The quinonoid ligand-bridged diruthenium compounds [(acac)(2)Ru(mu-L(2-))Ru(acac)(2)] (acac(-)=acetylacetonato=2,4-pentanedionato; L(2-)=2,5-dioxido-1,4-benzoquinone, 1; 3,6-dichloro-2,5-dioxido-1,4-benzoquinone, 2; 5,8-dioxido-1,4-naphthoquinone, 3; 2,3-dichloro-5,8-dioxido-1,4-naphthoquinone, 4; 1,5-dioxido-9,10-anthraquinone, 5; and 1,5-diimido-9,10-anthraquinone, 6) were prepared and characterized analytically. The crystal structure analysis of 5 in the rac configuration reveals two tris(2,4-pentanedionato)ruthenium moieties with an extended anthracenedione-derived bis(ketoenolate) pi-conjugated bridging ligand. The weakly antiferromagnetically coupled {Ru(III)(mu-L(2-))Ru(III)} configuration in 1-6 exhibits complicated overall magnetic and EPR responses. The simultaneous presence of highly redox-active quinonoid-bridging ligands and of two ruthenium centers capable of adopting the oxidation states +2, +3, and +4 creates a large variety of possible oxidation state combinations. Accordingly, the complexes 1-6 exhibit two reversible one-electron oxidation steps and at least two reversible reduction processes. Shifts to positive potentials were observed on introduction of Cl substituents (1-->2, 3-->4) or through replacement of NH by O (6-->5). The ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) absorptions in the visible region of the neutral molecules become more intense and shifted to lower energies on stepwise reduction with two electrons. On oxidation, the para-substituted systems 1-4 exhibit monocation intermediates with intervalence charge transfer (IVCT) transitions of Ru(III)Ru(IV) mixed-valent species. In contrast, the differently substituted systems 5 and 6 show no such near infrared (NIR) absorption. While the first reduction steps are thus assigned to largely ligand-centered processes, the oxidation appears to involve metal-ligand delocalized molecular orbitals with variable degrees of mixing.  相似文献

The title complexes were obtained in neutral form (n = 0) as rac (1) and meso isomers (2). 2 was crystallized for X-ray diffraction and its temperature-dependent magnetism studied. It contains two antiferromagnetically coupled ruthenium(III) ions, bridged by the quinizarine dianion QL(2-) (quinizarine = 1,4-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone). The potential of both the ligand (QLo --> QL4-) and the metal complex fragment combination [(acac)2RuII]2 --> ([(acac)2RuIV]2)4+ to exist in five different redox states creates a large variety of combinations, which was assessed for the electrochemically reversibly accessible 2+, 1+, 0, 1-, 2- forms using cyclic voltammetry as well as EPR and UV-vis-NIR spectroelectrochemistry. The results for the two isomers are similar: Oxidation to 1+ or 2+ causes the emergence of a near-infrared band (1390 nm), without revealing an EPR response even at 4 K. Reduction to 1- or 2- produces an EPR signal, signifying metal-centered spin but no near-infrared absorption. Tentatively, we assume metal-based oxidation of [(acac)2RuIII(mu-QL2-)RuIII(acac)2] to a mixed-valent intermediate [(acac)2RuIII(mu-QL2-)RuIV(acac)2]+ and ligand-centered reduction to a radical complex [(acac)2RuIII(mu-QL.3-)RuIII(acac)2 (-) with antiferromagnetic three-spin interaction.  相似文献

The title compounds involving the structurally characterized bridging ligand bpytz were characterized, showing very strong electrochemical stabilization of the mixed-valent RuIIRuIII state (Kc = 10(13.9)) but no detectable (epsilon < 20 M(-1) cm(-1)) intervalence charge-transfer band in the infrared region. In situ reduction of the neutral precursor produces a diruthenium(II) complex of the bpytz radical anion according to EPR spectroscopy, whereas oxidation of the mixed-valent form leads to a diruthenium(III) species.  相似文献

