We study the CP-violation effects from two types of neutrino mass matrices with (i) \((M_\nu )_{ee}=0\), and (ii) \((M_\nu )_{ee}=(M_\nu )_{e\mu }=0\), which can be realized by the high-dimensional lepton number violating operators \(\bar{\ell }_R^c\gamma ^\mu L_L (D_\mu \Phi )\Phi ^2\) and \(\bar{\ell }_R^c l_R (D_\mu {\Phi })^2\Phi ^2\), respectively. In (i), the neutrino mass spectrum is in the normal ordering with the lightest neutrino mass within the range \(0.002\,\mathrm{eV}\lesssim m_0\lesssim 0.007\,\mathrm{eV}\). Furthermore, for a given value of \(m_0\), there are two solutions for the two Majorana phases \(\alpha _{21}\) and \(\alpha _{31}\), whereas the Dirac phase \(\delta \) is arbitrary. For (ii), the parameters of \(m_0\), \(\delta \), \(\alpha _{21}\), and \(\alpha _{31}\) can be completely determined. We calculate the CP-violating asymmetries in neutrino–antineutrino oscillations for both mass textures of (i) and (ii), which are closely related to the CP-violating Majorana phases.  相似文献

We determine the sensitivity to neutrino oscillation parameters from a study of atmospheric neutrinos in a magnetised detector such as the ICAL at the proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory. In such a detector, which can separately count \(\nu _\mu \) and \(\overline{\nu }_\mu \)-induced events, the relatively smaller (about 5%) uncertainties on the neutrino–antineutrino flux ratios translate to a constraint in the \(\chi ^2\) analysis that results in a significant improvement in the precision with which neutrino oscillation parameters such as \(\sin ^2\theta _{23}\) can be determined. Such an effect is unique to all magnetisable detectors and constitutes a great advantage in determining neutrino oscillation parameters using such detectors. Such a study has been performed for the first time here. Along with an increase in the kinematic range compared to earlier analyses, this results in sensitivities to oscillation parameters in the 2–3 sector that are comparable to or better than those from accelerator experiments where the fluxes are significantly higher. For example, the \(1\sigma \) precisions on \(\sin ^2\theta _{23}\) and \(|\Delta {m^2_{32(31)}}|\) achievable for 500 kton year exposure of ICAL are \({\sim }9\) and \({\sim }2.5\)%, respectively, for both normal and inverted hierarchies. The mass hierarchy sensitivity achievable with this combination when the true hierarchy is normal (inverted) for the same exposure is \(\Delta \chi ^2\approx 8.5\) (\(\Delta \chi ^2\approx 9.5\)).  相似文献

Contrary to the reaction \( \bar{{p}}\) p \( \rightarrow\) e + e - with a high-momentum incident antiproton on a free target proton at rest, in which the invariant mass M of the e + e - pair is necessarily much larger than the \( \bar{{p}}\) p mass 2m , in the reaction \( \bar{{p}}\) d \( \rightarrow\) e + e - n the value of M can take values near or below the \( \bar{{p}}\) p mass. In the antiproton-deuteron electromagnetic annihilation, this allows to access the proton electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region of q2 near the \( \bar{{p}}\) p threshold. We estimate the cross-section \(d\sigma _{\bar pd \to e^ + e^ - n} /d\mathcal{M}\) for an antiproton beam momentum of 1.5GeV/c. We find that near the \( \bar{{p}}\) p threshold this cross-section is about 1pb/MeV. The case of heavy-nuclei target is also discussed. Elements of experimental feasibility are presented for the process \( \bar{{p}}\) d \( \rightarrow\) e + e - n in the context of the \( \overline{{{\rm P}}}\) ANDA project.  相似文献

We study the contributions of nonstandard neutrino interactions (NSI) to the rare decays of pseudoscalar mesons involving neutrinos in the final state \({B^0} \to {\pi ^0}\bar vv\), \(B_c^ - \to {D^ - }\bar vv\) and \(\bar B_s^0 \to {\bar K^0}\bar vv\), It is pointed that dominant contribution comes from the interference between standard model and nonstandard interaction We predict limits on NSIs free parameter ε uL ττ and compare them with experimental data. We further compare our results with perturbative QCD (pQCD) and QCD results for these reactions.  相似文献

