Flow along a corner was investigated at large Reynolds numbers in, for example, [1–3]. The present author [4] considered flow in the neighborhood of a corner formed by the intersection of a plane and a concave cylindrical surface, the main attention being devoted to the formation of the three-dimensional boundary layer on the plane near the corner. It was shown that the curvature of one of the intersecting surfaces changes the flow pattern qualitatively. In the present paper, we report an investigation of the formation of the flow on a concave cylindrical surface near such a corner and consider how the flow is rearranged in the neighborhood of a corner in, for example, a channel of rectangular cross section that has an initial straight section and then a bend with a discontinuity of the curvature of the line of intersection of the concave and flat sides of the channel. The results are given of some experimental investigations of flow near the line of intersection of a flat wall and a curved (concave and convex) wall at a bend in a rectangular channel.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 64–68, January–February, 1983.I thank G. The problem of linear stability of a non-Newtonian fluid film flowing down a vertical plane under the action of gravity is considered. The linear stability of steady-state flow with a plane free boundary and the nonlinear waves that arise if this flow is unstable are investigated. The results obtained for two rheological models, the power-law and Eyring fluids, are compared.  相似文献

In studies devoted to the theoretical and experimental investigation of longitudinal flow of a viscous fluid past corner regions, a corner formed by the intersection of two planes is usually considered [1–3]. In contrast, the present paper is concerned with the flow in the neighborhood of the line of intersection of a plane and a concave cylindrical surface (see Fig. 1). The asymptotic behavior of the Navier-Stokes equations at large Re is investigated for such a flow. Estimates are obtained for the velocity and characteristic scales of the flow. It is shown that curvature of one of the surfaces qualitatively changes the pattern of the longitudinal flow of a viscous fluid past a corner. The development of a three-dimensional boundary layer on a plane in the domain of influence of a concave cylindrical surface is considered.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 160–165, March–April, 1981.  相似文献

In the solution of plane problems of filtration theory it is important to study the behavior of the solution near the singular points of the boundary of the flow region (corner points, points of boundary-condition change, and so on) and at infinity (see, for example, [1]). In the present study, this analysis is made for nonlinear filtration problems.Just as in the analogous problems of gasdynamics [2, 3] and nonlinear elasticity theory [4], to find the singular solutions we make the transformation to the filtration velocity hodograph plane. Examples relating basically to filtration with the limiting gradient are presented. The authors wish to thank I. I. Eremlna, T. N. Ericheva, and T. N. Ivanova for assistance in the calculations.  相似文献

A method is developed for calculating the characteristics of a laminar boundary layer near a body contour corner point, in the vicinity of which the outer supersonic stream passes through a rarefaction flow. In the study we use the asymptotic solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in the region with large longitudinal gradients of the flow functions for large values of the Reynolds number, the general form of which was used in [1].The pressure, heat flux, and friction distributions along the body surface are obtained. For small pressure differentials near the corner the solution of the corresponding equations for small disturbances is obtained in analytic form. The conventional method for studying viscous gas flow near body surfaces for large values of the Reynolds number is the use of the Prandtl boundary layer theory. Far from the body the asymptotic solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in the first approximation reduces to the solution of the Euler equations, while near the body it reduces to the solution of the Prandtl boundary layer equations. The characteristic feature of the boundary layer region is the small variation of the flow functions in the longitudinal direction in comparison with their variation in the transverse direction. However, in many cases this condition is violated. The necessity arises for constructing additional asymptotic expansions for the region in which the longitudinal and transverse variations of the flow functions are quantities of the same order. The general method for constructing asymptotic solutions for such flows with the use of the known method of outer and inner expansions is presented in [1].In the following we consider the flow in a laminar boundary layer for the case of a viscous supersonic gas stream in the vicinity of a body corner point. Behind the corner the flow separates from the body surface and flows around a stagnant zone, in which the pressure differs by a specified amount from the pressure in the undisturbed flow ahead of the point of separation. A pressure (rarefaction) disturbance propagates in the subsonic portion of the boundary layer upstream for a distance which in order of magnitude is equal to several boundary layer thicknesses. In the disturbed region of the boundary layer the longitudinal and transverse pressure and velocity disturbances are quantities of the same order. In this study we construct additional asymptotic expansions in the first approximation and calculate the distributions of the pressure, friction stress, and thermal flux along the body surface.  相似文献

