A new series of copper(II) mononuclear and copper(II)–metal(II) binuclear complexes [(H2L)Cu] ? H2O, [CuLM] ? nH2O, and [Cu(H2L)M(OAc)2] ? nH2O, n = 1–2, M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), or Zn(II), and L is the anion of dipyridylglyoxal bis(2-hydroxybenzoyl hydrazone), H4L, were synthesized and characterized. Elemental analyses, molar conductivities, and FT-IR spectra support the formulation of these complexes. IR data suggest that H4L is dibasic tetradentate in [(H2L)Cu] ? H2O and [Cu(H2L)M(OAc)2] ? nH2O but tetrabasic hexadentate in [CuLM] ? nH2O (n = 1–2). Thermal studies indicate that waters are of crystallization and the complexes are thermally stable to 347–402°C depending upon the nature of the complex. Magnetic moment values indicate magnetic exchange interaction between Cu(II) and M(II) centers in binuclear complexes. The electronic spectral data show that d–d transitions of CuN2O2 in the mononuclear complex are blue shifted in binuclear complexes in the sequences: Cu–Cu > Cu–Ni > Cu–Co > Cu–Zn, suggesting that the binuclear complexes [CuLM] ? nH2O are more planar than the mononuclear complex. The structures of complexes were optimized through molecular mechanics applying MM +force field coupled with molecular dynamics simulation. [(H2L)Cu] ? nH2O, [CuLM] ? nH2O, and the free ligand were screened for antimicrobial activities on some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial species. The free ligand is inactive against all studied bacteria. The screening data showed that [CuLCu] ? H2O > [(H2L)Cu] ? H2O > [CuLZn] ? H2O > [CuLNi] ? 2H2O ≈ [CuLCo] ? H2O in order of biological activity. The data are discussed in terms of their compositions and structures.  相似文献

The triethanolamine complexes, [M(tea)2]sq·nH2O, (n=2 for Co(II), n=0 for Ni(II), Cu(II) and n=1 for Cd(II), tea=triethanolamine, sq2−=squarate), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements, UV-Vis and IR spectra, and thermal analyses techniques (TG, DTG and DTA). The Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes possess octahedral geometry, while the Cd(II) complex is monocapped trigonal prismatic geometry. Dianionic squarate behaves as a counter ion in the complexes. The thermal decomposition of these complexes takes place in three stages: (i) dehydration, (ii) release of the tea ligands and (iii) burning of organic residue. On the basis of the first DTGmax of the decomposition, the thermal stability of the anhydrous complexes follows the order: Ni(II), 289°C>Co(II), 230°C>Cu(II), 226°C>Cu(II), 170°C in static air atmosphere. The final decomposition products — the respective metal oxides — were identified by FTIR spectroscopy.  相似文献

The thermal properties of the Ni(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes of glycine were determined using TG, DTG and DSC techniques. The complexes, MGly2·nH2O (n = 1, 2), dehydrated in the temperature range of 75 to 200°C, followed by the decomposition of the anhydrous compounds in the temperature range of 200 to 400°C. The thermal stability of the complexes, as determined by procedural decomposition temperatures, was: Ni(II) >Co(II) >Cu(II).  相似文献

Piperidine-, morpholine-4-, N-methylpiperazine-4- and thiornorpholine-4-carbodithioate complexes of chromium(III), manganese(III), tin(II) and lead(II) are prepared and characterized by chemical analyses, spectroscopic methods (I.R. and electronic spectra), magnetic susceptibilities, conductivity measurements and mass spectra. The complexes are of the type M(R2dtc)n, where n is the oxidation number of the metal ion. Where possible a tentative stereochemistry of the complexes is discussed on the basis of the results obtained. In all the complexes the dithiocarbamate ligands show bidentate behaviour.  相似文献

