New theoretical results are presented about the principal matrix pth root. In particular, we show that the pth root is related to the matrix sign function and to the Wiener–Hopf factorization, and that it can be expressed as an integral over the unit circle. These results are used in the design and analysis of several new algorithms for the numerical computation of the pth root. We also analyze the convergence and numerical stability properties of Newtons method for the inverse pth root. Preliminary computational experiments are presented to compare the methods. Short duration, fast rise time ultra-wideband (UWB) electromagnetic pulses (nanopulses) are generated by numerous electronic devices in use today. Moreover, many new technologies involving nanopulses are under development and expected to become widely available soon. Study of nanopulse bioeffects is needed to probe their useful range in possible biomedical and biotechnological applications, and to ensure human safety. In this work we develop a computational approach to investigate electromagnetic fields in biological cells exposed to nanopulses. The simulation is based on a z-transformation of the electric displacement and a second-order Taylor approximation of a Cole–Cole expression for the frequency dependence of the dielectric properties of tissues, useful for converting from the frequency domain to the time domain. Maxwells equations are then calculated using the finite difference time domain method (FDTD), coupled with a perfectly matched layer to eliminate reflections from the boundary. Numerical results for a biological cell model are presented and discussed.Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000) 65M06, 92C05.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the (S) + 1 condition to multivalued mappings in an ordered Hausdorff topological vector space and we derive some existence results for generalized vector variational inequalities associated with multivalued mappings satisfying the (S) + 1 condition. We generalize also an existence result of Cubiotti and Yao for generalized variational inequalities of class (S) + 1 to barreled normed spaces. As consequences, some existence results for vector variational inequalities are established. This work was partially supported by grants from the National Science Council of the Republic of China. Let be a class of groups. A subgroup H of a group G is called -s-supplemented in G, if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and K/KHG belongs to where HG is the maximal normal subgroup of G which is contained in H. The main purpose of this paper is to study some subgroups of Fitting subgroup and generalized Fitting subgroup -s-supplemented and some new criterions of p-nilpotency of finite groups are obtained. *This research is supported by the grant of NSFC and TianYuan Fund of Mathematics of China (Grant #10626047).  相似文献

The main object of the present paper is to show how some fairly general analytical tools and techniques can be applied with a view to deriving summation, transformation and reduction formulas for multiple hypergeometric and multiple basic (or q-) hypergeometric series. By making use of some reduction formulas for multivariable hypergeometric functions, the authors investigate several closed-form evaluations of various families of multiple hypergeometric and q-hypergeometric series. Relevant connections of the results presented in this paper with those obtained in earlier works are also considered. A number of multiple q-series identities, which are developed in this paper, are observed to be potentially useful in the related problems involving closed-form evaluations of multivariable q-hypergeometric functions. The existence of Silnikov‘s orbits in a four-dimensional dynamical system is discussed. The existence of Silnikov‘s orbit resulting in chaotic dynamics is established by the fiber structure of invariant manifold and high-dimensional Melnikov method. Numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

A type of extensions called the -extention of topological spaces and their -equivalence and -trace systems are introduced, which ultimately characterize H-closed -extensions of a Hausdorff topological space. Also, the notion of -principal extensions is defined. A typical -principal extension consisting of certain grills on a Hausdorff space is constructed, and finally, some characterizations of H-closedness of a Hausdorff space are obtained.AMS Subject Classification (2000) 54D30 54D99  相似文献

Let X be a topological space, ( ) a net of Borel probability measures on X, and (t) a net in ]0,[ converging to 0. Let be a set of continuous functions such that for all x X that can be suitably distinguished by some continuous functions from any closed set not containing contains such a distinguishing function. Assuming that exists for all , we give a sufficient condition in order that ( ) satisfies a large deviation principle with powers (t) and not necessary tight rate function. When X is completely regular (not necessary Hausdorff), this condition is also necessary, and so strictly weaker than exponential tightness; this allows us to strengthen Brycs theorem in various ways. We give the general form of a rate function in terms of . A Prohorov-type theorem with a weaker notion than exponential tightness is obtained, which improves known results.  相似文献

Given a fixed point free antianalytic involution k of a domain G in thecomplex plane, bounded by a finite number of analytic curves, k-invariant Greensfunctions are defined on G. The Lindelöfs principle is extended to k-invariantGreens functions. When G is the annulus, k-invariant Greens functions areobtained in the explicit form. Since the factorization of the annulus by the group kgenerated by k produces a Möbius strip, the respective result helped us to obtain explicitforms for Greens functions on the Möbius strip.  相似文献

A large variety of Lp(p 0) form very general Opial type inequalities arepresented engaging different order generalized fractional derivatives of a function. These arebased on a generalization of Taylors formula for generalized fractional derivatives. In the finalresults of this work, a monotonicity property of the involved function/highest-order generalizedfractional derivative is used.  相似文献

Brauers centerlizer algebras have a basis consisting of undirected graphs. Signed Brauers algebras have a basis consisting of directed graphs, which generalizes Brauers algebras. For a ring R and a right R-module M, a submodule N of M is said to be -small in M if, whenever N + X = M with M/X singular, we have X = M. If there exists an epimorphism p: P M such that P is projective and Ker(p) is -small in P, then we say that P is a projective -cover of M. A ring R is called -perfect (resp., -semiperfect, -semiregular) if every R-module (resp., simple R-module, cyclically presented R-module) has a projective -cover. The class of all -perfect (resp., -semiperfect, -semiregular) rings contains properly the class of all right perfect (resp., semiperfect, semiregular) rings. This paper is devoted to various properties and characterizations of -perfect, -semiperfect, and -semiregular rings. We define (R) by (R)/Soc(RR) = Jac(R/Soc(RR)) and show, among others, the following results:
(1) (R) is the largest -small right ideal of R.
(2) R is -semiregular if and only if R/(R) is a von Neumann regular ring and idempotents of R(R) lift to idempotents of R.
(3) R is -semiperfect if and only if R/(R) is a semisimple ring and idempotents of R/(R) lift to idempotents of R.
(4) R is -perfect if and only if R/Soc(RR) is a right perfect ring and idempotents of R/(R) lift to idempotents of R.

In this paper we introduce the notion of operator semirings of a -semiring to study -semirings. It is shown that the lattices of all left (right) ideals (two-sided ideals) of a -semiring and its right (respectively left) operator semiring are isomorphic. This has many applications to characterize various -semirings.AMS Subject Classification (2000): 16Y60, 16Y99  相似文献

Starting from the question when all irreducible p-Brauer characters for a symmetric or an alternating group are of p-power degree, we classify the p-modular irreducible representations of p-power dimension in some families of representations for these groups. In particular, this then allows to confirm a conjecture by W. Willems for the alternating groups. Received: 14 June 2006  相似文献

In this paper the convergence of using the method of fundamental solutions for solving the boundary value problem of Laplaces equation in R2 is established, where the boundaries of the domain and fictitious domain are assumed to be concentric circles. Fourier series is then used to find the particular solutions of Poissons equation, which the derivatives of particular solutions are estimated under the L2 norm. The convergent order of solving the Dirichlet problem of Poissons equation by the method of particular solution and method of fundamental solution is derived. Dedicated to Charles A.