2D particle image velocimetry was used to study the three-dimensionality of the shock-boundary layer interaction generated by a small 20° compression ramp in a low aspect ratio continuously operated wind tunnel. High-resolution data were taken in four streamwise-wallnormal planes: three planes located in the sidewall boundary layer and one near the tunnel centerline. The incoming boundary layer was found to show three-dimensionality, with significant overshoot in the velocity profiles observed near the sidewall. The size of the wedge influenced the interaction, which was weaker than that observed in the case of a large compression wedge. The flow turning angle was ≈8° near the tunnel centerline and changed significantly across the span. Measurements behind the compression wedge in the centerline plane showed that both velocity and turbulence properties were nearly fully recovered ≈14δ behind the compression corner. The shock angle varied with spanwise position, and a multi-shock structure was observed in the sidewall planes. The size of the interaction decreased in the sidewall boundary layer. Non-monotonic variations in both velocity and turbulence profiles across the sidewall planes suggest the presence of significant spanwise flows, possibly corner vortices.  相似文献

The solution of the problem of fluid flow inside a cone with a small vertex angle is obtained in closed form. The conditions of occurrence of singular separation are considered within the framework of conical flow theory. A class of conical flows in which the vorticity is transported along streamlines of the potential velocity component is detected.Quasi-conical incompressible fluid flow, i.~e. a flow inside and outside an axisymmetric body with power-law generators is defined by analogy with supersonic compressible fluid flow. The conditions under which the effect of vorticity and swirling is significant are found as a result of an inspection analysis. An approximate solution of the problem of fluid flow inside a zero corner is found.A coordinate expansion representing a plane analog of conical flow is constructed in the neighborhood of the separation point of a creeping flow on a smooth surface.  相似文献

A new similarity transformation has been devised for extensive studies of accelerating non-Newtonian film flow. The partial differential equations governing the hydrodynamics of the flow of a power-law fluid down along an inclined plane surface are transformed into a set of two ordinary differential equations by means of the dimensionless velocity component approach. Although the analysis is applicable for any angle of inclination (0<π/2), the resulting one-parameter problem involves only the power-law index n. Nevertheless, physically essential quantities, like the velocity components and the skin-friction coefficient, do depend on and relevant relationships are deduced between the vertical and inclined cases. Accurate numerical similarity solutions are provided for n in the range from 0.1 to 2.0. The present method enables solutions to be obtained also for highly pseudo-plastic films, i.e. for n below 0.5. The mass flow rate entrained into the momentum boundary layer from the inviscid freestream is expressed in terms of a dimensionless mass flux parameter Φ, which depends on the dimensionless boundary layer thickness and the velocity components at the edge of the viscous boundary layer. Φ, which is thus an integral part of the similarity solution, turns out to decrease monotonically with n. This parameter is of particular relevance in the determination of the streamwise position at which the entire freestream has been entrained and viscous stresses prevail all the way to the free surface of the film. A short-cut method to facilitate rapid and yet accurate estimates of the mass flux parameter is developed to this end.  相似文献

The flow in the exit plane and on the suction surface of an annular turbine cascade was examined experimentally for conditions of inlet boundary layer skewing similar to that found in a real turbine and for the collateral inlet as found in most cascade tests. Skewing was introduced by rotating the nose cone ahead of the cascade. At the cascade exit, the loss distribution pattern, as measured by a 3 hole cobra probe, showed that the corner vortex at the hub is displaced radially to almost a mid-span position by the skewed inlet boundary layer. This movement was attributed to the stronger endwall crossflows being radially directed as they strike and rise up onto the suction surface. The radial displacement and endwall crossflow effect was also seen in surface flow visualization studies. The overall cascade loss coefficient and deviation angle are significantly reduced by skewing. Traverses taken on the suction surface confirmed the separated flow effects seen in the flow visualization pictures. The general conclusion is that skewing plays a significant role in determining the flow phenomena in turbine cascades and that these effects should be borne in mind when interpreting the results taken from plane cascades.  相似文献

Theoretical and numerical analysis is performed for an inviscid axisymmetric vortical bathtub-type flow. The level of vorticity is kept high so that the image of the flow on the radial–axial plane (rz plane)is not potential. The most significant findings are: (1) the region of validity of the strong vortex approximation is separated from the drain by a buffer region, (2) the power-law asymptote of the stream function, specified by Δψ∼r 4/3Δz, appears near the axis when vorticity in the flow is sufficiently strong and (3) the local Rossby number in the region of the power-law is not very sensitive to the changes of the initial vorticity level in the flow and the global Rossby number. The two cases of stationary Ekman boundary layer flow of an incompressible fluid near i) a plane boundary and ii) a free surface with constant shear are considered. It is proven that a stable secondary flow in the form of traveling waves bifurcates from the stationary flow at a certain Reynolds number, and that the stationary flow is unstable above this number. The values of the critical Reynolds number and of the numbers that characterize the traveling wave are computed and compared with experimental values.  相似文献

