Twisted vertex operators based on rational lattices have had many applications in vertex operator algebra theory and conformal field theory. In this paper, “relativized” twisted vertex operators are constructed in a general context based on isometries of rational lattices, and a generalized twisted Jacobi identity is established for them. This result generalizes many previous results. Relatived untwisted vertex operators had been studied in a monograph by the authors. The present paper includes as a special case the proof of the main relations among twisted vertex operators based on even lattices announced some time ago by the second author.  相似文献

We introduce self-dual codes over the Kleinian four group K=Z 2×Z 2 for a natural quadratic form on K n and develop the theory. Topics studied are: weight enumerators, mass formulas, classification up to length 8, neighbourhood graphs, extremal codes, shadows, generalized t-designs, lexicographic codes, the Hexacode and its odd and shorter cousin, automorphism groups, marked codes. Kleinian codes form a new and natural fourth step in a series of analogies between binary codes, lattices and vertex operator algebras. This analogy will be emphasized and explained in detail.  相似文献

The notion of vertex operator coalgebra is presented and motivated via the geometry of conformal field theory. Specifically, we describe the category of geometric vertex operator coalgebras, whose objects have comultiplicative structures meromorphically induced by conformal equivalence classes of worldsheets. We then show this category is isomorphic to the category of vertex operator coalgebras, which is defined in the language of formal algebra. The latter has several characteristics which give it the flavor of a coalgebra with respect to the structure of a vertex operator algebra and several characteristics that distinguish it from a standard dual—both of them will be highlighted.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the residue codes of extremal Type II $\mathbb{Z }_4$ -codes of length 24 and their relations to the famous moonshine vertex operator algebra (VOA). The main result is a complete classification of all residue codes of extremal Type II $\mathbb{Z }_4$ -codes of length 24. Some corresponding results associated to the moonshine VOA are also discussed.  相似文献

This is the third part in a series of papers developing a tensor product theory for modules for a vertex operator algebra. The goal of this theory is to construct a “vertex tensor category” structure on the category of modules for a suitable vertex operator algebra. The notion of vertex tensor category is essentially a “complex analogue” of the notion of symmetric tensor category, and in fact a vertex tensor category produces a braided tensor category in a natural way. In this paper, we focus on a particular element P(z) of a certain moduli space of three-punctured Riemann spheres; in general, every element of this moduli space will give rise to a notion of tensor product, and one must consider all these notions in order to construct a vertex tensor category. Here we present the fundamental properties of the P(z)-tensor product of two modules for a vertex operator algebra. We give two constructions of a P(z)-tensor product, using the results, established in Parts I and II of this series, for a certain other element of the moduli space. The definitions and results in Parts I and II are recalled.  相似文献

We formulate the notion of “N = 2 vertex superalgebra with two odd formal variables” using a Jacobi identity with odd formal variables in which an N = 2 superconformal shift is incorporated into the usual Jacobi identity for a vertex superalgebra. It is shown that as a consequence of these axioms, the N = 2 vertex superalgebra is naturally a representation of the Lie superalgebra isomorphic to the three-dimensional algebra of superderivations with basis consisting of the usual conformal operator and the two N = 2 superconformal operators. In addition, this superconformal shift in the Jacobi identity dictates the form of the odd formal variable components of the vertex operators, and allows one to easily derive the useful formulas in the theory. The notion of N = 2 Neveu–Schwarz vertex operator superalgebra with two odd formal variables is introduced, and consequences of this notion are derived. In particular, we develop the duality properties which are necessary for a rigorous treatment of the correspondence with the underlying supergeometry. Various other formulations of the notion of N = 2 (Neveu–Schwarz) vertex (operator) superalgebra appearing in the mathematics and physics literature are discussed, and several mistakes in the literature are noted and corrected.  相似文献

We prove a generalized rationality property and a new identity that we call the 'Jacobi identity' for intertwining operator algebras. Most of the main properties of genus-zero conformal field theories, including the main properties of vertex operator algebras, modules, intertwining operators, Verlinde algebras, and fusing and braiding matrices, are incorporated into this identity. Together with associativity and commutativity for intertwining operators proved by the author in [H4] and [H6], the results of the present paper solve completely the problem of finding a natural purely algebraic structure on the direct sum of all inequivalent irreducible modules for a suitable vertex operator algebra. Two equivalent definitions of intertwining operator algebra in terms of this Jacobi identity are given.  相似文献

For a vertex operator algebra V with conformal vector ω,we consider a class of vertex operator subalgebras and their conformal vectors. They are called semi-conformal vertex operator subalgebras and semiconformal vectors of(V,ω),respectively, and were used to study duality theory of vertex operator algebras via coset constructions.Using these objects attached to(V,ω),we shall understand the structure of the vertex operator algebra(V,ω).At first,we define the set Sc(V,ω)of semi-conformal vectors of V, then we prove that Sc(V,ω)is an affine algebraic variety with a partial ordering and an involution map.Corresponding to each semi-conformal vector, there is a unique maximal semi-conformal vertex operator subalgebra containing it.The properties of these subalgebras are invariants of vertex operator algebras. As an example,we describe the corresponding varieties of semi-conformal vectors for Heisenberg vertex operator algebras. As an application,we give two characterizations of Heisenberg vertex operator algebras using the properties of these varieties.  相似文献

In this paper, binary extremal singly even self-dual codes of length 40 and extremal odd unimodular lattices in dimension 40 are studied. We give a classification of extremal singly even self-dual codes of length 40. We also give a classification of extremal odd unimodular lattices in dimension 40 with shadows having 80 vectors of norm 2 through their relationships with extremal doubly even self-dual codes of length 40.  相似文献