Consider nearest-neighbor oriented percolation in \(d+1\) space–time dimensions. Let \(\rho ,\eta ,\nu \) be the critical exponents for the survival probability up to time t, the expected number of vertices at time t connected from the space–time origin, and the gyration radius of those vertices, respectively. We prove that the hyperscaling inequality \(d\nu \ge \eta +2\rho \), which holds for all \(d\ge 1\) and is a strict inequality above the upper-critical dimension 4, becomes an equality for \(d=1\), i.e., \(\nu =\eta +2\rho \), provided existence of at least two among \(\rho ,\eta ,\nu \). The key to the proof is the recent result on the critical box-crossing property by Duminil-Copin et al. [6].  相似文献

We investigate several properties of a translocating homopolymer through a thin pore driven by an external field present inside the pore only using Langevin Dynamics (LD) simulations in three dimensions (3D). Motivated by several recent theoretical and numerical studies that are apparently at odds with each other, we estimate the exponents describing the scaling with chain length (Nof the average translocation time \(\ensuremath \langle\tau\rangle\) , the average velocity of the center of mass \(\ensuremath \langle v_{{\rm CM}}\rangle\) , and the effective radius of gyration \(\ensuremath \langle {R}_g\rangle\) during the translocation process defined as \(\ensuremath \langle\tau\rangle \sim N^{\alpha}\) , \(\ensuremath \langle v_{{\rm CM}} \rangle \sim N^{-\delta}\) , and \(\ensuremath {R}_g \sim N^{\bar{\nu}}\) respectively, and the exponent of the translocation coordinate (s -coordinate) as a function of the translocation time \(\ensuremath \langle s^2(t)\rangle\sim t^{\beta}\) . We find \(\ensuremath \alpha=1.36 \pm 0.01\) , \(\ensuremath \beta=1.60 \pm 0.01\) for \(\ensuremath \langle s^2(t)\rangle\sim \tau^{\beta}\) and \(\ensuremath \bar{\beta}=1.44 \pm 0.02\) for \(\ensuremath \langle\Delta s^2(t)\rangle\sim\tau^{\bar{\beta}}\) , \(\ensuremath \delta=0.81 \pm 0.04\) , and \(\ensuremath \bar{\nu}\simeq\nu=0.59 \pm 0.01\) , where \( \nu\) is the equilibrium Flory exponent in 3D. Therefore, we find that \(\ensuremath \langle\tau\rangle\sim N^{1.36}\) is consistent with the estimate of \(\ensuremath \langle\tau\rangle\sim\langle R_g \rangle/\langle v_{{\rm CM}} \rangle\) . However, as observed previously in Monte Carlo (MC) calculations by Kantor and Kardar (Y. Kantor, M. Kardar, Phys. Rev. E 69, 021806 (2004)) we also find the exponent α = 1.36 ± 0.01 < 1 + ν. Further, we find that the parallel and perpendicular components of the gyration radii, where one considers the “cis” and “trans” parts of the chain separately, exhibit distinct out-of-equilibrium effects. We also discuss the dependence of the effective exponents on the pore geometry for the range of N studied here.  相似文献

