The theory of a Hilbert space over a finite associative algebra is formulated, and the spectral resolution theorem for bounded Hermitian operators on this space is obtained. The properties of series representations are discussed and are found to be analogous to the usual ones of the complex Hilbert space. It is then shown that the theory of the non-associative Hilbert space developed in our previous paper is contained in the more general theory for the special case in which the finite algebra is chosen to be the Cayley ring.  相似文献

We study the short-time Fourier transformation, modulation spaces, Gabor representations and time-frequency localization operators, for functions and tempered distributions that have as range space a Banach or a Hilbert space. In the Banach space case the theory of modulation spaces contains some modifications of the scalar-valued theory, depending on the Banach space. In the Hilbert space case the modulation spaces have properties similar to the scalar-valued case and the Gabor frame theory essentially works. For localization operators in this context symbols are operator-valued. We generalize two results from the scalar-valued theory on continuity on certain modulation spaces when the symbol belongs to an Lp,q space and M, respectively. The first result is true for any Banach space as range space, and the second result is true for any Hilbert space as range space.  相似文献

A notion of two-parameter local semigroups of isometric operators in Hilbert space is discussed. It is shown that under certain conditions such a semigroup can be extended to a strongly continuous two-parameter group of unitary operators in a larger Hilbert space. As an application a simple proof of the Eskin bidimensional version of the Krein extension theorem is given.  相似文献

Under the appropriate definition of sampling density Dϕ, a function f that belongs to a shift invariant space can be reconstructed in a stable way from its non-uniform samples only if Dϕ≥1. This result is similar to Landau's result for the Paley-Wiener space B 1/2 . If the shift invariant space consists of polynomial splines, then we show that Dϕ<1 is sufficient for the stable reconstruction of a function f from its samples, a result similar to Beurling's special case B 1/2 .  相似文献

Motivated by questions related to embeddings of homogeneous Sobolev spaces and to comparison of function spaces and operator ranges, we introduce the notion of closely embedded Hilbert spaces as an extension of that of continuous embedding of Hilbert spaces. We show that this notion is a special case of that of Hilbert spaces induced by unbounded positive selfadjoint operators that corresponds to kernel operators in the sense of L. Schwartz. Certain canonical representations and characterizations of uniqueness of closed embeddings are obtained. We exemplify these constructions by closed, but not continuous, embeddings of Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions. An application to the closed embedding of a homogeneous Sobolev space on Rn in L2(Rn), based on the singular integral operator associated to the Riesz potential, and a comparison to the case of the singular integral operator associated to the Bessel potential are also presented. As a second application we show that a closed embedding of two operator ranges corresponds to absolute continuity, in the sense of T. Ando, of the corresponding kernel operators.  相似文献

Periodization and sampling operators are defined, and the Fourier transform of periodization is uniform sampling in a well-defined sense. Implementing this point of view, Poisson Summation Formulas are proved in several spaces including integrable functions of bounded variation (where the result is known) and elements of mixed norm spaces. These Poisson Summation Formulas can be used to prove corresponding sampling theorems. The sampling operators used to understand and prove the aforementioned Poisson Summation Formulas lead to the introduction of spaces of continuous linear operators which commute with integer translations. Operators L of this type are appropriately called sampling multipliers. For a given function f, they give rise to new sampling formulas, whose sampling coefficients are of the form Lf. In practice, Lf can be used to model noisy data or data where point values are not available. By representation theorems of the second named author, some of these operator spaces are proved to be mixed norm spaces. The approach and results of this paper were developed in the context of Duffin and Schaeffer’s theory of frames. In particular, sampling multipliers L are related to the Bessel map used by Duffin and Schaeffer in their definition of the frame operator. We present a class of non-Lie commutation relations admitting representations by point-supported operators (i.e., by operators whose integral kernels are generalized point-supported functions). For such relations we construct all operator-irreducible representations (up to equivalence). Each representation is realized by point-supported operators in the Hilbert space of antiholomorphic functions. We show that the reproducing kernels of these spaces can be represented via hypergeometric series and the theta function, as well as via their modifications. We construct coherent states that intertwine abstract representations with irreducible representations.  相似文献

Six characterizations of the polynomial numerical hull of degree k are established for bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space. It is shown how these characterizations provide a natural distinction between interior and boundary points. One of the characterizations is used to prove that the polynomial numerical hull of any fixed degree k for a Toeplitz matrix whose symbol is piecewise continuous approaches all or most of that of the infinite-dimensional Toeplitz operator, as the matrix size goes to infinity.  相似文献

Positive operator measures (with values in the space of bounded operators on a Hilbert space) and their generalizations, mainly positive sesquilinear form measures, are considered with the aim of providing a framework for their generalized eigenvalue type expansions. Though there are formal similarities with earlier approaches to special cases of the problem, the paper differs e.g. from standard rigged Hilbert space constructions and avoids the introduction of nuclear spaces. The techniques are predominantly measure theoretic and hence the Hilbert spaces involved are separable. The results range from a Naimark type dilation result to direct integral representations and a fairly concrete generalized eigenvalue expansion for unbounded normal operators.  相似文献

We study Carathéodory-Herglotz functions whose values are continuous operators from a locally convex topological vector space which admits the factorization property into its conjugate dual space. We show how this case can be reduced to the case of functions whose values are bounded operators from a Hilbert space into itself.  相似文献

The general scheme, suggested in [1] using a basis of an infinite-dimensional space and allowing to construct finite-dimensional orthogonal systems and interpolation formulas, is improved in the paper. This results particularly in a generalization of the well-known scheme by which periodic interpolatory wavelets are constructed. A number of systems which do not satisfy all the conditions for multiresolution analysis but have some useful properties are introduced and investigated.

