An analytical solution is presented in this paper to investigate the control mechanism and modal characteristics of finite periodic and irregular ribbed plates. Peak responses of a finite periodic ribbed plate were examined where they were grouped into two sets of propagation zones according to the coupling mechanism at beam/plate interfaces. Details of modal characteristics in pass bands of the periodic ribbed plate were elucidated and the control mechanism was discussed. Modes in each pass band that are governed by shear force couplings were characterized by one of the beam flexural modes whose modal responses could be represented approximately by those of the corresponding orthotropic plate modes. Modes in the second set of pass bands were found to retain the resonance frequencies of the corresponding modes of the unribbed base plate. Higher order orthotropic plate modes were also identified, which could not be grouped into any pass bands defined by the classical periodic theory. The control mechanism leading to vibration confinement in disordered and irregular ribbed plates was also discussed. It was found that beam spacing irregularity attributes to localization of the group of modes associated with flexural wave couplings but not the group of modes associated with moment couplings.  相似文献

The Fiorito, Madigosky and Überall approximate representation [1] of the acoustic transmission coefficient of an infinite, isotropic, elastic plate by resonances associated with Lamb modes is examined and clarification of its properties is obtained. Some theoretical extension is provided which validates coherent addition of these overlapping resonances. Minor limitations shown are that the theory is inapplicable near grazing incidence and that it gives only a partial solution at incidence beyond the second critical angle when the frequency thickness product is the variable. Existing overlapping resonances theory is shown not to yield a unique relationship between the incident wave and a set of physical motions within the plate, and an approach to overcome this non-uniqueness is suggested. An equivalence is demonstrated between the 3 dB resonance half-width of each Lamb mode and the imaginary part of the modal wavenumber per unit wavenumber of the fluid, and this facilitates the numerical checking of the theory which is carried out in a companion paper [2] and yields convincing proof of the applicability of the approach.  相似文献

针对兰姆波多模态识别问题,提出了基于小样本字典学习的模态识别方法。将多层复合板的频散特性看作一个线性时不变系统,首先,根据频散知识模拟各个模态传播特定距离后的信号,提取走时和能量特征创建字典;其次,获取待测信号的走时特征,通过查询字典来识别兰姆波模态;最后,根据能量参数估计结果,实现待测信号中各模态信号的分离和重构。通过对三层粘接的AAA板(铝板-亚克力板-铝板,每层厚度为2mm)中传播距离为0.3m、0.5m的直达波和反射波的实验验证,结果显示该方法对A0、S0模态的有效识别和各个波包信号的准确重建。  相似文献

本文研究了薄板二面有固体导负载时板中Lamb波的传播,从弹性波理论出发并结合应的边界条件,导出板中Lamb波的色散方程,数值计算表示,不管作为自由状态时板中Lamb波相速(板厚取定时)是大于或小于外层固体的声表面波波速,板中对称及反对称模式的Lamb波相速都随着外层固体层厚度增加而变化并且渐近于外层固体的声表面波波速,数值计算又表明,对很薄的板,板中对称及反对称模式的相速均随负载板的厚度呈线性变化  相似文献

Ultrasonic S0 waves (fundamental symmetric Lamb modes) are being considered in several laboratories for the nondestructive characterization of the texture (preferred grain orientation) and formability of metal sheets and plates. In a typical experimental setup, the velocities of the S0 waves are measured as a function of wave propagation angle with respect to the rolling direction of the plate. However, the S0 waves are known to be dispersive, and that dispersion must be considered in order to isolate the small, texture-induced shifts in the S0 wave velocity. Currently, there are two approximate dispersion correction methods, one proposed by Thompson et al. [Met. Trans. A 20, 2431 (1989)] and the other introduced by Hirao and Fukuoka [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 85, 2311 (1989)]. In this paper, these two methods will be evaluated using an exact theory for wave propagation in orthotropic plates. Through the evaluation, the limits of the current texture measurement techniques are established. It is found that when plate thickness to wavelength ratio is less than 0.15, both Thompson's and Hirao's methods work satisfactorily. When the thickness to wavelength ratio exceeds 0.3, neither Thompson's nor Hirao's dispersion correction method provides adequate corrections for the current texture measurement techniques. Within the range of 0.15-0.3, Thompson's method is recommended for weakly anisotropic sheets and plates and Hirao's method may be more appropriate for some strongly anisotropic cases.  相似文献