It is well known that the validity of the so called Lenard–Magri scheme of integrability of a bi-Hamiltonian PDE can be established if one has some precise information on the corresponding 1st variational Poisson cohomology for one of the two Hamiltonian operators. In the first part of the paper we explain how to introduce various cohomology complexes, including Lie superalgebra and Poisson cohomology complexes, and basic and reduced Lie conformal algebra and Poisson vertex algebra cohomology complexes, by making use of the corresponding universal Lie superalgebra or Lie conformal superalgebra. The most relevant are certain subcomplexes of the basic and reduced Poisson vertex algebra cohomology complexes, which we identify (non-canonically) with the generalized de Rham complex and the generalized variational complex. In the second part of the paper we compute the cohomology of the generalized de Rham complex, and, via a detailed study of the long exact sequence, we compute the cohomology of the generalized variational complex for any quasiconstant coefficient Hamiltonian operator with invertible leading coefficient. For the latter we use some differential linear algebra developed in the Appendix.  相似文献

In this article we study and obtain a classification of Ising vectors in vertex operator algebras (VOAs) associated to binary codes and times root lattices, where an Ising vector is a conformal vector with central charge 1/2 generating a simple Virasoro sub-VOA. Then we apply our results to study certain commutant subalgebras related to root systems. We completely classify all Ising vectors in such commutant subalgebras and determine their full automorphism groups. C. H. The twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra is the universal central extension of the Lie algebra of differential operators on a circle of order at most one. In this paper, we first study the variety of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, which is a finite set consisting of two nontrivial elements. Based on this property,we also show that the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra is a tensor product of two vertex operator algebras. Moreover, associating to properties of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, we charaterized twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebras. This will be used to understand the classification problems of vertex operator algebras whose varieties of semi-conformal vectors are finite sets.  相似文献

In 2003 Harada and Tonchev showed a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of block designs with fixed-point-free automorphisms. We describe a construction of self-orthogonal codes from orbit matrices of 2-designs admitting certain automorphisms with fixed points (and blocks). Further, we present a construction of self-orthogonal codes from quotient matrices of divisible designs and divisible design graphs.  相似文献

It has been known for a long time that t-designs can be employed to construct both linear and nonlinear codes and that the codewords of a fixed weight in a code may hold a t-design. While a lot of progress in the direction of constructing codes from t-designs has been made, only a small amount of work on the construction of t-designs from codes has been done. The objective of this paper is to construct infinite families of 2-designs and 3-designs from a type of binary linear codes with five weights. The total number of 2-designs and 3-designs obtained in this paper are exponential in any odd m and the block size of the designs varies in a huge range.  相似文献

We construct irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras over left ideals of the algebra of differential operators on the circle, through certain irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras of infinite matrices with finite number of nonzero entries. The structures of vertex algebras associated with the vacuum representations of these algebras are determined. Moreover, we prove that under certain conditions, the highest-weight irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras of infinite matrices with finite number of nonzero entries naturally give rise to the irreducible modules of the simple quotients of these vertex algebras. From vertex algebra and its representation point of view, our results with positive integral central charge are high-order differential operator analogues of the well-known WZW models in conformal field theory associated with affine Kac-Moody algebras. Indeed, when the left ideals are the algebra of differential operators, our Lie algebras do contain affine Kac-Moody algebras as subalgebras and our results restricted on them are exactly the representation contents in WZW models. Similar results with negative central charge are also obtained.  相似文献

We produce counterexamples to show that in the definition of the notion of intertwining operator for modules for a vertex operator algebra, the commutator formula cannot in general be used as a replacement axiom for the Jacobi identity. We further give a sufficient condition for the commutator formula to imply the Jacobi identity in this definition. Using these results we illuminate the crucial role of the condition called the “compatibility condition” in the construction of the tensor product module in vertex operator algebra theory, as carried out in work of Huang and Lepowsky. In particular, we prove by means of suitable counterexamples that the compatibility condition was indeed needed in this theory.  相似文献

Jacobi polynomials were introduced by Ozeki in analogy with Jacobi forms of lattices. They are useful to compute coset weight enumerators, and weight enumerators of children. We determine them in most interesting cases in length at most 32, and in some cases in length 72. We use them to construct group divisible designs, packing designs, covering designs, and (t,r)-designs in the sense of Calderbank-Delsarte. A major tool is invariant theory of finite groups, in particular simultaneous invariants in the sense of Schur, polarization, and bivariate Molien series. A combinatorial interpretation of the Aronhold polarization operator is given. New rank parameters for spaces of coset weight distributions and Jacobi polynomials are introduced and studied here.  相似文献

I give a short proof of the following algebraic statement: in a simple vertex algebra, the underlying Lie conformal algebra is either abelian, or it is an irreducible central extension of a simple Lie conformal algebra. This provides many examples of non-finite simple Lie conformal algebras, and should prove useful for classification purposes.  相似文献

This paper reviews some recent results on the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to the integrable highest weight module L(k, 0) of positive integer level k for any affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra ĝ, where g is a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra. In particular, the generators and the C 2-cofiniteness of the parafermion vertex operator algebras are discussed. A proof of the well-known fact that the parafermion vertex operator algebra can be realized as the commutant of a lattice vertex operator algebra in L(k, 0) is also given.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of s-extremal lattice for unimodular Type I lattices. We give a bound on the existence of certain such s-extremal lattices: an s-extremal lattice of dimension n and minimal even norm μ must satisfy n < 12μ. This result implies that such lattices are also extremal and that there are a finite number of them. We also give an equivalent bound for s-extremal self-dual codes: an s-extremal code with doubly-even minimum distance d and length n must satisfy n < 6d, moreover such codes are extremal.
