We obtain massive and massless vector two-point functions in maximally symmetric spaces (and vacua) of any number of dimensions. These include de Sitter space and anti-de Sitter space, and their Euclidean analogsS n andH n. A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–. Others are 1 1 +v, 1 1 , 1,d 1 + 1/ (for d),dv, 3 + (for d), 4 , and 2m 2m+2 (form 2). The hypotheses vary; all inequalities are true for the spin-1/2 Ising model with nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic pair interactions.NSF Predoctoral Fellow (1976–1979). A method is suggested for the derivation of finite-size corrections in the thermodynamic functions of systems with pair interaction potential decaying at large distancesr asr d , whered is the space dimensionality and>0. It allows for a unified treatment of short-range (=2) and long-range (<2) interaction. The asymptotic analysis is illustrated by the mean spherical model of general geometryL d–d× d subject to periodic boundary conditions. The Fisher-Privman equation of state is generalized to arbitrary real values ofd, 0d. Existence of dynamics for infinitely many hard-spheres inv dimensions is proven in a set of full equilibrium measure.Singular unbounded perturbations are considered with pair potentials diverging as (x – a), >2 anda is the hard-core diameter. The two-photon absorption cross-sections and excited-state absorption cross-sections of the dyes rhodamine 6G, methylene blue and fuchsin dissolved in methanol, and of the dyes safranine T, 1,3,3,1,3,3-hexamethylindocarbocyanine iodide (HMICI) and 1,3,1,3-tetramethyl-2,2-dioxopyrimidi-6,6-carbocyanine hydrogen sulphate (PYC) dissolved in hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) are determined. The excitation is achieved with picosecond light pulses of a passively mode-locked Nd-glass laser (L = 1.054m). The influence of amplified spontaneous emission on the two-photon absorption dynamics is analysed.  相似文献

We consider KAM invariant curves for generalizations of the standard map of the form (x, y)=(x+y, y+f(x)), wheref(x) is an odd trigonometric polynomial. We study numerically their analytic properties by a Padé approximant method applied to the function which conjugates the dynamics to a rotation +. In the complex plane, natural boundaries of different shapes are found. In the complex plane the analyticity region appears to be a strip bounded by a natural boundary, whose width tends linearly to 0 as tends to the critical value.  相似文献

The q=2 random cluster model is studied in the context of two mean-field models: the Bethe lattice and the complete graph. For these systems, the critical exponents that are defined in terms of finite clusters have some anomalous values as the critical point is approached from the high-density side, which vindicates the results of earlier studies. In particular, the exponent ~ which characterizes the divergence of the average size of finite clusters is 1/2, and ~, the exponent associated with the length scale of finite clusters, is 1/4. The full collection of exponents indicates an upper critical dimension of 6. The standard mean field exponents of the Ising system are also present in this model (=1/2, =1), which implies, in particular, the presence of two diverging length-scales. Furthermore, the finite cluster exponents are stable to the addition of disorder, which, near the upper critical dimension, may have interesting implications concerning the generality of the disordered system/correlation length bounds.  相似文献

The validity of the finite-size scaling prediction about the existence of logarithmic corrections in the helicity modulus of three-dimensional O(n)-symmetric order parameter systems in confined geometries is studied for the three-dimensional mean spherical model of geometryL 3/s-d×d, 0d<3. For a fully finite geometry the general case ofd p0 periodic,d a0 antiperiodic,d 00 free, andd 10 fixed (d p+da+d0+d1=d, d=3) boundary conditions is considered, whereas for film (d=2) and cylinder (d=1) geometries only the case of antiperiodic and/or periodic boundary conditions is investigated. The corresponding expressions for the finite-size scaling function of the helicity modulus and its asymptotics in the vicinity, below, and above the bulk critical temperatureT c and the shifted critical temperatureT c,L are derived. The obtained results are not in agreement with the hypothesis of the existence of a log(L) correction term to the finite-size behavior of the helicity modulus in the finite-size critical region if d=3. In the case of film and cylinder geometries there are no logarithmic corrections. In the case of a fully finite geometry a universal logarithmic correction term –[(d 0d 1)/4–2da–1/2] lnL/L is obtained only for (T c-T) LlnL.  相似文献

Exciting a hexagonal CdSe crystal with picosecond Nd: glass laser pulses, two-photon absorption and resonant non-phase-matched second-harmonic generation occur simultaneously. Using different crystal orientations, all components of the secondharmonic susceptibility tensor (non-vanishing components ared 31,d 33 andd 15) and some components of the two-photon absorption susceptibility tensor ijkl (3) (–L; L, L, –L) are determined.  相似文献

