In this paper we study the relation between the topology of the set R(f) of regular points and the topology of its image f(R(f)), for some special maps acting between two manifolds M and N. The results are oriented towards negative examples for the inverse problem of deciding whether a given closed subset of the source manifold is a critical set.  相似文献

Let be the set of entrywise nonnegative n×n matrices. Denote by r(A) the spectral radius (Perron root) of . Characterization is obtained for maps such that r(f(A)+f(B))=r(A+B) for all . In particular, it is shown that such a map has the form

The aim of this note is to generalize the concept of warped product to a foliated manifold (M,F,g) as follows: If is a smooth function constant along the leaves of the foliation F then new metric structure gf on the manifold M is constructed as follows: gf(v,w)=f2g(v,w) if v,w are tangent to F and gf(v,w)=g(v,w) if v or w is perpendicular to F. A foliated manifold (M,F,gf) is called warped foliation while f is called warping function.Next, if is a sequence of warping functions on M, the question of the existence of the limit in Gromov-Hausdorff of a sequence ((M,F,gfn))nN warped foliation is asked. A number of examples is considered such foliations with dense leaf or foliations consisting of finite number of Reeb components. Next, sufficient and necessary condition of converging in Gromov-Hausdorff sense of a Riemannian foliation with all leaves compact to the space of leaves with a metric defined by Hausdorff distance of leaves is developed. Finally some results on Hausdorff foliations with all leaves compact are shown.  相似文献

We show that the spectral radius ρ(D) of a digraph D with n vertices and c2 closed walks of length 2 satisfies Moreover, equality occurs if and only if D is the symmetric digraph associated to a -regular graph, plus some arcs that do not belong to cycles. As an application of this result, we construct new sharp upper bounds for the low energy of a digraph, which extends Koolen and Moulton bounds of the energy to digraphs.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the largest Laplacian spectral radius of the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges and the bicyclic bipartite graphs, respectively. Identifying the center of a star K1,k and one vertex of degree n of Km,n, we denote by the resulting graph. We show that the graph (1?k?n-4) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges, and (n?7) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among all the bicyclic bipartite graphs.  相似文献

We consider tensors T=fg on the pseudo-euclidean space Rn and on the hyperbolic space Hn, where n?3, g is the standard metric and f is a differentiable function. For such tensors, we consider, in both spaces, the problems of existence of a Riemannian metric , conformal to g, such that , and the existence of such a metric which satisfies , where is the scalar curvature of . We find the restrictions on the Ricci candidate for solvability and we construct the solutions when they exist. We show that these metrics are unique up to homothety, we characterize those globally defined and we determine the singularities for those which are not globally defined. None of the non-homothetic metrics , defined on Rn or Hn, are complete. As a consequence of these results, we get positive solutions for the equation , where g is the pseudo-euclidean metric.  相似文献

A nonlinear map φ between operator algebras is said to be a numerical radius isometry if w(φ(TS))=w(TS) for all T, S in its domain algebra, where w(T) stands for the numerical radius of T. Let and be two atomic nests on complex Hilbert spaces H and K, respectively. Denote the nest algebra associated with and the diagonal algebra. We give a thorough classification of weakly continuous numerical radius isometries from onto and a thorough classification of numerical radius isometries from onto .  相似文献

For a bounded function f from the unit sphere of a closed subspace X of a Banach space Y, we study when the closed convex hull of its spatial numerical range W(f) is equal to its intrinsic numerical range V(f). We show that for every infinite-dimensional Banach space X there is a superspace Y and a bounded linear operator such that . We also show that, up to renormig, for every non-reflexive Banach space Y, one can find a closed subspace X and a bounded linear operator TL(X,Y) such that .Finally, we introduce a sufficient condition for the closed convex hull of the spatial numerical range to be equal to the intrinsic numerical range, which we call the Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property, and which is weaker than the uniform smoothness and the finite-dimensionality. We characterize strong subdifferentiability and uniform smoothness in terms of this property.  相似文献