The diamagnetic title complexes were obtained from Ru(acac)(2)(CH(3)CN)(2) and 2-aminophenol or 2-aminothiophenol. X-ray structure analysis of (L(1))Ru(acac)(2) (L(1) = o-iminoquinone) revealed C-C intra-ring, C-O, and C-N distances which suggest a Ru(III)-iminosemiquinone oxidation state distribution with antiparallel spin-spin coupling. One-electron oxidation and reduction of both title compounds to paramagnetic monocations [(L)Ru(acac)(2)](+) or monoanions [(L)Ru(acac)(2)](-) occurs reversibly at widely separated potentials (deltaE > 1.3 V) and leads to low-energy shifted charge transfer bands. In comparison with clearly established Ru(II)-semiquinone or Ru(III)-catecholate systems the g tensor components 2.23 > g(1) > 2.09, 2.16 > g(2) > 2.07, and 1.97 > g(3) > 1.88 point to considerable metal contributions to the singly occupied MO, corresponding to Ru(III) complexes with either o-quinonoid (--> cations) or catecholate-type ligands (--> anions) and only minor inclusion of Ru(IV)- or Ru(II)-iminosemiquinone formulations, respectively. The preference for the Ru(III) oxidation state for all accessible species is partially attributed to the monoanionic 2,4-pentanedionate (acac) co-ligands which favor a higher metal oxidation state than, e.g., neutral 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy).  相似文献

The heterocyclic azo compound, 1-[(5-chloro-2-pyridyl)azo]-2-naphthol (5-Cl-β-PAN), forms various coloured metal chelates, which can be extracted with different organic solvents. Chelate stability is greatly affected by pH. The molar absorptivities are usually considerably greater than those of the β-PAN chelate. Although the bathochromic shifts produced on chelation are no greater than those with 5-Br-β-PAN, the selectivity is increased. The reactivity of tri- and tetravalent metal ions is decreased appreciably by introduction of the chlorine. A correct choice of pH, solvent and masking reagent allows 5-C1-β-PAN to be made reasonably selective.  相似文献

Mononuclear [Ru(II)(tptz)(acac)(CH3CN)]ClO4 ([1]ClO4) and mixed-valent dinuclear [(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-Eta+)-}Ru(II)(acac)(CH3CN)]ClO4 ([5]ClO4; acac = acetylacetonate) complexes have been synthesized via the reactions of Ru(II)(acac)2(CH3CN)2 and 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tptz), in 1:1 and 2:1 molar ratios, respectively. In [1]ClO4, tptz binds with the Ru(II) ion in a tridentate N,N,N mode (motif A), whereas in [5]ClO4, tptz bridges the metal ions unsymmetrically via the tridentate neutral N,N,N mode with the Ru(II) center and cyclometalated N,C- state with the Ru(III) site (motif F). The activation of the coordinated nitrile function in [1]ClO4 and [5]ClO4 in the presence of ethanol and alkylamine leads to the formation of iminoester ([2]ClO4 and [7]ClO4) and amidine ([4]ClO4) derivatives, respectively. Crystal structure analysis of [2]ClO4 reveals the formation of a beautiful eight-membered water cluster having a chair conformation. The cluster is H-bonded to the pendant pyridyl ring N of tptz and also with the O atom of the perchlorate ion, which, in turn, makes short (C-H- - - - -O) contacts with the neighboring molecule, leading to a H-bonding network. The redox potentials corresponding to the Ru(II) state in both the mononuclear {[(acac)(tptz)Ru(II)-NC-CH3]ClO4 ([1]ClO4) > [(acac)(tptz)Ru(II)-NH=C(CH3)-OC2H5]ClO4 ([2]ClO4) > [(acac)(tptz)Ru(II)-NH2-C6H4(CH3)]ClO4 ([3]ClO4) > [(acac)(tptz)Ru(II)-NH=C(CH3)-NHC2H5]ClO4 ([4]ClO4)} and dinuclear {[(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-H+)-}Ru(II)(acac)(NC-CH3)]ClO4 ([5]ClO4), [(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-H+(N+-O-)2)-}Ru(II)(acac)(NC-CH3)]ClO4 ([6]ClO4), [(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-H+)-}Ru(II)(acac)(NH=C(CH3)-OC2H5)]ClO4 ([7]ClO4), and [(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-Eta+)-}Ru(II)(acac)(NC4H4N)]ClO4 ([8]ClO(4))} complexes vary systematically depending on the electronic nature of the coordinated sixth ligands. However, potentials involving the Ru(III) center in the dinuclear complexes remain more or less invariant. The mixed-valent Ru(II)Ru(III) species ([5]ClO4-[8]ClO4) exhibits high comproportionation constant (Kc) values of 1.1 x 10(12)-2 x 10(9), with substantial contribution from the donor center asymmetry at the two metal sites. Complexes display Ru(II)- and Ru(III)-based metal-to-ligand and ligand-to-metal charge-transfer transitions, respectively, in the visible region and ligand-based transitions in the UV region. In spite of reasonably high K(c) values for [5]ClO4-[8]ClO4, the expected intervalence charge-transfer transitions did not resolve in the typical near-IR region up to 2000 nm. The paramagnetic Ru(II)Ru(III) species ([5]ClO4-[8]ClO4) displays rhombic electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra at 77 K (g approximately 2.15 and Deltag approximately 0.5), typical of a low-spin Ru(III) ion in a distorted octahedral environment. The one-electron-reduced tptz complexes [Ru(II)(tptz.-)(acac)(CEta3CN)] (1) and [(acac)2Ru(III){(mu-tptz-Eta+).2-}Ru(II)(acac)(CH3CN)] (5), however, show a free-radical-type EPR signal near g = 2.0 with partial metal contribution.  相似文献

