for Lagrangians in a specific form, and we show that the class of Lagrangians we are interested can be taken into this specific form by a subtle change of spatial coordinates. We also consider the extension of this results to systems subjected to gyroscopic forces.  相似文献

This the second part of a three-part investigation of the behavior of certain analytical invariants of manifolds that can be split into the union of two submanifolds. In Part I we studied a splicing construction for low eigenvalues of self-adjoint elliptic operators over such a manifold. Here we go on to study parameter families of such operators and use the previous “static” results in obtaining results on the decomposition of spectral flows. Some of these “dynamic” results are expressed in terms of Maslov indices of Lagrangians. The present treatment is sufficiently general to encompass the difficulties of zero-modes at the ends of the parameter families as well as that of “jumping Lagrangians.” In Part III, we will compare infinite- and finite-dimensional Lagrangians and determinant line bundles and then introduce “canonical perturbations” of Lagrangian subvarieties of symplectic varieties. We shall then use this information to study invariants of 3-manifolds, including Casson's invariant. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Lagrangians related to submersions and foliations, which are analogous to Riemannian submersions and Riemannian foliations respectively are studied in the paper. One prove that a bundle-like Lagrangian, a transverse hyperregular Lagrangian, a hyperregular Lagrangian foliated cocycle or a geodesic orthogonal property are equivalent data for a foliation. A conjecture of E. Ghys is proved in a more general setting than that of Finslerian foliations: a foliation that has a transverse positively definite Lagrangian is a Riemannian foliation. One extend also a result of Miernowski and Mozgawa on Finslerian foliations, proving that the natural lift to the normal bundle of a Lagrangian foliation that has a transverse positively definite Lagrangian is a Riemannian foliation.  相似文献

In the framework of the BRST-BV approach to the formulation of relativistic mechanics, we consider massless and massive fields of arbitrary spin propagating in a flat space and massless fields propagating in the AdS space. For such fields, we obtain BRST-BV Lagrangians invariant under gauge transformations. The Lagrangians and gauge transformations are constructed in terms of traceless gauge fields and traceless parameters of the gauge transformations. We consider the fields in the AdS space using the Poincaré parameterization of this space, which leads to a simple form of the BRST-BV Lagrangian. We show that in the Siegel gauge, the Lagrangian of the massless AdS fields leads to a decoupling of the equations of motion, and this substantially simplifies the study of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In a conformal algebra basis, we find a realization of the relativistic symmetries of fields and antifields in the AdS space.  相似文献

We obtain Noether and partial Noether operators corresponding to a Lagrangian and a partial Lagrangian for a system of two linear second-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with variable coefficients. The canonical form for a system of two second-order ordinary differential equations is invoked and a special case of this system is studied for both Noether and partial Noether operators. Then the first integrals with respect to Noether and partial Noether operators are obtained for the linear system under consideration. We show that the first integrals for both the Noether and partial Noether operators are the same. This can give rise to further studies on systems from a partial Lagrangian viewpoint as systems in general do not admit Lagrangians.  相似文献

We construct a canonical correspondence from a wide class of reproducing kernels on infinite-dimensional Hermitian vector bundles to linear connections on these bundles. The linear connection in question is obtained through a pull-back operation involving the tautological universal bundle and the classifying morphism of the input kernel. The aforementioned correspondence turns out to be a canonical functor between categories of kernels and linear connections. A number of examples of linear connections including the ones associated to classical kernels, homogeneous reproducing kernels and kernels occurring in the dilation theory for completely positive maps are given, together with their covariant derivatives.  相似文献

A Lagrangian submanifold in an almost Calabi–Yau manifold is called positive if the real part of the holomorphic volume form restricted to it is positive. An exact isotopy class of positive Lagrangian submanifolds admits a natural Riemannian metric. We compute the Riemann curvature of this metric and show all sectional curvatures are non-positive. The motivation for our calculation comes from mirror symmetry. Roughly speaking, an exact isotopy class of positive Lagrangians corresponds under mirror symmetry to the space of Hermitian metrics on a holomorphic vector bundle. The latter space is an infinite-dimensional analog of the non-compact symmetric space dual to the unitary group, and thus has non-positive curvature.  相似文献

We obtain an alternative class of Lagrangians in the so-called the multiplicative form for a system with one degree of freedom in the nonrelativistic and the relativistic cases. This new form of the Lagrangian can be regarded as a one-parameter class with the parameter λ obtained using an extension of the standard additive form of the Lagrangian because both forms yield the same equation of motion. We note that the multiplicative form of the Lagrangian can be regarded as a generating function for obtaining an infinite hierarchy of Lagrangians that yield the same equation of motion. This nontrivial set of Lagrangians confirms that the Lagrange function is in fact nonunique.  相似文献

