Existence of Global Solutions for a Class of Abstract Second-Order Nonlocal Cauchy Problem with Impulsive Conditions in Banach Spaces

In this paper, we are concerned with a class of abstract second-order nonlocal Cauchy problem with impulsive conditions in Banach spaces. First, we study the existence of mild solutions for a class of second-order nonlocal Cauchy problem with impulsive conditions in Banach spaces on an interval [0,a]. Later, we study a couple of cases where we can establish the existence of global solutions for a class of abstract second-order nonlocal Cauchy problem with impulsive conditions in Banach spaces. We apply our theory to study the existence of solutions for impulsive partial differential equations.     

一类特殊多项式整数规划问题的最优化算法

本文考虑了一类特殊的多项式整数规划问题。此类问题有很广泛的实际应用,并且是NP难问题。对于这类问题,最优性必要条件和最优性充分条件已经给出。我们在本文中将要利用这些最优性条件设计最优化算法。首 先,利用最优性必要条件,我们给出了一种新的局部优化算法。进而我们结合最优性充分条件、新的局部优化算法和辅助函数,设计了新的全局最优化算法。本文给出的算例展示出我们的算法是有效的和可靠的。     

A class of semigroups embeddable in groups

Simple conditions are given in this paper that are sufficient to ensure the embeddability of a semigroup in a group. It is shown that the class of semigroups satisfying the conditions properly contains the class of all cancellative left quasi-reversible semigroups.     

Asymptotic stability of exact and discrete solutions for neutral multidelay-integro-differential equations

This paper concerns the long-time behavior of the exact and discrete solutions to a class of nonlinear neutral integro-differential equations with multiple delays. Using a generalized Halanay inequality, we give two sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the exact solution to this class of equations. Runge–Kutta methods with compound quadrature rule are considered to discretize this class of equations with commensurate delays. Nonlinear stability conditions for the presented methods are derived. It is found that, under suitable conditions, this class of numerical methods retain the asymptotic stability of the underlying system. Some numerical examples that illustrate the theoretical results are given.     

Synchronous manifold and hyperbolicity in a system of coupled identical multidimensional mappings

Two problems are solved: the obtaining of hyperbolicity conditions for families of individual multidimensional mappings and applying these hyperbolicity conditions to a system of coupled mappings and the subsequent proof of the preservation of the hyperbolicity property for the important class of coupled mappings considered. The study is performed by using one-dimensional “comparison mappings” and by introducing a metric special for this class of mappings. Simultaneous decomplexification of a pair of complex matrices by a similarity transformation

The following question is treated: Under what conditions can complex n-by-n matrices A and B be made real by the same similarity transformation? It is shown that if the algebra generated by A and B contains a matrix with a simple real spectrum, then the problem of the simultaneous decomplexification of a matrix pair can be reduced to the decomplexification of a single matrix by a diagonal similarity transformation. From this result, sufficient conditions are derived for the possibility of simultaneous decomplexification. An example illustrating these conditions is given.     

Optimal boundary control by an elastic force at one end and a displacement at the other end for an arbitrary sufficiently large time interval in the string vibration problem

We consider a boundary value problem for the wave equation with given initial conditions and with boundary conditions of the second kind at one end of the string and boundary conditions of the first kind at the other end of the string. We assume the boundary conditions to ensure that the solution of the problem (in the class of generalized functions) satisfying the initial conditions at the initial time t = 0 satisfies given terminal conditions at the terminal time t = T. We clarify the relationship between the functions µ(t) and ν(t) in the boundary conditions and the given functions specifying the initial and terminal states. We obtain closed-form analytic expressions for the functions µ(t) and ν(t) minimizing the boundary energy functional.     

On limit classes of bounded perturbations

We obtain sufficient conditions for a given class of piecewise continuous bounded perturbations to be a limit class, i.e., to admit the computation of the least upper bound for the exponents of linear differential systems with perturbations in that class by a formula similar to well-known formulas for the central and exponential exponents.     