基于机电类比原理和变厚度薄圆环的平面应力方程,推导了幂函数型环形聚能器径向振动的等效电路、共振频率方程和位移放大系数。讨论了第一、二阶径向共振频率及相应的位移放大系数随圆环半径比的变化关系。结果表明,幂函数型环形聚能器径向振动的等效电路是一种非互易二端口等效网络;一阶和二阶共振频率随圆环内外半径比的增大而增大;一阶径向共振模式下位移放大系数随圆环半径比的增大先降低后升高,二阶径向共振模式下位移放大系数随圆环半径比的增大而降低,但二阶时的位移放大系数整体大于一阶,因此二阶径向共振模式具有更好的径向振动性能。用COMSOL有限元软件对解析理论分析结果进行了验证,仿真模拟结果与解析理论符合良好。根据幂函数型环形聚能器的等效电路模型,进一步设计了一种压电环形换能器,计算了第一、二阶径向共振频率、反共振频率及有效机电耦合系数,通过与COMSOL有限元软件模拟结果对比,符合良好。本文研究结果为幂函数型环形聚能器及压电环形换能器的工程应用提供了简明设计理论,文中研究结论可作为一种径向超声切割刀在超声工程中获得重要应用。   相似文献

A novel Lamb wave frequency-mixing technique is proposed for locating microcracks in a thin plate,which does not require the resonance condition of Lamb wave mixing and can accurately locate the microcracks through only one-time sensing.Based on the bilinear stress-strain constitutive model,a two-dimensional finite element(FE)model is built to investigate the frequency-mixing response induced by the interaction between two primary Lamb waves and a microcrack.When two primary Lamb waves of A0 and S0 modes with different frequencies excited on the same side of the plate simultaneously impinge on the examined microcrack,under the modulation of the contact acoustic nonlinearity,the microcrack itself can be deemed as the secondary sound source and it will radiate the Lamb waves of new combined frequencies.Based on the time of flight of the generated A0 mode at difference frequency,an indicator named normalized amplitude index(NAI)is defined to directly locate the multi-microcracks in the given plate.It is found that the number and location of the microcracks can be intuitively visualized by using the NAI based frequency-mixing technique.It is also demonstrated that the proposed frequency mixing technique is a promising approach for the microcrack localization.  相似文献

A quantitative theory for modeling the laser-generated transient ultrasonic Lamb waves, which propagates along arbitrary directions in orthotropic plates, is presented by employing an expansion method of generalized Lamb wave modes. The displacement field is expressed by a summation of the symmetric and antisymmetric modes in the surface stress-free orthotropic plate, and therefore the theory is particularly appropriate for waveform analyses of Lamb waves in thin plates because one needs only to evaluate several lower modes. The transient waveforms excited by the thermoelastic expansion and the oil-coating evaporation are analyzed for a transversely isotropic thin plate. The results show that the theory provides a quantitative analysis to characterize anisotropic elastic stiffness properties of orthotropic plates by laser-generated Lamb wave detection.  相似文献

The acoustic scattering from a fluid-loaded stiffened cylindrical shell is described by using elasticity theory. The cylindrical shell is reinforced by a thin internal plate which is diametrically attached along the tube. In this model, cylindrical shell displacements and constraints expressed from elasticity theory are coupled to those of the plate at the junctions, where plate vibrations are described by using plate theory. The present model is first validated at low frequency range (k1a approximately 5-40) by comparison with a previous model based on the Timoshenko-Mindlin thin shell theory and by experimental results. Theoretical and experimental resonance spectra are then analyzed in a high frequency range (k1a approximately 120-200). Only resonances due to the S0 wave are clearly observed in this frequency range, and their modes of propagation are identified. Furthermore, A0 wave propagation is detected, because of the presence of the reflection of this wave at the shell-plate junctions.  相似文献