Three simple two-dimensional streaming motions of a mixture of solid particles with a continuous carrier fluid, or gas, in the presence of the gravity field are considered. These include flow of a mixture over an infinite stationary rigid plane perpendicular to the direction of the gravity field, flow near an oscillating rigid plane and flow in a mixture induced by a suddenly accelerated plane. The nature of the boundary conditions at the interface between a layer of sediment settling on the rigid boundary and the mixture above it suggests an introduction of the independent variables that enable simple analytical expressions for the solutions of the first two flows and a numerical solution by means of a Laplace transform in the last case.  相似文献

Hybrid LES-RANS: An approach to make LES applicable at high Reynolds number   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The main bottle neck for using large eddy simulations (LES) at high Reynolds number is the requirement of very fine meshes near walls. Hybrid LES-Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) was invented to get rid of this limitation. In this method, unsteady RANS (URANS) is used near walls and away from walls LES is used. The matching between URANS and LES takes place in the inner log-region. In the present paper, a method to improve standard LES-RANS is evaluated. The improvement consists of adding instantaneous turbulent fluctuations (forcing conditions) at the matching plane in order to provide the equations in the LES region with relevant turbulent structures. The fluctuations are taken from a DNS of a generic boundary layer. Simulations of fully developed channel flow and plane asymmetric diffuser flow are presented. Hybrid LES-RANS is used both with and without forcing conditions.  相似文献

The steady flow of a viscous incompressible fluid at high Reynolds numbers near a body of revolution of finite length whose radius coincides in order of magnitude with the thickness of the boundary layer is considered. The structure of the boundary layer in the neighborhood of the rear end of the body is investigated on the assumption that it has a power-law shape with values of the exponent n 1/2. A solution is also obtained for the near wake.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 10–18, September–October, 1990.  相似文献

Viscous fluid flow near the line of intersection of curved surfaces at large Re numbers is a topic of considerable interest. The intersection of two fixed planes has been the subject of many experimental and theoretical studies. This case is characterized by very small transverse velocities and by the fact that the corner does not affect the remoter parts of the flow [1–4]. The flows near intersecting curved surfaces have received very little attention, except for the particular case of the intersection of a concave cylindrical surface and a plane in an incompressible fluid flow. With reference to this example it has been shown that the curvature qualitatively affects the flow pattern not only near the line of intersection but also at a distance from it [5]. The present article is concerned with viscous fluid flow at Re1 near the line of intersection of arbitrary, relatively smooth surfaces in the presence of external body forces and, moreover, in the noninertial coordinate system moving with the exposed surfaces (for example, rotating surfaces). On the basis of an analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations and the energy equation as Re sufficient conditions are obtained for the development of intense transverse flows near the line of intersection, which also lead to a qualitative change in the flow pattern; it is shown that depending on the external forces and the geometric parameters of the surfaces various types of flow are possible; the relations determining the occurrence of a particular type of flow and the equations and necessary boundary conditions describing some of these flows are obtained.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 16–21, May–June, 1985.  相似文献

Numerical results are presented for an oscillating viscous flow past a square cylinder with square and rounded corners and a diamond cylinder with square corners at Keulegan–Carpenter numbers up to 5. This unsteady flow problem is formulated by the two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations in vorticity and stream-function form on body-fitted coordinates and solved by a finite-difference method. Second-order Adams-Bashforth and central-difference schemes are used to discretize the vorticity transport equation while a third-order upwinding scheme is incorporated to represent the nonlinear convective terms. Since the vorticity distribution has a mathematical singularity at a sharp corner and since the force coefficients are found in experiments to be sensitive to the corner radius of rectangular cylinders, a grid-generation technique is applied to provide an efficient mesh system for this complex flow. Local grid concentration near the sharp corners, instead of any artificial treatment of the sharp corners being introduced, is used in order to obtain high numerical resolution. The elliptic partial differential equation for stream function and vorticity in the transformed plane is solved by a multigrid iteration method. For an oscillating flow past a rectangular cylinder, vortex detachment occurs at irregular high frequency modes at KC numbers larger than 3 for a square cylinder, larger than 1 for a diamond cylinder and larger than 3 for a square cylinder with rounded corners. The calculated drag and inertia coefficients are in very good agreement with the experimental data. The calculated vortex patterns are used to explain some of the force coefficient behavior.  相似文献

We investigate the magnetohydrodynamic flow (MHD) on the upper, half of a non-conducting plane for the case when the flow is driven by the current produced by an electrode placed in the middle of the plane. The applied magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane, the flow is laminar, uniform, steady and incompressible. An analytical solution has been developed for the velocity field and the induced magnetic field by reducing the problem to the solution of a Fredholm's integral equation of the second kind, which has been solved numerically. Infinite integrals occurring in the kernel of the integral equation and in the velocity and magnetic field were approximated for large Hartmann numbers by using Bessel functions. As the Hartmann number M increases, boundary layers are formed near the non-conducting boundaries and a parabolic boundary layer is developed in the interface region. Some graphs are given to show examples of this behaviour.  相似文献