Novel transition metal complexes with the repaglinide ligand [2-ethoxy-4-[N-[1-(2piperidinophenyl)-3-methyl-1-1butyl] aminocarbonylmethyl]benzoic acid] (HL) are prepared from chloride salts of manganese(II), iron(III), copper(II), and zinc(II) ions in water-alcoholic media. The mononuclear and non-electrolyte [M(L)2(H2O)2]?nH2O (M = Mn2+, n = 2, M = Cu2+, n = 5 and M = Zn2+, n = 1) and [M(L)2(H2O)(OH)]?H2O (M = Fe3+) complexes are obtained with the metal:ligand ratio of 1:2 and the L-deprotonated form of repaglinide. They are characterized using the elemental and molar conductance. The infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectra show the coordination mode of the metal ions to the repaglinide ligand. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and electronic spectra confirm the octahedral geometry around the metal center. The experimental values of FT-IR, 1H, NMR, and electronic spectra are compared with theoretical data obtained by the density functional theory (DFT) using the B3LYP method with the LANL2DZ basis set. Analytical and spectral results suggest that the HL ligand is coordinated to the metal ions via two oxygen atoms of the ethoxy and carboxyl groups. The structural parameters of the optimized geometries of the ligand and the studied complexes are evaluated by theoretical calculations. The order of complexation energies for the obtained structures is as follows:
$$Fe(III) complex < Cu(II) complex < Zn(II) complex < Mn(II) complex.$$
The redox behavior of repaglinide and metal complexes are studied by cyclic voltammetry revealing irreversible redox processes. The presence of repaglinide in the complexes shifts the reduction potentials of the metal ions towards more negative values.

The infrared spectra of eight complexes of general formula [ML2(NCS)2] (M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; L = aniline or p-toluidine) have been determined over the range 4000–4150 cm?1. Colour, magnetic moments and IR spectra are consistent with polymeric octahedral coordination in the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and polymeric tetragonal coordination in the Cu(II) complexes, while the Zn(II) complexes are assigned polymeric octahedral (L = aniline) and tetrahedral (L = p-toluidine) structure on the basis of their IR spectra. Independent 15N-labelling of the nitrogen atoms of the amino and isothiocyanate groups yields assignments for the internal vibrations of both groups and enables the metal-amine and metal—isothiocyanate stretching vibrations (vM-NH2 and vM-NCS) to be distinguished. Both vM-NH2 and vM-NCS are metal ion dependent in the Irving-Williams sequence (Co < Ni < Cu > Zn) expected from their proposed structures while the vN-H and vN-CS vibrations are inversely related to the masses of the coordinated metal ions.  相似文献

Complexes of diacetyl salicylaldehyde oxalic acid dihydrazone, CH3COC(CH3)= NNHCOCONHN=CHC6H4(OH),(dsodh) and diacetyl salicylaldehyde malonic acid dihydrazone CH3COC(CH3)=NNHCOCH2CONHN=CHC6H4(OH), (dsmdh) of general compositions [M(L)]Cl, [M′(L)Cl], [M(L′)]Cl and [M′(L′)Cl] (where M?=?Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and M′?=?Ni(II); HL?=?dsodh and HL′?=?dsmdh) were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic moments, electronic, ESR and infrared spectra and X-ray diffraction data. The magnetic moments and electronic spectra indicate six-coordinate octahedral geometry for Co(II) and square planar geometry for Ni(II) complexes. The ESR spectral data of Cu(II) complexes in DMF solution reveal a tetragonally distorted octahedral geometry. Both ligands bond through >C=O, >C=N and deprotonated phenolate groups in all octahedral complexes and through >C=N and deprotonated phenolate groups in Ni(II) square planar complexes. The lattice parameters for Cu(dsodh) and Co(dsmdh) correspond to an orthorhombic and Ni(dsodh) corresponds to a tetragonal crystal lattice.

The complexes show significant antifungal activity against a number of pathogenic fungi viz. Stemphylium, Myrothecium and Alternaria. The antibacterial activity was studied against Pseudomonas fluorescence (gram ?ve) and Clostridium thermocellum (gram +ve).  相似文献