金属弯板广泛应用于车辆、船舶、飞机等大型装备结构件中,折弯处易形成应力集中产生裂纹,直接影响构件的使用安全和寿命。本文开展了不锈钢弯板裂纹缺陷Lamb波检测技术研究,计算了钢板的频散曲线,优选三种不同频率的S0模态:0.25MHz、0.5MHz、1MHz。利用COMSOL软件建立频域仿真模型,模拟了Lamb波在3mm厚“L”形弯板内部的传播情况,开展折弯板裂纹缺陷检测实验,并使用小波包变换的方法对实验信号进行分析。结果表明,经小波变换后,0.25MHz、0.5MHz、1 MHz的S0模态Lamb波均可用于裂纹缺陷的识别检测.  相似文献

In the present work as the second part of the research work on wave propagation characteristics of helically orthotropic cylindrical shells, the main aim is to use the developed solution for resonance isolation and identification of an air-filled and water submerged Graphite/Epoxy cylindrical shell and quantitative sensitivity analysis of excited resonance frequencies to the perturbation in the material’s elastic constants. The physical justifications are presented for the singular features associated with the stimulated resonance frequencies according to their style of propagation and polarization, induced stress-strain fields and wave type. For evaluation purposes, the wave propagation characteristics of the anisotropic shell and the far-field form function amplitude of a limiting case are considered and good agreement with the solutions available in the literature is established.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the sound radiation from a water-filled exhaust pipe. The pipe opening and a plate attached to it form a vibrating surface for this radiation. Fluid-structural coupling between the pipe and enclosed fluid is included in the system modeling, but light fluid assumption is used for sound radiation into the space above the vibrating surface. In this paper, a numerical study on the n = 0 mode in the pipe shows that the wave types associated with this mode have different characteristics in two regions of the nondimensional frequency omega. A general exact analysis for three-dimensional scattering of a time-harmonic plane-progressive sound wave obliquely incident upon an arbitrarily thick bilaminated circular hollow cylinder of infinite extent, which is composed of a cylindrically orthotropic axially polarized piezoelectric inner layer perfectly bonded to an orthotropic outer layer, is presented. An approximate laminate model in the context of the so-called state space formulation along with the classical T-matrix solution technique involving a system global transfer matrix is employed to solve for the unknown modal scattering and transmission coefficients. Numerical example is given for an air-filled and water-submerged two-layered elasto-piezoelectric hybrid (steel/PZT4) hollow cylinder insonified by an obliquely incident unit-amplitude plane sound wave. Following the acoustic resonance scattering theory (RST), the total form function amplitude together with the associated global scattering, the far-field inherent background, and the resonance scattering coefficients of the nth normal mode are computed as a function of dimensionless frequency for selected angles of incidence, piezoelectric layer thickness parameters, and electrical boundary conditions (i.e., open/closed circuit or active). Also, the electrical voltage coefficients required for partial or complete cancellation of the reflected sound field are calculated. Limiting cases are considered and good agreements with the solutions available in the literature are obtained.  相似文献

Active fiber composites (AFC) are thin and conformable transducer elements with orthotropic material properties, since they are made of one layer of piezoelectric ceramic fibers. They are suitable for applications in structural health monitoring systems (SHM) with acoustic non-destructive testing methods (NDT). In the presented work the transfer behavior of an AFC as an emitter of transient elastic waves in plate-like structures is investigated. The wave field emitted by an AFC surface bonded on an isotropic plate was simulated with the finite-difference method. The model includes the piezoelectric element and the plate and allows the simulation of the elastic wave propagation. For comparison with the model experiments using a laser interferometer for non-contact measurements of particle velocities at different points around the AFC on the surface of the plate were performed. Transfer functions defined as the ratio of the electric voltage excitation signal and the resulting surface velocity at a specific point are separately determined for the two fundamental Lamb wave modes. In order to take the orthotropic behavior of the AFC into account the transfer functions are determined for several points around the AFC. Results show that the AFC is capable to excite the fundamental symmetric and antisymmetric Lamb wave mode. The antisymmetric mode is mainly radiated in the direction of the piezoelectric fibers, while the symmetric mode is spread over a larger angle. The amplitudes of the emitted waves depend on the frequency of the excitation as well as on the geometric dimensions of the transducer.  相似文献

