Coherent structures and the bursting phenomena in the wall region of a turbulent boundary layer play a very important role in determining the characteristics of the boundary layer. Yet the nature and the origin of the coherent structures are unclear until now. In this paper, nonlinear stability calculations for the wall region of a turbulent boundary layer have been made. It was found that there do exist instability waves which may be responsible for the coherent structures. The project is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

The response of turbulent flow to the disturbance of a vibrating ribbon   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
By use of the LDV, experimental investigation was carried out for a turbulent boundary layer which was disturbed with an electric-magnetic vibrating ribbon. It is found that, in the flow, the response of the disturbance contains harmonic components besides the fundamental frequency of the ribbon vibration. The fundamental and harmonic disturbances can also enhance the energy of other frequency components around them. In the experiments, the regular disturbane was introduced in the outer region of the boundary layer. Under the given flow conditions, they can significantly influence the downstream coherent structures in the wall region by suppressing the bursts and increasing their period. The effect on the burst period depends on the disturbing frequency. The project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China  相似文献

Coherent motions in the turbulent boundary layer and their relation to the large-scale structures in the intermittent region are investigated experimentally. Using conditional sampling technique, we have shown that a coherent motion is a pair of counter-rotating fluid motions. These coherent motions of various sizes take place in the turbulent boundary layer. Most of them are short and are found only near the wall, but some are tall enough to reach the outer edge of the boundary layer. The turbulent bulges of the intermittent region are formed by these tall coherent motions.  相似文献

Wall pressure fluctuations and surface heat transfer signals have been measured in the hypersonic turbulent boundary layer over a number of compression-corner models. The distributions of the separation shock oscillation frequencies and periods have been calculated using a conditional sampling algorithm. In all cases the oscillation frequency distributions are of broad band, but the most probable frequencies are low. The VITA method is used for deducing large scale disturbances at the wall in the incoming boundary layer and the separated flow region. The results at present showed the existence of coherent structures in the two regions. The zero-cross frequencies of the large scale structures in the two regions are of the same order as that of the separation shock oscillation. The average amplitude of the large scale structures in the separated region is much higher than that in the incoming boundary layer. The length scale of the separation shock motion region is found to increase with the disturbance strength. The results show that the shock oscillation is of inherent nature in the shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction with separation. The shock oscillation is considered to be the consequence of the coherent structures in the separated region.This work was supported by the Chinese National Science Foundation. Thanks for Prof. Z. B. 用热线风速仪测量了风洞中壁面加热平板湍流边界层不同法向位置的流向脉动速度,用条件采样方法中的m-u-level法和VITA法研究了壁面加热对壁湍流相干结构猝发条件平均波形的影响,发现壁面另热能够提高猝发强度,缩短喷射时间,使一次猝发中出现多次喷射事件的现象明显增多,增强猝发的间歇性。  相似文献

In the present paper the coherent structures in the outer region of turbulent boundary layer were investigated experimentally and analytically. From the observation of the flow field over smooth wall, rough wall and sand wave wall, it was found that the direct effect of wall on the flow structure can reachy +1≈100, and both lateral and vertical vortices exist in the outer region, but the coherent structures in the outer region are mainly the formation, development and decay of the large-scale lateral vortices. By experimental and dynamical analysis, some influence factors and their relations associated with the dynamical process of lateral vortices were deduced. The formation and development of hydrodynamic disturbances generated by low-frequency vibrations of a local region on a flat plate behind a rectangular step in separated flow is investigated in a wind tunnel. The results are obtained at a small subsonic flow velocity using the hot-wire anemometry. It is established that the wall vibrations induce separation zone disturbances representing streaky structures accompanied by wave oscillation packets. Laminar boundary layer separation favors the wave packet growth followed by wall flow turbulization.  相似文献