The reactions of Rh(acac)[P(OPh)3]2 with H2, CO and olefins have been investigated using UV-VIS, IR, 1H and 31P NMR techniques. In the presence of H2 and free phosphite, Rh(acac)P2 produces HRhP4, which was shown to catalyse isomerization reactions of olefins. Addition of CO to HRhP4 produces HRh(CO)P3, which is a good hydroformylation catalyst. The latter hydride can also be obtained directly from the starting complex in the presence of H2, CO and free phosphite. No evidence for the formation of any hydride complexes could be found in the absence of free phosphite. The results are discussed with reference to earlier studies performed on these systems.  相似文献

A complete EPR and UV-Vis-NIR spectroelectrochemical characterisation has been carried out for the series 1(2+/+/0/-/2-) where is the 1 new complex [(mu-L)[Ru(II)(acac)2]2], L = 3,3',4,4'-tetraimino-3,3',4,4'-tetrahydrobiphenyl. The paramagnetic intermediates are identified as the anion radical (L*-) complex 1*- with a long-wavelength intra-ligand transition at 2160 nm and as the weakly coupled diruthenium(II,III) species 1+ (Kc= 10(3)) with a low-intensity intervalence charge transfer (IVCT) band at 1570 nm. DFT calculations using ADF and Gaussian 03 programs support these assignments.  相似文献

Star-shaped complex [Fe(III)[Fe(III)(L1)2]3] (3) was synthesized starting from N-methyldiethanolamine H2L1 (1) and ferric chloride in the presence of sodium hydride. For 3, two different high-spin iron(III) ion sites were confirmed by M?ssbauer spectroscopy at 77 K. Single-crystal X-ray structure determination revealed that 3 crystallizes with four molecules of chloroform, but, with only three molecules of dichloromethane. The unit cell of 3.4CHCl3 contains the enantiomers (delta)-[(S,S)(R,R)(R,R)] and (lambda)-[(R,R)(S,S)(S,S)], whereas in case of 3.3CH2Cl2 four independent molecules, forming pairs of the enantiomers [lambda-(R,R)(R,R)(R,R)]-3 and [lambda-(S,S)(S,S)(S,S)]-3, were observed in the unit cell. According to SQUID measurements, the antiferromagnetic intramolecular coupling of the iron(III) ions in 3 results in a S = 10/2 ground state multiplet. The anisotropy is of the easy-axis type. EPR measurements enabled an accurate determination of the ligand-field splitting parameters. The ferric star 3 is a single-molecule magnet (SMM) and shows hysteretic magnetization characteristics below a blocking temperature of about 1.2 K. However, weak intermolecular couplings, mediated in a chainlike fashion via solvent molecules, have a strong influence on the magnetic properties. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) were used to determine the structural and electronic properties of star-type tetranuclear iron(III) complex 3. The molecules were deposited onto highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). Small, regular molecule clusters, two-dimensional monolayers as well as separated single molecules were observed. In our STS measurements we found a rather large contrast at the expected locations of the metal centers of the molecules. This direct addressing of the metal centers was confirmed by DFT calculations.  相似文献

