The present research work proposes a new systematic approach to the problem of model-reduction for nonlinear dynamical systems. The formulation of the problem is conveniently realized through a system of singular first-order quasi-linear invariance partial differential equations (PDEs), and a rather general explicit set of conditions for solvability is derived. In particular, within the class of analytic solutions, the aforementioned set of conditions guarantees the existence and uniqueness of a locally analytic solution. The solution to the above system of singular PDEs is then proven to represent the slow invariant manifold of the nonlinear dynamical system under consideration exponentially attracting all dynamic trajectories. As a result, an exact reduced-order model for the nonlinear system dynamics is obtained through the restriction of the original system dynamics on the aforementioned slow manifold. The local analyticity property of the solution’s graph that corresponds to the system’s slow manifold enables the development of a series solution method, which allows the polynomial approximation of the system dynamics on the slow manifold up to the desired degree of accuracy and can be easily implemented with the aid of a symbolic software package such as MAPLE. Finally, the proposed approach and method is evaluated through an illustrative biological reactor example.  相似文献

We present a fast method for nonlinear data-driven model reduction of dynamical systems onto their slowest nonresonant spectral submanifolds (SSMs). While the recently proposed reduced-order modeling method SSMLearn uses implicit optimization to fit a spectral submanifold to data and reduce the dynamics to a normal form, here, we reformulate these tasks as explicit problems under certain simplifying assumptions. In addition, we provide a novel method for timelag selection when delay-embedding signals from multimodal systems. We show that our alternative approach to data-driven SSM construction yields accurate and sparse rigorous models for essentially nonlinear (or non-linearizable) dynamics on both numerical and experimental datasets. Aside from a major reduction in complexity, our new method allows an increase in the training data dimensionality by several orders of magnitude. This promises to extend data-driven, SSM-based modeling to problems with hundreds of thousands of degrees of freedom.

The efficiency of model reduction via balancing for a multimass system with a nonlinear inertial link is demonstrated. As an example, a three-mass dynamic system with a seismic damper is examined. The constraints of the seismic damper are assumed to be ideal. The order of the system of differential equations is reduced by one. It is pointed out that the difference between the numerically analyzed dynamic processes in the original and reduced systems is minor, which makes it possible to use the method for justified simplification of nonlinear systems  相似文献

Relations between the creep strain and the stress are obtained for a complex stress state on basis of the hypothesis that the tangent strain components depend, in a certain slip system, only on the history of variation of the corresponding shear stress component. It is assumed that the slip system orientation is chaotically distributed over all directions and the total strain of the polycrystal is considered as the sum of contributions of all slips. This permits describing the creep strains in an arbitrary stress state by using a common operator defining the dislocation slip in a certain slip system. The model can be used for arbitrary creep operators. Computational results are analyzed and compared with experimental data obtained by other authors.  相似文献

A general nonlinear constitutive model is proposed for magnetostrictive materials, based on the important physical fact that a nonlinear part of the elastic strain produced by a pre-stress is related to the magnetic domain rotation or movement and is responsible for the change of the maximum magnetostrictive strain with the pre-stress. To avoid the complicity of determining the tensor function describing the nonlinear elastic strain part, this paper proposes a simplified model by means of linearizing the nonlinear function. For the convenience of engineering applications, the expressions of the 3-D (bulk), 2-D (film) and 1-D (rod) models are, respectively, given for an isotropic material and their applicable ranges are also discussed. By comparison with the experimental data of a Terfenol-D rod, it is found that the proposed model can accurately predict the magnetostrictive strain curves in low, moderate and high magnetic field regions for various compressive pre-stress levels. The numerical simulation further illustrates that, for either magnetostrictive rods or thin films, the proposed model can effectively describe the effects of the pre-stress or residual stress on the magnetization and magnetostrictive strain curves, while none of the known models can capture all of them. Therefore, the proposed model enjoys higher precision and wider applicability than the previous models, especially in the region of the high field.The project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (10132010 and 90405005)  相似文献

