We devise a platform for noise-resistant quantum computing using the valley degree of freedom of Si quantum dots. The qubit is encoded in two polarized (1,1) spin-triplet states with different valley compositions in a double quantum dot, with a Zeeman field enabling unambiguous initialization. A top gate gives a difference in the valley splitting between the dots, allowing controllable interdot tunneling between opposite valley eigenstates, which enables one-qubit rotations. Two-qubit operations rely on a stripline resonator, and readout on charge sensing. Sensitivity to charge and spin fluctuations is determined by intervalley processes and is greatly reduced as compared to conventional spin and charge qubits. We describe a valley echo for further noise suppression.  相似文献

During the recent years semiconductor nanostructures have attracted considerable interest with respect to potential applications in quantum information processing. In particular, quantum dot molecules have been suggested to provide the building block of a quantum computer: forming quantum gates due to coherent coupling of two dots. The characteristic dependence of the splitting of ‘bonding’ and ‘anti-bonding’ states suggests coherent coupling of two InAs/GaAs quantum dots. Anti-crossings in the fine structure of excitons due to mixing of optically bright and dark states have been observed in Faraday configuration. In Voigt configuration the diamagnetic shift of the quantum dot molecule is enhanced compared to a single quantum dot. These findings altogether demonstrate the coherent coupling of exciton states in quantum dot molecules.  相似文献

This study reports on finite-frequency noise and dynamical charge susceptibility in out-of-equilibrium quantum dot systems. Both single and double quantum dots connected to one or two reservoirs of electrons are considered, and these quantities are calculated by using the non-equilibrium Green function technique. The results are discussed in the light of experimental results, particularly in the low-frequency limit for which an interpretation in terms of an equivalent RC-circuit is made. Anti-symmetrized noise is also studied, defined as the difference between absorption and emission noises, and its relationship with the dynamical charge susceptibility in single quantum dots is established. In double quantum dots, the similarities between the dynamical charge susceptibility, the absorption noise, and the dot occupancy, are highlighted by comparing their respective variations with the bias voltage applied between the two reservoirs, and the detuning energy defined as the difference between the lowest level energies in the two dots.  相似文献

Cadmium sulfide quantum dots have been synthesized by wet chemical deposition from an aqueous solution. The sizes of the quantum dots determined by dynamic light scattering directly in the colloidal solution and by intermittent-contact atomic force microscopy in the dry sediment agree with each other. It has been found that splitting of the fluorescence peaks of the quantum dots can be affected by the disorder of the atomic structure of cadmium sulfide quantum dots.  相似文献

We report a new type of coupling between quantum dot excitons mediated by the strong single-photon field in a high-finesse micropillar cavity. Coherent exciton coupling is observed for two dots with energy differences of the order of the exciton-photon coupling. The coherent coupling mode is characterized by an anticrossing with a particularly large line splitting of 250 microeV. Because of the different dispersion relations with temperature, the simultaneous photonic coupling of quantum dot excitons can be easily distinguished from cases of sequential strong coupling of two quantum dots.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence from self-assembled InAs quantum dots embedded in AlAs has been studied. Millisecond-long nonexponential photoluminescence decay is observed in the temperature range of 4.2–50 K. At higher temperatures, the decay time decreases to a few nanoseconds. The experimental results are interpreted using a model of singlet–triplet splitting of exciton levels in small dots in a dense quantum dot system with local carrier transfer between dots.  相似文献

The fine structure of the exciton states in InAs quantum dots grown by the Stranski-Krastanov method with short growth interruptions has been studied by microphotoluminescence at cryogenic temperatures. It has been demonstrated that, with increasing quantum-dot size, the splitting of the exciton states increases steadily to ~102 μeV. It has been shown that, in the exciton energy range of 1.3–1.4 eV, the magnitude of this splitting is comparable to the natural width of the exciton lines. This result is important for the development of entangled photon pair emitters based on InAs quantum dots.  相似文献

Individual and coupled quantum dots containing one or two electrons have been realized and are regarded as components for future quantum information circuits. In this Letter we map out experimentally the stability diagram of the few-electron triple dot system, the electron configuration map as a function of the external tuning parameters, and reveal experimentally for the first time the existence of quadruple points, a signature of the three dots being in resonance. In the vicinity of these quadruple points we observe a duplication of charge transfer transitions related to charge and spin reconfigurations triggered by changes in the total electron occupation number. The experimental results are largely reproduced by equivalent circuit analysis and Hubbard models. Our results are relevant for future quantum mechanical engineering applications within both quantum information and quantum cellular automata architectures.  相似文献

We present theoretically the Zeeman coupling and exchange-induced swap action in spin-based quantum dot quantum computer models in the presence of magnetic field. We study the valence and conduction band states in a double quantum dots made in diluted magnetic semiconductor. The latter have been proven to be very useful in building an all-semiconductor platform for spintronics. Due to a strong p–d exchange interaction in diluted magnetic semiconductor (Cd0.57Mn0.43Te), the relative contribution of this component is strongly affected by an external magnetic field, a feature that is absent in nonmagnetic double quantum dots. We determine the energy spectrum as a function of magnetic field within the Hund–Mulliken molecular-orbit approach and by including the Coulomb interaction. Since we show that the ground state of the two carriers confined in a vertically coupled quantum dots provide a possible realization for a gate of a quantum computer, the crossing between the lowest states, caused by the giant spin splitting, can be observed as a pronounced jump in the magnetization of small magnetic field amplitude. Finally, we determine the swap time as a function of magnetic field and the inter dot distance. We estimate quantitatively swap errors caused by the field, establishing that error correction would, in principle, be possible in the presence of nonuniform magnetic field in realistic structures.  相似文献