We consider a general two-component plasma of classical pointlike charges \(+e\) (e is say the elementary charge) and \(-Z e\) (valency \(Z=1,2,\ldots \)), living on the surface of a sphere of radius R. The system is in thermal equilibrium at the inverse temperature \(\beta \), in the stability region against collapse of oppositely charged particle pairs \(\beta e^2 < 2/Z\). We study the effect of the system excess charge Qe on the finite-size expansion of the (dimensionless) grand potential \(\beta \varOmega \). By combining the stereographic projection of the sphere onto an infinite plane, the linear response theory and the planar results for the second moments of the species density correlation functions we show that for any \(\beta e^2 < 2/Z\) the large-R expansion of the grand potential is of the form \(\beta \varOmega \sim A_V R^2 + \left[ \chi /6 - \beta (Qe)^2/2\right] \ln R\), where \(A_V\) is the non-universal coefficient of the volume (bulk) part and the Euler number of the sphere \(\chi =2\). The same formula, containing also a non-universal surface term proportional to R, was obtained previously for the disc domain (\(\chi =1\)), in the case of the symmetric \((Z=1)\) two-component plasma at the collapse point \(\beta e^2=2\) and the jellium model \((Z\rightarrow 0)\) of identical e-charges in a fixed neutralizing background charge density at any coupling \(\beta e^2\) being an even integer. Our result thus indicates that the prefactor to the logarithmic finite-size expansion does not depend on the composition of the Coulomb fluid and its non-universal part \(-\beta (Qe)^2/2\) is independent of the geometry of the confining domain.  相似文献

The K--induced production of \( \Lambda\)(1405) is investigated in K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) n reactions based on coupled-channels chiral dynamics, in order to discuss the resonance position of the \( \Lambda\)(1405) in the \( \bar{{K}}\) N channel. We find that the K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \Lambda\)(1405)n process favors the production of \( \Lambda\)(1405) initiated by the \( \bar{{K}}\) N channel. The present approach indicates that the \( \Lambda\)(1405) -resonance position is 1420MeV rather than 1405MeV in the \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) invariant-mass spectra of K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) n reactions. This is consistent with an observed spectrum of the K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi^{{+}}_{}\) \( \Sigma^{{-}}_{}\) n with 686-844MeV/c incident K- by bubble chamber experiments done in the 70s. Our model also reproduces the measured \( \Lambda\)(1405) production cross-section.  相似文献

We investigate the decays of \(\bar{B}^0_s\), \(\bar{B}^0\) and \(B^-\) into \(\eta _c\) plus a scalar or vector meson in a theoretical framework by taking into account the dominant process for the weak decay of \(\bar{B}\) meson into \(\eta _c\) and a \(q\bar{q}\) pair. After hadronization of this \(q\bar{q}\) component into pairs of pseudoscalar mesons we obtain certain weights for the pseudoscalar meson-pseudoscalar meson components. In addition, the \(\bar{B}^0\) and \(\bar{B}^0_s\) decays into \(\eta _c\) and \(\rho ^0\), \(K^*\) are evaluated and compared to the \(\eta _c\) and \(\phi \) production. The calculation is based on the postulation that the scalar mesons \(f_0(500)\), \(f_0(980)\) and \(a_0(980)\) are dynamically generated states from the pseudoscalar meson-pseudoscalar meson interactions in S-wave. Up to a global normalization factor, the \(\pi \pi \), \(K \bar{K}\) and \(\pi \eta \) invariant mass distributions for the decays of \(\bar{B}^0_s \rightarrow \eta _c \pi ^+ \pi ^-\), \(\bar{B}^0_s \rightarrow \eta _c K^+ K^-\), \(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow \eta _c \pi ^+ \pi ^-\), \(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow \eta _c K^+ K^-\), \(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow \eta _c \pi ^0 \eta \), \(B^- \rightarrow \eta _c K^0 K^-\) and \(B^- \rightarrow \eta _c \pi ^- \eta \) are predicted. Comparison is made with the limited experimental information available and other theoretical calcualtions. Further comparison of these results with coming LHCb measurements will be very valuable to make progress in our understanding of the nature of the low lying scalar mesons, \(f_0(500), f_0(980)\) and \(a_0(980)\).  相似文献

Intense pulsed proton beams of ~ 1 GeV impinging on high-Z targets are intense sources of νμ from the (τ=26 ns) decay of π+, and \(\bar \nu _\mu \) and νe from the stopped μ+ decays. A pulse structure, narrow in time, allows the separation of reactions due to νμ from those from reactions involving \(\bar \nu _\mu\) and νe. The energy spectra are in the energy range of interest to nuclear astrophysics. A number of possible experiments relevant to solar neutrinos, supernovae collapse, weak interactions in nuclei, and intrinsic properties of neutrinos are discussed.  相似文献