The cobalt, nickel, copper and zinc atoms in bis(1,10-phenanthroline)bis(salicylato-O)metal(II) monomeric octahedral complexes [M(Hsal)2(phen)2nH2O, (M: Co(II), n=1; Cu(II), n=1.5 and Ni(II), Zn(II), n=2) are coordinated by the salicylato monoanion (Hsal) through the carboxyl oxygen in a monodentate fashion and by the 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) molecule through the two amine nitrogen atoms in a bidentate chelating manner. On the basis of the DTGmax, the thermal stability of the hydrated complexes follows order: Ni(II) (149°C)>Co(II) (134°C)>Zn(II) (132°C)>Cu(II) (68°C) in static air atmosphere. In the second stage, the pyrolysis of the anhydrous complexes takes place. The third stage of decomposition is associated with a strong exothermic oxidation process (DTA curves: 410, 453, 500 and 450°C for the Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes, respectively). The final decomposition products, namely CoO, NiO, CuO and ZnO, were identified by IR spectroscopy. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Conditions for the preparation of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) 3-methoxy-4-methylbenzoates were investigated and their quantitative composition and magnetic moments were determined. The IR spectra and powder diffraction patterns of the complexes prepared of general formula M(C9H9O3)2·nH2O (n=2 for Mn, Co n=1 for Ni, Cu, n=0 for Zn, Cd) were prepared and their thermal decomposition in air was studied. Their solubility in water at 293 K is of the order 10–2 (Mn)–10–4 (Cu) mol dm–3. IR spectra of the prepared 3-methoxy-4-methylbenzoates suggest that carboxylate groups are bidentate bridging. The magnetic moments for the paramagnetic complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) attain values 5.50, 4.45, 3.16 and 1.79 B. M., respectively. During heating the hydrated complexes lose crystallization water molecules in one step and then the anhydrous complexes decompose directly to oxides MO and Mn3O4. Only Co(II) complex decomposes to Co3O4 with intermediate formation CoO.  相似文献

Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with diacetyl benzaldehyde oxalic acid dihydrazone (dbodh), CH3COC(CH3)=NNHCOCONHN=CHC6H5 and diacetyl benzaldehyde malonic acid dihydrazone (dbmdh), CH3COC(CH3)=NNHCOCH2CONHN=CHC6H5 of general composition [M(dbodh)Cl]Cl and [M(dbmdh)Cl]Cl were synthesized and characterized by microanalyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, UV–Vis, ESR and IR spectra and X-ray diffraction studies. The complexes are 1 : 1 electrolytes in DMF and are insoluble in water and common organic solvents. The dbodh and dbmdh are neutral tridentate ligands in most complexes and coordinate via one >C=O and two >C=N–groups. In Cu(II) complexes the ligands are pentadentate coordinating through three >C=O and two >C=N–groups. The magnetic moment values and UV–Vis spectra suggest square-planar geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and distorted octahedron for both Cu(II) complexes. The ESR spectra of Cu(II) complexes show well-defined copper hyperfine lines in DMSO solution at 120 K and exhibit d x 2 ?y 2 as the ground state. The X-ray diffraction parameters for [Ni(dbodh)Cl]Cl and [Co(dbmdh)Cl]Cl correspond to a tetragonal crystal lattice. The complexes show significant antifungal activity against Alternaria sp., Curvularia sp. and Colletotrichum sp. and fair antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescence.  相似文献

Catalytic efficiencies of seven divalent metal acetylacetonate complexes [M(acac)2; M = Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), and Zn(II)] with respect to the water-crosslinking kinetics of vinyltrimethoxysilane-grafted ethylene-propylene copolymer (EPR-g-VTMS) were investigated to examine the effects of progressive changes in metal ion using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. The hydrolysis activation energies of EPR-g-VTMS follows the order: No catalyst ≈ Ni(acac)2 > Co(acac)2 > Fe(acac)2 ≈ Zn(acac)2 > Cd(acac)2 ≈ Cu(acac)2 > Pb(acac)2. Interestingly, the kinetics results revealed that the plots of hydrolysis activation energies of EPR-g-VTMS containing M(acac)2 complexes and Eigen’s water exchange constants for corresponding metal ions showed a excellent linear relationship, suggesting that the reaction pathway for the silane water-crosslinking with hydrous M(acac)2 complex in EPR-g-VTMS system may be similar to that for water exchange of the metal ion in an aqueous system. Based on the knowledge of traditional kinetics studies by Eigen and Wilkins and hybrid sol-gel chemistry, the plausible catalytic mechanism for M(acac)2 complexes in EPR-g-VTMS system was proposed.  相似文献

