The non-commutative torus C *(n,) is realized as the C*-algebra of sections of a locally trivial C*-algebra bundle over S with fibres isomorphic to C *n/S, 1) for a totally skew multiplier 1 on n/S. D. Poguntke [9] proved that A is stably isomorphic to C(S) C(*( Zn/S, 1) C(S) A Mkl( C) for a simple non-commutative torus A and an integer kl. It is well-known that a stable isomorphism of two separable C*-algebras is equivalent to the existence of equivalence bimodule between them. We construct an A-C(S) A-equivalence bimodule.  相似文献

We prove that, if f(x) L p [0,1], 1 < p < , f(x) 0, x [0,1], f 0, then there is a polynomial p(x) + n such that f - 1/p LP C(p)(f,n -1/2) LP where + n indicates the set of all polynomials of degree n with positive coeficients (see the definition (1) in the text).  相似文献

LetP be a finite classical polar space of rankr, withr 2. A partialm-systemM ofP, with 0 m r - 1, is any set (1), 2,..., k ofk ( 0) totally singularm-spaces ofP such that no maximal totally singular space containing i has a point in common with (1 2 ... k) — i,i = 1, 2,...,k. In a previous paper an upper bound for ¦M¦ was obtained (Theorem 1). If ¦M¦ = , thenM is called anm-system ofP. Form = 0 them-systems are the ovoids ofP; form =r - 1 them-systems are the spreads ofP. In this paper we improve in many cases the upper bound for the number of elements of a partialm-system, thus proving the nonexistence of several classes ofm-systems.Dedicated to Hanfried Lenz on the occasion of his 80th birthday  相似文献

We study wild embeddings of S 1 in S n which are tame in a sense introduced by Quinn. We show that if is a finitely presented group with H 1()=H 2()=0, then any finiteness obstruction K 0() can be realized on the complement of such an embedded S 1. We also realize trivially symmetric K –1() obstructions on the complements of such embeddings. For trivially symmetric , the embeddings constructed are shown to be isotopy homogeneous.  相似文献

Let (x) stand for the number of primes not exceedingx. In the present work it is shown that if 23/421,yx andx>x() then (x)–(x–y)>y/(100 logx). This implies for the difference between consecutive primes the inequalityp n+1p n p n 23/42 .  相似文献

Let G denote a semisimple group, a discrete subgroup, B=G/P the Poisson boundary. Regarding invariants of discrete subgroups we prove, in particular, the following:(1) For any -quasi-invariant measure on B, and any probablity measure on , the norm of the operator () on L 2(B,) is equal to (), where is the unitary representation in L 2(X,), and is the regular representation of .(2) In particular this estimate holds when is Lebesgue measure on B, a Patterson–Sullivan measure, or a -stationary measure, and implies explicit lower bounds for the displacement and Margulis number of (w.r.t. a finite generating set), the dimension of the conformal density, the -entropy of the measure, and Lyapunov exponents of .(3) In particular, when G=PSL2() and is free, the new lower bound of the displacement is somewhat smaller than the Culler–Shalen bound (which requires an additional assumption) and is greater than the standard ball-packing bound. We also prove that ()=G() for any amenable action of G and L 1(G), and conversely, give a spectral criterion for amenability of an action of G under certain natural dynamical conditions. In addition, we establish a uniform lower bound for the -entropy of any measure quasi-invariant under the action of a group with property T, and use this fact to construct an interesting class of actions of such groups, related to 'virtual' maximal parabolic subgroups. Most of the results hold in fact in greater generality, and apply for instance when G is any semi-simple algebraic group, or when is any word-hyperbolic group, acting on their Poisson boundary, for example.  相似文献

Let 1:KH, 2:HG and 21:KG be three finite regular coverings of graphs, and let be a representation of the covering transformation group of 1. We show that the (Bartholdi type) L-function of G associated to the representation of the covering transformation group of 21 induced from is equal to that of H associated to by means of ordinary voltage assignments.Acknowledgments. This considers the question of the best one-sided approximation of certain classes of continuous periodic functions by means of trigonometric polynomials of order n-1 in the metric L 2 p (1p<). Precise upper bounds are obtained for the best one-sided approximation of classes of 2/n-periodic functions H,n [having arbitrary prescribed modulus of continuity (t)] in the metric L 2 p , as well as of classes of 2-periodic functions H [having prescribed modulus of continuity (t) with definite limits] in the metric L 2 1 .Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 10, No. 6, pp. 615–626, December, 1971.The author warmly thanks N. P. Korneichuk for his constant attention to this work.  相似文献