We consider measurements of exclusive rare semi-tauonic b-hadron decays, mediated by the \(b \rightarrow s \tau ^+ \tau ^-\) transition, at a future high-energy circular electron–positron collider (FCC-ee). We argue that the high boosts of b-hadrons originating from on-shell Z boson decays allow for a full reconstruction of the decay kinematics in hadronic \(\tau \) decay modes (up to discrete ambiguities). This, together with the potentially large statistics of \(Z\rightarrow b\bar{b}\), opens the door for the experimental determination of \(\tau \) polarizations in these rare b-hadron decays. In the light of the current experimental situation on lepton flavor universality in rare semileptonic B decays, we discuss the complementary short-distance physics information carried by the \(\tau \) polarizations and suggest suitable theoretically clean observables in the form of single- and double-\(\tau \) polarization asymmetries.  相似文献

The neutrinoless double-beta (\(0\nu 2\beta \)) decay is currently the only feasible process in particle and nuclear physics to probe whether massive neutrinos are the Majorana fermions. If they are of a Majorana nature and have a normal mass ordering, the effective neutrino mass term \(\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}\) of a \(0\nu 2\beta \) decay may suffer significant cancellations among its three components and thus sink into a decline, resulting in a “well” in the three-dimensional graph of \(|\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}|\) against the smallest neutrino mass \(m^{}_1\) and the relevant Majorana phase \(\rho \). We present a new and complete analytical understanding of the fine issues inside such a well, and identify a novel threshold of \(|\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}|\) in terms of the neutrino masses and flavor mixing angles: \(|\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}|^{}_* = m^{}_3 \sin ^2\theta ^{}_{13}\) in connection with \(\tan \theta ^{}_{12} = \sqrt{m^{}_1/m^{}_2}\) and \(\rho =\pi \). This threshold point, which links the local minimum and maximum of \(|\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}|\), can be used to signify observability or sensitivity of the future \(0\nu 2\beta \)-decay experiments. Given current neutrino oscillation data, the possibility of \(|\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}| < |\langle m\rangle ^{}_{ee}|^{}_*\) is found to be very small.  相似文献

Descent equations play an important role in the theory of characteristic classes and find applications in theoretical physics, e.g., in the Chern–Simons field theory and in the theory of anomalies. The second Chern class (the first Pontrjagin class) is defined as \(p= \langle F, F\rangle \) where F is the curvature 2-form and \(\langle \cdot , \cdot \rangle \) is an invariant scalar product on the corresponding Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\). The descent for p gives rise to an element \(\omega =\omega _3+\omega _2+\omega _1+\omega _0\) of mixed degree. The 3-form part \(\omega _3\) is the Chern–Simons form. The 2-form part \(\omega _2\) is known as the Wess–Zumino action in physics. The 1-form component \(\omega _1\) is related to the canonical central extension of the loop group LG. In this paper, we give a new interpretation of the low degree components \(\omega _1\) and \(\omega _0\). Our main tool is the universal differential calculus on free Lie algebras due to Kontsevich. We establish a correspondence between solutions of the first Kashiwara–Vergne equation in Lie theory and universal solutions of the descent equation for the second Chern class p. In more detail, we define a 1-cocycle C which maps automorphisms of the free Lie algebra to one forms. A solution of the Kashiwara–Vergne equation F is mapped to \(\omega _1=C(F)\). Furthermore, the component \(\omega _0\) is related to the associator \(\Phi \) corresponding to F. It is surprising that while F and \(\Phi \) satisfy the highly nonlinear twist and pentagon equations, the elements \(\omega _1\) and \(\omega _0\) solve the linear descent equation.  相似文献

