A longstanding conjecture asserts that every finite nonabelian p-group admits a noninner automorphism of order p. In this paper we give some necessary conditions for a possible counterexample G to this conjecture, in the case when G is a 2-generator finite p-group. Then we show that every 2-generator finite p-group with abelian Frattini subgroup has a noninner automorphism of order p.  相似文献

In this paper we give an effective criterion as to when a prime number p is the order of an automorphism of a smooth cubic hypersurface of \({\mathbb{P}^{n+1}}\), for a fixed n ≥ 2. We also provide a computational method to classify all such hypersurfaces that admit an automorphism of prime order p. In particular, we show that p < 2 n+1 and that any such hypersurface admitting an automorphism of order p > 2 n is isomorphic to the Klein n-fold. We apply our method to compute exhaustive lists of automorphism of prime order of smooth cubic threefolds and fourfolds. Finally, we provide an application to the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties.  相似文献

A method for constructing binary self-dual codes having an automorphism of order p 2 for an odd prime p is presented in (S. Bouyuklieva et al. IEEE. Trans. Inform. Theory, 51, 3678–3686, 2005). Using this method, we investigate the optimal self-dual codes of lengths 60 ≤ n ≤ 66 having an automorphism of order 9 with six 9-cycles, t cycles of length 3 and f fixed points. We classify all self-dual [60,30,12] and [62,31,12] codes possessing such an automorphism, and we construct many doubly-even [64,32,12] and singly-even [66,33,12] codes. Some of the constructed codes of lengths 62 and 66 are with weight enumerators for which the existence of codes was not known until now.   相似文献

Albert's construction for commutative semifields of order 2 n , n odd, is presented. It avoids the construction of a presemifield and, in the case that n is prime, allows us to determine automorphism groups and the isomorphism classes. If n is a prime greater than three, the semifields are strictly not associative. These semifields are new for all n greater than three, differing from the binary semifields in that each admits only the trivial automorphism.

The authors present an explicit construction of an isotope of the 25-element semifield that contains a subsemifield of order 22.  相似文献

We find examples of nilpotent n-Lie algebras and prove n-Lie analogs of classical group theory and Lie algebra results. As an example we show that a nilpotent ideal I of class c in a n-Lie algebra A with A/I 2 nilpotent of class d is nilpotent and find a bound on the class of A. We also find that some classical group theory and Lie algebra results do not hold in n-Lie algebras. In particular, non-nilpotent n-Lie algebras can admit a regular automorphism of order p, and the sum of nilpotent ideals need not be nilpotent.  相似文献

This article derives from first principles a definition of equivalence for higher‐dimensional Hadamard matrices and thereby a definition of the automorphism group for higher‐dimensional Hadamard matrices. Our procedure is quite general and could be applied to other kinds of designs for which there are no established definitions for equivalence or automorphism. Given a two‐dimensional Hadamard matrix H of order ν, there is a Product Construction which gives an order ν proper n‐dimensional Hadamard matrix P(n)(H). We apply our ideas to the matrices P(n)(H). We prove that there is a constant c > 1 such that any Hadamard matrix H of order ν > 2 gives rise via the Product Construction to cν inequivalent proper three‐dimensional Hadamard matrices of order ν. This corrects an erroneous assertion made in the literature that ”P(n)(H) is equivalent to “P(n)(H′) whenever H is equivalent to H′.” We also show how the automorphism group of P(n)(H) depends on the structure of the automorphism group of H. As an application of the above ideas, we determine the automorphism group of P(n)(Hk) when Hk is a Sylvester Hadamard matrix of order 2k. For ν = 4, we exhibit three distinct families of inequivalent Product Construction matrices P(n)(H) where H is equivalent to H2. A graph is one-regular if its automorphism group acts regularly on the set of its arcs.Let n be a square-free integer.In this paper,we show that a cubic one-regular graph of order 2n exists if and only if n=3~tp1p2…p_s≥13,where t≤1,s≥1 and p_i's are distinct primes such that 3|(P_i—1). For such an integer n,there are 2~(s-1) non-isomorphic cubic one-regular graphs of order 2n,which are all Cayley graphs on the dihedral group of order 2n.As a result,no cubic one-regular graphs of order 4 times an odd square-free integer exist.  相似文献

It is proved that, if the order of a splitting automorphism of odd period n ≥ 1003 of a free Burnside group B(m, n) is equal to a power of some prime, then the automorphism is inner. Thus, an affirmative answer is given to the question concerning the coincidence of the splitting automorphisms of the group B(m, n) with the inner automorphisms for all automorphisms of order p k (p is a prime). We give an upper bound for the number u Γ(n) of “overlattices” in the automorphism group of a tree, containing a fixed lattice Γ with index n. We describe a method to determine up to isomorphism the groups of order q n · p for a fixed prime-power q n and indeterminate prime pq. We report on the explicit construction of all groups of order 2 n · p for n ≤ 8 and 3 n · p for n ≤ 6. In particular, we show that there are 1 090 235 groups of order 768.  相似文献

For a pro-p groupG, containing a free pro-p open normal subgroup of rank at most 2, a characterization as the fundamental group of a connected graph of cyclic groups of order at mostp, and an explicit list of all such groups with trivial center are given. It is shown that any automorphism of a free pro-p group of rank 2 of coprime finite order is induced by an automorphism of the Frattini factor groupF/F * . Let Γ be a Lie group.Then any automorphism of the free group of rank n induces a diffeomorphism of Γ n . We use this remark and a result of P. Vogel to construct linear representations of a certain automorphism group of the algebraic closure of the free group. This automorphism group is closely related to the string link cobordism group.

A compact Riemann surface X is called a (pn)-gonal surface if there exists a group of automorphisms C of X (called a (p, n)-gonal group) of prime order p such that the orbit space X/C has genus n. We derive some basic properties of (p, n)-gonal surfaces considered as generalizations of hyperelliptic surfaces and also examine certain properties which do not generalize. In particular, we find a condition which guarantees all (pn)-gonal groups are conjugate in the full automorphism group of a (pn)-gonal surface, and we find an upper bound for the size of the corresponding conjugacy class. Furthermore we give an upper bound for the number of conjugacy classes of (pn)-gonal groups of a (pn)-gonal surface in the general case. We finish by analyzing certain properties of quasiplatonic (pn)-gonal surfaces. An open problem and two conjectures are formulated in the paper.  相似文献

Using ideas of our recent work on automorphisms of residually nilpotent relatively free groups, we introduce a new growth function for subgroups of the automorphism groups of relatively free algebras Fn(V) over a field of characteristic zero and the related notion of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, and study their behavior. We prove that, under some natural restrictions, the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the group of tame automorphisms of Fn(V) is equal to the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the algebra Fn(V).