A new theory of weak interactions is proposed in which the coupling between theV-A currents j(X) and j(X) is achieved not by vector mesons [by a propagator D c (X-X)], but by a scalar functionR(X – X), a fermion-antifermion loop which plays the role of a unique film joining two different pointsX andX of completely uncoupled space-times (as a result of which the space becomes a continuum). The room-temperature decomposition of metastable phases in the Al-Zn alloys (from 25 to 50 wt. % Zn) was studied by the transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Metastable phases, i.e. G.-P. zones, R-and -phases, were grown at 200 °C and their decomposition into equilibrium -phase at 20 °C was investigated. Ageing times comprised 1 to 999 days.Both the decomposition mechanism and the rate of decomposition of coherent phases were found to be dependent on the particle sizes and their density reached at 200 °C. The local vacancy supersaturation around the -nucleus in a dense system of G.-P. zones leads to an enhanced growth rate of such nucleus and thus to the formation of one large -precipitate at the expense of several neighbouring G.-P. zones. The elastic stress field around this -particle promotes the further nucleation and growth of -precipitates and leads to their gradual spread throughout the matrix. The decomposition of intermediately sized Rprecipitates results in the development of -precipitates of comparable sizes nucleated on the array of misfit dislocations at the periphery of R-precipitates. The cooperative effect between neighbouring particles does not influence the decomposition of large R-precipitated which split then into several smaller -particles. The rate of G.-P. zones or R to -decomposition increases with the increasing sizes of transition precipitates and with the zinc content of the alloy. The kinetics of to -decomposition was found to be independent both on the annealing time at 200 °C and on the investigated alloy composition. This can be attributed to the constant density of misfit dislocations as nucleation sites for -precipitates along the -matrix interface and to the large mutual separation of -precipitates in all these alloys.In conclusion we would like to express our thanks to Doc. We present fermionic sum representations of the characters , s (p, p) of the minimal M(p,p) models for all relatively prime integers p>p for some allowed values of r and s. Our starting point is biomial (q-binomial) identities derived from a truncation of the state counting equations of the XXZ spin 1/2 chain of anisotropy –=–cos((p/p)). We use the Takahashi-Suzuki method to express the allowed values of r (and s) in terms of the continued fraction decomposition of {p/p} (and p/p), where {x} stands for the fractional part of x. These values are, in fact, the dimensions of the Hermitian irreducible representations of SU q- (2) (and SU q+ (2)) with q–=exp(i{p/p}) (and q+=exp(i(p/p))). We also establish the duality relation M(p,p) M(p–p,p) and discuss the action of the Andrews-Bailey transformation in the space of minimal models. The finite-size scaling prediction about logarithmic corrections in the free energy arising from corners in the geometry of the system is tested on the three-dimensional mean spherical model. The general case of boundary conditions which are periodic ind 0 dimensions and free or fixed in the remaining 3 –d dimensions is considered. Logarithmic and double-logarithmic size corrections stemming from corners, edges, and surfaces are obtained.  相似文献

We present a simple and accurate method for characteristic analysis of metal-clad dielectric waveguides and absorptive waveguides. The real partN of the complex modal indexN=N + iN is obtained by solving the corresponding real eigenvalue equation, and the imaginary partN is given by (n/), where= + i is the complex dielectric constant of the absorptive layer, and N/ is obtained by numerical differentiation. The method is straightforward, and the cumbersome solution of complex transcendental equations is completely eliminated. Results for simple structures are in good agreement with those obtained by exact analysis.  相似文献

The spin relations of neutrino-nucleon interaction with the formation of a muonv(V) N N are investigated within the framework of the two-component and four-component theories of two neutrinos under the assumption of a point neutrino. The difference between the predictions of the two theories is identified. It is shown that the four-component theory of two neutrinos, unlike the two-component theory, accommodates the V + A variant of interaction between the muon current (v) and the barion current.The authors are grateful to Prof. A. Investigation of aging Cu-1.5% Be-2% Ag and Cu-1% Be-4% Ag alloys was carried out in this study by the methods of x-ray analysis of monocrystals, and electron microscopy. In the aging process at 218, 300, and 450C, laminar zones of Guinier-Preston, enriched with beryllium and silver atoms were formed. Entry of silver into the zones widens the upper temperature interval of the zone stage to 450C. With the increase of annealing time the metastable-phase was precipitated. The crystals of -phase are precipitated with orientation in the direction (100) in consequence of interactions of the fields of elastic stresses occurring around -precipitations, and periodic structure is formed in the alloy. A detailed analysis is reported examining the local magnetic susceptibility (r), in relation to the correlation functionG(R) and correlation length , of a spherical model ferromagnet confined to geometry =L dd × d ( d 2,d>2) under a continuous set oftwisted boundary conditions. The twist parameter in this problem may be interpreted as a measure of the geometry-dependent doping level of interfacial impurities (or antiferromagnetic seams) in theextended system at various temperatures. For j 0, jd-d, no seams are present except at infinity, whereas if j = 1/2, impurity saturation occurs. For 0 < j < 1/2 the physical domain phys =D dd × d (D>L), defining the region between seams containing the origin, depends on temperature above a certain threshold (T>T 0). Below that temperature (T>T 0), seams are frozen at the same position (DL/2,d-d'=1), revealing a smoothly varying largescale structural phase transition.  相似文献

We consider a sequence of finite volume Z d ,d2, reversible stochastic Ising models in the low temperature regime and having invariant measures satisfying free boundary conditions. We show that associated with the models are random hitting times whose expectations, regarded as a function of , grow exponentially in ||( d-1)/d ; moreover, the mass gaps for the models shrink exponentially fast in ||( d-1)/d . A geometrical lemma is employed in the analysis which states that if a Peierls' contour is sufficiently small relative to the faces of , then the fraction of the contour tangent to the faces is less than a constant smaller than one.  相似文献

The mean spherical model with an arbitrary interaction potential, the Fourier transform of which has a long-wavelength exponent , 0<2, is considered under periodic boundary conditions and fully finite geometry ind dimensions, when <d<2. A new form of the finite-size scaling equation for the spherical field in the critical region is derived, which relates the temperature shift to Madelung-type lattice constants.