We have performed calculations for the nonleptonic \(\Xi _b^- \rightarrow \pi ^- \ \Xi _c^0 (2790) \left( J=\frac{1}{2}\right) \) and \(\Xi _b^- \rightarrow \pi ^- \ \Xi _c^0 (2815) \left( J=\frac{3}{2}\right) \) decays and the same reactions replacing the \(\pi ^-\) by a \(D_s^-\). At the same time we have also evaluated the semileptonic rates for \(\Xi _b^- \rightarrow \bar{\nu }_l l \ \Xi _c^0 (2790)\) and \(\Xi _b^- \rightarrow \bar{\nu }_l l \ \Xi _c^0 (2815)\). We look at the reactions from the perspective that the \(\Xi _c^0 (2790)\) and \(\Xi _c^0 (2815)\) resonances are dynamically generated from the pseudoscalar–baryon and vector–baryon interactions. We evaluate ratios of the rates of these reactions and make predictions that can be tested in future experiments. We also find that the results are rather sensitive to the coupling of the \(\Xi _c^*\) resonances to the \(D^* \Sigma \) and \(D^* \Lambda \) components.  相似文献

We investigate the way the total mass sum of neutrinos can be constrained from the neutrinoless double beta-decay and cosmological probes with cosmic microwave background (CMBR), large-scale structures including 2dFGRS and SDSS datasets. First we discuss, in brief, the current status of neutrino mass bounds from neutrino beta decays and cosmic constraint within the flat ΛCMD model. In addition, we explore the interacting neutrino dark-energy model, where the evolution of neutrino masses is determined by quintessence scalar field, which is responsible for cosmic acceleration. Assuming the flatness of the Universe, the constraint we can derive from the current observation is \(\sum m_{\nu } < 0.87\) eV at 95% confidence level, which is consistent with \(\sum m_{\nu } < 0.68\) eV in the flat ΛCDM model without Lyman alpha forest data. In the presence of Lyman- α forest data, interacting dark-energy models prefer a weaker bound \(\sum m_{\nu } < 0.43\) eV to \(\sum m_{\nu } < 0.17\) eV (Seljark et al). Finally, we discuss the future prospect of the neutrino mass bound with weak-lensing effects.  相似文献

We present the first attempt to extract \(|V_{cb}|\) from the \(\Lambda _b\rightarrow \Lambda _c^+\ell \bar{\nu }_\ell \) decay without relying on \(|V_{ub}|\) inputs from the B meson decays. Meanwhile, the hadronic \(\Lambda _b\rightarrow \Lambda _c M_{(c)}\) decays with \(M=(\pi ^-,K^-)\) and \(M_c=(D^-,D^-_s)\) measured with high precisions are involved in the extraction. Explicitly, we find that \(|V_{cb}|=(44.6\pm 3.2)\times 10^{-3}\), agreeing with the value of \((42.11\pm 0.74)\times 10^{-3}\) from the inclusive \(B\rightarrow X_c\ell \bar{\nu }_\ell \) decays. Furthermore, based on the most recent ratio of \(|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|\) from the exclusive modes, we obtain \(|V_{ub}|=(4.3\pm 0.4)\times 10^{-3}\), which is close to the value of \((4.49\pm 0.24)\times 10^{-3}\) from the inclusive \(B\rightarrow X_u\ell \bar{\nu }_\ell \) decays. We conclude that our determinations of \(|V_{cb}|\) and \(|V_{ub}|\) favor the corresponding inclusive extractions in the B decays.  相似文献

We calculate the \(\Lambda _c{\bar{\Lambda }}_c\) partial decay width of the excited vector charmonium states around 4.6 GeV with the quark pair creation model. We find that the partial decay width of the \(\Lambda _c{\bar{\Lambda }}_c\) mode can reach up to several MeV for \(\psi (4S,~5S,~6S)\). In contrast, the partial \(\Lambda _c{\bar{\Lambda }}_c\) decay width of the states \(\psi (3D,~4D,~5D)\) is less than one MeV. If the enhancement Y(4630) reported by the Belle Collaboration in \(\Lambda _c{\bar{\Lambda }}_c\) invariant-mass distribution is the same structure as Y(4660), the Y(4660) resonance is most likely to be a S-wave charmonium state.  相似文献