Crystallographically characterised 3,6-bis(2'-pyridyl)pyridazine (L) forms complexes with {(acac)2Ru} or {(bpy)2Ru2+}via one pyridyl-N/pyridazyl-N chelate site in mononuclear Ru(II) complexes (acac)2Ru(L), 1, and [(bpy)2Ru(L)](ClO4)2, [3](ClO4)2. Coordination of a second metal complex fragment is accompanied by deprotonation at the pyridazyl-C5 carbon {L --> (L - H+)-} to yield cyclometallated, asymmetrically bridged dinuclear complexes [(acac)2Ru(III)(mu-L - H+)Ru(III)(acac)2](ClO4), [2](ClO4), and [(bpy)2Ru(II)(mu-L - H+)Ru(II)(bpy)2](ClO4)3, [4](ClO4)3. The different electronic characteristics of the co-ligands, sigma donating acac- and pi accepting bpy, cause a wide variation in metal redox potentials which facilitates the isolation of the diruthenium(III) form in [2](ClO4) with antiferromagnetically coupled Ru(III) centres (J = -11.5 cm(-1)) and of a luminescent diruthenium(II) species in [4](ClO4)3. The electrogenerated mixed-valent Ru(II)Ru(III) states 2 and [4]4+ with comproportionation constants Kc > 10(8) are assumed to be localised with the Ru(III) ion bonded via the negatively charged pyridyl-N/pyridazyl-C5 chelate site of the bridging (L - H+)- ligand. In spectroelectrochemical experiments they show similar intervalence charge transfer bands of moderate intensity around 1300 nm and comparable g anisotropies (g1-g3 approximatly 0.5) in the EPR spectra. However, the individual g tensor components are distinctly higher for the pi acceptor ligated system [4]4+, signifying stabilised metal d orbitals.  相似文献

A series of cyano-bridged Ln(III)Ru(III)2 coordination polymers, Ph4P{Ln(NO3)2[Ru(acac)2(CN)2]2} [Ln = Tb (1), Dy (2), Er (3), Gd (4); Hacac = acetylacetone] have been synthesized by the reaction of Ln(NO3)3 with trans-Ph4P[Ru(acac)2(CN)2] in methanol. X-ray crystallographic determination reveals that these compounds are isostructural and have a wavy (4,4) layer structure with the Ln3+ ions bridged by trans-[Ru(acac)2(CN)2]-. Magnetic studies shows that the magnetic coupling between the Ln(III) and Ru(III) ions through the cyano bridges in 1-4 is negligibly weak.  相似文献

The infrared photodissociation spectra of [(CO 2) n (CH 3OH) m ] (-) ( n = 1-4, m = 1, 2) are measured in the 2700-3700 cm (-1) range. The observed spectra consist of an intense broad band characteristic of hydrogen-bonded OH stretching vibrations at approximately 3300 cm (-1) and congested vibrational bands around 2900 cm (-1). No photofragment signal is observed for [(CO 2) 1,2(CH 3OH) 1] (-) in the spectral range studied. Ab initio calculations are performed at the MP2/6-311++G** level to obtain structural information such as optimized structures, stabilization energies, and vibrational frequencies of [(CO 2) n (CH 3OH) m ] (-). Comparison between the experimental and the theoretical results reveals the structural properties of [(CO 2) n (CH 3OH) m ] (-): (1) the incorporated CH 3OH interacts directly with either CO 2 (-) or C 2O 4 (-) core by forming an O-HO linkage; (2) the introduction of CH 3OH promotes charge localization in the clusters via the hydrogen-bond formation, resulting in the predominance of CO 2 (-).(CH 3OH) m (CO 2) n-1 isomeric forms over C 2O 4 (-).(CH 3OH) m (CO 2) n-2 ; (3) the hydroxyl group of CH 3OH provides an additional solvation cite for neutral CO 2 molecules.  相似文献

The complex dication of the diruthenium(II) compound {(mu-tppz)[Ru(bik)Cl]2}(ClO4)2 can be oxidized and reduced in two one-electron steps each. In CH3CN/0.1 M Bu4NPF6, the odd-electron intermediates{(mu-tppz)[Ru(bik)Cl]2}n+, n=1 and 3, have comproportionation constants of 7x10(8) and 1x10(5), respectively. Both exhibit near-infrared absorptions, in the case of n=3 the 1640 nm band (epsilon=1200 M-1 cm-1, Deltanu1/2=1560 cm-1) is attributed to an intervalence charge-transfer transition. While the mixed-valent intermediate (n=3) is EPR silent even at 4 K, the n=1 form shows g(parallel) 2.005 and g( perpendicular) 1.994 at that temperature, signifying a diruthenium(II) complex of the tppz*- radical anion. The variation of energy and intensity of nuCO and of the ring vibration band around 1590 cm-1 has been monitored not only for {(mu-tppz)[Ru(bik)Cl]2}n+, n=0-4, but also for the mononuclear {(tppz)Ru(bik)Cl}n+, n=0-2. In the dinuclear complex the carbonyl stretching bands of the spectator ligand bik are shifted by about 15 cm-1 on each one-electron-transfer step, increasing with the positive charge. The mixed-valent {(mu-tppz)[Ru(bik)Cl]2}3+ shows a perceptibly broader nuCO band, suggesting incomplete valence averaging (partial localization).  相似文献