Let (M,g) be a compact Riemannian manifold and T1M its unit tangent sphere bundle. Unit vector fields defining harmonic maps from (M,g) to , being the Sasaki metric on T1M, have been extensively studied. The Sasaki metric, and other well known Riemannian metrics on T1M, are particular examples of g-natural metrics. We equip T1M with an arbitrary Riemannian g-natural metric , and investigate the harmonicity of a unit vector field V of M, thought as a map from (M,g) to . We then apply this study to characterize unit Killing vector fields and to investigate harmonicity properties of the Reeb vector field of a contact metric manifold.  相似文献

We consider completely regular Hausdorff spaces. In this paper we investigate the space of probability Radon measures P(X) on a space X and the property to be a Prohorov space. We prove that the space P(X) is sieve-complete if and only if X is sieve-complete. Every mapping generates the mapping . Some properties of the mapping P(φ) are studied. In particular, we investigate under which conditions the open continuous image of a Prohorov space is Prohorov.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that a univalent orientation-preserving harmonic mapping defined on the unit disk U with the normalization f(0)=0, , is a typically real mapping, if f(U) is a starlike domain with respect to the origin or f(U) is convex in one direction.  相似文献

We prove some pinching results for the extrinsic radius of compact hypersurfaces in space forms. In the hyperbolic space, we show that if the volume of M is 1, then there exists a constant C depending on the dimension of M and the L-norm of the second fundamental form B such that the pinching condition (where H is the mean curvature) implies that M is diffeomorphic to an n-dimensional sphere. We prove the corresponding result for hypersurfaces of the Euclidean space and the sphere with the Lp-norm of H, p?2, instead of the L-norm.  相似文献

Given a positive function F on Sn which satisfies a convexity condition, we define the rth anisotropic mean curvature function Mr for hypersurfaces in Rn+1 which is a generalization of the usual rth mean curvature function. Let be an n-dimensional closed hypersurface with , for some r with 1?r?n−1, which is a critical point for a variational problem. We show that X(M) is stable if and only if X(M) is the Wulff shape.  相似文献

Let be a smooth function such that f(0)=0. We give a condition J(id) on f when for arbitrary preserving orientation diffeomorphism such that ?(0)=0 the function ?f is right equivalent to f, i.e. there exists a diffeomorphism such that ?f=fh at 0∈Rm. The requirement is that f belongs to its Jacobi ideal. This property is rather general: it is invariant with respect to the stable equivalence of singularities, and holds for non-degenerated, simple, and many other singularities. We also globalize this result as follows. Let M be a smooth compact manifold, a surjective smooth function, DM the group of diffeomorphisms of M, and the group of diffeomorphisms of R that have compact support and leave [0,1] invariant. There are two natural right and left-right actions of DM and on C(M,R). Let SM(f), SMR(f), OM(f), and OMR(f) be the corresponding stabilizers and orbits of f with respect to these actions. We prove that if f satisfies J(id) at each critical point and has additional mild properties, then the following homotopy equivalences hold: SM(f)≈SMR(f) and OM(f)≈OMR(f). Similar results are obtained for smooth mappings MS1.  相似文献

A space X is said to have property (USC) (resp. (LSC)) if whenever is a sequence of upper (resp. lower) semicontinuous functions from X into the closed unit interval [0,1] converging pointwise to the constant function 0 with the value 0, there is a sequence of continuous functions from X into [0,1] such that fn?gn (nω) and converges pointwise to 0. In this paper, we study spaces having these properties and related ones. In particular, we show that (a) for a subset X of the real line, X has property (USC) if and only if it is a σ-set; (b) if X is a space of non-measurable cardinal and has property (LSC), then it is discrete. Our research comes of Scheepers' conjecture on properties S1(Γ,Γ) and wQN.  相似文献