We consider two nonindependent random fields \(\psi \) and \(\phi \) defined on a countable set Z. For instance, \(Z=\mathbb {Z}^d\) or \(Z=\mathbb {Z}^d\times I\), where I denotes a finite set of possible “internal degrees of freedom” such as spin. We prove that, if the cumulants of \(\psi \) and \(\phi \) enjoy a certain decay property, then all joint cumulants between \(\psi \) and \(\phi \) are \(\ell _2\)-summable in the precise sense described in the text. The decay assumption for the cumulants of \(\psi \) and \(\phi \) is a restricted \( \ell _1\) summability condition called \(\ell _1\)-clustering property. One immediate application of the results is given by a stochastic process \(\psi _t(x)\) whose state is \(\ell _1\)-clustering at any time t: then the above estimates can be applied with \(\psi =\psi _t\) and \(\phi =\psi _0\) and we obtain uniform in t estimates for the summability of time-correlations of the field. The above clustering assumption is obviously satisfied by any \(\ell _1\)-clustering stationary state of the process, and our original motivation for the control of the summability of time-correlations comes from a quest for a rigorous control of the Green–Kubo correlation function in such a system. A key role in the proof is played by the properties of non-Gaussian Wick polynomials and their connection to cumulants  相似文献

We investigate the possibility of explaining the enhancement in semileptonic decays of \({\bar{B}} \rightarrow D^{(*)} \tau {\bar{\nu }}\), the anomalies induced by \(b\rightarrow s\mu ^+\mu ^-\) in \({\bar{B}}\rightarrow (K, K^*, \phi )\mu ^+\mu ^-\) and violation of lepton universality in \(R_K = \mathrm{Br}({\bar{B}}\rightarrow K \mu ^+\mu ^-)/\mathrm{Br}({\bar{B}}\rightarrow K e^+e^-)\) within the framework of R-parity violating MSSM. The exchange of down type right-handed squark coupled to quarks and leptons yields interactions which are similar to leptoquark induced interactions that have been proposed to explain the \({\bar{B}} \rightarrow D^{(*)} \tau {\bar{\nu }}\) by tree level interactions and \(b\rightarrow s \mu ^+\mu ^-\) anomalies by loop induced interactions, simultaneously. However, the Yukawa couplings in such theories have severe constraints from other rare processes in B and D decays. Although this interaction can provide a viable solution to the \(R(D^{(*)})\) anomaly, we show that with the severe constraint from \({\bar{B}} \rightarrow K \nu {\bar{\nu }}\), it is impossible to solve the anomalies in the \(b\rightarrow s \mu ^+\mu ^-\) process simultaneously.  相似文献

The possibility of setting constraints on the couplings of a scalar (pseudoscalar) Higgs boson to the tau lepton and the b quark in the reactions \(e^ + e^ - \to \nu \bar \nu \tau ^ + \tau ^ - \) and \(e^ + e^ - \to \nu \bar \nu b\bar b\) at a future linear electron-positron collider of total energy \(\sqrt s = 500 GeV\) is studied. The admixture of a new hypothetical pseudoscalar state of the Higgs boson in the H ff vertex is parametrized in the form (m f /ν)(a+5b). On the basis of an analysis of differential distributions for the processes under study, it is shown that data from the future linear collider TESLA will make it possible to constrain the parameters a and b as ?0.32≤Δa≤0.24 and ?0.73≤b≤0.73 in the case of the reaction \(e^ + e^ - \to \nu \bar \nu \tau ^ + \tau ^ - \) and as ?0.026≤Δa≤0.027 and ?0.23≤b≤0.23 in the case of the reaction \(e^ + e^ - \to \nu \bar \nu b\bar b\). It is emphasized that the contribution of the fusion subprocess WWH in the channel involving an electron neutrino is of particular importance, since this contribution enhances the sensitivity of data to the parameters being analyzed.  相似文献