The results of measuring the pressure fluctuations on the wall of the nozzle of a hypersonic wind tunnel beneath a developed turbulent boundary layer are presented for the Mach number M = 7.5. On the basis of a statistical analysis, it is shown that the action of the turbulent flow is dynamically similar to the propagation of a random sequence of wave packets with continuously distributed temporal and spatial scales. Low-frequency disturbances are associated with large-scale structures of long duration that propagate at a mean-statistical velocity similar in value to the outer flow velocity. The continuous generation of weakly-correlated small-scale disturbances ensuring the maintenance and development of turbulence occurs chiefly in the inner region of the boundary layer. Spectral estimates of the power generated by the turbulent flow in the wall region of the boundary layer are presented.  相似文献

20世纪60年代后, 先后从流动显示发现了快慢斑、猝发、上升流、下扫流和多种涡结构等湍流边界层的拟序结构. 它们对湍流边界层的摩阻、传热传质和湍动能的产生等特性有重要影响. 涡结构是上述拟序结构的核心, 它影响其它拟序结构的发展和演变. 发卡涡通常被认为是基本涡结构. 发卡涡等涡结构的再生, 是湍流边界层拟序结构能够自持续的必要的因素.壁面低速流上升产生猝发, 是湍流边界层湍能的主要来源; 条件采样是测量猝发频率和其它拟序结构出现频率的重要手段. 流动显示对湍流边界层拟序结构作了大量定性观察, 有许多减阻和增加传热率等应用性研究在此基础上发展起来. 80年代后, 出现了测量湍流边界层的瞬时流速矢量场的多热线法和PIV技术, 三维PIV技术可望将来为湍流边界层的实验研究带来重大进展. 本文评述了流动显示法、多热线法和PIV技术的优点和不足之处, 以及它们在对湍流边界层拟序结构的研究中的贡献.   相似文献

In this paper,the formation of the coherent structures in the wall region of aturbulent boundary layer was studied,using the nonlinear theory of the hydrodynamicstability.The spanwise and streamwise wavelengths of the most amplified unstablewave obtained by this study were found in good agreement with the experiments,whichmakes the distinct feature of this study in the present paper,as the basis of thestability analysis,a more rational velocity profile has been used,which is different fromthat of the turbulent mean flow.And also,the new nonlinear theory was used.Theresult is useful in understanding of the quasi-periodicity of the coherent structure in theturbulent boundary layer.  相似文献

The process of laminar to turbulent transition induced by a von Karman vortex street wake, was studied for the case of a flat plate boundary layer. The boundary layer developed under zero pressure gradient conditions. The vortex street was generated by a cylinder positioned in the free stream. An X-type hot-wire probe located in the boundary layer, measured the streamwise and normal to the wall velocity components. The measurements covered two areas; the region of transition onset and development and the region where the wake and the boundary layer merged producing a turbulent flow. The evolution of Reynolds stresses and rms-values of velocity fluctuations along the transition region are presented and discussed. From the profiles of the Reynolds stress and the mean velocity profile, a ‘negative' energy production region along the transition region, was identified. A quadrant splitting analysis was applied to the instantaneous Reynolds stress signals. The contributions of the elementary coherent structures to the total Reynolds stress were evaluated, for several x-positions of the near wall region. Distinct regions in the streamwise and normal to the wall directions were identified during the transition.  相似文献

本文利用热膜测速技术对刚性壁面和柔性壁面湍流边界层的流向速度分量进行了实验测量,首先研究了柔性壁面对平均速度分布和湍流度分布的影响,结果表明:柔性壁面的边界层速度分布在对数律层向上有所平移,缓冲层加厚,具有一般的壁面减阻特征;而柔性壁的湍流度比刚性壁的湍流度要低,分布也更为平坦。然后综合运用自相关法和条件采样技术研究了湍流近壁区的相干结构,结果表明:刚性壁自相关曲线的第二峰值出现的时间比柔性壁的短,柔性壁的猝发频率比刚性壁的低许多。实验结果表明柔性壁面具有一定的减阻作用。  相似文献

