We develop a general convergence analysis for a class of inexact Newton-type regularizations for stably solving nonlinear ill-posed problems. Each of the methods under consideration consists of two components: the outer Newton iteration and an inner regularization scheme which, applied to the linearized system, provides the update. In this paper we give a novel and unified convergence analysis which is not confined to a specific inner regularization scheme but applies to a multitude of schemes including Landweber and steepest decent iterations, iterated Tikhonov method, and method of conjugate gradients.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a convergence analysis of the inexact Newton method for solving Discrete-time algebraic Riccati equations (DAREs) for large and sparse systems. The inexact Newton method requires, at each iteration, the solution of a symmetric Stein matrix equation. These linear matrix equations are solved approximatively by the alternating directions implicit (ADI) or Smith?s methods. We give some new matrix identities that will allow us to derive new theoretical convergence results for the obtained inexact Newton sequences. We show that under some necessary conditions the approximate solutions satisfy some desired properties such as the d-stability. The theoretical results developed in this paper are an extension to the discrete case of the analysis performed by Feitzinger et al. (2009) [8] for the continuous-time algebraic Riccati equations. In the last section, we give some numerical experiments.  相似文献

For the solution of nonlinear equations, we present an adaptive wavelet scheme, which couples an inexact Newton method and the idea of nonlinear wavelet approximation. In particular, we obtain a result of quadratic convergence.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the convergence and the convergence rates of an inexact Newton–Landweber iteration method for solving nonlinear inverse problems in Banach spaces. Opposed to the traditional methods, we analyze an inexact Newton–Landweber iteration depending on the Hölder continuity of the inverse mapping when the data are not contaminated by noise. With the namely Hölder-type stability and the Lipschitz continuity of DF, we prove convergence and monotonicity of the residuals defined by the sequence induced by the iteration. Finally, we discuss the convergence rates.  相似文献

We study the local convergence of several inexact numerical algorithms closely related to Newton’s method for the solution of a simple eigenpair of the general nonlinear eigenvalue problem $T(\lambda )v=0$ . We investigate inverse iteration, Rayleigh quotient iteration, residual inverse iteration, and the single-vector Jacobi–Davidson method, analyzing the impact of the tolerances chosen for the approximate solution of the linear systems arising in these algorithms on the order of the local convergence rates. We show that the inexact algorithms can achieve the same order of convergence as the exact methods if appropriate sequences of tolerances are applied to the inner solves. We discuss the connections and emphasize the differences between the standard inexact Newton’s method and these inexact algorithms. When the local symmetry of $T(\lambda )$ is present, the use of a nonlinear Rayleigh functional is shown to be fundamental in achieving higher order of convergence rates. The convergence results are illustrated by numerical experiments.  相似文献

Newton iteration method can be used to find the minimal non‐negative solution of a certain class of non‐symmetric algebraic Riccati equations. However, a serious bottleneck exists in efficiency and storage for the implementation of the Newton iteration method, which comes from the use of some direct methods in exactly solving the involved Sylvester equations. In this paper, instead of direct methods, we apply a fast doubling iteration scheme to inexactly solve the Sylvester equations. Hence, a class of inexact Newton iteration methods that uses the Newton iteration method as the outer iteration and the doubling iteration scheme as the inner iteration is obtained. The corresponding procedure is precisely described and two practical methods of monotone convergence are algorithmically presented. In addition, the convergence property of these new methods is studied and numerical results are given to show their feasibility and effectiveness for solving the non‐symmetric algebraic Riccati equations. In this paper we propose Jacobian smoothing inexact Newton method for nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) with derivative-free nonmonotone line search. This nonmonotone line search technique ensures globalization and is a combination of Grippo-Lampariello-Lucidi (GLL) and Li-Fukushima (LF) strategies, with the aim to take into account their advantages. The method is based on very well known Fischer-Burmeister reformulation of NCP and its smoothing Kanzow’s approximation. The mixed Newton equation, which combines the semismooth function with the Jacobian of its smooth operator, is solved approximately in every iteration, so the method belongs to the class of Jacobian smoothing inexact Newton methods. The inexact search direction is not in general a descent direction and this is the reason why nonmonotone scheme is used for globalization. Global convergence and local superlinear convergence of method are proved. Numerical performances are also analyzed and point out that high level of nonmonotonicity of this line search rule enables robust and efficient method.  相似文献

We consider the computation of an eigenvalue and corresponding eigenvector of a Hermitian positive definite matrix A , assuming that good approximations of the wanted eigenpair are already available, as may be the case in applications such as structural mechanics. We analyze efficient implementations of inexact Rayleigh quotient-type methods, which involve the approximate solution of a linear system at each iteration by means of the Conjugate Residuals method. We show that the inexact version of the classical Rayleigh quotient iteration is mathematically equivalent to a Newton approach. New insightful bounds relating the inner and outer recurrences are derived. In particular, we show that even if in the inner iterations the norm of the residual for the linear system decreases very slowly, the eigenvalue residual is reduced substantially. Based on the theoretical results, we examine stopping criteria for the inner iteration. We also discuss and motivate a preconditioning strategy for the inner iteration in order to further accelerate the convergence. Numerical experiments illustrate the analysis.  相似文献