针对无限大弹性分层固体板,研究了结构中导波的频散和激发特性。首先使用传递矩阵法推导分层板模型中导波的频散方程,然后用二分法求取导波各模式的频散曲线,进而分析结构中导波的频散特性。结果表明:在速度递增或递减的分层板中,基阶模式和高阶模式的高频极限分别等于低速层的瑞利波速和横波波速。对于含低速夹层的分层板,所有模式的高频极限都等于低速层的横波速度。在导波激发特性方面,研究了在具有一定宽度的法向力源作用下的分层板中导波各模式在结构中的法向位移谱。发现在速度递增的分层板结构中基阶模式是主导模式,而对于速度递减和含低速夹层模型,主导模式在不同的频段范围内对应不同的导波模式。   相似文献

In a companion paper [1] the Fiorito, Madigosky and Überall approximate theory of transmittivity of an infinite, isotropic, elastic plate in terms of Lamb mode resonances [2] is examined, and extended by validating coherent addition of these overlapping resonances. The present paper provides numerical and heuristic tests which yield convincing proof of the applicability of the overlapping resonances concept. At various thicknesses of a water-immersed, steel plate, including the half-space and zero thickness limits, the behaviour is shown to be compatible with known exact behaviour. Overlapping resonances explain the reduction towards zero of the transmittivity near the coincidence angles of the zero order Lamb modes as these converge to the Rayleigh angle. Contrary to earlier interpretations, both zero order modes survive at the half-space limit. The A0 mode is shown to contribute below (fd)critical, becoming then highly damped and, effectively, non-propagating. The interpretation provided of the transition of the A0 mode in this region bridges the gap between conventional Lamb mode theory and thin plate theory.  相似文献

A new method is proposed for calculating the dynamic elastic constants of an isotropic plate from measurements of the impact-echo resonance and Rayleigh wave velocity. Poisson's ratio is shown to be a single-valued function of the ratio between thickness frequency and Rayleigh wave velocity. This dependence is derived theoretically from the condition of resonance at the minimum frequency of the first-order symmetric Lamb mode. A finite element model is developed to determine how this frequency varies with Poisson's ratio. The results obtained by modal analysis and the power-spectral density technique are in good agreement with those calculated as the solution of the S1 Lamb mode equation. The method is verified by impact-echo tests on concrete and methacrylate plates. A laser interferometer is used to detect the vibration. Thickness frequencies are accurately identified by applying the multicross-spectral density to the signals detected at several points close to the impact point. In a separate experiment, Rayleigh waves are generated by the mediator technique. The wave velocities are determined from the arrival times of the surface wave at several points. Finally, the main sources of uncertainty are evaluated.  相似文献

Analytical expressions are found for the wavenumbers and resonance frequencies in flexible, orthotropic shells using the asymptotic methods. These expressions are valid for arbitrary circumferential orders n. The Donnell-Mushtari shell theory is used to model the dynamics of the cylindrical shell. Initially, an in vacuo cylindrical isotropic shell is considered and expressions for all the wavenumbers (bending, near-field bending, longitudinal and torsional) are found. Subsequently, defining a suitable orthotropy parameter ?, the problem of wave propagation in an orthotropic shell is posed as a perturbation on the corresponding problem for an isotropic shell. Asymptotic expressions for the wavenumbers in the in vacuo orthotropic shell are then obtained by treating ? as an expansion parameter. In both cases (isotropy and orthotropy), a frequency-scaling parameter (η) and Poisson's ratio (ν) are used to find elegant expansions in the different frequency regimes. The asymptotic expansions are compared with numerical solutions in each of the cases and the match is found to be good. The main contribution of this work lies in the extension of the existing literature by developing closed-form expressions for wavenumbers with arbitrary circumferential orders n in the case of both, isotropic and orthotropic shells. Finally, we present natural frequency expressions in finite shells (isotropic and orthotropic) for the axisymmetric mode and compare them with numerical and ANSYS results. Numerous studies that address the vibration of stepped thickness plates are reported in the literature. Predominately, classical plate theory has been used to formulate studies for both isotropic and anisotropic stepped plates. Mindlin plate theory has been employed to obtain results for thick isotropic stepped thickness plates. Exact solutions, Rayleigh-Ritz, differential quadrature and finite element methods have been employed to compute results for frequency of vibration. Results for frequency of vibration for thick orthotropic stepped thickness plates are presented here using orthorhombic material properties of aragonite. The finite element method has been used to compute frequencies and determine mode shapes for simply supported and clamped square Mindlin plates.  相似文献
