In this paper, we present a domain decomposition method, based on the general theory of Steklov-Poincaré operators, for a class of linear exterior boundary value problems arising in potential theory and heat conductivity. We first use a Dirichlet-to-Neumann mapping, derived from boundary integral equation methods, to transform the exterior problem into an equivalent mixed boundary value problem on a bounded domain. This domain is decomposed into a finite number of annular subregions, and the Dirichlet data on the interfaces is introduced as the unknown of the associated Steklov-Poincaré problem. This problem is solved with the Richardson method by introducing a Dirichlet-Robin-type preconditioner, which yields an iteration-by-subdomains algorithm well suited for parallel computations. The corresponding analysis for the finite element approximations and some numerical experiments are also provided.  相似文献

A finite-element capacitance matrix method for exterior Helmholtz problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Summary. We introduce an algorithm for the efficient numerical solution of exterior boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation. The problem is reformulated as an equivalent one on a bounded domain using an exact non-local boundary condition on a circular artificial boundary. An FFT-based fast Helmholtz solver is then derived for a finite-element discretization on an annular domain. The exterior problem for domains of general shape are treated using an imbedding or capacitance matrix method. The imbedding is achieved in such a way that the resulting capacitance matrix has a favorable spectral distribution leading to mesh independent convergence rates when Krylov subspace methods are used to solve the capacitance matrix equation. In this paper, we obtain a new system of canonical integral equations for the plane elasticity problem over an exterior circular domain, and give its numerical solution. Coupling with the classical finite element method, it can be used for solving general plane elasticity exterior boundary value problems. This system of highly singular equations is also an exact boundary condition on the artificial boundary. It can be approximated by a series of nonsingular integral boundary conditions.  相似文献

We show that the method of commuting vector fields can be applied to quasilinear wave equations with localized dissipations in general exterior domains. This allows us to show long time existence for general quasilinear wave equations with quadratic nonlinearities. Moreover, by assuming that the dissipation is effective in a certain neighborhood of the boundary, we need not place any assumption on the geometry of the domain.  相似文献

We propose a method for solving three-dimensional boundary value problems for Laplace’s equation in an unbounded domain. It is based on non-overlapping decomposition of the exterior domain into two subdomains so that the initial problem is reduced to two subproblems, namely, exterior and interior boundary value problems on a sphere. To solve the exterior boundary value problem, we propose a singularity isolation method. To match the solutions on the interface between the subdomains (the sphere), we introduce a special operator equation approximated by a system of linear algebraic equations. This system is solved by iterative methods in Krylov subspaces. The performance of the method is illustrated by solving model problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a general ellipsoidal artificial boundary method for three-dimensional exterior problem. The exact artificial boundary condition, which is expressed explicitly by the series concerning the ellipsoidal harmonic functions, is derived and then an equivalent problem in a bounded domain is presented. The error estimates show that the convergence rate depends on the mesh parameter, the number of terms used in the exact artificial boundary condition, and the location of the artificial boundary.  相似文献

本文应用自然边界元方法求解无界区域抛物型初边值问题。首先将控制方程对时间进行离散化,得到关于时间步长离散化的椭圆型问题。通过Fourier展开,导出相应问题的自然积分方程和Poisson积分公式。研究了自然积分算子的性质,并讨论了自然积分方程的数值解法,最后给出数值例子。从而解决了抛物型问题的自然边界归化和自然边界元方法。  相似文献

In this paper, we apply the boundary integral method to the steady rotating Navier–Stokes equations in exterior domain. Introducing some open ball which decomposes the exterior domain into a finite domain and a infinite domain, we obtain a coupled problem by the steady rotating Navier–Stokes equations in finite domain and a boundary integral equation without using the artificial boundary condition. The three-dimensional interface problem with the homogeneous Lamé system in an unbounded exterior domain and holonomic material behaviour in a bounded interior Lipschitz domain is considered. Existence and uniqueness of solutions of the interface problem are obtained rewriting the exterior problem in terms of boundary integral operators following the symmetric coupling procedure. The numerical approximation of the solutions consists in coupling of the boundary element method (BEM) and the finite element method (FEM). A Céa-like error estimate is presented for the discrete solutions of the numerical procedure proving its convergence.  相似文献

A finite element method for the solution of Oseen equation in exterior domain is proposed. In this method, a circular artificial boundary is introduced to make the computational domain finite. Then, the exact relation between the normal stress and the prescribed velocity field on the artificial boundary can be obtained analytically. This relation can serve as an boundary condition for the boundary value problem defined on the finite domain bounded by the artificial boundary. Numerical experiment is presented to demonstrate the performance of the method.  相似文献

This paper deals with the coupled procedure of the boundary element method (BEM) and the finite element method (FEM) for the exterior boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation. A circle is selected as the common boundary on which the integral equation is set up with Fourier expansion. As a result, the exterior problems are transformed into nonlocal boundary value problems in a bounded domain which is treated with FEM, and the normal derivative of the unknown function at the common boundary does not appear. The solvability of the variational equation and the error estimate are also discussed.

In this paper, we represent a new numerical method for solving the steady-state Stokes equations in an unbounded plane domain. The technique consists in coupling the boundary integral and the finite element methods. An artificial smooth boundary is introduced separating an interior inhomogeneous region from an exterior one. The solution in the exterior domain is represented by an integral equation over the artificial boundary. This integral equation is incorporated into a velocitypressure formulation for the interior region, and a finite element method is used to approximate the resulting variational problem. This is studied by means of an abstract framework, well adapted to the model problem, in which convergence results and optimal error estimates are derived. In this paper, we apply the boundary integral method to the linearized rotating Navier-Stokes equations in exterior domain. Introducing some open ball which decomposes the exterior domain into a finite domain and an infinite domain, we obtain a coupled problem by the linearized rotating Navier-Stokes equations in finite domain and a boundary integral equation without using the artificial boundary condition. For the coupled problem, we show the existence and uniqueness of solution. This article is concerned with a boundary-field equation approach to a class of boundary value problems exterior to a thin domain. A prototype of this kind of problems is the interaction problem with a thin elastic structure. We are interested in the asymptotic behavior of the solution when the thickness of the elastic structure approaches to zero. In particular, formal asymptotic expansions will be developed, and their rigorous justification will be considered. As will be seen, the construction of these formal expansions hinges on the solutions of a sequence of exterior Dirichlet problems, which can be treated by employing boundary element methods. On the other hand, the justification of the corresponding formal procedure requires an independence on the thickness of the thin domain for the constant in the Korn inequality. It is shown that in spite of the reduction of the dimensionality of the domain under consideration, this class of problems are, in general, not singular perturbation problems, because of appropriate interface conditions.  相似文献