The thermal properties of the Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes of iminodiacetic acid (H2IMDA) were determined using TG, DTG and DSC techniques. The complexes, of general formula, MIMDA-2H2O evolved water of hydration from 50 to 150°C which was followed by the decomposition of the anhydrous complex in the 250 to 400°C temperature range. The thermal stability, as determined by procedural decomposition temperatures, was: Ni(II) >Co(II) >Cu(II). The thermal stability is discussed in terms of IR spectra, ΔH, and ΔS, as well as thermal data.  相似文献

New complexes of type [M(HL)(CH3COO)(OH2)m]·nH2O (where M:Co, m = 2, n = 2; M:Ni, m = 2, n = 1.5; M:Zn, m = 0, n = 2.5 and M:Cd, m = 0, n = 0; H2L:5-bromo-N,N′-bis-(salicylidene)-o-tolidine) have been synthesized and characterized by microanalytical, IR, UV–Vis-NIR and magnetic data. Electronic spectra of Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes are characteristic for an octahedral stereochemistry. The IR spectra indicate a chelate coordination mode for mono-deprotonated Schiff base and a bidentate one for acetate ion. The thermal transformations are complex according to TG and DTA curves including dehydration, acetate decomposition and oxidative degradation of the Schiff base. The final product of decomposition is the most stable metallic oxide.  相似文献

New Schiff base (H2L) ligand is prepared via condensation of o-phthaldehyde and 2-aminobenzoic acid in 1:2 ratio. Metal complexes are prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, IR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, 1H NMR, ESR and thermal analysis (TGA). From the elemental analyses data, the complexes were proposed to have the general formulae [MCl(L)(H2O)]·2H2O (where M = Cr(III) and Fe(III)); [M(L)]·yH2O (where M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II), y = 1–2) and [M(L)(H2O)nyH2O (where M = Co(II) (n = y = 2), Co(II) (n = y = 1), Ni(II) (n = 2, y = 1). The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal chelates were non-electrolytes. IR spectra show that H2L is coordinated to the metal ions in a bi-negative tetradentate manner with NOON donor sites of the azomethine-N and carboxylate-O. The 1H NMR spectral data indicate that the two carboxylate protons are also displaced during complexation. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it was found that the geometrical structure of these complexes are octahedral (Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Ni(II)), square planar (Cu(II)), trigonal bipyramidal (Co(II)) and tetrahedral (Mn(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)). The thermal behaviour of these chelates showed that the hydrated complexes losses water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the ligand molecule in the subsequent steps. The biological activity data show that the metal complexes to be more potent/antibacterial than the parent Shciff base ligand against one or more bacterial species.  相似文献

Salicylaldehyde 2-phenylquinoline-4-carboylhydrazone (H2L), and its novel copper(II), cobalt(II), and nickel(II) complexes MHL · Cl · nH2O [M=Cu n = 3 (1), M=Co n = 2 (2), M=Ni n = 3.5 (3)] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, spectroscopic, and thermal analysis. The interaction of these complexes with calf thymus DNA was investigated by UV absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and viscosity measurements. The results suggest that these complexes bind to DNA via an intercalation binding mode and their affinity to DNA follows the order of 3 > 1> 2. Ligand bridged polymeric complexes of the type [M(apainh)(H2O)X] where, M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II); X=Cl2 or SO4; apainh=acetone p‐amino acetophenone isonicotinoyl hydrazone have been synthesized and characterized. The complexes are stable solids, insoluble in common organic solvents and are non‐electrolytes. Magnetic moments and electronic spectral studies suggest a spin‐free octahedral geometry for all Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes. IR spectra show tridentate nature of the ligand bonding through two >C?N and a >C?O groups. X‐ray powder diffraction parameters for some of the complexes correspond to orthorhombic and tetragonal crystal lattices. Thermal studies (TGA and DTA) of [Mn(apainh)(H2O)SO4] complex show multi‐step decomposition pattern of both an endothermic and exothermic nature. ESR data of Cu(II) chloride complex in solid state show an axial spectra, whereas, Cu(II) sulfate complex is isotropic in nature. The complexes show a significant antifungal activity against a number of pathogenic fungal species and antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas sp. and Clostridium sp. The metal complexes are more active than the ligand.  相似文献