Starting with general constructions in Hilbert spaces, we give a more careful consideration to the case connected with the classic Fourier basis.

Convergence of expansions which are similar to partial sums of the summation method of Fourier series, as well as convergence of interpolation formulas are considered.

Some applications to fast calculation of Fourier coefficients and to solution of integrodifferential equations are given. The corresponding numerical results have been obtained by means of MATHEMATICA 3.0 system.  相似文献

We develop a model theory for completely non coisometric representations of the Hardy algebra of a W*-correspondence defined over a von Neumann algebra. It follows very closely the model theory developed by Sz.-Nagy and Foiaş for studying single contraction operators on Hilbert space and it extends work of Popescu for row contractions.  相似文献

The problems of perturbation and expression for the generalized inverses of closed linear operators in Banach spaces and for the Moore-Penrose inverses of closed linear operators in Hilbert spaces are studied. We first provide some stability characterizations of generalized inverses of closed linear operators under T-bounded perturbation in Banach spaces, which are exactly equivalent to that the generalized inverse of the perturbed operator has the simplest expression T+(I+δTT+)-1. Utilizing these results, we investigate the expression for the Moore-Penrose inverse of the perturbed operator in Hilbert spaces and provide a unified approach to deal with the range preserving or null space preserving perturbation. An explicit representation for the Moore-Penrose inverse of the perturbation is also given. Moreover, we give an equivalent condition for the Moore-Penrose inverse to have the simplest expression T(I+δTT)-1. The results obtained in this paper extend and improve many recent results in this area.  相似文献

We prove that, in contrast to the case for rational surfaces, some tensor product representations through spaces containing algebraic, trigonometric and hyperbolic polynomials are monotonicity preserving. The surface representations provided in this paper are the only known monotonicity preserving surfaces in addition to the tensor product Bézier and tensor product B-spline surfaces.  相似文献

We study a family of unbounded Hermitian operators in Hilbert space which generalize the usual graph-theoretic discrete Laplacian. For an infinite discrete set X, we consider operators acting on Hilbert spaces of functions on X, and their representations as infinite matrices; the focus is on ?2(X), and the energy space HE. In particular, we prove that these operators are always essentially self-adjoint on ?2(X), but may fail to be essentially self-adjoint on HE. In the general case, we examine the von Neumann deficiency indices of these operators and explore their relevance in mathematical physics. Finally we study the spectra of the HE operators with the use of a new approximation scheme.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a modified convergence analysis for solving Fredholm integral equations of the first kind in Hilbert space setting using Tikhonov regularization. We follow a general approach which not only includes, as special case, the results of Groetsch [2] but also obtain the same with weaker assumptions.  相似文献

We prove the convergence of some multiplicative and additive Schwarz methods for inequalities which contain contraction operators. The problem is stated in a reflexive Banach space and it generalizes the well-known fixed-point problem in the Hilbert spaces. Error estimation theorems are given for three multiplicative algorithms and two additive algorithms. We show that these algorithms are in fact Schwarz methods if the subspaces are associated with a decomposition of the domain. Also, for the one- and two-level methods in the finite element spaces, we write the convergence rates as functions of the overlapping and mesh parameters. They are similar with the convergence rates of these methods for linear problems. Besides the direct use of the five algorithms for the inequalities with contraction operators, we can use the above results to obtain the convergence rate of the Schwarz method for other types of inequalities or nonlinear equations. In this way, we prove the convergence and estimate the error of the one- and two-level Schwarz methods for some inequalities in Hilbert spaces which are not of the variational type, and also, for the Navier–Stokes problem. Finally, we give conditions of existence and uniqueness of the solution for all problems we consider. We point out that these conditions and the convergence conditions of the proposed algorithms are of the same type.  相似文献

We study self-adjoint semigroups of partial isometries on a Hilbert space. These semigroups coincide precisely with faithful representations of abstract inverse semigroups. Groups of unitary operators are specialized examples of self-adjoint semigroups of partial isometries. We obtain a general structure result showing that every self-adjoint semigroup of partial isometries consists of “generalized weighted composition” operators on a space of square-integrable Hilbert-space valued functions. If the semigroup is finitely generated then the underlying measure space is purely atomic, so that the semigroup is represented as “zero-unitary” matrices. The same is true if the semigroup contains a compact operator, in which case it is not even required that the semigroup be self-adjoint.  相似文献

We study the joint spectral radius given by a finite set of compact operators on a Hilbert space. It is shown that the normed finiteness property holds in this case, that is, if all the compact operators are contractions and the joint spectral radius is equal to 1 then there exists a finite product that has a spectral radius equal to 1. We prove an additional statement in that the requirement that the joint spectral radius be equal to 1 can be relaxed to the asking that the maximum norm of finite products of a length norm is equal to 1. The length of this product is related to the dimension of the subspace on which the set of operators is norm preserving.  相似文献