Let denote a bipartite distance-regular graph with diameter D 3 and valency k 3. Suppose 0, 1, ..., D is a Q-polynomial ordering of the eigenvalues of . This sequence is known to satisfy the recurrence i – 1 i + i + 1 = 0 (0 > i > D), for some real scalar . Let q denote a complex scalar such that q + q –1 = . Bannai and Ito have conjectured that q is real if the diameter D is sufficiently large. We settle this conjecture in the bipartite case by showing that q is real if the diameter D 4. Moreover, if D = 3, then q is not real if and only if 1 is the second largest eigenvalue and the pair (, k) is one of the following: (1, 3), (1, 4), (1, 5), (1, 6), (2, 4), or (2, 5). We observe that each of these pairs has a unique realization by a known bipartite distance-regular graph of diameter 3.  相似文献

We construct a Rankin Selberg integral to represent the exterior cube L function L(,3,s) of an automorphic cuspidal module of GL6( F ) (where F is a number field). We determine the poles of this L function and find period conditions for the special value L(,3,1/2). We use the Siegal Weil formula. We also state an analogue of the Gross–Prasad conjecture concerning a criterion for the nonvanishing of L(,3,1/2).  相似文献

The pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the Grushin classes \~S inf0 sup, , 0 < 1, of slowly varying symbols are shown to form spectrally invariant unital Frécher-*-algebras (*-algebras) in L(L 2(R n )) and in L(H st ) for weighted Sobolev spaces H inf supst defined via a weight d function . In all cases, the Fredholm property of an operator can be characterized by uniform ellipticity of the symbol. This gives a converse to theorems of Grushin and Kumano-Ta-Taniguchi. Both, the spectrum and the Fredholm spectrum of an operator turn out to be independent of the choices of s, t and .The characterization of the Fredholm property by uniform ellipticity leads to an index theorem for the Fredholm operators in these classes, extending results of Fedosov and Hörmander.  相似文献

LetX be a finite connectedCW-complex. Suppose that its fundamental group is residually finite, i.e. there is a nested sequence ... m + 1 m ... of in normal subgroups of finite index whose intersection is trivial. Then we show that thep-thL 2-Betti number ofX is the limit of the sequenceb p(Xm)/[: m ] whereb p(Xm) is the (ordinary)p-th Betti number of the finite covering ofX associated with m .  相似文献

Let t be the flow (parametrized with respect to arc length) of a smooth unit vector field v on a closed Riemannian manifold M n , whose orbits are geodesics. Then the (n-1)-plane field normal to v, v, is invariant under d t and, for each x M, we define a smooth real function x (t) : (1 + i (t)), where the i(t) are the eigenvalues of AA T, A being the matrix (with respect to orthonormal bases) of the non-singular linear map d2t , restricted to v at the point x -t M n.Among other things, we prove the Theorem (Theorem II, below). Assume v is also volume preserving and that x ' (t) 0 for all x M and real t; then, if x t : M M is weakly missng for some t, it is necessary that vx 0 at all x M.  相似文献

Summary Let be thek-dimensional subspace spanned by the translates (·–2j/k),j=0, 1, ...,k–1, of a continuous, piecewise smooth, complexvalued, 2-periodic function . For a given functionfL 2(–, ), its least squares approximantS kf from can be expressed in terms of an orthonormal basis. Iff is continuous,S kf can be computed via its discrete analogue by fast Fourier transform. The discrete least squares approximant is used to approximate Fourier coefficients, and this complements the works of Gautschi on attenuation factors. Examples of include the space of trigonometric polynomials where is the de la Valleé Poussin kernel, algebraic polynomial splines where is the periodic B-spline, and trigonometric polynomial splines where is the trigonometric B-spline.  相似文献
