We show that a continuous additive positively homogeneous map from a closed not necessarily proper cone in a Banach space onto a Banach space is an open map precisely when it is surjective. This generalization of the usual Open Mapping Theorem for Banach spaces is then combined with Michael's Selection Theorem to yield the existence of a continuous bounded positively homogeneous right inverse of such a surjective map; a strong version of the usual Open Mapping Theorem is then a special case. As another consequence, an improved version of the analogue of Andô's Theorem for an ordered Banach space is obtained for a Banach space that is, more generally than in Andô's Theorem, a sum of possibly uncountably many closed not necessarily proper cones. Applications are given for a (pre)-ordered Banach space and for various spaces of continuous functions taking values in such a Banach space or, more generally, taking values in an arbitrary Banach space that is a finite sum of closed not necessarily proper cones.  相似文献

设E是具有一致正规结构的实Banach空间,其范数是一致Gateaux可微的.设A是m-增生映象,使得C=■是E的凸子集,数列{α_n)■[0,1],{r_n}■ (0,∞),在适当的条件下,则由(1.2)式定义的迭代序列{x_n}强收敛于A~(-1)(0)中的点.其次证明了:设E是一致凸Banach空间,其范数是Frechet可微的.设数列{α_n},{β_n)■(0,1),{r_n}■(0,∞),满足适当的条件.如果A~(-1)(0)∩B~(-1)(0)≠φ,则由(3.20)式定义的序列{x_n}弱收敛于A~(-1)(0)∩B~(-1)(0)中的点.其结果推广和改进了Kamimura,Takahashi(2000)的定理2及Xu H.K.(2006)的定理4.1,定理4.2和定理4.3:(i)Kamimura,Takahashi(2000)定理2中的假设"自反Banach空间E的每个有界闭凸子集对非扩张自映象有不动点性质"被去掉;(ii)Xu H.K.(2006)的假设"E是具有弱连续对偶映象J_φ的自反Banach空间",被本文的假设"E是具有一致正规结构且其范数是一致Gateaux可微的Banach空间"所取代.从而补充了Xu H.K.(2006)未包含的另外一些Banach空间.同时还证明了逼近两个m-增生映象的公共零点,其结果也推广和改进了Mainge的相应结果.  相似文献

In this work we study maps of a Banach space near a fixed point. We show the existence and uniqueness of a class of local invariant sub-manifolds of the stable manifold which correspond to a spectral subspace satisfying a finite non-resonance condition of order and an overriding condition of order (condition (3) of Theorem 1). We study the dependence of these invariant manifolds on a parameter that lies in a Banach space. We also show that a local weak-stable manifold that satisfies these two conditions is unique in the class of maps. The uniqueness is due to the fact that our method does not require a cut-off function. An infinite dimensional Banach space does not always admit smooth cut-off functions. Abstract

This paper presents a number of results concerning sheaves on a topological space, with values in the category BAN of Banach spaces, over K = R or Ø, and linear contractions. After showing that these sheaves are reflective in the corresponding category of presheaves (Proposition 1) and that the resulting reflection is stalk preserving (Proposition 2), we concentrate on the approximation sheaves, these being BAN-sheaves satisfying a strong patching condition originally due to Auspitz [1]. The interest in these particular sheaves lies in the fact that they are precisely the BAN-sheaves arising as sheaves of continuous sections of the appropriate kind of Banach fibre spaces [1] and thus central to the representation of Banach spaces by continuous sections. Here, we show that the approximation sheaves on any space are characterized as the BAN-presheaves injective relative to certain maps (Proposition 3) and that, for paracompact spaces X, they are exactly those BAN-sheaves S such that each SU, U open in X, admits a suitable C*U-module structure (Proposition 4). Further, we consider the adjointness between the approximation sheaves on a space X and the Banach modules over C*X (Proposition 5) and investigate its special properties for X being Tychonoff (Proposition 6) and Boolean (Proposition 7). We conclude with some observations regarding the failure of the analogues of Swan's Theorem for vector bundles and the Hahn-Banach Theorem in the present context, and some positive facts concerning injectivity for approximation sheaves on Tychonoff spaces.  相似文献