The results of the calculation of electronic wave functions and spectra of electrons and holes in silicon quantum dots with a shallow impurity center of the donor type are presented. The fine splitting of energy levels induced by the Coulomb interaction of charge carriers with the donor and by the spin-orbit splitting in the valence band is obtained in the framework of the envelope function approximation. It is shown that the maximum removal of degeneracy is accomplished in the case of an asymmetric location of the donor inside the quantum dot when the directions of the donor radius vector do not coincide with the principal crystallographic directions.  相似文献

The near band-gap level structure in high-quality colloidal InAs nanocrystal quantum dots within the very strong confinement regime is investigated. Size-selective photoluminescence excitation and fluorescence line narrowing measurements reveal a size-dependent splitting between the absorbing and the emitting states. The splitting is assigned to the confinement-enhanced electron–hole exchange interaction. The size dependence of the splitting significantly deviates from the idealized 1/r3scaling law for the exchange splitting. A model incorporating a finite barrier which allows for wavefunction leakage is introduced. The model reproduces the observed 1/r2dependence of the splitting and good agreement with the experimental data is obtained. The smaller barriers for embedded InAs dots grown by molecular-beam epitaxy, are predicted to result in smaller exchange splitting as compared with colloidal dots with a similar number of atoms.  相似文献

Coherent spin precession of electrons and excitons is observed in charge tunable InP quantum dots under the transverse magnetic field by means of time-resolved Kerr rotation. In a quantum dot doped by one electron, spin precession of the doped electron in the quantum dot starts out of phase with spin precession of the doped electrons in a GaAs substrate just after a trion is formed and persists for more than 2 ns even after the trion recombines. Simultaneously spin precession of a trion (hole) starts. Observation of spin precession of both a doped electron and a trion (hole) confirms creating coherent superposition of an electron and a trion as the initialization process of spin of doped electrons in quantum dots. In a neutral quantum dot, the exciton spin precession starts out of phase with spin precession of the doped electrons in a GaAs substrate and the precession frequency does not converge to 0 at the zero field limit. It contains the electron–hole exchange interaction and corresponds to the splitting between bright and dark excitons under the transverse magnetic field.  相似文献

Semiconductor nanostructures have attracted considerable interest during the recent years in view of the potential application in quantum information processing. In particular, quantum dots have been suggested to fulfill an essential requirement for quantum computation: controllable interaction that couples two quantum dot qubits. Previous experiments on two vertically aligned quantum dots have demonstrated the formation of coupled exciton states. We show that this coupling between two In0.60Ga0.40As/GaAs quantum dots can be tuned by an electric field applied along the molecule axis. This controllable coupling in such a relatively simple configuration could be implemented in a solid-state-based quantum device.  相似文献

We have investigated magneto-optical properties of GaSb/GaAs self-assemble type II quantum dots by single dot spectroscopy in magnetic field. We have observed clear Zeeman splitting and diamagnetic shift of GaSb/GaAs quantum dots. The diamagnetic coefficient ranges from 5 to 30 μeV/T2. The large coefficient and their large distribution are attributed to the size inhomogeneity and electron localization outside the dot. The g-factor of GaSb/GaAs quantum dots is slightly larger than that of similar type I InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots. In addition, we find almost linear relationship between the diamagnetic coefficient and the g-factor. The linear increase of g-factor with diamagnetic coefficient is due to an increase of spin-orbit interaction with dot size.  相似文献

We theoretically study the thermoelectric transport properties through a triple quantum dots (QDs) device with the central QD coupled to a ferromagnetic lead, a superconducting one, and two side QDs with spin-dependent interdot tunneling coupling. The thermoelectric coefficients are calculated in the linear response regime by means of nonequilibrium Green's function method. The thermopower is determined by the single-electron tunneling processes at the edge of superconducting gap. Near the outside of the gap edge the thermopower is enhanced while thermal conductance is suppressed, as a result, the charge figure of merit can be greatly improved as the gap appropriately increases. In the same way, charge figure of merit also can be greatly improved near the outside of the gap edge by adjusting interdot tunneling coupling and asymmetry coupling of the side QDs to central QD. Moreover, the appropriate increase of the interdot tunneling splitting and spin polarization of ferromagnetic lead not only can improve charge thermopower and charge figure of merit, but also can enhance spin thermopower and spin figure of merit. Especially, the interdot tunneling splitting scheme provides a method of controlling charge (spin) figure merit by external magnetic field.  相似文献

A systematic variation of the exciton fine-structure splitting with quantum dot size in single quantum dots grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition is observed. The splitting increases from to as much as with quantum dot size. A change of sign is reported for small quantum dots. Model calculations within the framework of eight-band theory and the configuration interaction method were performed. Different sources for the fine-structure splitting are discussed, and piezoelectricity is pinpointed as the only effect reproducing the observed trend.

We report low-temperature conductance measurements in the Coulomb blockade regime on two nominally identical tunnel-coupled quantum dots in parallel defined electrostatically in the two-dimensional electron gas of a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. At low interdot tunnel coupling we find that the conductance measured through one dot is sensitive to the charge state of the neighboring dot. At larger interdot coupling the conductance data reflect the role of quantum charge fluctuations between the dots. As the interdot conductance approaches 2e2/h, the coupled dots behave as a single large dot.  相似文献

Low-temperature transport measurements have been carried out on single-wall carbon-nanotube quantum dots in a weakly coupled regime in magnetic fields. Four-electron shell filling was observed, and the magnetic field evolution of each Coulomb peak was investigated. Excitation spectroscopy measurements have revealed Zeeman splitting of single particle states for one electron in the shell, and demonstrated singlet and triplet states with direct observation of the exchange splitting at zero-magnetic field for two electrons in the shell, the simplest example of Hund's rule.  相似文献