Mononuclear copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes of cetirizine (CTZ = 2-[2-[4-[(4-chlorophenyl)phenyl methyl]-piperazine-1-yl]-ethoxy]acetic acid) in the presence of 2-aminomethyl-benzimidazole·2HCl (AMBI), as a representative example of heterocyclic bases, were synthesized and studied by different physical techniques. All mixed-ligand complexes have been fully characterized with the help of elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, molar conductance, magnetic moments and spectroscopic data. The formulae of the isolated complexes are [M(AMBI)(CTZ)(NO3)(H2O)2nH2O where AMBI is the neutral bidentate 2-aminomethylbenzimidazole, CTZ the deprotonated cetirizine and n = 1 for Co(II) or 0 for Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes. The measured molar conductance values in DMSO indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytes. The formation equilibria of the ternary complexes have been investigated. Ternary complexes are formed by a simultaneous mechanism. Stoichiometry and stability constants for the complexes formed are reported. The concentration distribution of the complexes in solution was evaluated as a function of pH. The thermodynamic parameters were calculated from the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constants and are discussed. The synthesized metal chelates have been screened for their antimicrobial activities against the selected types of Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G?) bacteria. They were found to be more active against Gram positive than Gram negative bacteria. The antimicrobial activity in terms of metal ions obeys this order: Cu(II) > Ni(II) > Co(II).  相似文献

Photo-reaction between the ligands Ph2ECH2EPh2 (E = P: dppm, E = As: dpam, E = Sb: dpsm), L, and the vanadium complexes η5-C5H5V(CO)4 and [Et4N][V(CO)6] yields monosubstituted mononuclear (dpsm) and dinuclear, ligand-bridged complexes (dpam, dpsm). With dppm, the final products are disubstituted chelate complexes, but monosubstituted mono- and dinuclear species are formed as intermediates. The shielding of the 51V nucleus decreases in the series dpsm > dppm > dpam and {M(CO)n} > {M(CO)n?1} L > {M(CO)n?1}2μ-L > {M(CO)n?2}dppm ({M(CO)n}[V(CO)6]?, η5-C5H5V(CO)4). The half-widths of the NMR signals are greater for dinuclear than for mononuclear complexes. The crystal and molecular structures of η5-C5H5V(CO)3As2Ph4 have been determined. The compound crystallizes in the space group P21/c with a = 1347.8, b = 1020.0, c = 2085.2 pm and β = 82.3°. Due to steric crowding, the 51V shielding is low composed to that of {η5-C5H5V(CO)3}2μ-dpam.  相似文献

A series of polymeric cobalt(II), nickel(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) azido complexes with hydrazine of the type [M(N2H4)(H2O)(N3)Cl]n, [M(N2H4)(N3)2]n and [M(N2H4)2(N3)2]n have been prepared. These were characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic and IR spectra. The complexes are highly insoluble in polar and non polar solvents. All the complexes decompose with explosion at different temperatures between 100°C to 200°C. The magnetic moment and electronic spectral data for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes suggest that the complexes have octahedral structure. The ligand-field parameters (10 Dq, B, β, β° and LFSE) have also been calculated for all Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes which indicate a significant covalent character of M-L bonds. The IR spectra of the complexes show that the azide group and hydrazine molecule both act as bidentate bridging ligands in [M(N2H4)(H2O)(N3)Cl]n and [M(N2H4)(N3)2]n type complexes but the azide group is terminally bonded to metal in all [M(N2H4)2(N3)2]n type complexes.  相似文献

A new ligand H2L, 1,7-di(1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4-benzylidene)diethenetriamine and its three transition metal complexes, ML · nH2O [M=Cu(II), n=2; M=Zn(II), n=0.5; M=Ni(II) (1), n=3] have been synthesized in anhydrous EtOH and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductivities, i.r. spectra, u.v. spectra and thermal analyses. In addition, the DNA-binding properties of the ligand and its complexes have been investigated by absorption, fluorescence and viscosity measurements. The experimental results indicated that the ligand and the complex (1) can bind to DNA , but the other two complexes can’t; the binding affinity of the complex (1) is higher than that of the ligand and the intrinsic binding constant kb of the complex (1) is 7.893×105 m−1.  相似文献