We show that the centraliser of the space of n-fold symmetric injective tensors, n≥2, on a real Banach space is trivial. With a geometric condition on the set of extreme points of its dual, the space of integral polynomials we obtain the same result for complex Banach spaces. We give some applications of this results to centralisers of spaces of homogeneous polynomials and complex Banach spaces. In addition, we derive a Banach-Stone Theorem for spaces of vector-valued approximable polynomials. Using Cesari's approach, we prove the existence of optimal controls for a class of systems governed by differential inclusions on a Banach space having the Radon-Nikodym property. Theorem 3.1 gives the existence result for optimal relaxed controls under fairly general assumptions on the system and the admissible controls. This result depends on a fundamental result (Theorem 2.1) that proves the existence of mild solutions of differential inclusions on a Banach space, which has also independent interest. Further, the preparatory results, such as Lemma 3.1 and Lemma 3.2, are also useful in the study of time-optimal and terminal control problems.For illustration of the results, we present two examples, one on distributed controls for a class of systems governed by nonlinear parabolic equations and the other on boundary controls with discontinuous boundary operator.This work is supported in part by the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada under Grant No. 7109.  相似文献

In this note, we present the necessary conditions of optimality for time-optimal controls for a class of distributed-boundary control problems in general Banach spaces using the semigroup theory. Theorem 3.1 is based on a recent general maximum principle due to Barbu (Ref. 1), which was proved for strictly convex reflexive Banach spaces. In this paper we first discuss the relations between some G-M-type spaces, and the previous eight kinds of G-M-type Banach spaces are merged into four different kinds. Then we build a Generalized Operator Extension Theorem, and introduce the concept of complete minimal sequences. Some sufficient and necessary conditions under which a Banach space is a hereditarily indecomposable space are given. An expository account is given of T. Wolff’s recent elementary proof of Carleson’s Corona Theorem (1962). The Corona Theorem answers affirmatively a question raised by S. Kakatani (1957) as to whether the open unit disc in the complex plane is dense in the maximal ideal space of the Banach algebra of bounded analytic functions thereon. A new condition for mappings, called condition (C), which is more general than nonexpansiveness, was recently introduced by Suzuki [T. Suzuki, Fixed point theorems and convergence theorems for some generalized nonexpansive mappings, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 340 (2008) 1088-1095]. Following the idea of Kirk and Massa Theorem in [W.A. Kirk, S. Massa, Remarks on asymptotic and Chebyshev centers, Houston J. Math. 16 (1990) 364-375], we prove a fixed point theorem for mappings with condition (C) on a Banach space such that its asymptotic center in a bounded closed and convex subset of each bounded sequence is nonempty and compact. This covers a result obtained by Suzuki [T. Suzuki, Fixed point theorems and convergence theorems for some generalized nonexpansive mappings, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 340 (2008) 1088-1095]. We also present fixed point theorems for this class of mappings defined on weakly compact convex subsets of Banach spaces satisfying property (D). Consequently, we extend the results in [T. Suzuki, Fixed point theorems and convergence theorems for some generalized nonexpansive mappings, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 340 (2008) 1088-1095] to many other Banach spaces.  相似文献

Abstract

The classical Vitali-Hahn-Saks-Nikodym Theorem [5, Thm. I.4.8] gives a limit criterion for when a sequence of strongly additive vector measures on a σ-field of sets having their range in a Banach space can be expected to be uniformly strongly additive. In [16, Cor. 8], Saeki proved that the limit condition on the sequence of vector measures could be substantially weakened as long as the Banach space in play is “good enough”. Saeki's result was based upon his work on a class of set functions too large to have Rosenthal's Lemma at his disposal. In Section 2, we prove Saeki's result with Rosenthal's Lemma at the basis of our work and then augment our characterization of Banach spaces enjoying Saeki's result in [1] with another natural equivalent condition. In Section 3 we extend Saeki's result to Boolean algebras having the Subsequential Interpolation property.  相似文献

The Hahn–Banach Theorem for partially ordered totally convex modules [3] and a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an extension of a morphism from a submodule C 0 of a partially ordered totally convex module C (with the ordered unit ball of the reals as codomain) to C, are proved. Moreover, the categories of partially ordered positively convex and superconvex modules are introduced and for both categories the Hahn–Banach Theorem is proved.  相似文献