为描述岩石加速蠕变阶段的非线性变形规律,在广义开尔文体基础上串联一个村山体,基于Kachanov损伤率理论,建立了损伤变量D与蠕变时间的函数关系,并根据Lemaitre应变等效原理将村山体中的无损模型参数p用有效模型参数p(1-D)代替,以此来表征岩石加速蠕变阶段的非线性,建立了一种新的非线性损伤蠕变模型;根据广义塑性力学理论给出了该模型的三维蠕变方程;采用Levenberg-Marquardt非线性优化最小二乘法对红砂岩和绿片岩常规三轴压缩蠕变试验数据进行拟合,反演得到这两种岩石的蠕变模型参数。拟合结果表明:拟合曲线与试验曲线的拟合相关系数R2分别为0.999和0.992,说明该蠕变模型能较好地反映这两种岩石各阶段的蠕变曲线特征。  相似文献

Analysis of structural systems which display geometrical nonlinearity may be carried out in some cases with the aid of a digital computer. Convergence of numerical computations is, however, not always assured, and the computer time required is usually a multiple of the time needed for linear analysis. An experimental method to determine stress resultants and displacements, by taking into account geometrical nonlinearity, is suggested. The method consists of loading a model in two stages. First, a fraction of the dead and live loads is applied such that the displacements of the system remain small and its behavior may be considered as linear. Then, the model is loaded with its full dead and live loads under which it displays its real, nonlinear behavior. Strains and displacements are recorded for both cases. By comparing the two readings, that is, by dividing the second readings by the first ones, the nonlinearity of the system is determined. The method is suggested for every project in which nonlinear behavior may be a significant factor.  相似文献

The nonlinear strain measure of a polyisobutylene (PIB) melt as determined by analysis of uniaxial, planar, ellipsoidal, and equibiaxial extensions is compared to the predictions of the molecular model of Doi and Edwards. It is found that the universal strain function of the Doi-Edwards model is unable to predict the nonlinear behavior of this polymer melt in general extensional flow. The qualitative agreement between predictions and experimental data for the strain dependence of shear stress and first normal stress difference in shear flow that was considered as powerful evidence for the correctness of the Doi-Edwards model seems to be accidental. Model reduction techniques such as Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) are decision-making tools that are about to revolutionize many domains. Unfortunately, their computation is still problematic for problems involving many parameters, for which one has to face the “curse of dimensionality”. An answer to this challenge is given in solid mechanics by the so-called “parameter-multiscale PGD”, which is based on Saint-Venant's principle. In this article, a model problem composed of up to a thousand parameters is presented, showing that the method is able to overcome the “curse of dimensionality”.  相似文献

Spallation in heterogeneous media is a complex, dynamic process. Generally speaking, the spallation process is relevant to multiple scales and the diversity and coupling of physics at different scales present two fundamental difficulties for spallation modeling and simulation. More importantly, these difficulties can be greatly enhanced by the disordered heterogeneity on multi-scales. In this paper, a driven nonlinear threshold model for damage evolution in heterogeneous materials is presented and a trans-scale formulation of damage evolution is obtained. The damage evolution in spallation is analyzed with the formulation. Scaling of the formulation reveals that some dimensionless numbers govern the whole process of deformation and damage evolution. The effects of heterogeneity in terms of Weibull modulus on damage evolution in spallation process are also investigated.  相似文献

针对含铝炸药爆轰的非理想特性,提出了含铝炸药爆轰产物膨胀的局部等熵假设,建立含铝炸药爆轰驱动的非线性特征线模型,为研究含铝炸药爆轰产物的非等熵流动和膨胀做功提供了一种新的理论分析方法。设计了5、50 μm含铝炸药和含LiF炸药驱动0.5、1 mm厚金属板实验,通过激光位移干涉仪测试金属板运动的速度历程,再通过实验结果计算得到铝粉在爆轰产物中的反应度变化规律,结合含铝炸药爆轰产物的非线性特征线模型,理论计算了含铝炸药驱动金属板的速度历程。对比理论与实验结果,理论方法能够很好地描述铝粉二次反应对炸药做功能力的贡献,同时验证了含铝炸药爆轰驱动的非线性特征线模型的正确性。  相似文献