We study the following rigidity problem in symplectic geometry: can one displace a Lagrangian submanifold from a hypersurface? We relate this to the Arnold Chord Conjecture, and introduce a refined question about the existence of relative leaf-wise intersection points, which are the Lagrangian-theoretic analogue of the notion of leaf-wise intersection points defined by Moser (Acta. Math. 141(1–2):17–34, 1978). Our tool is Lagrangian Rabinowitz Floer homology, which we define first for Liouville domains and exact Lagrangian submanifolds with Legendrian boundary. We then extend this to the ‘virtually contact’ setting. By means of an Abbondandolo–Schwarz short exact sequence we compute the Lagrangian Rabinowitz Floer homology of certain regular level sets of Tonelli Hamiltonians of sufficiently high energy in twisted cotangent bundles, where the Lagrangians are conormal bundles. We deduce that in this situation a generic Hamiltonian diffeomorphism has infinitely many relative leaf-wise intersection points.  相似文献

The general equivalence and canonical form problems for quadratic variational problems under arbitrary linear changes of variable are formulated, and the role of classical invariant theory in their general solution is made clear. A complete solution to both problems for planar, first order quadratic variational problems is provided, including a complete list of canonical forms for the Lagrangians and corresponding Euler-Lagrange equations. Algorithmic procedures for determining the equivalence class and the explicit canonical form of a given Lagrangian are provided. Applications to planar anisotropic elasticity are indicated.  相似文献

We study the construction of Lagrangians that can be considered the Lagrangians of the p-adic sector of an adelic open scalar string. Such Lagrangians are closely related to the Lagrangian for a single p-adic string and contain the Riemann zeta function with the d’Alembertian in its argument. In particular, we present a new Lagrangian obtained by an additive approach that combines all p-adic Lagrangians. This new Lagrangian is attractive because it is an analytic function of the d’Alembertian. Investigating the field theory with the Riemann zeta function is also interesting in itself.  相似文献

This paper is the first of a three-part investigation into the behavior of analytical invariants of manifolds that can be split into the union of two submanifolds. In this article, we will show how the low eigensolutions of a self-adjoint elliptic operator over such a manifold can be studied by a splicing construction. This construction yields an approximated solution of the operator whenever we have two L2-solutions on both sides and a common limiting value of two extended L2-solutions. In Part II, the present analytic “Mayer-Vietoris” results on low eigensolutions and further analytic work will be used to obtain a decomposition theorem for spectral flows in terms of Maslov indices of Lagrangians. In Part III after comparing infinite- and finite-dimensional Lagrangians and determinant line bundles and then introducing “canonical perturbations” of Lagrangian subvarieties of symplectic varieties, we will study invariants of 3-manifolds, including Casson's invariant. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The natural first order Lagrangian is a function defined onpairs of Riemannian manifolds and which is invariant with respectto immersions and depends continuously on 1-jets of metrics. We prove that there is a canonical bijection between naturalfirst order Lagrangians and functions which are smooth, symmetricand even.  相似文献

For moduli space of stable parabolic bundles on a compact Riemann surface, we derive an explicit formula for the curvature of its canonical line bundle with respect to Quillen’s metric and interprete it as a local index theorem for the family of \(\overline\partial\)-operators in the associated parabolic endomorphism bundles. The formula consists of two terms: one standard (proportional to the canonical Kähler form on the moduli space), and one nonstandard, called a cuspidal defect, that is defined by means of special values of the Eisenstein–Maass series. The cuspidal defect is explicitly expressed through the curvature forms of certain natural line bundles on the moduli space related to the parabolic structure. We also compare our result with Witten’s volume computation.  相似文献

Consider a Stein manifold M obtained by plumbing cotangent bundles of manifolds of dimension greater than or equal to 3 at points. We prove that the Fukaya category of closed exact Spin Lagrangians with vanishing Maslov class in M is generated by the compact cores of the plumbing. As applications, we classify exact Lagrangian spheres in A 2-Milnor fibres of arbitrary dimension, derive constraints on exact Lagrangian fillings of Legendrian unknots in disk cotangent bundles, and prove that the categorical equivalence given by the spherical twist in a homology sphere is typically not realised by any compactly supported symplectomorphism.  相似文献
