On a Reliable Solution of a Volterra Integral Equation in a Hilbert Space

We consider a class of Volterra-type integral equations in a Hilbert space. The operators of the equation considered appear as time-dependent functions with values in the space of linear continuous operators mapping the Hilbert space into its dual. We are looking for maximal values of cost functionals with respect to the admissible set of operators. The existence of a solution in the continuous and the discretized form is verified. The convergence analysis is performed. The results are applied to a quasistationary problem for an anisotropic viscoelastic body made of a long memory material.     

A Mixed Problem with Integral Condition for the Hyperbolic Equation

In this paper, we study a mixed problem for the hyperbolic equation with a boundary Neumann condition and a nonlocal integral condition. We justify the assertion that there exists a unique generalized solution of the problem under consideration. The proof of uniqueness is based on an estimate, derived a priori, in the function space introduced in the paper, while the existence of a generalized solution is proved by the Galerkin method.

A Generalization of a Volterra Integral Equation

Sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution to a non-linear Volterra integral equation are given for special cases of the general equation. In the generality given here, this equation has, apparently, not been studied before. The major technique used is the classical fixed point theorem of Banach. An apparent innovation of this article is the use of Banach's theorem to prove both the existence and find the location of a solution to the integral equation and prove the existence and find the location of the derivative to this solution, which exists almost everywhere. Furthermore, it is shown that for some particular choices of the constants, multiple solutions exist to this equation.