We propose an inexact Newton method with a filter line search algorithm for nonconvex equality constrained optimization. Inexact Newton’s methods are needed for large-scale applications which the iteration matrix cannot be explicitly formed or factored. We incorporate inexact Newton strategies in filter line search, yielding algorithm that can ensure global convergence. An analysis of the global behavior of the algorithm and numerical results on a collection of test problems are presented.  相似文献

This work presents a radial basis collocation method combined with the quasi‐Newton iteration method for solving semilinear elliptic partial differential equations. The main result in this study is that there exists an exponential convergence rate in the radial basis collocation discretization and a superlinear convergence rate in the quasi‐Newton iteration of the nonlinear partial differential equations. In this work, the numerical error associated with the employed quadrature rule is considered. It is shown that the errors in Sobolev norms for linear elliptic partial differential equations using radial basis collocation method are bounded by the truncation error of the RBF. The combined errors due to radial basis approximation, quadrature rules, and quasi‐Newton and Newton iterations are also presented. This result can be extended to finite element or finite difference method combined with any iteration methods discussed in this work. The numerical example demonstrates a good agreement between numerical results and analytical predictions. The numerical results also show that although the convergence rate of order 1.62 of the quasi‐Newton iteration scheme is slightly slower than rate of order 2 in the Newton iteration scheme, the former is more stable and less sensitive to the initial guess. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting(HSS) method has been proved quite successfully in solving large sparse non-Hermitian positive definite systems of linear equations. Recently, by making use of HSS method as inner iteration, Newton-HSS method for solving the systems of nonlinear equations with non-Hermitian positive definite Jacobian matrices has been proposed by Bai and Guo. It has shown that the Newton-HSS method outperforms the Newton-USOR and the Newton-GMRES iteration methods. In this paper, a class of modified Newton-HSS methods for solving large systems of nonlinear equations is discussed. In our method, the modified Newton method with R-order of convergence three at least is used to solve the nonlinear equations, and the HSS method is applied to approximately solve the Newton equations. For this class of inexact Newton methods, local and semilocal convergence theorems are proved under suitable conditions. Moreover, a globally convergent modified Newton-HSS method is introduced and a basic global convergence theorem is proved. Numerical results are given to confirm the effectiveness of our method.  相似文献

In this paper we study inexact inverse iteration for solving the generalised eigenvalue problem A xM x. We show that inexact inverse iteration is a modified Newton method and hence obtain convergence rates for various versions of inexact inverse iteration for the calculation of an algebraically simple eigenvalue. In particular, if the inexact solves are carried out with a tolerance chosen proportional to the eigenvalue residual then quadratic convergence is achieved. We also show how modifying the right hand side in inverse iteration still provides a convergent method, but the rate of convergence will be quadratic only under certain conditions on the right hand side. We discuss the implications of this for the preconditioned iterative solution of the linear systems. Finally we introduce a new ILU preconditioner which is a simple modification to the usual preconditioner, but which has advantages both for the standard form of inverse iteration and for the version with a modified right hand side. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results. AMS subject classification (2000)  65F15, 65F10  相似文献

We present a modified damped Newton method for solving large sparse linear complementarity problems, which adopts a new strategy for determining the stepsize at each Newton iteration. The global convergence of the new method is proved when the system matrix is a nondegenerate matrix. We then apply the matrix splitting technique to this new method, deriving an inexact splitting method for the linear complementarity problems. The global convergence of the resulting inexact splitting method is proved, too. Numerical results show that the new methods are feasible and effective for solving the large sparse linear complementarity problems.  相似文献

A total variation model for image restoration is introduced. The model utilizes a spatially dependent regularization parameter in order to enhance image regions containing details while still sufficiently smoothing homogeneous features. A local variance estimator is used to automatically adjust the regularization parameter. A generalized hierarchical decomposition of the restored image is integrated to the algorithm in order to speed-up the performance of the update scheme. The corresponding subproblems are solved by a superlinearly convergent algorithm based on Fenchel-duality and inexact semismooth Newton techniques. Numerical tests illustrate the performance of the algorithm. (© 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Inexact Interior-Point Method   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this paper, we introduce an inexact interior-point algorithm for a constrained system of equations. The formulation of the problem is quite general and includes nonlinear complementarity problems of various kinds. In our convergence theory, we interpret the inexact interior-point method as an inexact Newton method. This enables us to establish a global convergence theory for the proposed algorithm. Under the additional assumption of the invertibility of the Jacobian at the solution, the superlinear convergence of the iteration sequence is proved.  相似文献

In this paper, we are interested in the solution of nonlinear inverse problems of the form F(x)=y. We propose an implicit Landweber method, which is similar to the third-order midpoint Newton method in form, and consider the convergence behavior of the implicit Landweber method. Using the discrepancy principle as a stopping criterion, we obtain a regularization method for ill-posed problems. We conclude with numerical examples confirming the theoretical results, including comparisons with the classical Landweber iteration and presented modified Landweber methods.  相似文献

In this paper, by a further investigation of the algorithm structure of the nonlinear block scaled ABS methods, we convert it into an inexact Newton method. Based on this equivalent version, we establish the semilocal convergence theorem of the nonlinear block scaled ABS methods and obtain convergence conditions that mainly depend on the behavior of the mapping at the initial point. This complements the convergence theory of the nonlinear block scaled ABS methods.  相似文献