On conditions for optimality of a class of nondifferentiable functions

The purpose of this paper is to derive first-order necessary conditions for optimality of a class of nondifferentiable functions. The first-order necessary conditions for optimality for the minimax function and thel ₁-function can be considered as special cases of the present method. Furthermore, the optimality conditions obtained are used to obtain threshold values for the controlling parameters of a class of exact penalty functions.     

Uniform asymptotics of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Dirac system with an integrable potential

We consider the Dirac operator on a finite interval with a potential belonging to some set X completely bounded in the space L₁[0, π] and with strongly regular boundary conditions. We derive asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the operator; moreover, the constants occurring in the estimates for the remainders depend on the boundary conditions and the set X alone.     

Continuity of the Spectrum of a Field of Self-Adjoint Operators

Given a family of self-adjoint operators \({(A_t)_{t \in T}}\) indexed by a parameter t in some topological space T, necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the spectrum \({\sigma(A_t)}\) to be Vietoris continuous with respect to t. Equivalently the boundaries and the gap edges are continuous in t. If (T, d) is a complete metric space with metric d, these conditions are extended to guarantee Hölder continuity of the spectral boundaries and of the spectral gap edges. As a corollary, an upper bound is provided for the size of closing gaps.     

On a covariance structure of some subset of self-similar Gaussian processes

We introduce a class of self-similar Gaussian processes and provide sufficient and necessary conditions for a member of the class to admit a unique small scale limit in the Skorokhod space. The class includes several well known processes. An example of application to the problem of estimation is given.     

The uv-Decomposition on a Class of D.C. Functions and Optimality Conditions

In this paper,the UV-theory and P-differential calculus are employed to study second-order ex-pansion of a class of D.C.functions and minimization problems.Under certain conditions,some properties ofthe U-Lagrangian,the second-order expansion of this class of functions along some trajectories are formulated.Some first and second order optimality conditions for the class of D.C.optimization problems are given.     

Matrix representations of fourth-order boundary value problems with coupled or mixed boundary conditions

An equivalence between a class of regular self-adjoint fourth-order boundary value problems with coupled or mixed boundary conditions and a certain class of matrix problems is investigated. Such an equivalence was previously known only in the second-order case and fourth-order case with separated boundary conditions.     

A class of power indices for voting games

A class of power indices is discussed which includes not only the usual power indices but also the class of semivalues and the indices introduced byDeegan/Packel [1978]. Sufficient conditions for members of this class to be symmetric, support-independent, and self-dual are given. We then discuss various conditions under which members of this class coincide with the ShapleyShubik and Banzhaf indices.

The KKT optimality conditions in a class of generalized convex optimization problems with an interval-valued objective function

In this paper, we study the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker optimality conditions in a class of nonconvex optimization problems with an interval-valued objective function. Firstly, the concepts of preinvexity and invexity are extended to interval-valued functions. Secondly, several properties of interval-valued preinvex and invex functions are investigated. Thirdly, the KKT optimality conditions are derived for LU-preinvex and invex optimization problems with an interval-valued objective function under the conditions of weakly continuous differentiablity and Hukuhara differentiablity. Finally, the relationships between a class of variational-like inequalities and the interval-valued optimization problems are established.     

The question of the definability of Abelian groups by the centers of their endomorphism rings

We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for an Abelian group in the class of completely decomposable torsion-free Abelian groups of a chosen finite rank to be definable in this class by the center of the endomorphism ring of the group.     

Method of generalized integral guiding functions in the problem of the existence of periodic solutions for functional-differential inclusions

We suggest new methods for the solution of a periodic problem for a nonlinear object described by the differential inclusion x′(t) ∈ F(t, x_t) under the assumption that the multimapping F has convex compact values and satisfies the upper Carathéodory conditions. We also study the case in which this multimapping is not convex-valued but is normal. The class of normal multimappings includes, for example, bounded almost lower semicontinuous multimappings with compact values and mappings satisfying the Carathéodory conditions. In both cases, a generalized integral guiding function is used to study the problem.