The expectation that drag reducing longitudinal microgrooves modify coherent structures in the near wall region of a turbulent boundary layer is examined experimentally. The experiments were conducted in both water channel and wind tunnel facilities. Results of direct drag measurement and local flow detail are given. The results of the measurements are discussed in the light of various theories proposed to explain the drag reduction properties of microgrooves.  相似文献

Tomographic particle image velocimetry was used to quantitatively visualize the three-dimensional coherent structures in the logarithmic region of the turbulent boundary layer in a water tunnel.The Reynolds number based on momentum thickness is Reθ = 2 460.The instantaneous velocity fields give evidence of hairpin vortices aligned in the streamwise direction forming very long zones of low speed fluid,which is flanked on either side by highspeed ones.Statistical support for the existence of hairpins is given by conditional averaged eddy within an increasing spanwise width as the distance from the wall increases,and the main vortex characteristic in different wall-normal regions can be reflected by comparing the proportion of ejection and its contribution to Reynolds stress with that of sweep event.The pre-multiplied power spectra and two-point correlations indicate the presence of large-scale motions in the boundary layer,which are consistent with what have been termed very large scale motions(VLSMs).The three dimen-sional spatial correlations of three components of velocity further indicate that the elongated low-speed and highspeed regions will be accompanied by a counter-rotating roll modes,as the statistical imprint of hairpin packet structures,all of which together make up the characteristic of coherent structures in the logarithmic region of the turbulent boundary layer(TBL).  相似文献

The mechanisms of development of slow time-dependent disturbances in the wall region of a hypersonic boundary layer are established and a diagram of the disturbed flow patterns is plotted; the corresponding nonlinear boundary value problem is formulated for each of these regimes. It is shown that the main factors that form the disturbed flow are the gas enthalpy near the body surface, the local viscous-inviscid interaction level, and the type, either subsonic or supersonic, of the boundary layer as a whole. Numerical and analytical solutions are obtained in the linear approximation. It is established that enhancement of the local viscous-inviscid interaction or an increased role for the main supersonic region of the boundary layer makes the disturbed flow by and large “supersonic”: the upstream propagation of the disturbances becomes weaker, while their downstream growth is amplified. Contrariwise, local viscous-inviscid interaction attenuation or an increased role for the main subsonic region of the boundary layer has the opposite effect. Surface cooling favors an increased effect of the main region of the boundary layer while heating favors an increased wall region effect. It is also found that in the regimes considered disturbances travel from the turbulent flow region downstream of the disturbed region under consideration counter to the oncoming flow, which may be of considerable significance in constructing the nonlinear stability theory.  相似文献

A mechanism for generation of near wall quasi-streamwise hairpin-like vortex (QHV) and secondary quasi-streamwise vortices (SQV) is presented. The conceptual model of resonant triad in the theory of hydrodynamic instability and direct numerical simulation of a turbulent boundary layer were applied to reveal the formation of QHV and SQV. The generation procedures and the characteristics of the vortex structures are obtained, which share some similarities with previous numerical simulations. The research using resonant triad conceptual model and numerical simulation provides a possibility for investigating and controling the vortex structures, which play a dominant role in the evolution of coherent structures in the near-wall region.  相似文献

本文评价了辨识湍流边界层近壁区域相干结构的条件采样法、自相关函数法、数字滤波法和子波分析法。结果表明:条件采样方法对门限值和平均窗宽等检测参数具有较强的依赖性,可以通过调整这些参数来选择最佳的参数值使得相干结构的误判概率达到最小。自相关函数法不需要任何参数就能够得出确定的结论,因此是一种比较客观的方法。但是,这种方法只能从统计上确定平均猝发周期,并不能实时地辨识相干结构。数字滤波法能够将湍流脉动信号分解为大尺度涡和近似各向同性的小尺度涡两部分,但是如何去掉大尺度信号中的非相干部分是仍然需要解决的问题。子波分析是分解湍流信号辨识湍流相干结构的有效手段,它能够将湍流信号在时域空间和频域空间进行双局部化分解,用能量最大准则确定相干结构对应的时间尺度参数,用子波逆变换提取相干结构对应的速度信号波形  相似文献
